3ΚαὶKai- εἶπενeipenHe said , ἈληθῶςAlēthōs“ Truly λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou , ” ὅτιhoti- ἡhē- χήραchērawidow ἡhē- πτωχὴ»ptōchēpoor αὕτηhautē“ this πλεῖονpleionmore πάντωνpantōnthan all [the others] . ἔβαλενebalenhas put in

5ΚαίKaiAs τινωνtinōnsome [of the disciples] λεγόντωνlegontōnwere remarking περὶperi. . . τοῦtouthe ἱεροῦhieroutemple ὅτιhotihow λίθοιςlithoisstones καλοῖςkaloiswith beautiful καὶkaiand ἀναθήμασιanathemasiconsecrated gifts , κεκόσμηταιkekosmētaiwas adorned εἰπὲeipesay
6ΤαῦταTauta“ [As for] what ἃha- θεωρεῖτεtheōreiteyou see here , ἐλεύσονταιeleusontaiwill come ἡμέραιhēmerai[the] time ἐνenvvv αἷςhais[when] οὐκouknot one ἀφεθήσεταιaphethēsetaiwill be left λίθοςlithosstone ἐπὶepion λίθῳlithō[another] ; ὃςhos[every one] οὐou. . . καταλυθήσεταιkatalythēsetaiwill be thrown down . ”
7ἘπηρώτησανEpērōtēsanthey asked δὲde- αὐτὸνauton. . . λέγοντεςlegontes. . . , ΔιδάσκαλεDidaskale“ Teacher , ” πότεpote“ when {will} οὖνoun. . . ταῦταtautathese things ἔσταιestaihappen ? καὶkaiAnd τίtiwhat [will be] τὸtothe σημεῖονsēmeionsign ὅτανhotan[that] μέλλῃmellēare about ταῦταtautathey γίνεσθαιginesthaito take place ? ”
8ὉHo- δὲde- εἰπὲeipesay ΒλέπετεBlepete“ See to it μὴmēvvv πλανηθῆτεplanēthētethat you are not deceived . πολλοὶpolloimany γὰρgarFor ἐλεύσονταιeleusontaiwill come ἐπὶepiin τῷtō- ὀνόματίonomatiname , μουmouMy λέγοντεςlegontesclaiming , ὅτιhotihow ἘγώEgō‘ I εἰμιeimiam [He] , ’ καίkaiand , ὉHo‘ The καιρὸςkairostime ἤγγικε.eggikeis near . ’ μὴmē{Do} not οὖνoun. . . πορευθῆτεporeuthētefollow ὀπίσωopisō. . . αὐτῶνautōnthem .
9ὅτανhotanWhen δὲde- ἀκούσητεakousēteyou hear of πολέμουςpolemouswars καὶkaiand ἀκαταστασίαςakatastasiasrebellions , μὴmē{do} not πτοηθῆτεptoēthētebe alarmed . δεῖdeimust γὰρgar- ταῦταtautaThese things γενέσθαιgenesthaihappen πρῶτονprōtonfirst , ἀλλ’all’but οὐκouk[is] not εὐθέωςeutheōsimminent . ” τὸtothe τέλοςtelosend
10ΤότεToteThen ἔλεγενelegenHe told αὐτοῖςautoisthem , ἘγερθήσεταιEgerthēsetaiwill rise ἔθνοςethnos“ Nation ἐπὶepiagainst ἔθνοςethnosnation , καὶkaiand βασιλείαbasileiakingdom ἐπὶepiagainst βασιλείανbasileiankingdom .
