2οἱhoi- δὲde[When] ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioi[the] Pharisees ἰδόντεςidontessaw [this] , εἶπονeiponthey said , αὐτῷautōto [Jesus] , ἸδοὺIdou“ Here is οἱhoithe μαθηταίmathētaidisciples σουsouYour ποιοῦσινpoiousinare doing ὃhowhat οὐκoukvvv ἔξεστιexestiis unlawful ποιεῖνpoiein. . . ἐνenon σαββάτῳsabbatō[the] Sabbath . ”

4πῶςpōshow εἰσῆλθενeisēlthenHe entered εἰςeis. . . τὸνtonthe οἶκονoikonhouse τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God , καὶkaiand τοὺςtousthe ἄρτουςartousconsecrated bread τῆςtēs. . . προθέσεωςprotheseōs. . . , ἔφαγενephagen[and] ate οὓςhouswhat οὐκouknot ἐξὸνexonlawful ἦνēnwas αὐτῷautōfor [them] φαγεῖνphageinto eat , οὐδὲoude. . . τοῖςtois. . . μετ’met’. . . αὐτοῦautou. . . εἰeibut μὴmē. . . μόνοιςmonoisonly τοῖςtoisfor the ἱερεῦσινhiereusinpriests .

6λέγωlegōI tell δὲdeBut ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhotithat τοῦtouthe ἱεροῦhieroutemple μεῖζόνmeizonsomething greater than ἐστινestinis ὧδεhōdehere .
7ΕἰEiIf δὲdeonly ἐγνώκειτεegnōkeiteyou had known τίtivvv ἐστινestinthe meaning of ἔλεονeleonmercy θέλωthelō‘ I desire καὶkai- οὐounot θυσίανthysiansacrifice ,’ οὐκoukvvv ἂνanvvv κατεδικάσατεkatedikasateyou would not have condemned τοὺςtousthe ἀναιτίουςanaitiousinnocent .
8κύριοςkyriosLord γάρgarFor ἐστινestinis ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtouof ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouMan ΚαὶKai- τοῦtouof the σαββάτουsabbatouSabbath . ”
9ΚαὶKai- μεταβὰςmetabasMoving on ἐκεῖθενekeithenfrom there , ἦλθενēlthen[Jesus] entered εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēn- συναγωγὴνsynagōgēnsynagogue , αὐτῶνautōntheir
10καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidou[was there] . ἄνθρωποςanthrōposa man ἕνhena ἐκεῖekeithere ; τὴνtēnthe χεῖραcheira. . . ἔχωνechōnwith ξηράνxērana withered καὶkaiand ἐπηρώτησανepērōtēsanthey asked αὐτὸνautonHim λέγοντεςlegontes- , ΕἰEivvv ἔξεστιexestiis unlawful τοῖςtoison the σάββασιsabbasiSabbath ? ” θεραπεύεινtherapeuein[ power ] to cure ἵναhinaIn order to κατηγορήσωσινkatēgorēsōsinaccuse αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] ,
11ὉHo- δὲde- εἶπενeipenHe replied αὐτοῖςautois. . . , ΤίςTisvvv ἔσταιestai- ἐξexof ὑμῶνhymōnyou ἄνθρωποςanthrōposone ὃςhos- ἕξειhexeihas πρόβατονprobatonsheep ἕνhena καὶkaiand ἐὰνean“ If ἐμπέσῃempesēfalls τοῦτοtoutoit τοῖςtoison the σάββασινsabbasinSabbath , εἰςeisinto βόθυνονbothynona pit οὐχὶouchivvv κρατήσειkratēseiwill he not take hold of αὐτὸautoit καὶkaiand ἐγερεῖegereilift [it] out ?
12πόσῳposōHow much οὖνoun- διαφέρειdiaphereimore valuable is ἄνθρωποςanthrōposa man προβάτουprobatouthan a sheep ! ὥστεhōsteTherefore ἔξεστιexestiis unlawful τοῖςtoison the σάββασιsabbasiSabbath ? ” καλῶςkalōsgood ποιεῖνpoieinto do
13ΤότεToteThen λέγειlegei[Jesus] said τῷtōto ἀνθρώπῳanthrōpō[the] man , ἜκτεινόνEkteinon“ Stretch out σουsouyour τὴνtēn- χεῖραcheirahand . ” καὶkaiSo ἐξέτεινε,exeteinehe stretched [it] out , καὶkaiSo ἀποκατεστάθηapokatestathewas restored . ὑγιὴςhygiēsto full use , ὡςhōsjust like ἡhēthe ἄλληallēother .
