1ΓνωρίζωGnōrizōI want to remind δὲdethough ὑμῖνhyminto you ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , τὸto[of] the εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel ὃho- εὐηγγελισάμηνeuēngelisamēnI preached ὑμῖνhyminto you , ὃhowhich καὶkai- παρελάβετεparelabeteyou received , ἐνenin ᾧhōwhich καὶkaiand ἑστήκατεhestēkateyou stand firm .
2δι’di’By οὗhou[this gospel] καὶkai- σῴζεσθεsōzestheyou are saved , τίνιtinito the λόγῳlogōword εὐηγγελισάμηνeuēngelisamēnI preached ὑμῖνhyminto you . εἰei. . . κατέχετεkatecheteyou hold firmly ἐκτὸςektosOtherwise , εἰei. . . μὴmē. . . εἰκῇeikēin vain . ἐπιστεύσατεepisteusateyou have believed
3ΠαρέδωκαParedōkaI passed on γὰρgarFor ὑμῖνhyminto you ἐνenas of πρώτοιςprōtoisfirst importance : ὃhowhat καὶkai- παρέλαβονparelabonI received ὅτιhotithat ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ἀπέθανενapethanendied ὑπὲρhyperfor τῶνtōn- ἁμαρτιῶνhamartiōnsins ἡμῶνhēmōnour κατὰkataaccording to τὰςtasthe γραφάςgraphasScriptures ,
4καὶkai- ὅτιhotithat ἐτάφηetaphēHe was buried , καὶkai- ὅτιhotithat ἐγήγερταιegēgertaiHe was raised τῇtēon the ἡμέρᾳhēmeraday τῇtē- τρίτῃtritēthird κατὰkataaccording to τὰςtasthe γραφάςgraphasScriptures ,
5καὶkaiand ὅτιhotithat ὤφθηōphthēHe appeared ΚηφᾷKēphato Cephas εἶταeita[and] then τοῖςtoisto the δώδεκαdōdekaTwelve .
6ἔπειταepeitaAfter that , ὤφθηōphthēHe appeared ἐπάνωepanōto more than πεντακοσίοιςpentakosioisfive hundred ἀδελφοῖςadelphoisbrothers ἐφάπαξephapaxat once , ἐξexof ὧνhōnwhom οἱhoi- πλείουςpleiousmost [of them] μένουσινmenousinare still living ἕωςheōs. . . ἄρτιarti. . . , τινὲςtinessome δὲdethough καὶkaiand ἐκοιμήθησανekoimēthēsanhave fallen asleep .
7ἔπειταepeitaThen ὤφθηōphthēHe appeared ἸακώβῳIakōbōto James , εἶταeitathen τοῖςtoisthe ἀποστόλοιςapostoloisapostles . πᾶσινpasinto all
8ἔσχατονeschatonlast δὲdeAnd πάντωνpantōnof all ὡσπερεὶhōspereias τῷtōto [one] ἐκτρώματιektrōmatiof untimely birth . ὤφθηōphthēHe appeared κἀμοίkamoito me also ,
9ἘγὼEgōI γάρgarFor εἰμιeimiam ὁhothe ἐλάχιστοςelachistosleast τῶνtōnof the ἀποστόλωνapostolōnapostles ὃςhos[and] οὐκoukvvv εἰμὶeimiam ἱκανὸςhikanosunworthy καλεῖσθαιkaleisthaito be called ἀπόστολοςapostolosan apostle , διότιdiotibecause ἐδίωξαediōxaI persecuted τὴνtēnthe ἐκκλησίανekklēsianchurch τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God .
10χάριτιchariti[by the] grace δὲdeBut ΘεοῦTheouof God . εἰμιeimiI am ὅhowhat εἰμιeimiI am , καὶkaiand ἡhē- χάριςcharisgrace αὐτοῦautouHis ἡhē- εἰςeisto ἐμὲememe οὐouvvv κενὴkenēin vain . ἐγενήθηegenēthēwas not ἀλλὰallaNo , περισσότερονperissoteronharder αὐτῶνautōnthan all of them — πάντωνpantōnvvv ἐκοπίασαekopiasaI worked οὐκouknot ἐγὼegōI , δὲdeyet Ἀλλ’All’however , ἡhēwith the χάριςcharisthanks τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God , ἡhē{does} the σὺνsynwith ἐμοίemoime .
