2καὶkai- εἶδεeidesaw δύοdyotwo πλοῖαploiaboats ἑστῶταhestōtavvv παρὰparaat the edge τὴνtēnof the λίμνηνlimnēnlake . οἱhoiThe δὲde- ἁλιεῖςhalieisfishermen ἀποβάντεςapobanteshad left ἀπ’ap’. . . αὐτῶνautōnthem ἀπέπλυνονapeplunonand were washing τὰta[their] δίκτυαdiktyanets .
3ἐμβὰςembas[Jesus] got δὲde- εἰςeisinto ἓνhen- τῶνtōnthe πλοίωνploiōnboat ὃho- ἦνēnbelonging ΣίμωνοςSimōnosto Simon ἠρώτησενērōtēsen[and] asked αὐτὸνautonhim ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēs- γῆςgēsshore . ἐπαναγαγεῖνepanagageinto put out ὀλίγονoligona little καὶkaiand καθίσαςkathisassitting down , ἐδίδασκενedidaskenHe taught ἐκekfrom τοῦtouthe πλοίουploiouboat . τοὺςtousthe ὄχλουςochlouspeople
4ὩςHōsWhen δὲde- ἐπαύσατοepausato[Jesus] had finished λαλῶνlalōnspeaking , εἰπὲeipesay πρὸςprosto τὸνton- ΣίμωναSimōnaSimon , ἘπανάγαγεEpanagage“ Put out εἰςeisinto τὸto- βάθοςbathosdeep [water] καὶkaiand χαλάσατεchalasatelet down τὰta- δίκτυαdiktyanets ὑμῶνhymōnyour εἰςeisfor ἄγρανagrana catch . ”
5ΚαὶKai- ἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisreplied ΣίμωνSimōnSimon εἶπενeipen- , αὐτῷautōHim ἘπιστάταEpistata“ Master , ” δι’di’vvv ὅληςholēsall νυκτὸςnyktosnight κοπιάσαντεςkopiasantes“ we have worked hard οὐδὲνouden[anything] . ἐλάβομενelabomen[without] catching ἐπὶepibecause δὲdeBut τῷtō- ῥήματίrhēmatisay so , σουsouYou χαλάσωchalasōI will let down τῷtō- δίκτυον.diktuonnets .
6καὶkaiWhen τοῦτοtoutoso , ποιήσαντεςpoiēsantesthey had done συνέκλεισανsynekleisanthey caught πλῆθοςplēthosnumber ἰχθύωνichthyōnof fish πολύpoly[such] a large διερρήγνυτοdierregnutobegan to tear . δὲde[that] τῷtōthe δίκτυονdiktuonnets . αὐτῶνautōntheir
7καὶkaiSo κατένευσανkateneusanthey signaled τοῖςtoisto [their] μετόχοιςmetochoispartners τοῖςtoisto [their] ἐνenin τῷtōthe ἑτέρῳheterōother πλοίῳploiōboat τοῦtou- ἐλθόνταςelthontasto come συλλαβέσθαιsyllabesthai[and] help αὐτοῖςautoisthem , καὶkaiand ἦλθον*ēlthonthey came καὶkaiand ἔπλησανeplēsanfilled ἀμφότεραamphoteraboth τὰta- πλοῖαploiaboats ὥστεhōsteso [full] that βυθίζεσθαιbythizesthaibegan to sink . αὐτάautathey
8ἸδὼνIdōnsaw [this] , δὲdeWhen ΣίμωνSimōnSimon ΠέτροςPetrosPeter προσέπεσεprosepese[and] fell down before τοῖςtois- γόνασινgonasinknees . ἸησοῦIēsouJesus’ λέγωνlegōnhe said , ἜξελθεExelthe“ Go away ἀπ’ap’from ἐμοῦemoume , ὅτιhoti“ for ἀνὴρanērman . ” ἁμαρτωλόςhamartōlosa sinful εἰμιeimiI am ΚύριεKyrieLord , ”
9θάμβοςthamboswere astonished γὰρgarFor περιέσχενperieschenvvv αὐτὸνautonhe καὶkaiand πάνταςpantas- τοὺςtoushis companions σὺνsyn. . . αὐτῷautō. . . ἐπὶepiat τῇtēthe ἄγρᾳagracatch τῶνtōnof ἰχθύωνichthyōnfish ἡhēthe συνέλαβονsynelabonthey had taken ,
10ὁμοίωςhomoiōsso [were] δὲdeand καὶkai. . . ἸάκωβονIakōbonJames καὶkaiand ἸωάννηνIōannēnJohn , υἱοὺςhuious[the] sons ΖεβεδαίουZebedaiouof Zebedee . οἳhoi- ἦσανēsan- κοινωνοὶkoinōnoipartners τῷtō- ΣίμωνιSimōni[his] καὶkaiand εἰπὲeipesay πρὸςprosto τὸνton- ΣίμωναSimōnaSimon . ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΜὴMē“ {Do} not φοβοῦphoboube afraid , ” ἀπὸapo“ From τοῦtou- νῦνnynnow on ἀνθρώπουςanthrōpousmen . ” ἔσῃesēyou will ζωγρῶνzōgrōncatch
11καὶkaiAnd when καταγαγόντεςkatagagontesthey had brought τὰta[their] πλοῖαploiaboats ἐπὶepivvv τὴνtēnvvv γῆνgēnashore , ἀφέντεςaphentesthey left ἅπανταhapantaall ἠκολούθησανēkolouthēsan[and] followed αὐτῷautōHim .