14ἐξελθόντεςexelthonteswent out [and] δὲdeBut οἱhoithe ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees συμβούλιονsymboulion. . . ἔλαβονelabonplotted κατ’kat’- αὐτοῦautou- ὅπωςhopōshow αὐτὸνauton[Jesus] . ἀπολέσωσινapolesōsinthey might kill
15ὉHo- δὲde- , ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus γνοὺςgnousAware of this ἀνεχώρησενanechōrēsenwithdrew ἐκεῖθενekeithenfrom that place . καὶkai- ἠκολούθησανēkolouthēsanfollowed αὐτῷautōHim , [ὄχλοι]ochloicrowds πολλοίpolloiLarge καὶkai- ἐθεράπευσενetherapeusenHe healed αὐτοὺςautousthem πάνταςpantasall ,
16καὶkai- ἐπετίμησενepetimēsenwarning αὐτοῖςautoisthem ἵναhina- μὴmēnot φανερὸνphaneronknown . ποιήσωσινpoiēsōsinto make αὐτὸνautonHim
17ὅπωςhopōshow πληρωθῇplērōthēto fulfill τὸtowhat ῥηθὲνrhēthenwas spoken διὰdiathrough ἨσαΐουĒsaiouIsaiah τοῦtouthe προφήτουprophētouprophet λέγοντοςlegontos- :
18ἸδοὺIdou“ Here is ὁho- παῖςpaisServant , μουmouMy ὃνhonwhom ᾑρέτισαhēretisaI have chosen , ὁho- ἀγαπητόςagapētosbeloved , μουmouMy ‹εἰς›eisin ὃνhonwhom εὐδόκησενeudokēsendelights . ἡhē- ψυχήpsychēsoul μουmouMy θήσωthēsōI will put τὸto- ΠνεῦμάPneumaSpirit μουmouMy ἐπ’ep’on αὐτόνautonHim , καὶkaiand κρίσινkrisinjustice τοῖςtoisto the ἔθνεσινethnesinnations . ἀπαγγελεῖapangeleiHe will proclaim
19οὐκoukvvv ἐρίσειeriseiHe will not quarrel οὐδὲoudeor κραυγάσειkraugaseicry out ; οὐδὲoudeno ἀκούσειakouseiwill hear τιςtisone ἐνenin ταῖςtaisthe πλατείαιςplateiaisstreets . τὴνtēn- φωνὴνphōnēnvoice αὐτοῦautouHis
20κάλαμονkalamonreed συντετριμμένονsyntetrimmenonA bruised οὐouvvv κατεάξειkateaxeiHe will not break , καὶkaiand λίνονlinonwick τυφόμενονtyphomenona smoldering οὐouvvv σβέσειsbeseiHe will not extinguish , ἕωςheōstill ἂνan. . . ἐκβάλῃekbalēHe leads εἰςeisto νῖκοςnikosvictory . τὴνtēn- κρίσινkrisinjustice
21καὶkai- τῷtōIn ὀνόματιonomatiname αὐτοῦautouHis ἔθνηethnē[the] nations ἐλπιοῦσι.elpiousiwill put their hope .”
22ΤότεToteThen προσηνέχθηprosēnechthēwas brought αὐτῷautōto [Jesus] , δαιμονιζόμενοςdaimonizomenosa demon-possessed man τυφλὸςtyphlos[who was] blind καὶkaiand κωφόςkōphosmute καὶkaiand ἐθεράπευσενetherapeusenHe healed αὐτόνauton[the man] ὥστεhōsteso that τὸνton- τυφλὸνtyphlona blind [man] ? καὶkaiand κωφὸνkōphon[he] καὶkaiand λαλεῖνlaleincould speak καὶkaiand βλέπεινblepeinsee .