11εἴτεeiteWhether , οὖνounthen , ἐγὼegō[it was] I εἴτεeiteor ἐκεῖνοιekeinoithey , οὕτωhoutōso κηρύσσομενkēryssomenwe preach , καὶkaiand οὕτωςhoutōsthis is what ἐπιστεύσατεepisteusateyou believed .
12ΕἰEiif δὲdeBut ΧριστὸςChristosChrist κηρύσσεταιkēryssetaiit is preached ὅτιhotithat ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead , ἐγήγερταιegēgertaihas been raised πῶςpōshow λέγουσίlegousisay τινεςtines{can} some ἐνenof ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhotithat ἀνάστασιςanastasisresurrection νεκρῶνnekrōnof [the] dead ? οὐκoukno ἔστινestinthere is
13εἰeiIf δὲde- ἀνάστασιςanastasisresurrection νεκρῶνnekrōnof [the] dead ? οὐκoukno ἔστινestinthere is οὐδὲoude[then] not even ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ἐγήγερταιegēgertaihas been raised .
14εἰeiif δὲdeAnd ΧριστὸςChristosChrist οὐκoukvvv ἐγήγερταιegēgertaihas not been raised , κενὸνkenon[is] worthless , ἄραara- τὸto- κήρυγμαkērygmapreaching ἡμῶνhēmōnour κενὴkenē[so is] δὲdeIn that case , καὶkaivvv ἡhē- πίστιςpistisfaith . ὑμῶνhymōnyour
15εὑρισκόμεθαheuriskomethawe are also exposed as δὲdeIn that case , καὶkaivvv ψευδομάρτυρεςpseudomartyresfalse witnesses τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouabout God . ὅτιhotiFor ἐμαρτυρήσαμενemartyrēsamenwe have testified κατὰkataabout τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod ὅτιhotithat ἜγειρεEgeire“ Get up τὸνton- ΧριστόνChristonChrist {from the dead} , ὃνhon[Him] οὐκoukvvv ἤγειρενēgeiren[but] He did not raise εἴπερeiperif ἄραarain fact νεκροὶnekroi[the] dead οὐκoukvvv ἐγείρονταιegeirontaiare not raised .
16ΕἰEiif γὰρgarFor νεκροὶnekroi[the] dead οὐκoukvvv ἐγείρονταιegeirontaiare not raised , οὐδὲoudethen not even ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ἐγήγερταιegēgertaihas been raised .
17εἰeiif δὲdeAnd ΧριστὸςChristosChrist οὐκoukvvv ἐγήγερταιegēgertaihas not been raised , ματαίαmataiafutile ; ἡhē- πίστιςpistisfaith ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἔτιetistill ἐστὲesteyou are ἐνenin ταῖςtais- ἁμαρτίαιςhamartiaissins . ὑμῶνhymōnyour
18ἄραaraThen καὶkaialso οἱhoithose κοιμηθέντεςkoimēthentes{who} have fallen asleep ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἀπώλοντοapōlontohave perished .
19εἰeiIf ἐνenin τῇtē- ζωῇzōēlife ταύτῃtautēthis ἠλπικότεςēlpikoteshope ἐσμὲνesmenour ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist μόνονmononalone , ἐλεεινότεροιeleeinoteroito be pitied more πάντωνpantōnthan all ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnmen . ἐσμένesmenwe are
20ΝυνὶNyni{has} indeed δὲdeBut ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ἐγήγερταιegēgertaibeen raised ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead , ἀπαρχὴaparchē[the] firstfruits τῶνtōnof those who κεκοιμημένωνkekoimēmenōnhave fallen asleep . ἘγένετοEgenetobecame
21ἐπειδὴepeidēsince γὰρgarFor δι’di’[came] through ἀνθρώπουanthrōpoua man , ὁho- θάνατοςthanatosdeath . καὶkaiand δι’di’through ἀνθρώπουanthrōpoua man . ἀνάστασιςanastasis[the] resurrection νεκρῶνnekrōnof [the] dead
22ὥσπερhōsperFor as γὰρgar- ἐνenin τῷtō- ἈδὰμAdamAdam πάντεςpantesall ἀποθνήσκουσινapothnēskousindie , οὕτωhoutōso καὶkai. . . ἐνenin τῷtō- ΧριστῷChristōChrist πάντεςpantesall ζωοποιηθήσονταιzōopoiēthēsontaiwill be made alive .
