2ΤοῖςToisTo the ἐνenin ΚολοσσαῖςKolossaisColossae : ἁγίοιςhagioissaints καὶkaiand πιστοῖςpistoisfaithful ἀδελφοῖςadelphoisbrothers ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ΧάριςCharisGrace ὑμῖνhyminto you καὶkaiand εἰρήνηeirēnēpeace ἀπὸapofrom ΘεοῦTheouGod ΠατρὸςPatrosFather . ἡμῶνhēmōnour καὶkaiand ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ,

3ΕὐχαριστοῦμενEucharistoumenWe always thank τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōGod , ΠατρὶPatri[the] Father τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , πάντοτεpantote. . . περὶperifor ὑμῶνhymōnyou , προσευχόμενοιproseuchomenoiwhen we pray

4ἀκούσαντεςakousantesbecause we have heard about τὴνtēn- πίστινpistinfaith ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus καὶkaiand τὴνtēn- ἀγάπηνagapēnlove τὴνtēn- εἰςeisfor πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtousthe ἁγίουςhagioussaints —

5διὰdia[the faith and love] proceeding from τὴνtēnthe ἐλπίδαelpidahope τὴνtēn- ἀποκειμένηνapokeimenēnstored up ὑμῖνhyminfor you ἐνenin τοῖςtois- οὐρανοῖςouranoisheaven , ἣνhēnof which προηκούσατεproēkousateyou have already heard ἐνenin τῷtōthe λόγῳlogōword τῆςtēs- ἀληθείαςalētheiasof truth , τοῦtouthe εὐαγγελίουeuangeliougospel

6τοῦtouthat παρόντοςparontoshas come εἰςeisto ὑμᾶςhymasyou . καθὼςkathōs- καὶkai- ἐνenover παντὶpantiAll τῷtōthe κόσμῳkosmōworld καὶkaiand ἐστίestiI have καρποφορούμενονkarpophoroumenonbearing fruit καὶkaiand αὐξανόμενονauxanomenongrowing , καθὼςkathōsjust as καὶkai[it has been doing] ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhyminyou ἀφ’aph’since ἧςhēsthe ἡμέραςhēmerasday ἠκούσατεēkousateyou heard [it] καὶkaiand ἐπέγνωτεepegnōteunderstood τὴνtēnthe χάρινcharingrace τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God . ἐνenvvv ἀληθείᾳalētheiatruly

7καθὼςkathōs- καὶkaiand ἐμάθετεematheteYou learned [it] ἀπὸapofrom ἘπαφρᾶEpaphraEpaphras , τοῦtou- ἀγαπητοῦagapētoubeloved συνδούλουsyndouloufellow servant , ἡμῶνhēmōnour ὅςhoswho ἐστίestiI have πιστὸςpistosa faithful ὑπὲρhyperbehalf , ἡμῶν*hēmōnon our διάκονοςdiakonosminister τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ

8ὁho[and] who καὶkaialso δηλώσαςdēlōsasinformed ἡμῖνhēminus τὴνtēn- ὑμῶνhymōnof your ἀγάπηνagapēnlove ἐνenin ΠνεύματιPneumati[the] Spirit .

9ΔιὰDiaFor this reason τοῦτοtouto. . . καὶkai. . . , ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe ἀφ’aph’since ἧςhēsthe ἡμέραςhēmerasday ἠκούσαμενēkousamenwe heard [about you] , οὐou{have} not παυόμεθαpauomethastopped ὑπὲρhyperfor ὑμῶνhymōnyou προσευχόμενοιproseuchomenoipraying καὶkaiand αἰτούμενοιaitoumenoiasking ἵναhina[God] to πληρωθῆτεplērōthētefill you with τὴνtēnthe ἐπίγνωσινepignōsinknowledge τοῦtouof θελήματοςthelēmatoswill αὐτοῦautouHis ἐνenin πάσῃpasēall σοφίᾳsophiawisdom καὶkaiand συνέσειsyneseiunderstanding , πνευματικῇpneumatikēspiritual

10περιπατῆσαιperipatēsaiso that you may walk ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἀξίωςaxiōsin a manner worthy τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord εἰςeisin πᾶσανpasanevery way : ἀρεσκείανareskeian[and] may please [Him] ἐνenin παντὶpantievery ἔργῳergōwork , ἀγαθῷagathōgood καρποφοροῦντεςkarpophorountesbearing fruit καὶkai- αὐξανόμενοιauxanomenoigrowing εἰςeisin τὴνtēnthe ἐπίγνωσινepignōsinknowledge τοῦtouof ΘεοῦTheouof God ,

11ἐνenwith πάσῃpasēall δυνάμειdynameipower δυναμούμενοιdynamoumenoibeing strengthened κατὰkataaccording to τὸto- κράτοςkratosmight τῆςtēs- δόξηςdoxēsglorious αὐτοῦautouHis εἰςeisso that you may have πᾶσανpasanfull ὑπομονὴνhypomonēnendurance καὶkaiand μακροθυμίανmakrothymianpatience , μετὰmeta[and] joyfully χαρᾶςcharas. . .

12εὐχαριστοῦντεςeucharistountesgiving thanks τῷtōto the ΘεῷTheōGod , καὶkaiand ΠατρὶPatri[the] Father τῷtō- ἱκανώσαντιhikanōsantihas qualified ἡμᾶςhēmasus εἰςeisinto τὴνtēnthe μερίδαmeridato share τοῦtouin the κλήρουklērouinheritance τῶνtōnof the ἁγίωνhagiōnsaints ἐνenin τῷtōthe φωτίphōtilight .

13ὃςhosHe ἐρρύσατοerrysatohas rescued ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἐκekfrom τῆςtēsthe ἐξουσίαςexousiasdominion τοῦtou- σκότουςskotousof darkness καὶkaiand μετέστησενmetestēsenbrought [us] εἰςeisinto τὴνtēnthe βασιλείανbasileiankingdom τοῦtouof ΥἱοῦHuiouSon , τῆςtēs- ἀγάπηςagapēsbeloved αὐτοῦautouHis

14ἐνenin ᾧhōwhom ἔχομενechomenwe have τὴνtēn- ἀπολύτρωσινapolytrōsinredemption , τὴνtēnthe ἄφεσινaphesinforgiveness τῶνtōn- ἁμαρτιῶνhamartiōnof sins .

15ὍςHos[The Son] ἐστινestinis εἰκὼνeikōn[the] image τοῦtouof the ΘεοῦTheouGod , τοῦtou- ἀοράτουaoratouinvisible πρωτότοκοςprōtotokos[the] firstborn πάσηςpasēsover all κτίσεωςktiseōscreation .

16ὅτιhotiFor ἐνenin αὐτῷautōHim ἐκτίσθηektisthēwere created , τὰta- πάνταpantaall things τὰta- ἐνenin τοῖςtois- οὐρανοῖςouranoisheaven καὶkaiand τὰta- ἐπὶepion τῆςtēs- γῆςgēsearth , τὰta- ὁρατὰhoratavisible καὶkaiand τὰta- ἀόραταaoratainvisible , εἴτεeitewhether θρόνοιthronoithrones εἴτεeiteor κυριότητεςkyriotētesdominions εἴτεeiteor ἀρχαὶarchairulers εἴτεeiteor ἐξουσίαιexousiaiauthorities . τὰta- πάνταpantaAll things δι’di’through αὐτοῦautouHim καὶkaiand εἰςeisfor αὐτὸνautonHim . ἔκτισταιektistaiwere created

17καὶkaiand αὐτόςautosHe ἐστίestiI have πρὸprobefore πάντωνpantōnall things , καὶkaiand τὰta- πάνταpantaall things ἐνenin αὐτῷautōHim συνέστηκε,sunestekehold together .

18καὶkaiand αὐτόςautosHe ἐστινestinis ἡhēthe κεφαλὴkephalēhead τοῦtouof the σώματοςsōmatosbody , τῆςtēsthe ἐκκλησίαςekklēsiaschurch ; ὅςhosHe ἐστινestinis ἀρχήarchēbeginning πρωτότοκοςprōtotokos[and] firstborn ἐκekfrom among τῶνtōnthe νεκρῶνnekrōndead , ἵναhinaso that γένηταιgenētaimay ἐνenin πᾶσινpasinall things αὐτὸςautosHe πρωτεύωνprōteuōnhave preeminence .

19ὅτιhotiFor ἐνenin αὐτῷautōHim , εὐδόκησεeudokeseis pleased πᾶνpanall τὸto[His] πλήρωμαplērōmafullness κατοικῆσαιkatoikēsaidwell

20καὶkaiand δι’di’through αὐτοῦautouHim ἀποκαταλλάξαιapokatallaxaito reconcile τὰta- πάνταpantaall things , εἰςeisto αὐτόνautonHimself εἰρηνοποιήσαςeirēnopoiēsasby making peace διὰdiathrough τοῦtouthe αἵματοςhaimatosblood τοῦtouof σταυροῦstauroucross αὐτοῦautouHis δι’di’- αὐτοῦautou- . εἴτεeiteor τὰtathings ἐπὶepion τῆςtēs- γῆςgēsearth εἴτεeiteor τὰtathings ἐνenin τοῖςtois- οὐρανοῖςouranoisheaven ,

21ΚαὶKai- ὑμᾶςhymasyou ποτεpoteOnce ὄνταςontaswere ἀπηλλοτριωμένουςapēllotriōmenousalienated [ from God ] καὶkaiand ἐχθροὺςechthrouswere hostile τῇtēin διανοίᾳdianoiayour minds , ἐνenengaging in τοῖςtois- ἔργοιςergoisdeeds . τοῖςtois- πονηροῖςponēroisevil νυνὶnyninow δὲdeBut ἀποκατήλλαξενapokatēllaxenHe has reconciled [you]

22ἐνenby τῷtō- σώματιsōmatibody τῆςtēsvvv σαρκὸςsarkosphysical αὐτοῦautou[Christ’s] διὰdiathrough τοῦtou- θανάτουthanatoudeath παραστῆσαιparastēsaito present ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἁγίουςhagiousholy , καὶkai- ἀμώμουςamōmousunblemished , καὶkaiand ἀνεγκλήτουςanenklētousblameless κατενώπιονkatenōpionin His presence αὐτοῦautou. . . —

23εἴeiif γεgeindeed ἐπιμένετεepimeneteyou continue τῇtē- πίστειpisteiin [your] faith , τεθεμελιωμένοιtethemeliōmenoiestablished καὶkaiand ἑδραῖοιhedraioifirm , καὶkai- μὴmēnot μετακινούμενοιmetakinoumenoimoved ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēsthe ἐλπίδοςelpidoshope τοῦtouof the εὐαγγελίουeuangeliougospel οὗhou- ἠκούσατεēkousateyou heard , τοῦtouwhich κηρυχθέντοςkērychthentoshas been proclaimed ἐνento πάσῃpasēevery τῇtē- κτίσειktiseicreature τῇtē- ὑπὸhypounder τὸνton- οὐρανόνouranonheaven , οὗhou[and] of which ἐγενόμηνegenomēnhave become ἐγὼegōI , ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul , διάκονοςdiakonosa servant .

24ΝῦνNynNow χαίρωchairōI rejoice ἐνenin τοῖςtois[my] παθήμασίpathemasipassions μουmoumy ὑπὲρhyperfor you ὑμῶνhymōn. . . , καὶkaiand ἀνταναπληρῶantanaplērōI fill up τὰtawhat ὑστερήματαhysterēmatais lacking τῶνtōnin regard to θλίψεωνthlipseōnafflictions τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouChrist’s ἐνenin τῇtē- σαρκίsarkiflesh μουmoumy ὑπὲρhyperfor you τοῦtou- σώματοςsōmatosbody , αὐτοῦautouHis ὅhowhich ἐστινestinis ἡhēthe ἐκκλησίαekklēsiachurch .

25ἧςhēsits ἐγενόμηνegenomēnbecame ἐγὼegōI διάκονοςdiakonosservant κατὰkataby τὴνtēnthe οἰκονομίανoikonomiancommission τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod τὴνtēn- δοθεῖσάνdotheisangave μοιmoime εἰςeisto ὑμᾶςhymasyou πληρῶσαιplērōsaito fully proclaim τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God ,

26τὸtothe μυστήριονmystērionmystery τὸtothat ἀποκεκρυμμένονapokekrymmenonwas hidden ἀπὸapofor τῶνtōn- αἰώνωνaiōnōnages καὶkaiand ἀπὸapo- τῶνtōn- γενεῶνgeneōngenerations νυνὶnyninow δὲdeBut ἐφανερώθηephanerōthēis now revealed τοῖςtoisto ἁγίοιςhagioissaints . αὐτοῦautouHis

27οἷςhoisTo [them] ἠθέλησενēthelēsenhas chosen ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod γνωρίσαιgnōrisaito make known τιςtisa ὁho- πλοῦτοςploutosriches τῆςtēsthe δόξηςdoxēsglorious τοῦtou- μυστηρίουmystērioumystery , τούτουtoutouof this ἐνenin τοῖςtoisthe ἔθνεσινethnesinGentiles ὅςhosHe ἐστίestiI have ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ἐνenin ὑμῖνhyminyou , ἡhēthe ἐλπὶςelpishope τῆςtēsof δόξηςdoxēsglory .

28ὃνhonHim , ἡμεῖςhēmeisWe καταγγέλλομενkatangellomenproclaim νουθετοῦντεςnouthetountesadmonishing πάνταpanta- ἄνθρωπονanthrōpon- καὶkaiand διδάσκοντεςdidaskontesteaching πάνταpantaeveryone ἄνθρωπονanthrōpon- ἐνenwith πάσῃpasēall σοφίᾳsophiawisdom , ἵναhinaso that παραστήσωμενparastēsōmenwe may present πάνταpantaeveryone ἄνθρωπονanthrōpon- τέλειονteleionperfect ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist . ἸησοῦIēsouJesus

29εἰςeisfor ὁho[our] καὶkaiand κοπιῶkopiōlabor , ἀγωνιζόμενοςagōnizomenosstriving κατὰkatawith all τὴνtēn- ἐνέργειανenergeianenergy αὐτοῦautouHis τὴνtēn- ἐνεργουμένηνenergoumenēnworking ἐνenvvv ἐμοὶemoime . ἐνenwithin δυνάμειdynameipowerfully
