2τρέχειtrecheirunning οὖνounSo καὶkai- ἔρχεταιerchetaishe came πρὸςprosto ΣίμωναSimōnaSimon ΠέτρονPetronPeter καὶkaiand πρὸςpros- τὸνtonthe ἄλλονallonother μαθητὴνmathētēndisciple , ὃνhonthe one whom ἐφίλειephileiloved . ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus καὶkaiand λέγειlegeishe said αὐτοῖςautois- , ἮρανĒran“ They have taken τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord ἐκekout of τοῦtouthe μνημείουmnēmeioutomb , ” καὶkai- οὐκoukvvv οἴδαμενoidamenwe do not know ποῦpouwhere ἔθηκανethēkanthey have put αὐτόνautonHim ! ”

4ἔτρεχονetrechonwere running δὲde- οἱhoiThe δύοdyotwo ὁμοῦhomoutogether , καὶkai[but] ὁhothe ἄλλοςallosother μαθητὴςmathētēsdisciple προέδραμεproedrameoutran τάχιονtachion. . . τοῦtou- ΠέτρουPetrouPeter καὶkaiand ἔλθῃelthēshould come πρῶτοςprōtosfirst . εἰςeis. . . τὸtothe μνημεῖονmnēmeiontomb
5καὶkai- παρακύψαςparakypsasHe bent down βλέπειblepei[and] looked in at κείμεναkeimenalying [there] , τὰtathe ὀθόνιαothonialinen cloths οὐouvvv μέντοιmentoibut εἰσῆλθενeisēlthenhe did not go in .
6ἜρχεταιErchetaiarrived οὖνoun- ΣίμωνSimōnSimon ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ἀκολουθῶνakolouthōnafter αὐτῷautōhim . καὶkai- εἰσῆλθενeisēlthenHe entered εἰςeis. . . τὸtothe μνημεῖονmnēmeiontomb καὶkaiand θεωρεῖtheōreisaw τὰtathe ὀθόνιαothonialinen cloths κείμεναkeimenalying [there] .
7καὶkai- τὸtoThe σουδάριονsoudarioncloth ὃhothat ἦνēnhad been ἐπὶepiaround τῆςtēs- κεφαλῆςkephalēshead αὐτοῦautou[Jesus’] οὐou- μετὰmetafrom τῶνtōnthe ὀθονίωνothoniōnlinen cloths . κείμενονkeimenonlying ἀλλὰalla- χωρὶςchōris. . . ἐντετυλιγμένονentetyligmenonwas rolled up , εἰςeisvvv ἕναhenavvv τόπονtoponseparate
8τότεtote. . . οὖνounThen εἰσέλθῃeiselthēwill never enter καὶkaialso ὁhowho ἄλλοςallosother μαθητὴςmathētēsdisciple , ὁhowho ἐλθὼνelthōnhad reached πρῶτοςprōtosfirst , εἰςeis. . . τὸtothe μνημεῖονmnēmeiontomb καὶkaialso εἶδεeidesaw καὶkaialso ἐπίστευσενepisteusenbelieved .
9οὐδέπωoudepōvvv γὰρgarFor ᾔδεισανēdeisanthey still did not understand τὴνtēnfrom the γραφὴνgraphēnScripture ὅτιhotithat δεῖdeihad to αὐτὸνauton[Jesus] ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead . ἀναστῆναιanastēnairise
10ἈπῆλθονApēlthonreturned οὖνounThen πάλινpalin. . . πρὸςprosto ἑαυτούςheautousthemselves , οἱhoithe μαθηταίmathētaidisciples
11ΜαρίαMariaMary δὲdeBut εἱστήκειheistēkeistood πρὸςpros- τῷtōthe μνημείῳmnēmeiōtomb κλαίουσαklaiousaweeping . ἔξωexōoutside
12ὡςhōsas οὖνoun[And] ἔκλαιε,eklaie[and] wept . παρέκυψενparekypsenshe bent down εἰςeis[to look] into τὸtothe μνημεῖονmnēmeiontomb , καὶkaiand θεωρεῖtheōreishe saw δύοdyotwo ἀγγέλουςangelousangels ἐνenin λευκοῖςleukoiswhite καθεζομένουςkathezomenoussitting ἕναhenaone πρὸςprosat τῇtēthe κεφαλῇkephalēhead καὶkaiand ἕναhena[the other] πρὸςprosat τοῖςtoisthe ποσίνposinfeet . ὅπουhopouwhere ἔκειτοekeitohad lain , τὸtothe σῶμαsōmabody τοῦtou- ἸησοῦIēsouof Jesus
13καὶkaiand λέγουσινlegousinasked αὐτῇautē- . ἐκεῖνοιekeinoithey ΓύναιGynai“ Woman , τίtiwhy κλαίειςklaieisare you weeping ? ” ΛέγειLegeishe said αὐτοῖςautois. . . , ὍτιHoti“ Because ἮρανĒranthey have taken τὸνton- ΚύριόνKyrionLord {away} , ” μουmoumy καὶkai“ and οὐκoukvvv οἶδαoidaI do not know ποῦpouwhere ἔθηκανethēkanthey have put αὐτόνautonHim . ”
