2συνεκόμισανsynekomisanburied δὲde- τὸνton- ΣτέφανονStephanonStephen ἄνδρεςandresmen εὐλαβεῖςeulabeisGod-fearing καὶkaiand ἐποίησανepoiēsanvvv κοπετὸνkopetonmourned deeply μέγανmeganvvv ἐπ’ep’over αὐτῷautōhim .
3ΣαῦλοςSaulosSaul δὲdeBut ἐλυμαίνετοelymainetobegan to destroy τὴνtēnthe ἐκκλησίανekklēsianchurch . κατὰkatafrom house to house τοὺςtous. . . οἴκουςoikous. . . , εἰσπορευόμενοςeisporeuomenosGoing σύρωνsyrōnhe dragged off τεte- ἄνδραςandrasmen καὶkaiand γυναῖκαςgynaikaswomen παρεδίδουparedidou[and] put [them] εἰςeisin φυλακήνphylakēnprison .
4ΟἱHoiThose who μὲνmen- οὖνoun- διασπαρέντεςdiasparenteshad been scattered διῆλθονdiēlthonwherever they went . εὐαγγελιζόμενοιeuangelizomenoipreached τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword
5ΦίλιπποςPhilipposPhilip δὲde- κατελθὼνkatelthōnwent down εἰςeisto πόλινpolin[a] city τῆςtēs- ΣαμαρείαςSamareias[in] Samaria ἐκήρυσσενekēryssen[and] proclaimed αὐτοῖςautoisto them . τὸνtonthe ΧριστόνChristonChrist
6προσεῖχονproseichongave their undivided attention δὲde- οἱhoiThe ὄχλοιochloicrowds τοῖςtois- λεγομένοιςlegomenoismessage ὑπὸhypovvv τοῦtouvvv ΦιλίππουPhilippouto Philip’s ὁμοθυμαδὸνhomothymadonvvv ἐνenvvv τῷtō. . . ἀκούεινakouein. . . αὐτοὺςautous. . . καὶkaiand βλέπεινblepeinthey saw τὰtato the σημεῖαsēmeiasigns ἃha- ἐποίειepoieihim perform .
7πολλῶνpollōnthan many γὰρgar- τῶνtōnwho ἐχόντωνechontōnwere possessed , πνεύματαpneumataspirits ἀκάθαρταakathartaunclean βοῶνταboōntavvv φωνῇphōnēWith loud shrieks , μεγάλῃmegalēvvv ἐξήρχετοexērchetowas coming πολλοὶpolloimany δὲdeand παραλελυμένοιparalelymenoi[of the] paralyzed καὶkaiand χωλοὶchōloilame ἐθεραπεύθησανetherapeuthēsanwere healed .
8καὶkaiand ἐγένετοegenetothere was πολλὴpollēgreat χαρὰcharajoy ἐνenin τῇtē- πόλειpoleicity . ἐκείνῃekeinēthat
9ἈνὴρAnērman δέde- τιςtisa ὀνόματιonomatinamed ΣίμωνSimōnSimon προϋπῆρχενproupērchenPrior to that time , ἐνenin τῇtē- πόλειpoleicity . μαγεύωνmageuōnhad practiced sorcery καὶkaiand ἐξιστῶνexistonastounded τὸtothe ἔθνοςethnospeople τῆςtēs- ΣαμαρείαςSamareiasof Samaria . λέγωνlegōnHe claimed εἶναίeinaito be τιναtinasomeone ἑαυτὸνheauton. . . μέγανmegangreat ,
10ᾧhō. . . προσεῖχονproseichonheeded [ his words ] πάντεςpantes[and] all [the people] , ἀπὸapofrom μικροῦmikrouthe least ἕωςheōsto μεγάλουmegalouthe greatest , λέγοντεςlegontes[and] said , ΟὗτόςHoutos“ This [man] ἐστινestinis ἡhēthe δύναμιςdynamispower τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheoudivine ἡhē- ΜεγάληMegalē[the] Great [Power] . ”
11προσεῖχονproseichonThey paid close attention δὲde- αὐτῷautōto him διὰdiabecause τὸtofor a ἱκανῷhikanōlong χρόνῳchronōtime ταῖςtaiswith [his] μαγείαις*mageiaissorcery . ἐξεστακέναιexestakenaihe had astounded αὐτούςautousthem
12ὍτεHotewhen δὲdeBut ἐπίστευσανepisteusanthey believed τῷtō- ΦιλίππῳPhilippōPhilip εὐαγγελιζομένῳeuangelizomenōas he preached the gospel περὶperiof τῆςtēsthe βασιλείαςbasileiaskingdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God καὶkaiand τοῦtouthe ὀνόματοςonomatosname ἸησοῦIēsouof Jesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , ἐβαπτίζοντοebaptizontothey were baptized , ἄνδρεςandresmen τεteboth καὶkaiand γυναῖκεςgynaikeswomen .
