2διελθὼνdielthōntraveling through δὲde[After] τὰta- μέρηmerēarea ἐκεῖναekeinathat καὶkaiand παρακαλέσαςparakalesasspeaking many words of encouragement αὐτοὺςautous. . . λόγῳlogō. . . , πολλῷpollō. . . ἦλθενēlthenhe arrived εἰςeisin τὴνtēn- ἙλλάδαHelladaGreece ,
3ποιήσαςpoiēsashe stayed τεte[where] μῆναςmēnasmonths . τρεῖςtreisthree γενομένηςgenomenēsformed αὐτῷautōagainst him ἐπιβουλῆςepiboulēsa plot ὑπὸhypo[And when] τῶνtōnthe ἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnJews μέλλοντιmellonti[as] he was about ἀνάγεσθαιanagesthaito sail εἰςeisfor τὴνtēn- ΣυρίανSyrianSyria , ἐγένετοegeneto. . . γνώμηgnomehe decided τοῦtou- ὑποστρέφεινhypostrepheinto go back διὰdiathrough ΜακεδονίαςMakedoniasMacedonia .
4ΣυνείπετοSyneipetowas accompanied by δὲde- αὐτῷautō[Paul] ἄχριachrilater τῆςtēsthe ἈσίαςAsias[province of] Asia , ΣώπατροςSōpatrosSopater ΒεροιαῖοςBeroiaiosfrom Berea , ΘεσσαλονικέωνThessalonikeōnfrom Thessalonica , δὲde- ἈρίσταρχοςAristarchosAristarchus καὶkaiand ΣεκοῦνδοςSekoundosSecundus καὶkaiand ΓάϊοςGaiosGaius ΔερβαῖοςDerbaiosfrom Derbe , καὶkai- ΤιμόθεοςTimotheosTimothy , ἈσιανοὶAsianoifrom [the province of] Asia . δὲde- ΤυχικὸςTychikosTychicus καὶkaiand ΤρόφιμοςTrophimosTrophimus
5οὗτοιhoutoiThese [men] προελθόντεςproelthonteswent on ahead ἔμενονemenon[and] waited for ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἐνenin ΤρῳάδιTrōadiTroas .
6ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe δὲdeAnd ἐξεπλεύσαμενexepleusamensailed μετὰmetaafter τὰςtasthe ἡμέραςhēmeras[Feast] τῶνtōnof ἀζύμωνazymōnUnleavened Bread , ἀπὸapofrom ΦιλίππωνPhilippōnPhilippi , καὶkaiand ἤλθομενēlthomenwe rejoined πρὸςpros- αὐτοὺςautousthem εἰςeisin τὴνtēn- ΤρῳάδαTrōadaTroas , ἄχριachrilater ἡμερῶνhēmerōndays πέντεpentefive οὗhouwhere διετρίψαμενdietripsamenwe stayed ἡμέραςhēmerasdays . ἑπτάheptaseven
7ἘνEnOn δὲde- τῇtēthe μιᾷmiafirst [day] τῶνtōnof the σαββάτωνsabbatōnweek συνηγμένωνsynēgmenōncame together τῶνtōnof the μαθητῶνmathētōndisciples [was there] , κλάσαιklasaito break ἄρτονartonbread . ὁho- ΠαῦλοςPaulos[Since] Paul διελέγετοdielegetohe talked αὐτοῖςautoisto them μέλλωνmellōnwas ready ἐξιέναιexienaito leave τῇtēthe ἐπαύριονepaurionnext day , παρέτεινέpareteinekept on τῇtēthe τὸνton- λόγονlogonspeaking μέχριmechriuntil μεσονυκτίουmesonyktioumidnight .
8ἮσανĒsanthere were δὲdeNow λαμπάδεςlampadeslamps ἱκαναὶhikanaimany ἐνenin τῷtōthe ὑπερῴῳhyperōōupper room οὗhouwhere ἦμενēmenwe were συνηγμένοιsynēgmenoigathered .