23ἝκαστοςHekastoseach δὲdeBut ἐνenin τῷtō[his] ἰδίῳidiōown τάγματιtagmatiturn : ἀπαρχὴaparchē[the] firstfruits ; ΧριστόςChristosChrist ἔπειταepeitathen οἱhoithose ΧριστοῦChristou[Him] . ἐνenat τῇtē- παρουσίᾳparousiacoming , αὐτοῦautouHis
24εἶταeitaThen τὸtothe τέλοςtelosend [will come] , ὅτανhotanwhen παραδῷparadōhe might betray τὴνtēnthe βασιλείανbasileiankingdom τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōto God καὶkai[the] ΠατρίPatriFather ὅτανhotanafter καταργήσῃkatargēsēHe has destroyed πᾶσανpasanall ἀρχὴνarchēndominion , καὶkai- πᾶσανpasan- ἐξουσίανexousianauthority , καὶkaiand δύναμινdynaminpower .
25δεῖdeimust γὰρgarFor αὐτὸνautonHe βασιλεύεινbasileueinreign ἄχριςakhrisuntil οὗhou. . . ἂνan. . . θῇthēHe has put πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtous[His] ἐχθροὺςechthrousenemies ὑπὸhypounder τοὺςtous- πόδαςpodasfeet . αὐτοῦautouHis
26ἔσχατοςeschatos[The] last ἐχθρὸςechthrosenemy καταργεῖταιkatargeitaito be destroyed [is] ὁho- θάνατοςthanatosdeath .
27ΠάνταPantaeverything γὰρgarFor ὙπέταξενHypetaxen“ [God] has put ὑπὸhypounder τοὺςtous- πόδαςpodasfeet .” αὐτοῦautouHis ὅτανhotanwhen δὲdeNow εἴπῃeipēit says ὅτιhotithat πάνταpantaeverything ὑποτέτακταιhypotetaktaihas been put under Him , δῆλονdēlonclearly ὅτιhotithis ἐκτὸςektos[does] not include τοῦtouthe [One who] ὑποτάξαντοςhypotaxantosput everything under αὐτῷautōHim . τὰta. . . πάνταpanta. . .
28ὅτανhotanwhen δὲdeAnd ὑποταγῇhypotagēhave been subjected to αὐτῷautōHim , τὰta- πάνταpantaall things τότεtotethen καὶkai- αὐτὸςautosHimself ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon ὑποταγήσεταιhypotagēsetaiwill be made subject τῷtōto Him who ὑποτάξαντιhypotaxantiput αὐτῷautō{under} Him , τὰta- πάνταpantaall things ἵναhinaso that ᾖēmay be ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod τὰta- πάνταpantaall ἐνenin πᾶσινpasinall .
29ἘπεὶEpeiIf [these things are] not so , τίtiwhat ποιήσουσινpoiēsousinwill those do οἱhoiwho βαπτιζόμενοιbaptizomenoiare baptized ὑπὲρhyperfor τῶνtōnthe νεκρῶνnekrōndead ? εἰeiIf ὅλωςholōsat all , νεκροὶnekroi[the] dead οὐκoukvvv ἐγείρονταιegeirontaiare not raised τίtiwhy καὶkai- βαπτίζονταιbaptizontaiare [people] baptized ὑπὲρhyperfor τῶνtōnthe νεκρῶνnekrōndead ?