23καὶkai- ἐξίσταντοexistantowere astounded πάντεςpantesvvv οἱhoiThe ὄχλοιochloicrowds καὶkai- ἔλεγονelegonasked , ΜήτιMēti. . . οὗτόςhoutos. . . ἐστινestin“ Could this be ὁhothe ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ὁhothe υἱὸςhuiosSon ΔαυίδDauidof David ? ”
24ΟἱHoi- δὲdeBut when ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioi[the] Pharisees ἀκούσαντεςakousantesheard this , εἶπονeiponthey said , οὗτόςhoutos. . . οὐκoukvvv ἐκβάλλειekballeidrive out τὰta- δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons . ” εἰei“ Only μὴmē. . . ἐνenby τῷtō- ΒεελζεβοὺλBeelzeboulBeelzebul , ἄρχοντιarchonti[the] prince τῶνtōn- δαιμονίωνdaimoniōnof demons ,
25ΕἰδὼςEidōsKnowing δὲde- ὁhothe ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τὰςtas- ἐνθυμήσειςenthymēseisthoughts , αὐτῶνautōntheir εἶπενeipen[Jesus] said αὐτοῖςautoisto them , ΠᾶσαPasa“ Every βασιλείαbasileiakingdom μερισθεῖσαmeristheisadivided καθ’kath’against ἑαυτὴνheautēn. . . . ἐρημοῦταιerēmoutaiwill be laid waste , καὶkaiand πᾶσαpasaevery πόλιςpoliscity ἢēor οἰκίαoikiahousehold μερισθεῖσαmeristheisadivided καθ’kath’against ἑαυτὴνheautēn. . . . οὐouvvv σταθήσεταιstathēsetaiwill not stand .
26καὶkai- εἰeiIf ὁho- ΣατανᾶςSatanasSatan τὸνton- ΣατανᾶνSatananSatan , ἐκβάλλειekballeidrives out ἐφ’eph’against ἑαυτὸνheautonhimself . ἐμερίσθηemeristhēhe is divided πῶςpōsHow οὖνounthen σταθήσεταιstathēsetaistand ? ἡhē- βασιλείαbasileiakingdom αὐτοῦautou{can} his
27ΚαὶKaiAnd εἰeiif ἐγὼegōI ἐνenby ΒεελζεβοὺλBeelzeboulBeelzebul , ἐκβάλλωekballōdrive out τὰta- δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons οἱhoi- υἱοὶhuioisons ὑμῶνhymōn{do} your ἐνenby τίνιtiniwhom ἐκβάλλουσι;ekballousidrive [them] out ? διὰdiaSo then τοῦτοtouto. . . , αὐτοὶautoithey κριταὶkritaijudges . ἔσονταιesontaiwill be ὑμῶνhymōnyour
28εἰeiif δὲdeBut ἐγὼegōI ἐνenby ΠνεύματιPneumati[the] Spirit ΘεοῦTheouof God , ἐκβάλλωekballōdrive out τὰta- δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons ἄραarathen ἔφθασενephthasenhas come ἐφ’eph’upon ὑμᾶςhymasyou . ἪĒOr [again] , βασιλείαbasileiakingdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God
29ἡhēthe πῶςpōshow δύναταίdynataican τιςtisanyone εἰσελθεῖνeiseltheinenter εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēn- οἰκίανoikianhouse τοῦtou- ἰσχυροῦischyroua strong [man’s] καὶkaiand τὰta- σκεύηskeuēpossessions , αὐτοῦautouhis ἁρπάσαιharpasaisteal ἐὰνeanunless μὴmē. . . πρῶτονprōton{he} first δήσῃdēsēties up τὸνtonthe ἰσχυρόνischyronstrong [man] ? καὶkai- τότεtoteThen τὴνtēn- οἰκίανoikianhouse . αὐτοῦautouhis διαρπάσειdiarpaseihe can plunder
30ὉHoHe who μὴmēnot ὢνōnis μετ’met’with ἐμοῦemouMe κατ’kat’against ἐμοῦemouMe , ἐστι,estiis καὶkaiand ὁhohe who μὴmē{does} not συνάγωνsynagōngather μετ’met’with ἐμοῦemouMe σκορπίζειskorpizeiscatters .
31ΔιὰDiaTherefore τοῦτοtouto. . . λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou , πᾶσαpasaevery ἁμαρτίαhamartiasin καὶkaiand βλασφημίαblasphēmiablasphemy ἀφεθήσεταιaphethēsetaiwill be forgiven τοῖςtois- ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoismen , ἡhēthe δὲdebut τοῦtouagainst ΠνεύματοςPneumatos[the] Spirit βλασφημίαblasphēmiablasphemy οὐκouk{will} not ἀφεθήσεταιaphethēsetaibe forgiven . τοῖςtois- ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoismen ,
32καὶkaiand ὃςhosWhoever ἐὰνeanvvv εἴπῃeipēspeaks λόγονlogona word κατὰkataagainst τοῦtouthe ΥἱοῦHuiouSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἀφεθήσεταιaphethēsetaiwill be forgiven αὐτῷautō. . . , ὃςhoswhoever δ’d’but ἂνanvvv εἴπῃeipēspeaks κατὰkataagainst τοῦtou- ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit τοῦtouthe ἉγίουHagiouHoly οὐκoukvvv ἀφεθήσεταιaphethēsetaiwill not be forgiven αὐτῷautō. . . , οὔτεoute[either] ἐνenin τῷtō- νῦνnynnow on αἰῶνιaiōniage οὔτεoute[or] ἐνenin τῷtōthe μέλλοντιmellonti[one] to come .