9καθήμενοςkathēmenosseated δέdeAnd τιςtisa certain νεανίαςneaniasyoung man ὀνόματιonomatinamed ΕὔτυχοςEutychosEutychus , ἐπὶepiin τῆςtēsthe θυρίδοςthyridoswindow , καταφερόμενοςkatapheromenoswas sinking into ὕπνῳhypnōsleep βαθεῖbatheia deep διαλεγομένουdialegomenoutalked τοῦtou- ΠαύλουPaulouas Paul ἐπὶepion πλεῖονpleionand on . κατενεχθεὶςkatenechtheisWhen he was sound ἀπὸapo- τοῦtou- ὕπνουhypnouasleep , ἔπεσενepesenhe fell ἀπὸapofrom τοῦtouthe τριστέγουtristegouthird story κάτωkatō. . . καὶkaiand ἤρθηērthēwas picked up νεκρόςnekrosdead .
10καταβὰςkatabaswent down , δὲdeBut ὁho- ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul ἐπέπεσενepepesenthrew [himself] on αὐτῷautō[the young man] , καὶkaiand συμπεριλαβὼνsymperilabōnembraced [him] . εἰπὲeipesay ΜὴMē“ {Do} not θορυβεῖσθεthorybeisthebe alarmed ! ” ἡhē- γὰρgar“ - ψυχὴpsychēstill alive αὐτοῦautouHe ἐνen. . . αὐτῷautō. . . ! ” ἐστινestinis
11ἈναβὰςAnabas[Paul] went back upstairs , δὲdeThen καὶkai- κλάσαςklasasbroke ἄρτονartonbread , καὶkaiand γευσάμενοςgeusamenosate . ἐφ’eph’vvv ἱκανόνhikanonvvv τεteAnd ὁμιλήσαςhomilēsasafter speaking ἄχριςakhrisuntil αὐγῆςaugēsdaybreak , οὕτωςhoutōs- ἐξῆλθενexēlthenhe departed .
12ἤγαγονēgagonto take δὲde- τὸνtonthe παῖδαpaidaboy ζῶνταzōnta[home] alive . καὶkai- παρεκλήθησανpareklēthēsanrelieved οὐouvvv μετρίωςmetriōs[the people] {were} greatly
13ἩμεῖςHēmeisWe δὲde- προελθόντεςproelthonteswent on ahead ἐπὶepito τὸtothe πλοῖονploionship ἀνήχθημενanēchthēmen[and] sailed εἰςeisat τὴνtēn- ἎσσονAssonAssos , ἐκεῖθενekeithen[where] μέλλοντεςmellonteswe were to ἀναλαμβάνεινanalambaneintake τὸνton- ΠαῦλονPaulonPaul {aboard} . οὕτωhoutōso γὰρgar- ἦνēnbecause he was going there διατεταγμένοςdiatetagmenosHe had arranged μέλλωνmellōn. . . αὐτὸςautos. . . πεζεύεινpezeueinon foot .
14ὡςhōswhen δὲdeAnd συνέβαλενsunebalenhe met ἡμῖνhēminus εἰςeisat τὴνtēn- ἎσσονAssonAssos , ἀναλαβόντεςanalabonteswe took him aboard αὐτὸνauton. . . ἤλθομενēlthomen[and] went on εἰςeisto ΜιτυλήνηνMitylēnēnMitylene .
15κἀκεῖθενkakeithenfrom there , ἀποπλεύσαντεςapopleusantesSailing on τῇtēthe ἐπιούσῃepiousēnext [day] κατηντήσαμενkatēntēsamenwe arrived ἀντικρὺantikruopposite ΧίουChiouChios . τῇtēThe δὲde- ἑτέρᾳhetera[day] after that παρεβάλομενparebalomenwe arrived εἰςeisat ΣάμονSamonSamos , καὶkai- μείναντεςmeinantesremain ἐνen. . . ΤρωγυλίῳtrogulioTrogyllium τεteAnd ἐχομένῃechomenēfollowing [day] ἤλθομενēlthomenwe came εἰςeisto ΜίλητονMilētonMiletus .