30τίtiwhy καὶkai- ἡμεῖςhēmeis{do} we κινδυνεύομενkindyneuomenendanger ourselves πᾶσανpasanevery ὥρανhōranhour ?
31καθ’kath’every ἡμέρανhēmeranday , ἀποθνῄσκωapothnēskōI face death νὴnēas surely as τὴνtēn- ὑμετέρανhymeteranabout you καύχησινkauchēsinI boast ἐνenin ἔχωechōvvv ἣνhēn- ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus τῷtō- ΚυρίῳKyriōLord . ἡμῶνhēmōnour
32εἰeiIf κατὰkatafor ἄνθρωπονanthrōponhuman [motives] , ἐθηριομάχησαethēriomachēsaI fought wild beasts ἐνenin ἘφέσῳEphesōEphesus τίtiwhat μοιmoi. . . ? τὸto- ὄφελοςophelosdid I gain εἰeiIf νεκροὶnekroi[the] dead οὐκoukvvv ἐγείρονταιegeirontaiare not raised , ΦάγωμενPhagōmen“ Let us eat καὶkaiand πίωμενpiōmendrink , αὔριονauriontomorrow γὰρgarfor ἀποθνήσκομενapothnēskomenwe die .”
33ΜὴMē{Do} not πλανᾶσθεplanasthebe deceived : ΦθείρουσινPhtheirousincorrupts ἤθηēthēcharacter .” χρηστὰchrēstagood ὁμιλίαιhomiliaicompany κακαίkakai“ Bad
34ἐκνήψατεeknēpsateSober up δικαίωςdikaiōsas you ought , καὶkaiand μὴmēvvv ἁμαρτάνετεhamartanetestop sinning ; ἀγνωσίανagnōsianare ignorant γὰρgarfor ΘεοῦTheouof God . τινεςtinessome [ of you ] ἜχουσιEchousi‘ They have πρὸςprosto ἐντροπὴνentropēnshame . ὑμῖνhyminyour λέγωlegōI tell
35Ἀλλ’All’however , ἐρεῖereiwill ask , τιςtissomeone ΠῶςPōs“ How ἐγείρονταιegeirontairaised ? οἱhoi{are} the νεκροίnekroidead ποίῳpoiōWith what kind δὲde- σώματιsōmatiof body ἔρχονταιerchontaiwill they come ? ”
36ἄφρωνaphrōnfool ! σὺsyYou ὃhoWhat σπείρειςspeireisyou sow οὐouvvv ζωοποιεῖταιzōopoieitaidoes not come to life ἐὰνeanunless μὴmē. . . ἀποθάνῃapothanēit dies .
37καὶkaiAnd ὃhowhat σπείρειςspeireisyou sow οὐou[is] not τὸtothe σῶμαsōmabody τὸtothat γενησόμενονgenēsomenonwill be , σπείρειςspeireis[just] ἀλλὰallabut γυμνὸνgymnonvvv κόκκονkokkona seed , εἰeiperhaps τύχοιtychoi. . . σίτουsitouof wheat ἤēor τινοςtinossomething τῶνtōn- λοιπῶνloipōnelse .
38ὁho- δὲdeBut ΘεὸςTheosGod αὐτῷautōit δίδωσιdidosivvv σῶμαsōmaa body καθὼςkathōsas ἠθέλησε,ethelesehe did not want καὶkaiand ἑκάστῳhekastōto each [kind] τῶνtōnof σπερμάτωνspermatōnseed τὸtothat ἴδιονidion[He gives] its own σῶμαsōmabody .
39ΟὐOuNot πᾶσαpasaall σὰρξsarxflesh [is] ἡhēthe αὐτὴautēsame : σὰρξsarxflesh [is] ἀλλὰalla- ἄλληallēone [kind of] μὲνmen- ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnMen [have] ἄλληallēone [kind of] δὲde- σάρξsarxflesh , κτηνῶνktēnōnanimals [have] ἄλληallēanother δὲde- ἰχθύωνichthyōnfish ἄλληallēanother . δὲdeand πετεινῶνpeteinōnbirds !