13ὁho- δὲde- ΣίμωνSimōnSimon καὶkaiEven αὐτὸςautoshimself ἐπίστευσε,episteusebelieved καὶkaiand βαπτισθεὶςbaptistheiswas baptized . ἦνēnvvv προσκαρτερῶνproskarterōnHe followed τῷtō- ΦιλίππῳPhilippōPhilip {closely} θεωρῶνtheōrōnhe observed τεteand δυνάμειςdynameismiracles καὶkaiand σημεῖαsēmeiasigns γινόμεναginomenawas happening , ἐξίστατοexistatowas astounded
14ἈκούσαντεςAkousantesheard δὲde[When] οἱhoithe ἐνenin ἹεροσολύμοιςHierosolymoisJerusalem ἀπόστολοιapostoloiapostles ὅτιhotithat δέδεκταιdedektaihad received ἡhē- ΣαμάρειαSamareiaSamaria τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God , ἀπέστειλανapesteilanthey sent πρὸςprosto αὐτοὺςautousthem . τὸνtonthe ΠέτρονPetronPeter καὶkaiand ἸωάννηνIōannēnJohn
15οἵτινεςhoitinesvvv καταβάντεςkatabantesOn their arrival , προσηύξαντοprosēuxantothey prayed περὶperifor αὐτῶνautōnthem ὅπωςhopōsto λάβωσιlabosireceive ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit . ἍγιονHagion[the] Holy
16οὔπωoupōvvv γὰρgarFor ἦνēn[the Holy Spirit] had ἐπ’ep’upon οὐδενὶoudeniany αὐτῶνautōnof them ; ἐπιπεπτωκόςepipeptōkosfallen μόνονmonon. . . δὲde- βεβαπτισμένοιbebaptismenoibaptized ὑπῆρχονhypērchonthey had simply been εἰςeisinto τὸtothe ὄνομαonomaname τοῦtouof the κυρίουkyriouLord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus .
17τότεtoteThen ἐπετίθουνepetithoun[Peter and John] laid τὰςtas[their] χεῖραςcheirashands ἐπ’ep’on αὐτούςautousthem , καὶkaiand ἐλάμβανονelambanonthey received ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit . ἍγιονHagion[the] Holy
18ἸδὼνIdōnsaw δὲde[When] ὁho- ΣίμωνSimōnSimon ὅτιhotithat διὰdiathrough τῆςtēsthe ἐπιθέσεωςepitheseōslaying on τῶνtōnof the χειρῶνcheirōnhands , τῶνtōn- ἀποστόλωνapostolōnapostles’ δίδοταιdidotaiwas given τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit τὸtothe ἍγιονHagion[the] Holy προσήνεγκενprosēnenkenhe offered αὐτοῖςautoisthem χρήματαchrēmatamoney .