33ἪĒ- ποιήσατεpoiēsateMake τὸtoa δένδρονdendrontree καλὸνkalongood καὶkaiand τὸνton- καρπὸνkarponfruit αὐτοῦautouits καλὸνkalongood ἪĒ- ποιήσατεpoiēsateMake τὸtoa δένδρονdendrontree σαπρὸνsapronbad καὶkaiand τὸνton- καρπὸνkarponfruit αὐτοῦautouits σαπρὸνsapronbad ἐκekby γὰρgarfor τοῦtou[its] καρποῦkarpoufruit . τὸtoa δένδρονdendrontree γινώσκεταιginōsketaiis known
34γεννήματαgennēmataYou brood ἐχιδνῶνechidnōnof vipers , πῶςpōshow δύνασθεdynasthecan you ἀγαθὰagathaanything good ? λαλεῖνlaleinsay πονηροὶponēroievil ὄντεςonteswho are ἐκekout of γὰρgarFor τοῦtouthe περισσεύματοςperisseumatosoverflow τῆςtēsof the καρδίαςkardiasheart , τὸtothe στόμαstomamouth λαλεῖlaleispeaks .
35ὁhoThe ἀγαθὸςagathosgood ἄνθρωποςanthrōposman ἐκekout of τοῦtouhis ἀγαθοῦagathougood θησαυροῦthēsauroustore of treasure , ἐκβάλλειekballeibrings ἀγαθάagathagood things καὶkaiand ὁhothe πονηρὸςponērosevil ἄνθρωποςanthrōposman ἐκekout of τοῦtouhis πονηροῦponērouevil θησαυροῦthēsauroustore of treasure . ἐκβάλλειekballeibrings πονηράponēraevil things
36λέγωlegōI tell δὲdeBut ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhotifor πᾶνpanevery ῥῆμαrhēmaword ἀργὸνargoncareless ὃho- ἐὰνeanvvv λαλήσωσινlalesosinthey have spoken . οἱhoi- ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoimen ἀποδώσουσιapodosousiwill give περὶperi- αὐτοῦautou- λόγονlogonan account ἐνenon ἡμέρᾳhēmera[the] day κρίσεωςkriseōsof judgment
37ἐκekby γὰρgarFor τῶνtōn- λόγωνlogōnwords σουsouyour δικαιωθήσῃdikaiōthēsēyou will be acquitted , καὶkaiand ἐκekby τῶνtōn- λόγωνlogōnwords σουsouyour καταδικασθήσῃkatadikasthēsēyou will be condemned . ”
38ΤότεToteThen ἀπεκρίθησανapekrithēsansaid to Him τινεςtinessome τῶνtōnof the γραμματέωνgrammateōnscribes καὶkaiand ΦαρισαίωνPharisaiōnPharisees λέγοντεςlegontes. . . , ΔιδάσκαλεDidaskale“ Teacher , θέλομενthelomenwe want ἀπὸapofrom σοῦsouYou . ” σημεῖονsēmeiona sign ἰδεῖνideinto see
39ὉHo- δὲde- ἀποκριθεὶςapokritheis[Jesus] replied εἶπενeipen- αὐτοῖςautois- , ΓενεὰGeneageneration πονηρὰponēra“ A wicked καὶkaiand μοιχαλὶςmoichalisadulterous σημεῖονsēmeiona sign , ἐπιζητεῖepizēteidemands καὶkai[but] σημεῖονsēmeiona sign , οὐounone δοθήσεταιdothēsetaiwill be given αὐτῇautēit εἰμὴeimeonly for τὸtothe σημεῖονsēmeionsign ἸωνᾶIōnaJonah . τοῦtouof the προφήτουprophētouprophet
40ὥσπερhōsperas γὰρgarFor ἘγένετοEgenetothere was ἸωνᾶςIōnasJonah ὁhothe προφήτηςprophētēsa prophet ἐνenin τῇtēthe κοιλίᾳkoiliabelly τοῦtouof the κήτουςkētousgreat fish , τρεῖςtreisthree ἡμέραςhēmerasdays καὶkaiand τρεῖςtreisthree νύκταςnyktasnights οὕτωςhoutōsso ἔσταιestaiwill be ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἐνenin τῇtēthe καρδίᾳkardiaheart τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth . τρεῖςtreisthree ἡμέραςhēmerasdays καὶkaiand τρεῖςtreisthree νύκταςnyktasnights
41ἌνδρεςAndresThe men ΝινευῖταιNineuitaiof Nineveh ἀναστήσονταιanastēsontaiwill stand ἐνenat τῇtēthe κρίσειkriseijudgment μετὰmetawith τῆςtēs- γενεᾶςgeneasgeneration ταύτηςtautēsthis καὶkaiand κατακρινοῦσινkatakrinousincondemn αὐτήνautēnit ; ὅτιhotifor μετενόησανmetenoēsanthey repented εἰςeisat τὸtothe κήρυγμαkērygmapreaching ἸωνᾶIōnaof Jonah , καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidounow πλεῖονpleion[One] greater than ἸωνᾶIōnaJonah ὧδεhōdeis here .