40καὶkai[There are] also σώματαsōmatabodies ἐπουράνιαepouraniaheavenly καὶkai[There are] also σώματαsōmatabodies ἐπίγειαepigeiaearthly Ἀλλ’All’however , ἑτέραhetera[is of] another . μὲνmen- ἡhēthe τῶνtōnof the ἐπουρανίωνepouraniōnheavenly [bodies] δόξαdoxasplendor ἑτέραhetera[is of] one [degree] , δὲdeand ἡhē[the splendor] τῶνtōnof the ἐπιγείωνepigeiōnearthly [bodies]
41ἄλληallē[has] one δόξαdoxa[degree of] splendor , ἡλίουhēliou[The] sun καὶkai- ἄλληallēanother δόξαdoxa- , σελήνηςselēnēs[the] moon καὶkai- ἄλληallēanother δόξαdoxa- , ἀστέρωνasterōn[the] stars ἀστὴρastērstar γὰρgarand ἀστέροςasterosfrom star διαφέρειdiaphereidiffers ἐνenin δόξῃdoxēsplendor .
42οὕτωhoutōso καὶkai[will it be] ἡhēwith the ἀνάστασιςanastasisresurrection τῶνtōnof the νεκρῶνnekrōndead : σπείρεταιspeiretaiWhat is sown [is] ἐνenvvv φθορᾷphthoraperishable ; ἐγείρεταιegeiretaiit is raised ἐνenvvv ἀφθαρσίᾳaphtharsiaimperishable .
43σπείρεταιspeiretaiIt is sown ἐνenin ἀτιμίᾳatimiadishonor ; ἐγείρεταιegeiretaiit is raised ἐνenin δόξῃdoxēglory . σπείρεταιspeiretaiIt is sown ἐνenin ἀσθενείᾳastheneiaweakness ; ἐγείρεταιegeiretaiit is raised ἐνenin δυνάμειdynameipower .
44σπείρεταιspeiretaiIt is sown σῶμαsōmabody ; ψυχικόνpsychikona natural ἐγείρεταιegeiretaiit is raised σῶμαsōmabody ; πνευματικόνpneumatikona spiritual ἐστίestiI have σῶμαsōmabody . ψυχικόνpsychikona natural καὶkaialso ἐστίestiI have σῶμαsōmabody , πνευματικόνpneumatikona spiritual [body] .
45οὕτωhoutōso καὶkai- γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written : ἘγένετοEgenetobecame ὁhothe πρῶτοςprōtosfirst ἄνθρωποςanthrōposman ἈδὰμAdamAdam εἰςeis. . . ψυχὴνpsychēnbeing ;” ζῶσανzōsana living ὁhothe ἔσχατοςeschatoslast ἈδὰμAdamAdam εἰςeis- πνεῦμαpneumaspirit . ζωοποιοῦνzōopoiouna life-giving
46Ἀλλ’All’however , οὐou[was] not πρῶτονprōtonfirst , τὸtothe πνευματικόνpneumatikonspiritual . ἀλλὰallabut τὸtothe ψυχικόνpsychikonnatural , ἔπειταepeitaand then τὸtothe πνευματικόνpneumatikonspiritual .
47ὁhoThe πρῶτοςprōtosfirst ἄνθρωποςanthrōposman ἐκekof γῆςgēs[the] earth , χοϊκόςchoikos[was] of the dust ὁhothe δεύτεροςdeuterossecond ἄνθρωποςanthrōposman ὁhothe ΚύριοςKyrios“ The Lord ἐξexfrom οὐρανοῦouranouheaven .
48οἷοςhoiosAs ὁho[was] the χοϊκόςchoikosearthly [man] , τοιοῦτοιtoioutoiso καὶkaialso [are] οἱhoithose who are χοϊκοίchoikoiof the earth ; καὶkaiand οἷοςhoiosas ὁho[is] the ἐπουράνιοςepouraniosheavenly [man] , τοιοῦτοιtoioutoiso καὶkaialso οἱhoi[are] those who are ἐπουράνιοιepouranioiof heaven .