19λέγωνlegōnhe said , ΔότεDote“ Give {me} κἀμοὶkamoias well , ” τὴνtēn- ἐξουσίανexousianpower ταύτηνtautēnthis ἵναhina“ so that ᾧhōeveryone on whom ἐὰνean. . . ἐπιθῶepithōI lay τὰςtas[my] χεῖραςcheirashands λαμβάνῃlambanēmay receive ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit . ” ἍγιονHagion[the] Holy
20ΠέτροςPetrosPeter δὲdeBut εἰπὲeipesay πρὸςpros- αὐτόνauton- , ΤὸTo- ἀργύριόνargyrionsilver σουsou“ {May} your σὺνsynwith σοὶsoiyou , εἴηeiēperish εἰςeis. . . ἀπώλειανapōleian. . . ὅτιhotibecause τὴνtēnthe δωρεὰνdōreangift τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God ἐνόμισαςenomisasyou thought διὰdiawith χρημάτωνchrēmatōnmoney ! κτᾶσθαιktasthaiyou could buy
21οὐκoukno ἐστίestiI have σοιsoiYou μερὶςmerispart οὐδὲoude[or] κλῆροςklērosshare ἐνenin τῷtō[our] λόγῳlogōministry , τούτῳtoutō- ἡhē- γὰρgarbecause καρδίαkardiaheart σουsouyour οὐκouknot ἔστινestinis εὐθεῖαeutheiaright ἐνώπιονenōpionin the sight τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod .
22μετανόησονmetanoēsonRepent , οὖνountherefore , ἀπὸapoof τῆςtēs- κακίαςkakiaswickedness , σουsouyour ταύτηςtautēs- καὶkaiand δεήθητιdeēthētipray to τοῦtouthe ΘεοῦTheouGod . εἰeivvv ἄραaraPerhaps ἀφεθήσεταίaphethēsetaiHe will forgive σοιsoiyou ἡhēfor the ἐπίνοιαepinoiaintent τῆςtēsof καρδίαςkardiasheart . σουsouyour
23εἰςeis- γὰρgarFor χολὴνcholēnpoisoned πικρίαςpikriasby bitterness καὶkaiand σύνδεσμονsyndesmoncaptive ἀδικίαςadikiasto iniquity . ” ὁρῶhorōI see that σεseyou ὄνταontaare
24ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheisanswered δὲdeThen ὁho- ΣίμωνSimōnSimon εἰπὲeipesay ΔεήθητεDeēthētePray ὑμεῖςhymeis“ - ὑπὲρhyperfor ἐμοῦemoume , πρὸςprosto τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord ὅπωςhopōsso that μηδὲνmēdennothing ἐπέλθῃepelthēmay happen ἐπ’ep’to ἐμὲememe . ” ὧνhōn- εἰρήκατεeirēkateyou have said
25ΟἱHoi[Peter and John] μὲνmen- οὖνounAnd after διαμαρτυράμενοιdiamartyramenoihad testified καὶkaiand λαλήσαντεςlalēsantesspoken τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord , ὑπέστρεψανhypestrepsan[and] returned εἰςeisto ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem πολλάςpollasin many τεte- κώμαςkōmasvillages . τῶνtōnof the Σαμαρειτῶνsamareitonof the Samaritans εὐηγγελίσαντο.eueggelisantopreaching the gospel
26ἌγγελοςAngelosan angel δὲdeNow ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord ἐλάλησεelaleseHe promised πρὸςprosto ΦίλιππονPhilipponPhilip λέγωνlegōn- , ἈνάστηθιAnastēthi“ Get up καὶkaiand πορεύουporeuougo κατὰkata- μεσημβρίανmesēmbriansouth ἐπὶepito τὴνtēnthe ὁδὸνhodonroad τὴνtēnthat καταβαίνουσανkatabainousangoes down ἀπὸapofrom ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem εἰςeisto ΓάζανGazanGaza . ” αὕτηhautē- ἐστὶνestin- ἔρημοςerēmosdesert