11σεισμοίseismoiearthquakes , τεte- μεγάλοιmegaloigreat κατὰkatain various τόπουςtopousplaces , καὶkaiand λιμοὶ*limoifamines , καὶkaiand λοιμοὶ*loimoipestilences ἔσονταιesontaiThere will be φόβητράphobētrafearful sights τεtealong with καὶkaiand σημεῖαsēmeiasigns ἀπ’ap’by οὐρανοῦ»ouranouheaven . μεγάλαmegalagreat ἔσταιestai-
12ΠρὸProbefore δὲdeBut τούτωνtoutōn[this] , πάντωνpantōnall ἐπιβαλοῦσινepibalousinthey will seize ἐφ’eph’. . . ὑμᾶςhymasyou τὰςtas. . . χεῖραςcheiras. . . αὐτῶνautōn. . . καὶkaiand διώξουσι,dioxousithey will persecute . ’ παραδιδόντεςparadidontesthey will deliver you εἰςeisto συναγωγὰςsynagōgassynagogues καὶkaiand φυλακάςphylakasprisons , ἀγομένουςagomenous[and] they will bring [you] ἐπὶepibefore βασιλεῖςbasileiskings καὶkaiand ἡγεμόναςhēgemonasgovernors . ἕνεκενhenekenOn account of τοῦtou- ὀνόματόςonomatosname μουmouMy ἀποβήσεταιapobēsetaiThis will be your opportunity
14θέτεthetemake up οὖνounSo εἰςeisto τὰςtasthe καρδίαιςkardiaismind ὑμῶνhymōnyour μὴmēnot προμελετᾶνpromeletanto worry beforehand ἀπολογηθῆναιapologēthēnaihow to defend yourselves .
15ἐγὼegōI γὰρgarFor δώσωdōsōwill give ὑμῖνhyminyou στόμαstomaspeech καὶkaiand σοφίανsophianwisdom ᾗhēthat οὐounone of δυνήσονταιdynēsontaiwill be able to ἀντειπεῖνanteipeincontradict . ΟὐδὲOude“ vvv ἀντιστῆναιantistēnairesist πάντεςpantesthey all οἱhoivvv ἀντικείμενοιantikeimenoiyour adversaries ὑμῖνhymin. . .
16ΠαραδοθήσεσθεParadothēsestheYou will be betrayed δὲde- καὶkaieven ὑπὸhypoby γονέωνgoneōnparents καὶkaiand συγγενῶνsyngenōnrelatives καὶkaiand φίλωνphilōnfriends , καὶkaiand ἀδελφῶνadelphōnbrothers καὶkaiand θανατώσουσινthanatōsousinwill be put to death . ἐξex[some] of ὑμῶνhymōnyou
17καὶkaiAnd ἔσεσθεesestheyou will be μισούμενοιmisoumenoihated ὑπὸhypoby πάντωνpantōneveryone διὰdiabecause of τὸto- ὄνομάonomaname . μουmouMy
18καὶkaiYet θρὶξthrixa hair ἐκekof τῆςtēs- κεφαλῆςkephalēshead ὑμῶνhymōnyour οὐouvvv μὴmēnot even ἀπόληταιapolētaiwill perish .
19ἐνenBy τῇtē- ὑπομονῇhypomonēpatient endurance ὑμῶνhymōnyour κτήσασθε*ktēsastheyou will gain τὰςtas- ψυχὰςpsychassouls . ὑμῶνhymōnyour
20ὍτανHotanwhen δὲdeBut ἴδητεidēteyou see κυκλουμένηνkykloumenēnsurrounded ὑπὸhypoby στρατοπέδωνstratopedōnarmies , τὴνtēnthe ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem τότεtoteAt that time γνῶτεgnōteyou will know ὅτιhotithat ἤγγικενēngikenis near . ἡhē- ἐρήμωσιςerēmōsisdesolation αὐτῆςautēsher
21τότεtote- οἱhoi{let} those who are ἐνenin τῇtē- ἸουδαίᾳIoudaiaJudea φευγέτωσανpheugetōsanflee εἰςeisto τὰtathe ὄρηorēmountains , καὶkai{let} οἱhoithose ἐνenin μέσῳmesō[the city] αὐτῆςautēsvvv ἐκχωρείτωσανekchōreitōsanget out , καὶkaiand {let} οἱhoithose ἐνenin ταῖςtaisthe χώραιςchōraiscountry μὴmēvvv εἰσερχέσθωσανeiserchesthōsanstay out of εἰςeisvvv αὐτήνautēn[the city] .