49καὶkaiAnd καθὼςkathōsjust as ἐφορέσαμενephoresamenwe have borne τὴνtēnthe εἰκόναeikonalikeness τοῦtouof the χοϊκοῦchoikouearthly [man] , φορέσομενphoresomenshall we bear καὶkaiso also τὴνtēnthe εἰκόναeikonalikeness τοῦtouof the ἐπουρανίουepouraniouheavenly [man] .
50ΤοῦτοTouto- , δέdeNow φημιphēmiI declare [to you] ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , ὅτιhotithat σὰρξsarxflesh καὶkaiand αἷμαhaimablood βασιλείανbasileian[the] kingdom ΘεοῦTheouof God , κληρονομῆσαιklēronomēsaiinherit οὐouvvv δύνανταιdynantaithey can οὐδὲoudenor ἡhē{does} the φθορὰphthoraperishable τὴνtēnthe ἀφθαρσίανaphtharsianimperishable . κληρονομεῖklēronomeiinherit
51ἸδοὺIdouListen , μυστήριονmystēriona mystery : ὑμῖνhyminyou λέγωlegōI tell πάντεςpantesall μὲνmen- ΟὐOuNot κοιμηθησόμεθαkoimēthēsomethasleep , πάντεςpantesall δὲdebut ἀλλαγησόμεθαallagēsomethawe will all be changed —
52ἐνenin ἀτόμῳatomōan instant , ἐνenin ῥιπῇrhipē[the] twinkling ὀφθαλμοῦophthalmouof an eye , ἐνenat τῇtēthe ἐσχάτῃeschatēlast σάλπιγγιsalpingitrumpet . σαλπίσειsalpiseithe trumpet will sound , γάρgarFor καὶkai- οἱhoithe νεκροὶnekroidead ἐγερθήσονταιegerthēsontaiwill be raised ἄφθαρτοιaphthartoiimperishable , καὶkaiand ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe ἀλλαγησόμεθαallagēsomethawill be changed .
53δεῖdeimust γὰρgarFor τὸtothe φθαρτὸνphthartonperishable τοῦτοtouto- ἐνδύσασθαιendysasthaibe clothed ἀφθαρσίανaphtharsianwith [the] imperishable , καὶkaiand τὸtothe θνητὸνthnētonmortal τοῦτοtouto- ἐνδύσασθαιendysasthai[with] ἀθανασίανathanasianimmortality .
54ὍτανHotanWhen δὲde- τὸtothe φθαρτὸνphthartonperishable τοῦτοtouto- ἐνδύσηταιendysētaihas been clothed with ἀφθαρσίανaphtharsianimperishable καὶkaiand τὸtothe θνητὸνthnētonmortal τοῦτοtouto- ἐνδύσηταιendysētai[with] ἀθανασίανathanasianimmortality , τότεtotethen γενήσεταιgenēsetaiwill come to pass : ὁho- λόγοςlogossaying ὁhothat γεγραμμένοςgegrammenosis written ΚατεπόθηKatepothēhas been swallowed up ὁho- θάνατοςthanatos“ Death εἰςeisin νῖκοςnikosvictory .”
55ΠοῦPou“ Where , σουsou[is] your θάνατεthanateO Death , τὸto- κέντρονkentronsting ?” ποῦpouWhere , σουsou[is] your ᾅδῃhadēHades , τὸto- νῖκοςnikosvictory ?
56τὸto- δὲde- κέντρονkentronsting ?” τοῦtou- θανάτουthanatouof death [is] ἡhē- ἁμαρτίαhamartiasin , ἡhē- δὲdeand δύναμιςdynamispower τῆςtēs- ἁμαρτίαςhamartiasof sin ὁho[is] the νόμοςnomoslaw .
57τῷtō[be] to δὲdeBut ΘεῷTheōGod , χάριςcharisthanks τῷtō[be] to διδόντιdidontigives ἡμῖνhēminus τὸtothe νῖκοςnikosvictory διὰdiathrough τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist !
