1ΚαὶKaiAnd ὑμᾶςhymasyou ὄνταςontaswere νεκροὺςnekrousdead τοῖςtoisin παραπτώμασιparaptomasitrespasses καὶkaiand ταῖςtais- ἁμαρτίαιςhamartiaissins ,
2ἐνenin αἷςhaiswhich ποτεpotevvv περιεπατήσατεperiepatēsateyou used to walk κατὰkatawhen you conformed to τὸνtonthe αἰῶναaiōnaways τοῦtou- κόσμουkosmouworld τούτουtoutouof this κατὰkata[and] τὸνtonof the ἄρχονταarchontaruler τῆςtēsof the ἐξουσίαςexousiaspower τοῦtouof the ἀέροςaerosair , τοῦtouthe πνεύματοςpneumatosspirit [who is] τοῦtouthe νῦνnynnow ἐνεργοῦντοςenergountosat work ἐνenin τοῖςtoisthe υἱοῖςhuioissons τῆςtēs- ἀπειθείαςapeitheiasof disobedience .
3ἐνenin οἷςhois[them] καὶkaialso ἡμεῖςhēmeisof us πάντεςpantesAll ἀνεστράφημένanestraphēmenlived ποτεpoteat one time , ἐνenfulfilling ταῖςtaisthe ἐπιθυμίαιςepithymiaiscravings τῆςtēs- σαρκὸςsarkosflesh ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ποιοῦντεςpoiountes[and] indulging τὰta[its] θελήματαthelēmatadesires τῆςtēs- σαρκὸςsarkos- . καὶkai- τῶνtōn- διανοιῶνdianoiōnthoughts καὶkaiand ἐμὴνemēnof Me . ” τέκναteknachildren φύσειphyseiby nature ὀργῆςorgēsof wrath . ὡςhōsLike καὶkai- οἱhoithe λοιποίloipoirest ,
4ὉHo- δὲdeBut ΘεὸςTheosGod , πλούσιοςplousiosrich ὢνōnwho is ἐνenin ἐλέειeleeimercy , διὰdiabecause of τὴνtēn- πολλὴνpollēngreat ἀγάπηνagapēnlove αὐτοῦautouHis ἣνhēnfor us ἠγάπησενēgapēsen. . . ἡμᾶςhēmas. . . ,
5καὶkaieven when ὄνταςontaswere ἡμᾶςhēmaswe νεκροὺςnekrousdead τοῖςtoisin our παραπτώμασιparaptomasitrespasses συνεζωοποίησεsunezoopoiesemade [us] alive with τῷtō- ΧριστῷChristōChrist χάριτίchariti[It is] by grace ἐστεesteyou have been σεσῳσμένοιsesōsmenoisaved !
6καὶkaiAnd συνήγειρεsunegeire[God] raised [us] up with [Christ] καὶkaiAnd συνεκάθισενsynekathisenseated [us with Him] ἐνenin τοῖςtoisthe ἐπουρανίοιςepouranioisheavenly realms ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ,
7ἵναhinain order that ἐνδείξηταιendeixētaiHe might display ἐνenin τοῖςtoisthe αἰῶσιaiosiages τοῖςtoisthe ἐπερχομένοιςeperchomenoiscoming τῶνtōn- ὑπερβάλλονταuperballontasurpassing πλουτῶνploutōnis not rich τῆςtēs- χάριτοςcharitosgrace , αὐτοῦautouHis ἐνen[demonstrated] by χρηστότητιchrēstotēti[His] kindness ἐφ’eph’to ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus .
8ΤῇTē- γὰρgarFor [it is] χάριτίcharitiby grace ἐστεesteyou have been σεσῳσμένοιsesōsmenoisaved διὰdiathrough τῆςtēsof πίστεωςpisteōsfaith , καὶkaiand τοῦτοtoutothis οὐκouknot ἐξexfrom ὑμῶνhymōnyourselves ; ΘεοῦTheouof God , τὸto[it is] the δῶρονdōrongift
9οὐκouknot ἐξexby ἔργωνergōnworks , ἵναhinaso that μήmēno τιςtisone καυχήσηταιkauchēsētaican boast .
10αὐτοῦautou[God’s] γάρgarFor ἐσμενesmenwe are ποίημαpoiēmaworkmanship , κτισθέντεςktisthentescreated ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ἐπὶepito do ἔργοιςergoisworks , ἀγαθοῖςagathoisgood οἷςhoiswhich προητοίμασενproētoimasenprepared in advance ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod ἵναhinaas ἐνen. . . αὐτοῖςautois. . . . περιπατήσωμενperipatēsōmenour way of life
11ΔιὸDioTherefore μνημονεύετεmnēmoneueteremember ὅτιhotithat ὑμεῖςhymeisyou ποτὲpoteformerly τὰtawho [are] ἔθνηethnēGentiles ἐνenin σαρκίsarki[the] flesh οἱhoi- λεγόμενοιlegomenoi[and] called ἀκροβυστίαakrobystiauncircumcised ὑπὸhypoby τῆςtēsthe λεγομένηςlegomenēsso-called περιτομῆςperitomēscircumcision ἐνen({that done} in σαρκὶsarki[the] body χειροποιήτουcheiropoiētouby human hands) —
12ὅτιhoti[remember] that ἦτεēteyou were ἐνen({that done} in τῷtōat καιρῷkairōtime ἐκείνῳekeinōthat χωρὶςchōrisseparate from ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , ἀπηλλοτριωμένοιapēllotriōmenoialienated from τῆςtēsthe πολιτείαςpoliteiascommonwealth τοῦtou- ἸσραὴλIsraēlof Israel , καὶkaiand ξένοιxenoistrangers τῶνtōnto the διαθηκῶνdiathēkōncovenants τῆςtēsof the ἐπαγγελίαςepangeliaspromise , ἐλπίδαelpidahope μὴmēwithout ἔχοντεςechontes. . . καὶkaiand ἄθεοιatheoiwithout God ἐνenin τῷtōthe κόσμῳkosmōworld .
