1ὍλωςHolōs{It is} actually ἀκούεταιakouetaireported [that there is] ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhyminyou , πορνείαporneia[of a kind] καὶkaiand τοιαύτηtoiautēthat is πορνείαporneia[of a kind] ἥτιςhētis. . . οὐδὲoudeintolerable even ἐνenamong τοῖςtois- ἔθνεσινethnesinpagans : ὀνομάζεται,onomazetaito invoke ὥστεhōste- γυναῖκάgynaikawife . τιναtinaA man τοῦtou[his] πατρὸςpatrosfather’s ἔχεινecheinhas
2καὶkaiAnd ὑμεῖςhymeisyou πεφυσιωμένοιpephysiōmenoiproud ! ἐστέesteare καὶkai- οὐχὶouchiShouldn’t you μᾶλλονmallonrather ἐπενθήσατεepenthēsatehave been stricken with grief ἵναhina[and] ἐξαρθῇexarthishould-be-REMOVE-ed ἐκekfrom μέσουmesou[fellowship] ὑμῶνhymōnyour ὁhothe [man who] τὸto. . . ἔργονergon. . . ? τοῦτοtoutothis ποιήσαςpoiēsasact on them
3ἘγὼEgōI μὲνmenvvv γάρgarAlthough ὡςhōsjust as if ἀπὼνapōnam absent [ from you ] τῷtō- σώματιsōmatiin body , παρὼνparōnI am present [with you ] δὲde- τῷtō- πνεύματιpneumatiin spirit , ἤδηēdēvvv κέκρικαkekrikaand I have already pronounced judgment ὡςhōsjust as if παρὼνparōnI were present . τὸνtonon the [one] οὕτωhoutōso τοῦτοtoutothis , κατεργασάμενονkatergasamenondid
4ἐνenin τῷtōthe ὀνόματιonomatiname τοῦtouof ΚυρίουKyriouLord ‹ἡμῶν›hēmōnour ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , συναχθέντωνsynachthentōnare assembled ὑμῶνhymōn[When] you καὶkaiand τοῦtou- ἐμοῦemouI [am with you] πνεύματοςpneumatosin spirit , σὺνsynalong with τῇtēthe δυνάμειdynameipower τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōn- ἸησοῦIēsouJesus , ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ,
5παραδοῦναιparadounaihand τὸνton- τοιοῦτονtoioutonthis man {over} τῷtō- ΣατανᾷSatanato Satan εἰςeisfor ὄλεθρονolethron[the] destruction τῆςtēsof the σαρκόςsarkosflesh , ἵναhinaso that τὸto[his] πνεῦμαpneumaspirit σωθῇsōthēmay be saved ἐνenon τῇtēthe ἡμέρᾳhēmeraDay τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord . ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ,
6ΟὐOu[is] not καλὸνkalongood . τὸto- καύχημαkauchēmaboasting ὑμῶνhymōnYour οὐκoukvvv οἴδατεoidateDo you not know ὅτιhotithat μικρὰmikraa little ζύμηzymēleaven ὅλονholonwhole τὸtothe φύραμαphyramabatch [of dough] ? ζυμοῖzymoiworks through
7ἐκκαθάρατεekkatharateGet rid of οὖνountherefore , τὴνtēnthe παλαιὰνpalaianold ζύμηνzymēnleaven , ἵναhinathat ἦτεēteyou may be νέονneona new φύραμαphyramabatch , καθώςkathōsas ἐστεesteyou really are . ἄζυμοιazymoiunleavened καὶkai- γὰρgarFor τὸto- πάσχαpaschaPassover lamb , ἡμῶνhēmōnour ὑπὲρhyperabove ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἐτύθηetythēhas been sacrificed . ΧριστόςChristosChrist ,
8ὥστεhōsteTherefore ἑορτάζωμενheortazōmenlet us keep the feast , μὴmēnot ἐνenwith ζύμῃzymēbread, leavened παλαιᾷpalaia[the] old μηδὲmēde. . . ἐνen. . . ζύμῃzymē. . . κακίαςkakiaswith malice καὶkaiand πονηρίαςponēriaswickedness , ἀλλ’all’but ἐνenwith ἀζύμοιςazymois[the] unleavened [bread] εἰλικρινείαςeilikrineiasof sincerity καὶkaiand ἀληθείαςalētheiasof truth .
9ἜγραψαEgrapsaI wrote ὑμῖνhyminyou ἐνenin τῇtē[my] ἐπιστολῇepistolēletter μὴmēnot συναναμίγνυσθαιsynanamignysthaito associate with πόρνοιςpornoissexually immoral [people] .
10καὶkaiand οὐouI was not πάντωςpantōs[including ] τοῖςtoisthe πόρνοιςpornoissexually immoral τοῦtou- κόσμουkosmouworld , τούτουtoutouof this ἢēor τοῖςtoisthe πλεονέκταιςpleonektaisgreedy ἢēor ἅρπαξινharpaxinswindlers , ἢēor εἰδωλολάτραιςeidōlolatraisidolaters . ἐπεὶepei- ὠφείλετεōpheileteyou would have ἄραaraIn that case ἐκek. . . τοῦtou[this] κόσμουkosmouworld . ἐξελθεῖνexeltheinto leave
11νῦνnynnow δὲdeBut ἔγραψαegrapsaI am writing ὑμῖνhyminyou μὴmēnot συναναμίγνυσθαιsynanamignysthaito associate with ἐάνean[but] τιςtisanyone ἀδελφὸςadelphosa brother ὀνομαζόμενοςonomazomenoswho claims to be ᾖēis πόρνοςpornossexually immoral ἢēor πλεονέκτηςpleonektēsgreedy , ἢē- εἰδωλολάτρηςeidōlolatrēsan idolater ἢēor λοίδοροςloidorosa verbal abuser , ἢē- μέθυσοςmethysosa drunkard ἢēor ἅρπαξharpaxa swindler . τῷtōWith τοιούτῳtoioutōsuch a man μηδὲmēde{do} not even συνεσθίεινsynesthieineat .
12ΤίTiWhat γάρgar- μοιmoibusiness of mine [is it] τοὺςtousthose ἔξωexōoutside [the church ] ? κρίνεινkrineinto judge οὐχὶouchinot τοὺςtousthose ἔσωesōinside ? ὑμεῖςhymeis{Are} you κρίνετεkrineteto judge
13τοὺςtousthose δὲde- ἔξωexōoutside . ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod κρίνειkrineiwill judge καὶkaiand ἐξαρεῖτεexareite“ Expel τὸνtonthe πονηρὸνponēronwicked [man] ἐξexfrom ὑμῶνhymōnamong you αὐτῶνautōn. . . .”