22ὅτιhotiFor ἡμέραιhēmerai[the] days ἐκδικήσεωςekdikēseōsof vengeance , αὗταίhautaithese εἰσιeisiare τοῦtou- πληρωθῆναιplerothenaito fulfill πάνταpantaall τὰta- γεγραμμέναgegrammenathat is written . ΟὐαὶOuaiHow miserable
23δὲdeBut ταῖςtaisthe ἐνenin γαστρὶgastri. . . ἐχούσαιςechousais[for] pregnant καὶkaiand ταῖςtais- θηλαζούσαιςthēlazousaisnursing [mothers] ! ἐνen. . . ἐκείναιςekeinaisthose ταῖςtais- ἡμέραιςhēmeraisdays [will be] ἔσταιestaithere will be γὰρgarFor τότεtoteThen ἀνάγκηanankēdistress μεγάληmegalēgreat ἐπὶepiupon τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsland καὶkaiand ὀργὴorgēwrath τῷtōagainst λαῷlaōpeople . τούτῳtoutōthis
24καὶkai- πεσοῦνταιpesountaiThey will fall στόματιstomatiby [the] edge μαχαίρας,makhairasof [the] sword καὶkaiand αἰχμαλωτισθήσονταιaichmalōtisthēsontaibe led captive εἰςeisinto πάνταpantaall τὰtathe ἔθνηethnēnations . καὶkaiAnd ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem ἔσταιestaiwill be πατουμένηpatoumenētrodden down ὑπὸhypoby ἐθνῶνethnōn[the] Gentiles , ἄχριachriuntil οὗhou. . . πληρωθῶσιplerothosiare fulfilled . καιροὶkairoi[the] times ἐθνῶνethnōnof [the] Gentiles
25ΚαὶKai- ἔσταιestaiwill be σημεῖαsēmeiasigns ἐνenin ἡλίῳhēliō[the] sun καὶkaiand σελήνῃselēnēmoon καὶkaiand ἄστροιςastroisstars , καὶkaiand ἐπὶepion τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth συνοχὴsynochēdismay ἐθνῶνethnōnamong the nations , ἐνenby ἀπορίᾳaporiabewildered ἠχούσηςekhouses[the] roaring θαλάσσηςthalassēsof [the] sea καὶkaiand σάλουsalou[the] surging of the waves .
26ἀποψυχόντωνapopsychontōnwill faint ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnMen ἀπὸapofrom φόβουphoboufear καὶkaiand προσδοκίαςprosdokiasanxiety τῶνtōnover what ἐπερχομένωνeperchomenōnis coming τῇtēupon the οἰκουμένῃoikoumenēearth , αἱhaithe γὰρgarfor δυνάμειςdynameispowers τῶνtōnof the οὐρανῶνouranōnheavens σαλευθήσονταιsaleuthēsontaiwill be shaken .
27καὶkaivvv τότεtoteAt that time ὄψονταιopsontaithey will see τὸνtonthe ΥἱὸνHuionSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἐρχόμενονerchomenoncoming ἐνenin νεφέλῃnephelēa cloud μετὰmetawith δυνάμεωςdynameōspower καὶkaiand δόξηςdoxēsglory . πολλῆςpollēsgreat
28ἀρχομένωνarchomenōnbegin δὲdeWhen τούτωνtoutōnthese things γίνεσθαιginesthaito happen , ἀνακύψατεanakypsatestand up καὶkaiand ἐπάρατεeparatelift up τὰςtas- κεφαλὰςkephalasheads , ὑμῶνhymōnyour διότιdiotibecause ἐγγίζειengizeiis drawing near . ” ἡhē- ἀπολύτρωσιςapolytrōsisredemption ὑμῶνhymōnyour
29ΚαὶKaiThen εἰπὲeipesay παραβολὴνparabolēna parable : αὐτοῖςautoisthem ἼδετεIdete“ Look at τὴνtēnthe συκῆνsykēnfig tree καὶkaiand πάνταpantaall τὰtathe δένδραdendratrees .
