1ΔικαιωθέντεςDikaiōthentessince we have been justified οὖνounTherefore , ἐκekthrough πίστεωςpisteōsfaith , εἰρήνηνeirēnēnpeace ἔχομεν*echomenwe have πρὸςproswith τὸνton- ΘεὸνTheonGod διὰdiathrough τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ,
2δι’di’through οὗhouwhom καὶkai- τὴνtēn- προσαγωγὴνprosagōgēnaccess ἐσχήκαμενeschēkamenwe have gained τῇtēby πίστειpisteifaith εἰςeisinto τὴνtēn- χάρινcharingrace ταύτηνtautēnthis ἐνenin ᾗhēwhich ἑστήκαμενhestēkamenwe stand . καὶkaiAnd καυχώμεθαkauchōmethawe rejoice ἐπ’ep’in ἐλπίδιelpidi[the] hope τῆςtēsof the δόξηςdoxēsglory τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God .
3ΟὐOuNot μόνονmonononly δέde[that] , ἀλλὰallabut καὶkaivvv καυχώμεθαkauchōmethawe also rejoice ἐνenin ταῖςtais[our] θλίψεσινthlipsesinsufferings , εἰδότεςeidotesbecause we know ὅτιhotithat ἡhē- θλῖψιςthlipsissuffering ὑπομονὴνhypomonēnperseverance ; κατεργάζεταιkatergazetaiproduces
4ἡhē- δὲde- ὑπομονὴhypomonēperseverance , δοκιμήνdokimēncharacter ; ἡhē- δὲdeand δοκιμὴdokimēcharacter , ἐλπίδαelpidahope .
5ἡhē- δὲdeAnd ἐλπὶςelpishope οὐouvvv καταισχύνειkataischyneidoes not disappoint [us] , ὅτιhotibecause ἡhē[His] ἀγάπηagapēlove τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod ἐκκέχυταιekkechytaihas poured out ἐνeninto ταῖςtais- καρδίαιςkardiaishearts ἡμῶνhēmōnour διὰdiathrough ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit , ἉγίουHagiou[the] Holy τοῦtouwhom δοθέντοςdothentosHe has given ἡμῖνhēminus .
6ἔτιetijust γὰρgarFor ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ὄντωνontōnwe were ἡμῶνhēmōnwhile ἀσθενῶνasthenōnpowerless , κατὰkataat καιρὸνkairon[the] right time , ὑπὲρhyperfor ἀσεβῶνasebōn[the] ungodly . ἀπέθανε.apethaneshe is not dead
7μόλιςmolisrarely γὰρgarVery ὑπὲρhyperfor δικαίουdikaioua righteous [man] , τιςtiswill anyone ἀποθανεῖταιapothaneitaidie ὑπὲρhyperfor γὰρgarthough τοῦtou- ἀγαθοῦagathoua good [man] τάχαtacha{might} possibly τιςtissomeone καὶkai. . . τολμᾷtolmadare ἀποθανεῖνapothaneinto die .
8συνίστησιsunistesiproves δὲdeBut τὴνtēn- ἑαυτοῦheautouHis ἀγάπηνagapēnlove εἰςeisfor ἡμᾶςhēmasus ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod ὅτιhotiin this : ἔτιetistill ἁμαρτωλῶνhamartōlōnsinners , ὄντωνontōnwere ἡμῶνhēmōnWhile we ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ὑπὲρhyperfor ἡμῶνhēmōnus . ἀπέθανε.apethaneshe is not dead
9ΠολλῷPollōhow much οὖνounTherefore , μᾶλλονmallonmore δικαιωθέντεςdikaiōthentes[since] we have now been justified νῦνnyn. . . ἐνenby τῷtō- αἵματιhaimatiblood , αὐτοῦautouHis σωθησόμεθαsōthēsomethashall we be saved δι’di’through αὐτοῦautouHim ! ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēs- ὀργῆςorgēswrath
10εἰeiif , γὰρgarFor ἐχθροὶechthroienemies [of God] , ὄντεςonteswhen we were κατηλλάγημενkatēllagēmenwe were reconciled τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōto [Him] διὰdiathrough τοῦtouthe θανάτουthanatoudeath τοῦtouof ΥἱοῦHuiouSon , αὐτοῦautouHis πολλῷpollōhow much μᾶλλονmallonmore , καταλλαγέντεςkatallagenteshaving been reconciled , σωθησόμεθαsōthēsomethashall we be saved ἐνenthrough τῇtē- ζωῇzōēlife ! αὐτοῦautouHis
11οὐouNot μόνονmonononly δέdethat , ἀλλὰallabut καὶkaivvv καυχώμενοιkauchōmenoiwe also rejoice ἐνenin τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōGod διὰdiathrough τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , δι’di’through οὗhouwhom νῦνnynvvv τὴνtēn- καταλλαγὴνkatallagēnreconciliation . ἐλάβομενelabomenwe have now received
12ΔιὰDiaTherefore τοῦτοtouto. . . , ὥσπερhōsperjust as δι’di’through ἑνὸςhenosone ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouman , ἡhē- ἁμαρτίαhamartiasin εἰςeis. . . τὸνtonthe κόσμονkosmonworld εἰσέλθῃeiselthēwill never enter καὶkaiand διὰdiathrough τῆςtēs- ἁμαρτίαςhamartiassin , ὁho- θάνατοςthanatosdeath καὶkaialso οὕτωςhoutōsso εἰςeisto πάνταςpantasall ἀνθρώπουςanthrōpousmen , ᾧhō. . . θάνατοςthanatosdeath διῆλθενdiēlthenwas passed on ἐφ’eph’because ᾧhō. . . πάντεςpantesall ἥμαρτονhēmartonsinned .
13ἄχριachribefore γὰρgarFor νόμουnomou[the] law [was given] ; ἁμαρτίαhamartiasin ἐνenin ἐνenin κόσμῳkosmō[the] world ἁμαρτίαhamartiasin δὲdebut οὐκoukvvv ἐλλογεῖταιellogeitaiis not taken into account μὴmēno ὄντοςontoswhen there is νόμουnomoulaw .
14Ἀλλ’All’But ἐβασίλευσενebasileusenreigned ὁho- , θάνατοςthanatosdeath ἀπὸapofrom ἈδὰμAdamAdam μέχριmechriuntil ΜωϋσέωςMōuseōsMoses , καὶkaieven ἐπὶepiover τοὺςtousthose who μὴmē. . . ἁμαρτήσανταςhamartēsantasdid not sin ἐπὶepiover τῷtōthe ὁμοιώματιhomoiōmatiway that τῆςtēs- παραβάσεωςparabaseōstransgressed . ἈδάμAdamAdam ὅςhosHe ἐστίestiI have τύποςtyposa pattern τοῦtouof the μέλλοντοςmellontos[One] to come .
15Ἀλλ’All’But οὐχouch[is] not ὡςhōslike τὸtothe παράπτωμαparaptōmatrespass . οὕτωhoutōso καὶkai- τὸtothe χάρισμαcharismagift εἰeiif γὰρgarFor τὸtothe τοῦtouof the ἑνὸςhenosone [man] , παραπτώματιparaptōmatitrespass οἱhoithe πολλοὶpolloimany ἀπέθανονapethanondied πολλῷpollōhow much μᾶλλονmallonmore ἡhē{did} χάριςcharisgrace τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod’s καὶkaiand ἡhēthe δωρεὰdōreagift ἐνenthat came by χάριτιchariti[the] grace τῇtē- τοῦtouof the ἑνὸςhenosone ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouman , ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , εἰςeisto τοὺςtousthe πολλοὺςpollousmany ! ἐπερίσσευσε.eperisseuseabound
16καὶkaiAgain , οὐχouch[is] not ὡςhōslike δι’di’[the result of] ἑνὸςhenosthe one [man’s] ἁμαρτήσαντοςhamartēsantossin : τὸtoThe δώρημαdōrēmagift τὸtothe μὲνmen- γὰρgar- κρίμαkrimajudgment ἐξex[that followed] ἑνὸςhenosone [sin] εἰςeis[brought] κατάκριμαkatakrimacondemnation , τὸtothe δὲdebut χάρισμαcharismagift ἐκek[that followed] πολλῶνpollōnmany παραπτωμάτωνparaptōmatōntrespasses εἰςeis[brought] δικαίωμαdikaiōmajustification .
