2ΠροείρηκαProeirēkaI already warned [you] καὶkai. . . προλέγωprolegōI warn ὡςhōsvvv παρὼνparōnI was [with you] . τὸtothe δεύτερονdeuteronsecond time καὶkai. . . ἀπὼνapōnin my absence νῦνnynnow γράφωgraphōI write τοῖςtois- προημαρτηκόσιproemartekosisinned earlier καὶkaiand τοῖςtois- λοιποῖςloipoiselse πᾶσινpasineveryone ὅτιhoti- : ἐὰνeanIf ἔλθωelthōI return εἰςeisvvv τὸtovvv πάλινpalinvvv , οὐouvvv φείσομαιpheisomaiI will not spare [anyone] ,
3ἐπεὶepeisince δοκιμὴνdokimēnproof ζητεῖτεzēteiteyou are demanding τοῦtouthat ἐνenthrough ἐμοὶemoime . λαλοῦντοςlalountosis speaking ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ὃςhos[He] εἰςeisin dealing with ὑμᾶςhymasyou , οὐκoukvvv ἀσθενεῖastheneiis not weak ἀλλὰallabut δυνατεῖdynateiis powerful ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhyminyou .
4καὶkaivvv γὰρgarFor εἰeiwhether ἐσταυρώθηestaurōthēHe was indeed crucified ἐξexin ἀσθενείαςastheneiasweakness , ἀλλὰallayet ζῇzēHe lives ἐκekby δυνάμεωςdynameōspower . ΘεοῦTheouGod’s καὶkaiAnd though γὰρgarvvv ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe ἀσθενοῦμενasthenoumenare weak ἐνenin αὐτῷautōHim , ἀλλὰallayet ζησόμεθαzesomethalive σὺνsynwith αὐτῷautōHim ἐκekby δυνάμεωςdynameōspower ΘεοῦTheouGod’s εἰςeisto serve ὑμᾶςhymasyou .
5ἙαυτοὺςHeautousyourselves [to see] πειράζετεpeirazeteExamine εἰeiwhether ἐστὲesteyou are ἐνenin τῇtēthe πίστειpisteifaith ; ἑαυτοὺςheautousyourselves . δοκιμάζετεdokimazetetest ἢēvvv οὐκoukvvv ἐπιγινώσκετεepiginōsketeCan’t you see ἑαυτοὺςheautousfor yourselves ὅτιhotithat ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΧριστὸςChristosChrist [is] ἐνenin ὑμῖνhyminyou — ἐστὶνestinis εἰeiunless μὴmēvvv τιtianything ἀδόκιμοιadokimoihave failed . ἐστεesteyou
6ἐλπίζωelpizōI hope δὲdeAnd ὅτιhoti- γνώσεσθεgnōsestheyou will realize ὅτιhotithat ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe οὐκouknot ἐσμὲνesmenhave ἀδόκιμοιadokimoifailed the test .
7εὔχομαιeukhomaiwe pray δὲdeNow πρὸςprosto τὸνton- ΘεὸνTheonGod μὴmēvvv ποιῆσαιpoiēsaiwill not do ὑμᾶςhymas[that] you κακὸνkakonwrong — μηδένmēden[anything] οὐχouchnot ἵναhinathat ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe δόκιμοιdokimoito have stood the test , φανῶμενphanōmenwill appear ἀλλ’all’but ἵναhinathat ὑμεῖςhymeisyou τὸtowhat [is] καλὸνkalonright , ποιῆτεpoiētewill do ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe δὲdeeven if ὡςhōsto ἀδόκιμοιadokimoihave failed . ὦμενōmenappear
8οὐouvvv γὰρgarFor δυνάμεθάdynamethawe cannot do τιtianything κατὰkataagainst τῆςtēsthe ἀληθείαςalētheiastruth , ἀλλ’all’but ὑπὲρhyperfor τῆςtēsthe ἀληθείαςalētheiastruth .
9χαίρομενchairomenwe rejoice γὰρgarIn fact , ὅτανhotanwhen ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe ἀσθενῶμενasthenōmenare weak ὑμεῖςhymeisyou δὲdebut δυνατοὶdynatoistrong , ἦτεēteare τοῦτοtouto- δὲdebut καὶkaiand εὐχόμεθαeuchomethaour prayer is for τὴνtēn- ὑμῶνhymōnyour κατάρτισινkatartisinperfection .
10ΔιὰDia. . . τοῦτοtoutoThis is why ταῦταtautathese things ἀπὼνapōnwhile absent , γράφωgraphōI write ἵναhinaso that παρὼνparōnwhen I am present μὴmēvvv ἀποτόμωςapotomōssevere χρήσωμαιchrēsōmaiI will not need to be κατὰkatain my use of τὴνtēnthe ἐξουσίανexousianauthority ἣνhēnthat ἔδωκέedokegave [it] μοιmoime ὁhothe ΚύριοςKyriosLord εἰςeisfor οἰκοδομὴνoikodomēnbuilding [you] up , καὶkai- οὐκouknot εἰςeisfor καθαίρεσινkathairesintearing [you] down .
11ΛοιπόνLoiponFinally , ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , χαίρετεchaireterejoice ! καταρτίζεσθεkatartizestheAim for perfect harmony , παρακαλεῖσθεparakaleistheencourage one another , τὸto[be of] αὐτὸautoone φρονεῖτεphroneitemind , εἰρηνεύετεeirēneuetelive in peace . καὶkaiAnd ὁhothe ΘεὸςTheosGod τῆςtēs- ἀγάπηςagapēsof love καὶkaiand εἰρήνηςeirēnēspeace ἔσταιestaiwill be μεθ’meth’with ὑμῶνhymōnyou .
12ἈσπάσασθεAspasastheGreet ἀλλήλουςallēlousone another ἐνenwith ἁγίῳhagiōa holy φιλήματιphilēmatikiss . ἈσπάζονταιAspazontaisend you greetings ὑμᾶςhymas. . . . οἱhoithe ἅγιοιhagioisaints πάντεςpantesAll
13ἩHēThe χάριςcharisgrace τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , καὶkaiand ἡhēthe ἀγάπηagapēlove τοῦtouof ΘεοῦTheouGod , καὶkaiand ἡhēthe κοινωνίαkoinōniafellowship τοῦtouof the ἉγίουHagiouHoly ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit μετὰmeta[be] with πάντωνpantōnall ὑμῶνhymōnof you . ἀμὴνamēnTruly