30ὅτανhotanWhen προβάλωσινprobalōsinthey sprout leaves ἤδηēdē. . . , βλέποντεςblepontesyou can see ἀφ’aph’for ἑαυτῶνheautōnyourselves γινώσκετεginōskete[and] know ὅτιhotithat ἤδηēdē. . . ἐγγὺςengysnear . τὸto- θέροςtherossummer ἐστίνestinis
31οὕτωouto[this] καὶkaialso , ὑμεῖςhymeis- ὅτανhotanwhen ἴδητεidēteyou see ταῦταtautathese things γινόμεναginomenahappening , γινώσκετεginōsketeknow ὅτιhotithat ἐγγύςengysnear . ἐστινestinis ἡhēthe βασιλείαbasileiakingdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God
32ἀμὴνamēnTruly λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou , ὅτιhoti- οὐouvvv μὴmēvvv παρέλθῃparelthēwill not pass away ἡhē- γενεὰgeneageneration αὕτηhautēthis ἕωςheōsuntil ἂνan. . . πάνταpantaall [these things] γένηταιgenētaihave happened .
33ὁho- οὐρανὸςouranosHeaven καὶkaiand ἡhē- γῆgēearth παρελεύσονταιpareleusontaiwill pass away , οἱhoi- δὲdebut λόγοιlogoiwords μουmouMy οὐouvvv μὴmēvvv παρέλθωσι.parelthosiwill pass away ,
34ΠροσέχετεProsechetewatch δὲdeBut ἑαυτοῖςheautoisyourselves , μήποτεmepote. . . βαρηθῶσινbarēthōsinwill be weighed down ὑμῶνhymōnyour αἱhai. . . καρδίαιkardiaihearts ἐνenby κραιπάλῃkraipalēdissipation , καὶkai- μέθῃmethēdrunkenness , καὶkaiand μερίμναιςmerimnais[the] worries βιωτικαῖςbiōtikaisof life — καὶkaiand αἰφνίδιοςaiphnidiossuddenly ἐφ’eph’upon ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐπιστῇepistēwill spring ἡhē- ἡμέραhēmeraday ἐκείνηekeinēthat ὡςhōslike παγίςpagisa snare .
35γὰρgarFor ἐπελεύσεταιepeleusetaiwill come ἐπὶepiupon πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtouswho καθημένουςkathēmenousdwell ἐπὶepion πρόσωπονprosōponthe face πάσηςpasēsof all τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth .
36ἀγρυπνεῖτεagrypneitekeep watch οὖνounSo ἐνen- παντὶpantiall καιρῷkairōtimes , δεόμενοιdeomenoi[and] pray ἵναhinathat καταξιωθῆτεkataxiotheteyou may have the strength ἐκφυγεῖνekphygeinto escape πάνταpantaall τὰtathat μέλλονταmellontais about γίνεσθαιginesthaito happen καὶkaiand σταθῆναιstathēnaito stand ἔμπροσθενemprosthenbefore τοῦtouthe ΥἱοῦHuiouSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man . ”
37ἮνĒn[Jesus] δὲde- τὰςtas[Every] ἡμέραςhēmerasday ἮνĒn[Jesus] τῷtōthe ἱερῷhierōtemple , διδάσκωνdidaskōntaught τὰςtas[Every] δὲde- νύκταςnyktasevening ἐξερχόμενοςexerchomenosHe went out ηὐλίζετοēulizetoto spend the night εἰςeison τὸtothe ὄροςorosMount τὸto- καλούμενονkaloumenonof ἘλαιῶνElaiōnOlives .
38καὶkaiAnd πᾶςpasall ὁhothe λαὸςlaospeople {would come} ὤρθριζεorthrizeearly in the morning πρὸςpros- αὐτὸνauton- ἐνenat τῷtōthe ἱερῷhierōtemple . ἀκούεινakoueinto hear αὐτοῦautouHim