13νυνὶnyninow δὲdeBut ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ὑμεῖςhymeisyou οἵhoiwho ποτεpoteonce ὄντεςonteswere μακρὰνmakranfar away ἐγγὺςengysnear ἐγενήθητεegenēthētehave been brought ἐνenthrough τῷtōthe αἵματιhaimatiblood τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ .
14ΑὐτὸςAutosHe Himself γάρgarFor ἐστινestinis ἡhē- εἰρήνηeirēnēpeace , ἡμῶνhēmōnour ὁhowho ποιήσαςpoiēsashas made τὰta- ἀμφότεραamphoterathe two ἓνhenone καὶkaiand τὸtothe μεσότοιχονmesotoichondividing τοῦtou- φραγμοῦphragmouwall λύσαςlysashas torn down
15τὴνtēn- ἔχθρανechthranof hostility ἐνenin τῇtē- σαρκὶsarkiflesh αὐτοῦautouHis τὸνtonthe νόμονnomonlaw τῶνtōn- ἐντολῶνentolōnof commandments ἐνen[and] δόγμασιdogmasidecrees . καταργήσαςkatargēsasby abolishing ἵναhina[ He did this ] to τοὺςtousthe δύοdyotwo , κτίσῃktisēcreate ἐνenin ἑαυτῷheautōHim . εἰςeis[out of] ἕναhenaone καινὸνkainonnew ἄνθρωπονanthrōponman ποιῶνpoiōn[thus] making εἰρήνηνeirēnēnpeace
16καὶkaiand ἀποκαταλλάξῃapokatallaxēreconciling τοὺςtous- ἀμφοτέρουςamphoterousboth [of them] ἐνenin ἑνὶhenione σώματιsōmatibody τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōto God διὰdiathrough τοῦtouthe σταυροῦstauroucross , ἀποκτείναςapokteinasHe extinguished τὴνtēn[their] ἔχθρανechthranhostility . ἐνenby αὐτῷautōwhich
17ΚαὶKai- ἐλθὼνelthōnHe came εὐηγγελίσατοeuēngelisato[and] preached εἰρήνηνeirēnēnpeace ὑμῖνhyminto you τοῖςtoiswho [were] μακρὰνmakranfar away καὶkaiand τοῖςtoisto those ἐγγύςengys[who were] near .
18ὅτιhotiFor δι’di’through αὐτοῦautouHim ἔχομενechomenwe both have τὴνtēn- προσαγωγὴνprosagōgēnaccess οἱhoi- ἀμφότεροιamphoteroivvv ἐνenby ἑνὶhenione ΠνεύματιPneumatiSpirit . πρὸςprosto τὸνtonthe ΠατέραPateraFather
19ἌραAraTherefore οὖνoun. . . οὐκέτιouketino longer ἐστὲesteyou are ξένοιxenoistrangers καὶkaiand πάροικοιparoikoiforeigners , ἀλλὰallabut συμπολῖταιsympolitaifellow citizens τῶνtōnwith the ἁγίωνhagiōnsaints καὶkaiand οἰκεῖοιoikeioimembers of God’s household τοῦtou. . . ΘεοῦTheou. . . ,
20ἐποικοδομηθέντεςepoikodomēthentesbuilt ἐπὶepion τῷtōthe θεμελίῳthemeliōfoundation τῶνtōnof the ἀποστόλωνapostolōnapostles καὶkaiand προφητῶνprophētōnprophets , ὄντοςontosas ἀκρογωνιαίουakrogōniaiou[the] cornerstone . αὐτοῦautouHimself ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristou[with] Christ
21ἐνenIn ᾧhōHim πᾶσαpasathe whole ἡhē- οἰκοδομὴoikodomēbuilding συναρμολογουμένηsynarmologoumenēis fitted together αὔξειauxei[and] grows εἰςeisinto ναὸνnaontemple ἅγιονhagiona holy ἐνenin ΚυρίῳKyriō[the] Lord .
22ἐνen[And] in ᾧhō[Him] καὶkaitoo {are} ὑμεῖςhymeisyou συνοικοδομεῖσθεsynoikodomeisthebeing built together εἰςeisinto κατοικητήριονkatoikētēriona dwelling place τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheoufor God ἐνenin ΠνεύματιPneumati[His] Spirit .