16ἔκρινεekrinehad decided γὰρgar- ὁho- ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul παραπλεῦσαιparapleusaito sail past τὴνtēn- ἜφεσονEphesonEphesus ὅπωςhopōsto μὴmēvvv γένηταιgenētaiavoid αὐτῷautō. . . χρονοτριβῆσαιchronotribēsaispending time ἐνenin τῇtē- ἈσίᾳAsia[the province of] Asia , ἔσπευδεespeudehe was in a hurry γὰρgarbecause εἰeiif δυνατὸνdynatonpossible ἐνenin αὐτῷautō. . . τὴνtēn- ἡμέρανhēmeranday τῆςtēs- ΠεντηκοστῆςPentēkostēsof Pentecost . γενέσθαιgenesthaito reach εἰςeis. . . ἹεροσόλυμαHierosolymaJerusalem ,
17ἈπὸApoFrom δὲde- τῆςtēs- ΜιλήτουMilētouMiletus , πέμψαςpempsas[Paul] sent εἰςeisto ἜφεσονEphesonEphesus μετεκαλέσατοmetekalesato[for] τοὺςtousthe πρεσβυτέρουςpresbyterouselders τῆςtēsof the ἐκκλησίαςekklēsiaschurch .
18ὩςHōsWhen δὲde- παρεγένοντοparegenontothey came πρὸςprosto αὐτὸνautonhim , εἶπενeipenhe said αὐτοῖςautois- , ὙμεῖςHymeis“ You ἐπίστασθεepistastheknow ἀπὸapofrom πρώτηςprōtēsthe first ἡμέραςhēmerasday ἀφ’aph’- ἧςhēs- ἐπέβηνepebēnI arrived εἰςeisin τὴνtēn- ἈσίανAsian[the province of] Asia . πῶςpōshow μεθ’meth’[I was] with ὑμῶνhymōnyou , τὸνtonthe πάνταpantawhole χρόνονchronontime ἐγενόμηνegenomēnI lived
19δουλεύωνdouleuōnI served τῷtōthe ΚυρίῳKyriōLord μετὰmetawith πάσηςpasēsgreat ταπεινοφροσύνηςtapeinophrosynēshumility καὶkaiand πολλῶνpollōnthan many δακρύωνdakryōnwith tears , καὶkaiespecially πειρασμῶνpeirasmōnin the trials τῶνtōn. . . συμβάντωνsymbantōnthat came upon μοιmoime ἐνenthrough ταῖςtaisthe ἐπιβουλαῖςepiboulaisplots τῶνtōnof the ἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnJews .
20ὡςhōs- οὐδὲνouden[anything] ὑπεστειλάμηνhypesteilamēnI did not shrink back τῶνtōnthat συμφερόντωνsympherontōnwas helpful τοῦtou- μὴmēvvv ἀναγγεῖλαιanangeilaifrom declaring ὑμῖνhyminto you καὶkai[as] διδάξαιdidaxaiI taught ὑμᾶςhymasyou δημοσίᾳdēmosiapublicly καὶkaiand κατ’kat’from οἴκουςoikoushouse to house ,
21διαμαρτυρόμενοςdiamartyromenostestifying ἸουδαίοιςIoudaioisto Jews τεtealike καὶkaiand ἝλλησιellesiGreeks τὴνtēn- εἰςeisto τὸνton- ΘεὸνTheonGod μετάνοιανmetanoian{about} repentance καὶkaiand πίστινpistinfaith τὴνtēn- εἰςeisto τὸνton- ΚύριονKyrionLord ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus ΧριστόνChristonChrist .
22ΚαὶKaiAnd νῦνnynnow , ἰδοὺidouvvv ἐγὼegōI δεδεμένοςdedemenoscompelled τῷtōby the πνεύματιpneumatiSpirit , πορεύομαιporeuomaiam going εἰςeisto ἸερουσαλήμIerousalēmJerusalem , τὰtawhat ἐνenvvv αὐτῇautē[there] . συναντήσοντάsynantēsontawill happen μοι*moito me μὴmēnot εἰδώςeidōsknowing
23πλὴνplēn[I] only [know] ὅτιhotithat τὸto- ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit τὸtothe ἍγιονHagionHoly κατὰkatain town after town πόλινpolin. . . διαμαρτύρεταίdiamartyretaiwarns λέγονlegonvvv ὅτιhotithat δεσμὰdesmachains μεmeme . καὶkaiand θλίψειςthlipseisafflictions μένουσινmenousinawait
24ἀλλ’all’But οὐδενὸςoudenosof no λόγωνlogōnwords ποιοῦμαιpoioumaiI consider ΟὐδὲOude“ vvv ἔχωechōI have τὴνtēnmy ψυχὴνpsychēnlife μουmoumy τιμίανtimianvalue ἐμαυτῷemautōto me , ὡςhōsif only τελειῶσαι*teleiōsaiI may finish τὸνton- δρόμονdromoncourse μουmoumy μετὰmetawith χαρᾶςcharasjoy , καὶkaiand τὴνtēn- διακονίανdiakonianministry ἣνhēn- ἔλαβονelabonI have received παρὰparafrom τοῦtouthe ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus — διαμαρτύρασθαιdiamartyrasthai[ the ministry ] of testifying τὸtoto the εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongood news τῆςtēsof χάριτοςcharitosgrace . τοῦtouvvv ΘεοῦTheouGod’s
25ΚαὶKai- νῦνnynNow ἰδοὺidou- ἐγὼegōI οἶδαoidaknow ὅτιhotithat οὐκέτιouketi[again] . ὄψεσθεopsesthewill see τὸto- πρόσωπόνprosōponface μουmoumy ὑμεῖςhymeisyou πάντεςpantes[none of] ἐνenamong οἷςhoiswhom διῆλθονdiēlthonvvv κηρύσσωνkēryssōnI have preached τὴνtēnthe βασιλείανbasileiankingdom τοῦtouvvv ΘεοῦTheouGod’s
26διὸdioTherefore μαρτύρομαιmartyromaiI testify ὑμῖνhyminto you ἐνen- τῇtē- σήμερονsēmeronthis ἡμέρᾳhēmeraday ὅτιhotithat καθαρόςkatharosinnocent ἐγὼegōI ἀπὸapoof τοῦtouthe αἵματοςhaimatosblood πάντωνpantōnof all [men] .
27οὐouvvv γὰρgarFor ὑπεστειλάμηνhypesteilamēnI did not shrink back τοῦtou- μὴmēvvv ἀναγγεῖλαιanangeilaifrom declaring ὑμῖνhyminto you πᾶσανpasanwhole τὴνtēnthe βουλὴνboulēnwill τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God .
28ΠροσέχετεProsecheteKeep watch over οὖνountherefore , ἑαυτοῖςheautoisyourselves καὶkaiand παντὶpantientire τῷtōthe ποιμνίῳpoimniōflock ἐνenof ᾧhōwhich ὑμᾶςhymasyou τὸto- ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit τὸto- ἍγιονHagionHoly ἔθετοethetohas made ἐπισκόπουςepiskopousoverseers . ποιμαίνεινpoimaineinBe shepherds τὴνtēnof the ἐκκλησίανekklēsianchurch τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord καὶkaiand [ complete ] ΘεοῦTheouGod’s ἐνenamong περιεποιήσατοperiepoiēsatoHe purchased διὰdiawith τοῦtou[His] ἰδίουidiouown αἵματοςhaimatosblood .
29ἐγὼegōI γὰρgarFor οἶδαoidaknow τοῦτοtoutothis ? ” ὅτιhotithat εἰσελεύσονταιeiseleusontaiwill come in μετὰmetaafter τὴνtēn- ἄφιξίνaphixindeparture , μουmoumy λύκοιlykoiwolves βαρεῖςbareissavage εἰςeisamong ὑμᾶςhymasyou μὴmēvvv φειδόμενοιpheidomenoiand will not spare τοῦtouthe ποιμνίουpoimniouflock .