12ΚαὶKaiWhile ἐγένετοegeneto. . . ἐνen. . . τῷtō- εἶναιeinaiwas αὐτὸνauton[Jesus] ἐνen. . . μιᾷmiaone τῶνtōnof the πόλεωνpoleōntowns , καὶkai- ἰδοὺidou[came along] ἀνὴρanēra man πλήρηςplērēs[who was] covered λέπραςlepraswith leprosy . καὶkai- ἰδὼνidōnWhen he saw τὸνton- ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus , πεσὼνpesōnhe fell ἐπὶepivvv πρόσωπονprosōponfacedown ἐδεήθηedeēthē[and] begged αὐτοῦautouHim λέγωνlegōn- , ΚύριεKyrie“ Lord , ἐὰνeanif θέλῃςthelēsYou are willing , δύνασαίdynasaiYou can μεme. . . . ” καθαρίσαιkatharisaimake me clean
13ΚαὶKai- ἐκτείναςekteinas[Jesus] reached out τὴνtēn[His] χεῖραcheirahand ἥψατοhēpsato[and] touched αὐτοῦautou[the man] . εἰπὼνeipōnHe said ΘέλωThelō“ I am willing , ” καθαρίσθητιkatharisthēti“ Be clean ! ” καὶkaiAnd εὐθέωςeutheōsimmediately ἡhēthe λέπραlepraleprosy ἀπῆλθενapēlthenleft ἀπ’ap’. . . αὐτοῦautouhim .
14ΚαὶKai- αὐτὸςautos[Jesus] παρήγγειλενparēngeileninstructed αὐτῷautōhim . μηδενὶmēdeni[anyone] , ” εἰπεῖνeipein“ {Do not} tell ἈλλὰAlla“ But ἀπελθὼνapelthōngo , δεῖξονdeixonshow σεαυτὸνseautonyourself τῷtōto the ἱερεῖhiereipriest καὶkaiand προσένεγκεprosenenkepresent the offering περὶperifor τοῦtou- καθαρισμοῦkatharismoucleansing , σουsouyour καθὼςkathōs- προσέταξεprosetaxeprescribed ΜωϋσῆςMōusēsMoses εἰςeisas μαρτύριονmartyriona testimony αὐτοῖςautoisto them . ”
15ΔιήρχετοDiērchetospread δὲdeBut μᾶλλονmallonall the more , ὁhothe λόγοςlogosnews περὶperiabout αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] καὶkaiand συνήρχοντοsynērchontocame ὄχλοιochloicrowds πολλοὶpolloigreat ἀκούεινakoueinto hear [Him] καὶkaiand θεραπεύεσθαιtherapeuesthaito be healed ὑπ’hyp’under αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] ἀπὸapoof τῶνtōn- ἀσθενειῶνastheneiōnsicknesses . αὐτῶνautōntheir
16αὐτὸςautosHe δὲdeYet ἦνēnfrequently ὑποχωρῶνhypochōrōnwithdrew ἐνento ταῖςtaisthe ἐρήμοιςerēmoiswilderness καὶkaito προσευχόμενοςproseuchomenospray .
