4ΚαὶKaiAnd ἄφεςaphesforgive ἡμῖνhēminus τὰςtas- ἁμαρτίαςhamartiassins , ἡμῶνhēmōnour ΚαὶKaiAnd γὰρgarfor αὐτοὶautoiwe ἀφίεμενaphiemenforgive παντὶpantieveryone who τὸto- ὀφείλοντιopheilontisins against ἡμῖνhēminus . ΚαὶKaiAnd μὴnot εἰσενέγκῃςeisenenkēslead ἡμᾶςhēmasus εἰςeisinto πειρασμόνpeirasmontemptation . ’” ἈλλὰAlla- ῥῦσαιrisaiprotect ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἀπὸapowith τοῦtouwho πονηροῦponērouevil [treasure of his heart] .
5καὶkaiand εἴπῃeipē. . . , πρόςprosto αὐτούςautousthem , ΤίςTis“ [Suppose one] ἐξexof ὑμῶνhymōnyou ἕξειhexei- φίλονphilon[his] friend καὶkai- πορεύσεταιporeusetaigoes πρὸςprosto αὐτὸνauton- μεσονυκτίουmesonyktiouat midnight καὶkaiand ἐρεῖereispeaks αὐτῷautō. . . , ΦίλεPhile‘ Friend , χρῆσόνchrēsonlend μοιmoime τρεῖςtreisthree ἄρτουςartousloaves [of bread] ,
6ἐπειδὴepeidēbecause φίλοςphilos[a] friend μουmouof mine παρεγένετοparegenetohas come ἐξexon ὁδοῦhodoua journey , πρόςprosto μεmeme καὶkaiand οὐκouknothing ἔχωechōI have ho- παραθήσωparathēsōto set before αὐτῷautōhim . ’
7ΚἀκεῖνοςKakeinosAnd [suppose the one] ἔσωθενesōtheninside ἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisanswers εἴπῃeipē. . . , Μή‘ {Do} not μοιmoime . κόπουςkopousbother πάρεχεparechevvv ἤδηēdē{is} already [My] θύραthyradoor κέκλεισταιkekleistaishut , καὶkaiand τὰta- παιδίαpaidiachildren μουmoumy μετ’met’and ἐμοῦemouI εἰςeisin τὴνtēn- κοίτηνkoitēnbed . εἰσίνeisinare οὐouvvv δύναμαιdynamaiI cannot ἀναστὰςanastasget up δοῦναίdounaito give σοιsoiyou [anything] . ’
8ΛέγωLegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou , εἰeithough καὶkaieven οὐouvvv δώσειdōseito provide αὐτῷautōfor him ἀναστὰςanastashe will not get up διὰdiabecause of τὸtovvv εἶναιeinaivvv αὐτοῦautouhis φίλονphilonfriendship , διάdiabecause of γεgeyet τὴνtēn- ἀναίδειανanaideianpersistence , αὐτοῦautou[the man’s] ἐγερθεὶςegertheishe will get up δώσειdōsei[and] give αὐτῷautōhim ὅσωνhosōnas much as χρῄζειchrēzeihe needs .
9ΚἀγὼKagōSo I ὑμῖνhyminyou : λέγωlegōtell αἰτεῖτεaiteiteAsk , καὶkaiand δοθήσεταιdothēsetaiit will be given ὑμῖνhyminto you ; ζητεῖτεzēteiteseek , καὶkaiand εὑρήσετεheurēseteyou will find ; κρούετεkroueteknock , καὶkaiand ἀνοιγήσεταιanoigēsetai[the door] will be opened ὑμῖνhyminto you .
10πᾶςpaseveryone γὰρgarFor ho- αἰτῶνaitōnwho asks λαμβάνειlambaneireceives ; καὶkai- hohe who ζητῶνzētōnseeks εὑρίσκειheuriskeifinds ; καὶkaiand τῷto him who κρούοντιkrouontiknocks , ἀνοιχθήσεται.anoikhthesetai[the door] will be opened
11ΤίναTinaWhat δὲde- ἐξexamong ὑμῶνhymōnyou , τὸνton- πατέραpaterafather αἰτήσειaitēseiasks for ho[if his] υἱὸςhuiosson ἄρτονartonbread . μὴnot λίθωνlithōnstones ἐπιδώσειepidōseiwill give αὐτῷautōhim ēOr καὶkai. . . ἰχθύνichthyna fish , Μή‘ {Do} not ἀντὶanti. . . ἰχθύοςichthyos. . . ? ὄφινophina snake ἐπιδώσειepidōseiwill give αὐτῷautōhim
12ēOr καὶkai. . . ἐὰνeanIf αἰτήσειaitēsei[if] he asks for ᾠόνōonan egg , Μή‘ {Do} not ἐπιδώσειepidōseiwill give αὐτῷautōhim σκορπίονskorpiona scorpion ?