17εἰeiif , γὰρgarFor τῷtōby the τοῦtouof the ἑνὸςhenosone [man] , παραπτώματιparaptōmatitrespass ὁho- θάνατοςthanatosdeath ἐβασίλευσεebasileusereigned διὰdiathrough τοῦtou[that] ἑνόςhenosone [man] , πολλῷpollōhow much μᾶλλονmallonmore οἱhoi{will} those who τὴνtēn- περισσείανperisseianan abundance τῆςtēs- χάριτοςcharitosof grace καὶkaiand τῆςtēsof the δωρεᾶςdōreasgift τῆςtēs- δικαιοσύνηςdikaiosynēsof righteousness λαμβάνοντεςlambanontesreceive ἐνenin ζωῇzōēlife βασιλεύσουσιbasileusousireign διὰdiathrough τοῦtouthe ἑνὸςhenosone man , ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist !
18ἌραAraSo οὖνounthen , ὡςhōsjust as δι’di’- ἑνὸςhenosone παραπτώματοςparaptōmatostrespass εἰςeis[brought] πάνταςpantasall ἀνθρώπουςanthrōpousmen , εἰςeisfor κατάκριμαkatakrimacondemnation οὕτωhoutōso καὶkaialso δι’di’- ἑνὸςhenosone δικαιώματοςdikaiōmatosact of righteousness εἰςeis[brought] πάνταςpantasall ἀνθρώπουςanthrōpousmen . εἰςeisfor δικαίωσινdikaiōsinjustification ζωῆςzōēs[and] life
19ὥσπερhōsperFor just as γὰρgar. . . διὰdiathrough τῆςtēsthe παρακοῆςparakoēsdisobedience τοῦtouof the ἑνὸςhenosone ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouman ἁμαρτωλοὶhamartōloisinners , κατεστάθησανkatestathēsanwere made οἱhoithe πολλοίpolloimany οὕτωhoutōso καὶkaialso διὰdiathrough τῆςtēsthe ὑπακοῆςhypakoēsobedience τοῦtouof the ἑνὸςhenosone [man] δίκαιοιdikaioirighteous . κατασταθήσονταιkatastathēsontaiwill be made οἱhoithe πολλοίpolloimany
20ΝόμοςNomos[The] law δὲde- παρεισῆλθενpareisēlthencame in ἵναhinaso that πλεονάσῃpleonasēwould increase ; τὸtothe παράπτωμαparaptōmatrespass οὗhouwhere δὲdebut ἐπλεόνασενepleonasenincreased , ἡhē- ἁμαρτίαhamartiasin ὑπερεπερίσσευσενhypereperisseusenincreased all the more , ἡhē- χάριςcharisgrace
21ἵναhinaso that , ὥσπερhōsperjust as ἐβασίλευσενebasileusenreigned ἡhē- ἁμαρτίαhamartiasin ἐνenin τῷtō- θανάτῳthanatōdeath , οὕτωhoutōso καὶkaialso ἡhē- χάριςcharisgrace βασιλεύσειbasileuseiHe will reign διὰdiathrough δικαιοσύνηςdikaiosynēsrighteousness εἰςeisto bring ζωὴνzōēnlife αἰώνιονaiōnioneternal διὰdiathrough ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord . ἡμῶνhēmōnour