30καὶkaiEven ἐξexfrom ὑμῶνhymōnyour own αὐτῶνautōnnumber , ἀναστήσονταιanastēsontaiwill rise up ἄνδρεςandresmen λαλοῦντεςlalountes[the truth] διεστραμμέναdiestrammena[and] distort τοῦtou- ἀποσπᾶνapospanto draw away τοὺςtous- μαθητὰςmathētasdisciples ὀπίσωopisōafter αὐτῶνautōnnumber ,
31διὸdioTherefore γρηγορεῖτεgrēgoreitebe alert μνημονεύοντεςmnēmoneuontes[and] remember ὅτιhotithat τριετίανtrietianfor three years νύκταnyktanight καὶkaiand ἡμέρανhēmeranday οὐκoukvvv ἐπαυσάμηνepausamēnI never stopped μετὰmetawith δακρύωνdakryōntears . νουθετῶνnouthetōnwarning ἕναhena[of you] ἕκαστονhekastoneach
32καὶkaiand τὰta- νῦνnynnow παρατίθεμαιparatithemaiI commit ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἀδελφοὶadelphoibrothers τῷtōto θεῷ*theōGod καὶkaiand τῷtōto the λόγῳlogōword τῆςtēsof χάριτοςcharitosgrace , αὐτοῦautouHis τῷtōwhich δυναμένῳdynamenōcan ἐποικοδομῆσαιepoikodomesaito build καὶkaiand δοῦναιdounaigive ὑμῖνhyminyou κληρονομίανklēronomianan inheritance ἐνenamong τοῖςtoiswho ἡγιασμένοιςhēgiasmenoisare sanctified . πᾶσινpasinall
33ἈργυρίουArgyriousilver ἢēor χρυσίουchrysiougold ἢēor ἱματισμοῦhimatismouclothing . οὐδενὸςoudenosanyone’s ἐπεθύμησαepethymēsaI have not coveted
34αὐτοὶautoiYou yourselves γινώσκετεginōsketeknow ὅτιhotithat ταῖςtais[own] χρείαιςchreiaisneeds μουmoumy καὶkaiand [those of] τοῖςtoismy companions οὖσιousi. . . μετ’met’. . . ἐμοῦemou. . . . ὑπηρέτησανhypēretēsanhave ministered to αἱhai- χεῖρεςcheireshands [of mine] αὗταιhautaithese
35πάνταpantaIn everything , ὑπέδειξαhypedeixaI showed ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhotithat οὕτωhoutōso κοπιῶνταςkopiōntasof hard work δεῖdeiwe must ἀντιλαμβάνεσθαιantilambanesthaihelp τῶνtōnthe ἀσθενούντωνasthenountōnweak , μνημονεύεινmnēmoneueinremembering τεte- τῶνtōnthe λόγωνlogōnwords τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ὅτιhoti- αὐτὸςautosHimself εἰπὲeipesay ΜακάριόνMakarionblessed ἐστίestiI have μᾶλλονmallonmore διδόναιdidonaito give ἢēthan λαμβάνεινlambaneinto receive . ’ ”
36ΚαὶKai[When] ταῦταtautathis , εἰπὼνeipōn[Paul] had said θεὶςtheishe knelt down τὰta. . . γόναταgonata. . . αὐτοῦautou. . . σὺνsynwith πᾶσινpasinall αὐτοῖςautoisof them προσηύξατοprosēuxato[and] prayed .
37ἱκανὸςhikanosopenly δὲde- ἐγένετοegenetovvv κλαυθμὸςklauthmoswept πάντωνpantōnThey all καὶkai[as] ἐπιπεσόντεςepipesontesthey embraced ἐπὶepi. . . τὸνton. . . τράχηλονtrachēlon. . . τοῦtou. . . ΠαύλουPaulouPaul κατεφίλουνkatephiloun[and] kissed αὐτόνautonhim .
38ὀδυνώμενοιodynōmenoiThey were especially grieved μάλισταmalista. . . ἐπὶepiby τῷtō- λόγῳlogōvvv ᾧhōvvv εἰρήκειeirēkeihis statement ὅτιhotithat οὐκέτιouketi[again] . μέλλουσιmellousithey would [never] τὸto- πρόσωπονprosōponface αὐτοῦautouhis θεωρεῖνtheōreinsee προέπεμπονproepemponthey accompanied δὲdeThen αὐτὸνautonhim εἰςeisto τὸtothe πλοῖονploionship .