17ΚαὶKaivvv ἐγένετοegenetovvv ἐνenvvv μιᾷmiaOne τῶνtōn- ἡμερῶνhēmerōnday καὶkai- αὐτὸςautos[Jesus] ἦνēnwas διδάσκωνdidaskōnteaching , καὶkaiand ἦσανēsanwere καθήμενοιkathēmenoisitting [there] . ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioi[the] Pharisees καὶkaiand νομοδιδάσκαλοιnomodidaskaloiteachers of the law οἳhoi[People] ἦσανēsanhad ἐληλυθότεςelēlythotescome ἐκekfrom πάσηςpasēsevery κώμηςkōmēsvillage τῆςtēs- ΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasof Galilee καὶkaiand ἸουδαίαςIoudaiasJudea , καὶkaiand ἸερουσαλήμIerousalēmfrom Jerusalem καὶkaiand δύναμιςdynamis[the] power ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord ἦνēnwas [present] εἰςeisfor τὸto- ἰᾶσθαιiasthaito heal [the sick] . αὐτούςautous. . . ,
18καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidou. . . ἄνδρεςandres[some] men φέροντεςpherontes[came] carrying ἐπὶepion κλίνηςklinēsa mat . ἄνθρωπονanthrōponman ὃςhosvvv ἦνēnvvv παραλελυμένοςparalelymenosa paralyzed καὶkai- ἐζήτουνezētounThey tried αὐτὸνauton. . . εἰσενεγκεῖνeisenenkeinto bring him inside καὶkai- θεῖναιtheinaito set ἐνώπιονenōpionbefore αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] ,
19καὶkaibut μὴmēvvv εὑρόντεςheurontesthey could not find ποίαςpoiasa way εἰσενέγκωσινeisenenkōsin- αὐτὸνauton- διὰdiathrough τὸνtonthe ὄχλονochloncrowd . ἀναβάντεςanabantesSo they went up ἐπὶepion τὸtothe δῶμαdōmaroof διὰdiathrough τῶνtōnthe κεράμωνkeramōntiles καθῆκανkathēkanand lowered αὐτὸνautonhim σὺνsynon τῷtō[his] κλινιδίῳklinidiōmat εἰςeisinto τὸtothe μέσονmesonmiddle [of the crowd] , ἔμπροσθενemprosthenright in front of τοῦtou- ἸησοῦIēsouJesus .
20ΚαὶKaiWhen ἰδὼνidōn[Jesus] saw τὴνtēn- πίστινpistinfaith , αὐτῶνautōntheir εἶπενeipenHe said , αὐτῷautōhim . ἌνθρωπεAnthrōpe“ Friend , ἀφέωνταίapheōntaiare forgiven σοιsoi. . . . ” αἱhai- ἁμαρτίαιhamartiaisins σουsouyour
21ΚαὶKaiBut ἤρξαντοērxantobegan διαλογίζεσθαιdialogizesthaithinking to themselves οἱhoi- γραμματεῖςgrammateisscribes καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees λέγοντεςlegontes. . . , ΤίςTis“ Who ἐστινestinis οὗτοςhoutosthis ὃςhos[man] who λαλεῖlaleispeaks βλασφημίαςblasphēmiasblasphemy ? τίςtisWho δύναταιdynataican ἀφιέναιaphienaito forgive ἁμαρτίαςhamartiassins ... ” εἰeibut μὴmē. . . μόνοςmonosalone ? ” ὁho- ΘεόςTheosGod
22ἘπιγνοὺςEpignousKnowing δὲde- ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τοὺςtous- διαλογισμοὺςdialogismouswere thinking , αὐτῶνautōnwhat they ἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisreplied εἰπὲeipesay πρὸςpros. . . αὐτούςautous. . . , ΤίTi“ Why διαλογίζεσθεdialogizestheare you thinking [these things] ἐνenin ταῖςtais- καρδίαιςkardiaishearts ? ὑμῶνhymōnyour
23τίtiWhich ἐστινestinis εὐκοπώτερονeukopōteroneasier : εἰπεῖνeipeinto say , ἈφέωνταίApheōntaiare forgiven σοιsoi. . . , ’ αἱhai- ἁμαρτίαιhamartiaisins σουsou‘ Your ἢēor εἰπεῖνeipeinto say , ἜγειρεEgeire‘ Get up καὶkaiand περιπάτειperipateiwalk ? ’