42βασίλισσαbasilissaThe Queen νότουnotouof [the] South ἐγερθήσεταιegerthēsetaiwill rise ἐνenat τῇtēthe κρίσειkriseijudgment μετὰmetawith τῆςtēs- γενεᾶςgeneasgeneration ταύτηςtautēsthis καὶkaiand κατακρινεῖkatakrineicondemn αὐτήνautēnit ; ὅτιhotifor ἦλθενēlthenshe came ἐκekfrom τῶνtōnthe περάτωνperatōnends τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth ἀκοῦσαιakousaito hear τὴνtēnthe σοφίανsophianwisdom Σολομῶντος,solomontosof Solomon , καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidounow πλεῖονpleion[One] greater than Σολομῶντοςsolomontosof Solomon , ὧδεhōdeis here .
43ὍτανHotanWhen δὲde- τὸtoan ἀκάθαρτονakathartonunclean πνεῦμαpneumaspirit ἐξέλθῃexelthēcomes out ἀπὸapoof τοῦtoua ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouman , διέρχεταιdierchetaiit passes δι’di’through ἀνύδρωνanydrōnarid τόπωνtopōnplaces ζητοῦνzētounseeking ἀνάπαυσινanapausinrest καὶkaiand οὐχouchvvv εὑρίσκειheuriskeidoes not find [it] .
44τότεtoteThen λέγειlegeiit says , ΕἰςEisto τὸνtonthe οἶκόνoikonhouse μουmou- ἐπιστρέψωepistrepsō‘ I will return ὅθενhothenvvv ἐξῆλθονexēlthonI left . ’ καὶkai- ἐλθὸνelthonOn its return , εὑρίσκειheuriskeiit finds [the house] σχολάζονταscholazontavacant , καὶkaiand σεσαρωμένονsesarōmenonswept clean , καὶkaiand κεκοσμημένονkekosmēmenonput in order .
45τότεtoteThen πορεύεταιporeuetaiit goes καὶkaiand παραλαμβάνειparalambaneibrings with it μεθ’meth’. . . ἑαυτοῦheautou. . . ἑπτὰheptaseven ἕτεραheteraother πνεύματαpneumataspirits πονηρότεραponēroteramore wicked ἑαυτοῦheautouthan itself , καὶkaiand εἰσελθόνταeiselthontathey go in κατοικεῖkatoikei[and] dwell ἐκεῖekeithere ; καὶkaiand γίνεταιginetaiis τὰtathe ἔσχαταeschatafinal [plight] τοῦtouthat ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouman ἐκείνουekeinouof χείροναcheironaworse τῶνtōnthan the πρώτωνprōtōnfirst . οὕτωςhoutōsSo ἔσταιestaiwill it be καὶkai. . . τῇtē- γενεᾷgeneageneration . ” τῇtē- πονηρᾷponērawicked ταύτῃtautēwith this
46ἜτιEtiWhile ‹δὲ›de. . . αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] λαλοῦντοςlalountoswas still speaking τοῖςtoisto the ὄχλοιςochloiscrowds , ἰδοὺidou- ἡhē- μήτηρmētērmother καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ἀδελφοὶadelphoibrothers αὐτοῦautouHis εἱστήκεισανheistēkeisanstood ἔξωexōoutside , ζητοῦντεςzētounteswanting λαλῆσαιlalēsaito speak αὐτῷautōto Him .
