1καὶkaiand ἘγὼEgō“ I ἀδελφοὶadelphoibrothers οὐκouknot ἠδυνήθηνēdynēthēncould not λαλῆσαιlalēsaiaddress ὑμῖνhyminyou ὡςhōsas πνευματικοῖςpneumatikoisspiritual , ἀλλ’all’but ὡςhōsas σαρκίνοιςsarkinoisworldly — ὡςhōsas νηπίοιςnēpioisinfants ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist .
2γάλαgalamilk , ὑμᾶςhymasvvv ἐπότισαepotisaI gave you καὶkaiand οὐounot βρῶμαbrōmasolid food , οὔπωoupōvvv γὰρgarfor ἐδύνασθεedynastheyou were not yet ready [for solid food] . Ἀλλ’All’In fact , οὔτεouteneither ἔτιetistill νῦνnynvvv δύνασθεdynastheyou are still not ready , ἔτιetivvv γὰρgarfor σαρκικοίsarkikoiworldly . ἐστεesteyou are
3ὅπουhopousince [there is] γὰρgarFor ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhyminyou , ζῆλοςzēlosjealousy καὶkaiand ἔριςerisdissension καὶkaiand διχοστασίαι,dikhostasiaidivisions οὐχὶouchinot σαρκικοίsarkikoiworldly ? ἐστεesteare you καὶkai[ Are you not ] κατὰkatain the way of ἄνθρωπονanthrōponman ? περιπατεῖτεperipateitewalking
4ὅτανhotanwhen γὰρgarFor λέγῃlegēsays , τιςtisone [of you] ἘγὼEgō“ I μένmen- εἰμιeimi[follow] ΠαύλουPaulouPaul , ” ἕτεροςheterosanother , δέdeand ἘγὼEgō“ I ἈπολλῶApollō[follow] Apollos , ” οὐχὶouchinot σαρκικοίsarkikoiworldly ? ἐστεesteare you
5τιςtisone [of you] οὖνounthen ἐστίestiI have ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul ? τιςtisone [of you] δέdeand ἈπολλῶςApollōsApollos ? ἀλλ’all’but [only] the διάκονοιdiakonoi[They are] servants δι’di’through ὧνhōnwhom ἐπιστεύσατεepisteusateyou believed , καὶkai- ἑκάστῳhekastōto each [ his role ] . ὡςhōsas hothe ΚύριοςKyriosLord ἔδωκενedōkenhas assigned
6ἐγὼegōI ἐφύτευσαephyteusaplanted [the seed] ἈπολλῶςApollōs[and] Apollos ἐπότισενepotisenwatered [it] , ἀλλ’all’but [only] howho ΘεόςTheosGod , ηὔξανενēuxanenmade [ it ] grow .
7ὥστεhōsteSo οὔτεouteneither hohe who φυτεύωνphyteuōnplants ἐστίestiI have τιtianything , οὔτεoutenor hohe who ποτίζωνpotizōnwaters ἀλλ’all’but [only] howho αὐξάνωνauxanōnmakes [things] grow . ΘεόςTheosGod ,
8howho φυτεύωνphyteuōnplants δὲde- καὶkaiand hohe who ποτίζωνpotizōnwaters ἕνhenone [ in purpose ] , εἰσινeisinare ἕκαστοςhekastoseach δὲdeand τὸνton. . . ἴδιονidion. . . μισθὸνmisthon. . . λήψεταιlepsetaiwill receive κατὰkataaccording to τὸνton[his] ἴδιονidionown κόπονkoponlabor .
9ΘεοῦTheouGod’s γάρgarFor ἐσμενesmenwe are συνεργοίsynergoifellow workers ; ΘεοῦTheouGod’s γεώργιονgeōrgionfield , ΘεοῦTheouGod’s οἰκοδομήoikodomēbuilding . ἐστεesteyou are
10ΚατὰKataBy τὴνtēnthe χάρινcharingrace τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod τὴνtēn- δοθεῖσάνdotheisanhas given μοιmoime , ὡςhōsas σοφὸςsophosan expert ἀρχιτέκτωνarchitektōnbuilder , θεμέλιονthemelion[a] foundation τέθεικάtetheika“ I have made ἄλλοςallossomeone else δὲdeand ἐποικοδομεῖepoikodomeiis building on [it] . ἕκαστοςhekastoseach one δὲdeBut βλεπέτωblepetōmust be careful πῶςpōshow ἐποικοδομεῖepoikodomeihe builds .
11θεμέλιονthemelionfoundation γὰρgarFor ἄλλονallona οὐδεὶςoudeisno one δύναταιdynataican θεῖναιtheinailay παρὰparaother than τὸνtonthe [one] κείμενονkeimenonalready laid , ὅςhoswhich ἐστινestinis ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΧριστόςChristosChrist .
12ΕἰEiIf δέde- τιςtisanyone ἐποικοδομεῖepoikodomeibuilds ἐπὶepion τὸνton[this] θεμέλιονthemelionfoundation τοῦτονtoutonhim ; χρυσόν*chryson[using] gold , ἄργυρονargyronsilver , λίθουςlithousstones , τιμίουςtimiousprecious ξύλαxylawood , χόρτονchortonhay , καλάμηνkalamēn[or] straw ,
13ἑκάστουhekastouhis τὸto- ἔργονergonworkmanship φανερὸνphaneronevident , γενήσεταιgenēsetaiwill be the γὰρgarbecause ἡμέραhēmeraDay δηλώσειdēlōseiwill bring it to light . ὅτιhoti- ἐνenwith πυρὶpyrifire , ἀποκαλύπτεταιapokalyptetaiIt will be revealed καὶkaiand ἑκάστουhekastouof each τὸto[man’s] ἔργονergonwork . ὁποῖόνhopoionthe quality ἐστίestiI have τὸto[man’s] πῦρpyrfire δοκιμάσειdokimaseiwill prove
14εἴeiIf τινοςtinosvvv τὸto- ἔργονergonvvv μενεῖmeneisurvives , hovvv ἐπῳκοδόμησε,epokodomesewhat he has built μισθὸνmisthona reward . λήψεται·lepsetaiwill receive
15εἴeiIf τινοςtinos[it] τὸtovvv ἔργονergonvvv κατακαήσεταιkatakaēsetaiis burned up , ζημιωθήσεταιzēmiōthēsetaihe will suffer loss . αὐτὸςautosHe himself δὲde- σωθήσεταιsōthēsetaiwill be saved , οὕτωςhoutōs- δὲdebut only ὡςhōsas if διὰdiathrough πυρόςpyros[the] flames .
16ΟὐκOukvvv οἴδατεoidateDo you not know ὅτιhotithat ναὸςnaostemple , ΘεοῦTheouGod’s ἐστεesteyou yourselves are καὶkaiand that τὸto- ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod’s οἰκεῖoikeidwells «ἐνenin ὑμῖν»hyminyou ?
17εἴeiIf τιςtisanyone τὸνton- ναὸνnaontemple , τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod’s φθείρειphtheireidestroys φθερεῖphthereiwill destroy τοῦτονtoutonhim ; ho- ΘεόςTheosGod ho- γὰρgarfor ναὸςnaostemple τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod’s ἅγιόςhagiosholy , ἐστινestinis οἵτινέςhoitines[that temple] . ἐστεesteare ὑμεῖςhymeis[and] you
18ΜηδεὶςMēdeis{Let} no one ἑαυτὸνheautonhimself . ἐξαπατάτωexapatatōdeceive εἴeiIf τιςtisany δοκεῖdokeithinks σοφὸςsophoswise εἶναιeinaihe is ἐνenin ὑμῖνhyminyou ἐνenof τῷ- αἰῶνιaiōniage , τούτῳtoutōthis μωρὸςmōrosa fool , γενέσθωgenesthōhe should become ἵναhinaso that γένηταιgenētaihe may become σοφόςsophoswise .
19the γὰρgarFor σοφίαsophiawisdom τοῦtou- κόσμουkosmouworld τούτουtoutouof this μωρίαmōriafoolishness παρὰparain God’s sight τῷ. . . ΘεῷTheō. . . . ἐστίestiI have γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written : γάρgar[As] Ho“ He δρασσόμενοςdrassomenoscatches τοὺςtousthe σοφοὺςsophouswise ἐνenin τῇ- πανουργίᾳpanourgiacraftiness .” αὐτῶνautōntheir
20καὶkaiAnd πάλινpalinagain , ΚύριοςKyrios“ [The] Lord γινώσκειginōskeiknows τοὺςtousthe διαλογισμοὺςdialogismousthoughts τῶνtōnof the σοφῶνsophōnwise ὅτιhotithat εἰσὶeisiare μάταιοιmataioifutile .”
21ὭστεHōsteTherefore , μηδεὶςmēdeisstop καυχάσθωkauchasthōboasting ἐνenin ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoismen . πάνταpantaAll things γὰρgar- ὑμῶνhymōnyours , ἐστινestinare
22εἴτεeitewhether ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul εἴτεeiteor ἈπολλῶςApollōsApollos εἴτεeiteor ΚηφᾶςKēphasCephas εἴτεeiteor κόσμοςkosmos[the] world εἴτεeiteor ζωὴzōēlife εἴτεeiteor θάνατοςthanatosdeath εἴτεeiteor ἐνεστῶταenestōtathe present εἴτεeiteor μέλλονταmellontathe future . πάνταpantaAll [of them] ὑμῶνhymōn[belong to] you , ἐστινestinare
23ὑμεῖςhymeisyou δὲdeand ΧριστοῦChristou[belong to] Christ , ΧριστὸςChristosChrist δὲdeand ΘεοῦTheou[belongs to] God .