24ἵναhinaso that δὲdeBut εἰδῆτεeidēteyou may know ὅτιhotithat ἐξουσίανexousianauthority ἔχειecheihas ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἐπὶepion τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth ἀφιέναιaphienaito forgive ἁμαρτίαςhamartiassins ... ” εἰπὲeipesay τῷtōto the παραλελυμένῳparalelymenōparalytic , ΣοὶSoiyou , λέγωlegō“ I tell ἔγειρεegeireget up , καὶkai- ἄραςaraspick up τὸto- κλινίδιόνklinidionmat , σουsouyour πορεύουporeuou[and] go εἰςeisvvv τὸνtonvvv οἶκόνoikonhome . ” σουsouvvv

26καὶkai- ἔκστασιςekstasisamazement ἔλαβενelabenwas taken with ἅπανταςhapantasEveryone καὶkai- ἐδόξαζονedoxazonglorified τὸνton- ΘεόνTheonGod . καὶkai- ἐπλήσθησανeplēsthēsanThey were filled φόβουphobouwith awe λέγοντεςlegontes[and] said ὅτιhoti- , ΕἴδομενEidomen“ We have seen παράδοξαparadoxaremarkable things σήμερονsēmerontoday . ”

29καὶkaiand ἐποίησεepoiesehas done δοχὴνdochēnbanquet μεγάληνmegalēna great ΛευὶςLeuisLevi αὐτῷautōHim . ἐνenat τῇtē- οἰκίᾳoikiahouse . αὐτοῦautouhis καὶkai- ἦνēnwas there , ὄχλοςochloscrowd τελωνῶνtelōnōnof tax collectors πολὺςpolysA large καὶkai- ἄλλωνallōnothers οἳhoiwho ἦσανēsanwere μετ’met’with αὐτῶνautōnthem . κατακείμενοιkatakeimenoieating
30καὶkaiBut ἐγόγγυζονegongyzoncomplained οἱhoi- γραμματεῖςgrammateisscribes αὐτῶνautōntheir καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees πρὸςprosto τοὺςtous- μαθητὰςmathētasdisciples αὐτοῦautou[Jesus’] λέγοντεςlegontes- , ΔιὰDia“ Why τίti. . . μετὰmetawith τῶνtōn- τελωνῶνtelōnōntax collectors καὶkaiand ἁμαρτωλῶνhamartōlōnsinners ? ” ἐσθίετεesthietedo you eat καὶkaiand πίνετεpinetedrink

35ἐλεύσονταιeleusontaiwill come δὲdeBut ἡμέραιhēmerai[the] time καὶkai- ὅτανhotanwhen ἀπαρθῇaparthēwill be taken ἀπ’ap’from αὐτῶνautōnthem ; ὁhothe νυμφίοςnymphiosbridegroom τότεtotethen νηστεύσουσινnēsteusousinthey will fast . ” ἐνen. . . ἐκείναιςekeinais. . . ταῖςtais. . . ἡμέραιςhēmerais. . .

37ΚαὶKaiAnd οὐδεὶςoudeisno one βάλλειballeipours οἶνονoinonwine νέονneonnew εἰςeisinto ἀσκοὺςaskouswineskins . παλαιούςpalaiousold εἰeivvv δὲdevvv μήγε,mege[he is unable] , ῥήξειrhēxeiwill burst ὁho- οἶνοςoinoswine ὁho- νέοςneosnew τοὺςtousthe ἀσκούςaskousskins , καὶkai- αὐτὸςautos[the wine] ἐκχυθήσεταιekchythēsetaiwill spill , καὶkaiand οἱhoithe ἀσκοὶaskoiwineskins ἀπολοῦνταιapolountaiwill be ruined .
38ἀλλὰallaInstead , οἶνονoinonwine νέονneonnew εἰςeisinto ἀσκοὺςaskouswineskins . καινοὺςkainousnew βλητέονblēteonis poured καὶkaiAnd ἀμφότεροιamphoteroiBoth συντηροῦνταιsunterountaimaintained
39καὶkaiAnd οὐδεὶςoudeisno one πιὼνpiōnafter drinking παλαιὸνpalaionold [wine ] εὐθέωςeutheōsimmediately θέλειtheleiwants νέονneonnew , λέγειlegeihe says , γάρgarfor ὉHo‘ The παλαιὸςpalaiosold χρηστότερόςkhrestoteroskind ἐστινestinis