27καὶkai[So] ἀναστὰςanastashe started out , ἐπορεύθηeporeuthēon his way καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidou[he met] ἀνὴρanērvvv ΑἰθίοψAithiopsan Ethiopian εὐνοῦχοςeunouchoseunuch , δυνάστηςdynastēsa court official ΚανδάκηςKandakēsof Candace , τῆςtēs- βασιλίσσηςbasilissēsqueen ΑἰθιόπωνAithiopōnof [the] Ethiopians . ὃςhos[He] ἦνēnwas ἐπὶepiin πάσηςpasēsthe entire τῆςtēs- γάζηςgazēstreasury αὐτῆςautēs- ὃςhos- ἐληλύθειelēlytheihad gone προσκυνήσωνproskynēsōnto worship , εἰςeisto ἸερουσαλήμIerousalēmJerusalem
28ἦνēnwas τε*teand ὑποστρέφωνhypostrephōnon his return καὶkai- καθήμενοςkathēmenossitting ἐπὶepiin τοῦtou- ἅρματοςharmatoschariot αὐτοῦautouhis καὶkai- ἀνεγίνωσκεaneginoskereading τὸνtonthe προφήτηνprophētēnprophet . ἨσαΐανĒsaianIsaiah
29εἰπὲeipesay δὲde- τὸtoThe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit τὸtoThe ΦιλίππῳPhilippōto Philip , ΠρόσελθεProselthe“ Go over καὶkaiand κολλήθητιkollēthētistay by [it] . ” τῷtō- ἅρματιharmatichariot τούτῳtoutōto [that]
30ΠροσδραμὼνProsdramōnran up δὲde[So] ὁho- ΦίλιπποςPhilipposPhilip ἤκουσενēkousen[and] heard αὐτοῦautou[the man] ἀναγινώσκοντοςanaginōskontosreading τὸνtonthe προφήτηνprophētēnprophet . ἨσαΐανĒsaianIsaiah καὶkai- εἶπενeipen[Philip] asked . ἎράAra- γεge- γινώσκειςginōskeis“ Do you understand ἃhawhat ἀναγινώσκειςanaginōskeisyou are reading ? ”
31ὉHo- δὲde- εἰπὲeipesay ΠῶςPōs“ How γὰρgar- ἂνanvvv δυναίμηνdynaimēncan I , ” ἐὰνean“ unless μήmē. . . τιςtissomeone ὁδηγήσῃodegeseguides μήmē. . . παρεκάλεσέparekaleseshe urged [us] τεteAnd τὸνton- ΦίλιππονPhilipponPhilip ἀναβάνταanabantato come up καθίσαιkathisai[and] sit σὺνsynwith αὐτῷautōhim .
32ἩHē- δὲde- περιοχὴperiochēpassage τῆςtēsof γραφῆςgraphēsScripture ἣνhēn- : ἀνεγίνωσκενaneginōsken[The eunuch] was reading ἦνēn. . . αὕτηhautēthis ὩςHōslike πρόβατονprobatona sheep ἐπὶepito σφαγὴνsphagēn[the] slaughter , ἤχθηēchthē“ He was led καὶkaiand ὡςhōsas ἀμνὸςamnosa lamb ἐναντίονenantionbefore τοῦtouthe κείραντος*keirantosshearer αὐτὸνauton. . . ἄφωνοςaphōnos[is] silent , οὕτωςhoutōsso οὐκoukvvv ἀνοίγειanoigeiHe did not open τὸto- στόμαstomamouth . αὐτοῦautouHis
33ἘνEnIn τῇtē- ταπεινώσειtapeinōseihumiliation [αὐτοῦ]autouHis ἡhē- κρίσιςkrisisof justice . αὐτοῦautouHe ἤρθηērthēwas deprived τὴνtēn- δὲde- γενεὰνgeneandescendants ? αὐτοῦautouHis τίςtisWho διηγήσεταιdiēgēsetaican recount ὅτιhotiFor αἴρεταιairetaiwas removed ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth .” ἡhē- ζωὴzōēlife αὐτοῦautouHis
34ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheis- δὲde- ὁhothe εὐνοῦχοςeunouchoseunuch , τῷtō- ΦιλίππῳPhilippō- εἰπὲeipesay ΔέομαίDeomai“ Tell me σουsou. . . , ” περὶperiabout , τινόςtinossomeone ὁho- προφήτηςprophētēsprophet λέγειlegeitalking τοῦτοtouto. . . περὶperiabout , ἑαυτοῦheautouhimself ἢēor περὶperi- ἑτέρουheterouelse ? ” τινόςtinossomeone
35ἈνοίξαςAnoixasvvv δὲdeThen ὁho- ΦίλιπποςPhilipposPhilip τὸto- στόμαstoma- αὐτοῦautou- καὶkaiand ἀρξάμενοςarxamenosbegan ἀπὸapowith τῆςtēs- γραφῆςgraphēsScripture ταύτηςtautēsthis very εὐηγγελίσατοeuēngelisatotold him the good news about αὐτῷautō. . . τὸνton- ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus .
36ὩςHōsAs δὲde- ἐπορεύοντοeporeuontothey traveled κατὰkataalong τὴνtēnthe ὁδόνhodonroad ἦλθονēlthon[and] came ἐπίepito τιtisome ὕδωρhydōrwater , καίkai- φησινphēsinsaid , ὁhothe εὐνοῦχοςeunouchoseunuch ἸδοὺIdou“ Look , ὕδωρhydōr[here is] water ! τίtiWhat κωλύειkōlyeiis [there] to prevent μεmeme βαπτισθῆναιbaptisthēnai[from] being baptized ?”
37εἰπὲeipesay δὲde- ὁhothe ΦίλιπποςPhilipposPhilip εἰeivvv πιστεύειςpisteueisdo you believe ἐξexwho belonged to ὅληςholēsall τῆςtēsof καρδίαςkardiasheart . ἔξεστινexestinis unlawful ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheisanswered δὲdeThen εἰπὲeipesay ΠιστεύωPisteuō“ I do believe ; τὸνtonthe υἱόνhuiona son , τοῦtouof the ΘεοῦTheouGod . εἶναίeinaito be τῶνtōnwho ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus . ΧριστόνChristonChrist
38καὶkaiand ἐκέλευσεekeleuse[and] directed that στῆναιstēnaito stop τὸtothe ἅρμαharmachariot . καὶkaiThen κατέβησανkatebēsanwent down ἀμφότεροιamphoteroiboth εἰςeisinto τὸtothe ὕδωρhydōrwater , ὁhothe τεte- ΦίλιπποςPhilipposPhilip καὶkaiand ὁhothe εὐνοῦχοςeunouchoseunuch καὶkaiand ἐβάπτισενebaptisen[Philip] baptized αὐτόνautonhim .
39ὍτεHoteWhen δὲde- ἀνέβησανanebēsanthey came up ἐκekout of τοῦtouthe ὕδατοςhydatoswater , ΠνεῦμαPneuma[the] Spirit ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord ἥρπασεerpasecarried τὸνton- ΦίλιππονPhilipponPhilip {away} , καὶkaiand οὐκoukvvv εἶδενeidensaw αὐτὸνautonhim οὐκέτιouketino more , ὁhothe εὐνοῦχοςeunouchoseunuch ἐπορεύετοeporeuetowent γὰρgar[but] τὴνtēn- ὁδὸνhodonway αὐτοῦautouon his χαίρωνchairōnrejoicing .
40ΦίλιπποςPhilipposPhilip δὲdeBut εὑρέθηheurethēappeared εἰςeisat ἌζωτονAzōtonAzotus καὶkaiand διερχόμενοςdierchomenostraveled through [that region] , εὐηγγελίζετοeuēngelizetopreaching the gospel τὰςtasthe πόλειςpoleistowns πάσαςpasasin all ἕωςheōsuntil τοῦtou- ἐλθεῖνeltheincame αὐτὸνautonhe εἰςeisto ΚαισάρειανKaisareianCaesarea .