14καὶkai“ and ΤαῦταTautathis , εἰποῦσαeipousaWhen she had said ἐστράφηestraphēshe turned εἰςeis. . . τὰta- ὀπίσωopisōaround καὶkaiand θεωρεῖtheōreisaw τὸνton- ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus ἑστῶταhestōtastanding [there] ; καὶkai[but] οὐκoukvvv ᾔδειēdeishe did not recognize ὅτιhotithat ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus . ἐστι.estiis
15λέγειlegeiasked αὐτῇautē- . ὁhothe ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΓύναιGynai“ Woman , τίtiwhy κλαίειςklaieisare you weeping ? ” τίναtina“ Whom ζητεῖςzēteisare you seeking ? ” ἘκείνηEkeinēshe δοκοῦσαdokousaThinking ὅτιhoti- ὁhothe κηπουρόςkēpourosgardener , ἐστι,estiis λέγειlegeisaid αὐτῷautō. . . , ΚύριεKyrie“ Sir , εἰeiif σὺsyyou ἐβάστασαςebastasashave carried Him off αὐτόνauton. . . , εἰπέeipetell μοιmoime ποῦpouwhere ἔθηκαςethēkasyou have put αὐτόνautonHim , κἀγὼkagōand I αὐτόνautonHim , ἀρῶarōwill get Him
16ΛέγειLegeisaid αὐτῇautēto her , ὃho( which ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΜαρίαMariaMary ΣτραφεῖσαStrapheisaturned ἐκείνηekeinēShe λέγειlegei[and] said αὐτῷautōto Him ΡαββουνιRabbouni“ Rabboni ! ” ὃho( which λέγεταιlegetaimeans ΔιδάσκαλεDidaskale“Teacher” ) .
17ΛέγειLegeisaid αὐτῇautē- , ὃho( which ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΜήMē“ {Do} not μουmouMe , ” ἅπτουhaptoucling to οὔπωoupōvvv γὰρgar“ for ἀναβέβηκαanabebēkaI have not yet ascended πρὸςprosto τὸνtonthe ΠατέραPateraFather . μουmouMy πορεύουporeuougo δὲdeBut πρὸςpros- τοὺςtous- ἀδελφούςadelphousbrothers , μουmouMy καὶkaiand εἰπὲeipetell αὐτοῖςautois- ἈναβαίνωAnabainō‘ I am ascending πρὸςprosto τὸνton- ΠατέραPateraFather μουmouMy καὶkaiand ΠατέραPateraFather ὑμῶνhymōnyour καὶkaiand ΘεόνTheonGod μουmouto My καὶkai- ΘεόνTheonGod ὑμῶνhymōnyour
18ἜρχεταιErchetaiwent ΜαρίαMariaMary ἡhē- ΜαγδαληνὴMagdalēnēMagdalene ἀπαγγέλλουσαapaggellousaand announced τοῖςtoisto the μαθηταῖςmathētaisdisciples ὅτιhoti- , ἑώρακεeorakehe had seen τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord ! ” καὶkaiAnd [she told them] ταῦταtauta[what] εἶπενeipenHe had said αὐτῇautēto her .
19ΟὔσηςOusēsIt was οὖνoun- ὀψίαςopsiasevening , τῇtē[and that] ἡμέρᾳhēmeraday ἐκείνῃekeinēvery τῇtē[and that] μιᾷmiafirst σαββάτωνsabbatōnof [the] week , καὶkaiwith τῶνtōnthe θυρῶνthyrōndoors κεκλεισμένωνkekleismenōnlocked ὅπουhopouwhile ἦσανēsanwere [together] οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples συνηγμένοιsynēgmenoigather together διὰdiafor τὸνton- φόβονphobonfear τῶνtōnof the ἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnJews , ἦλθενēlthencame ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus καὶkaiand ἔστηestēstood εἰςeisvvv τὸtovvv μέσονmesonamong them . καὶkai- λέγειlegeiHe said αὐτοῖςautoisto them . ΕἰρήνηEirēnē“ Peace [be] ὑμῖνhyminwith you ! ”
20καὶkai- τοῦτοtoutothis , εἰπὼνeipōnHe had said ἔδειξενedeixenHe showed αὐτοῖςautoisthem τὰςtasHis χεῖραςcheirashands καὶkaiand τὴνtēnHis πλευρὰνpleuranside . αὐτοῦautouHis ἘχάρησανEcharēsanrejoiced οὖνoun- οἱhoiThe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples ἰδόντεςidonteswhen they saw τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord .
21ΕἶπενEipensaid οὖνoun- αὐτοῖςautoisto them , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus πάλινpalinAgain ΕἰρήνηEirēnē“ Peace [be] ὑμῖνhyminwith you . καθὼςkathōsAs ἀπέσταλκέapestalkeHe has sent μεme. . . , ὁhothe ΠατήρPatērFather κἀγὼkagōso also I πέμπωpempōam sending ὑμᾶςhymasyou . ”
22καὶkai[When] τοῦτοtoutothis , εἰπὼνeipōnHe had said ἐνεφύσησεenephuseseHe breathed on [them] καὶkai[When] λέγειlegeisaid αὐτοῖςautois. . . , ΛάβετεLabete“ Receive ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit . ἍγιονHagion[the] Holy
23ἄνanIf τινωνtinōnanyone his ἀφῆτεaphēteyou forgive τὰςtas- ἁμαρτίαςhamartiassins , ἀφίενταίaphientaiare forgiven . ” αὐτοῖςautois. . . ; ἄνanif τινωνtinōnfrom anyone , κρατῆτεkratēteyou withhold [forgiveness] κεκράτηνταιkekratēntaiit is withheld . ”
24ΘωμᾶςThōmasThomas δὲdeNow εἷςheisone ἐκekof τῶνtōnthe δώδεκαdōdekaTwelve , ὁho- λεγόμενοςlegomenoscalled ΔίδυμοςDidymosDidymus , οὐκouknot ἦνēnwas μετ’met’with αὐτῶνautōn[the disciples] ὅτεhotewhen ἦλθενēlthencame . ὉHo- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus
25ἔλεγονelegontold οὖνounSo αὐτῷautōhim , οἱhoithe ἄλλοιalloiother μαθηταίmathētaidisciples ἙωράκαμενHeōrakamen“ We have seen τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord ! ” ὉHo- δὲdeBut εἶπενeipenhe replied αὐτοῖςautois. . . , ἘὰνEan“ Unless μὴmē. . . ἴδωidōI see ἐνenin ταῖςtais- χερσὶνchersinhands , αὐτοῦautouHis τῶνtōn- τύπονtyponmarks τῶνtōn- ἥλωνhēlōnnail καὶkaiand βάλωbalōput τὸνton- δάκτυλόνdaktylonfinger μουmoumy εἰςeis[where] τὸνtonthe τύπον*typon- τῶνtōn- ἥλωνhēlōnnails [have been] , καὶkaiand βάλωbalōput τὴνtēn- χεῖραcheirahand μουmoumy εἰςeisinto τὴνtēn- πλευρὰνpleuranside , αὐτοῦautouHis οὐouvvv μὴmēvvv πιστεύσωpisteusōI will never believe . ”
26ΚαὶKai- μεθ’meth’later , ἡμέραςhēmerasdays ὀκτὼoktōEight πάλινpalinonce again ἦσανēsanwere ἔσωesōinside οἱhoi- μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples αὐτοῦautouHis ΚαὶKai- ΘωμᾶςThōmasThomas μετ’met’[was] with αὐτῶνautōnthem . ἔρχεταιerchetaicame ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τῶνtōn[with] the θυρῶνthyrōndoors κεκλεισμένωνkekleismenōnlocked , καὶkaiand ἔστηestēstood εἰςeisvvv τὸtovvv μέσονmesonamong them καὶkaiand εἶπενeipensaid , ΕἰρήνηEirēnē“ Peace [be] ὑμῖνhyminwith you . ”
27εἶταeitaThen λέγειlegei[Jesus] said τῷtō- ΘωμᾷThōmato Thomas , ΦέρεPhere“ Put τὸνton- δάκτυλόνdaktylonfinger σουsouyour ὧδεhōdehere καὶkaiand ἴδεidelook at τὰςtas- χεῖράςcheirashands . μουmouMy καὶkaiand ΦέρεPhere“ Put τὴνtēn- χεῖράcheirahand σουsouyour καὶkai- βάλεbaleput [it] εἰςeisinto τὴνtēn- πλευράνpleuranside . μουmouMy καὶkai- μὴmēvvv γίνουginouvvv ἄπιστοςapistosStop doubting ἀλλὰallaand πιστόςpistosbelieve . ”

29ΛέγειLegeisaid αὐτῷautōto him , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ὍτιHoti“ Because ἑώρακάςheōrakasyou have seen μεmeMe , πεπίστευκαςpepisteukasyou have believed ; μακάριοιmakarioiblessed [are] οἱhoithose who μὴmēvvv ἰδόντεςidonteshave not seen καὶkaiand yet πιστεύσαντεςpisteusanteshave believed . ”

31ταῦταtautathese δὲdeBut γέγραπταιgegraptaiare written ἵναhinaso that πιστεύσητεpisteusēteyou will not believe . ὅτιhotithat ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἐστινestinis ὁhothe ΧριστὸςChristosChrist , ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God , καὶkaiand ἵναhinathat πιστεύοντεςpisteuontesby believing ζωὴνzōēnlife ἔχητεechēteyou may have ἐνenin τῷtō- ὀνόματιonomatiname . αὐτοῦautouHis