13εἰeiif οὖνounSo ὑμεῖςhymeisyou ὑπάρχοντεςhyparchonteswho are πονηροὶponēroievil οἴδατεoidateknow how δόματαdomatagifts ἀγαθὰagathagood διδόναιdidonaito give τοῖςtoisto τέκνοιςteknoischildren , ὑμῶνhymōnyour πόσῳposōhow much μᾶλλονmallonmore ho{will} [your] ΠατὴρPatērFather ho- ἐξexin οὐρανοῦouranouheaven δώσειdōseigive ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit ἀγαθῶνagathōnwith good things , τοῖςtoisto those who αἰτοῦσινaitousinask αὐτόνautonHim ! ”
14ΚαὶKai[One day] ἦνēn[Jesus] was ἐκβάλλωνekballōndriving out δαιμόνιονdaimoniona demon καὶkai αὐτὸautothat ἦνēnwas κωφόνkōphonmute . ἐγένετοegeneto. . . δὲdeAnd when τοῦtouthe δαιμονίουdaimonioudemon ἐξελθόντοςexelthontoswas gone , ἐλάλησενelalēsenspoke . hothe κωφόςkōphos[man who had been] mute καὶkai- ἐθαύμαζονethaumazonwondering οἱhoiThe ὄχλοιochloicrowds
15τινὲςtinessome δὲdebut ἐξexof αὐτῶνautōnthem εἶπον*eiponsaid , ἘνEn“ [It is] by ΒεελζεβοὺλBeelzeboulBeelzebul , τῷthe ἄρχοντιarchontiprince τῶνtōnof the δαιμονίωνdaimoniōndemons , ἐκβάλλειekballei[that] He drives out τὰta- δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons . ”
16ἕτεροιheteroiothers δὲdeAnd πειράζοντεςpeirazontestested σημεῖονsēmeiona sign παρ’par’- αὐτοῦautouHim ἐζήτουνezētounby demanding ἐξexfrom οὐρανοῦouranouheaven .
17ΑὐτὸςAutos[Jesus] δὲde- εἰδὼςeidōsKnowing αὐτῶνautōntheir τὰta- διανοήματαdianoēmatathoughts , εἶπενeipensaid αὐτοῖςautoisto them , ΠᾶσαPasa“ Every βασιλείαbasileiakingdom ἐφ’eph’against ἑαυτὴνheautēnitself διαμερισθεῖσαdiameristheisadivided ἐρημοῦταιerēmoutaiwill be laid waste , καὶkaiand οἶκοςoikosa house ἐπὶepidivided against οἶκονoikona house πίπτειpipteiwill fall .
18εἰeiIf δὲde- καὶkai- ho- ΣατανᾶςSatanasSatan ἐφ’eph’against ἑαυτὸνheautonhimself , διεμερίσθηdiemeristhēis divided πῶςpōshow σταθήσεταιstathēsetaistand ? - βασιλείαbasileiakingdom αὐτοῦautou{can} his ὅτιhotiAfter all , λέγετεlegeteyou say that ἐνenby ΒεελζεβοὺλBeelzeboulBeelzebul . μεmeI ἐκβάλλεινekballeindrive out τὰta- δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons
19εἰeiif δὲdeAnd ἐγὼegōI ἐνenby ΒεελζεβοὺλBeelzeboulBeelzebul , ἐκβάλλωekballōdrive out τὰta- δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons οἱhoi- υἱοὶhuioisons ὑμῶνhymōn{do} your ἐνenby τίνιtiniwhom ἐκβάλλουσι;ekballousidrive [them] out ? διὰdiaSo then τοῦτοtouto. . . , αὐτοὶautoithey κριταὶkritaijudges . ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἔσονταιesontaiwill be
20εἰeiif δὲdeBut ἐνenby δακτύλῳdaktylō[the] finger ΘεοῦTheouof God , ἐκβάλλωekballōdrive out τὰta- δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons ἄραarathen ἔφθασενephthasenhas come ἐφ’eph’upon ὑμᾶςhymasyou . the βασιλείαbasileiakingdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God
21ὍτανHotanWhen ho- ἰσχυρὸςischyrosa strong [man] , καθωπλισμένοςkathōplismenosfully armed , φυλάσσῃphylassēguards τὴνtēn- ἑαυτοῦheautouhis αὐλήνaulēnhouse , ἐνenvvv εἰρήνῃeirēnēsecure . ἐστὶestiis τὰta- ὑπάρχονταhyparchontapossessions αὐτοῦautouhis ἐπὰνepanwhen
22δὲdeBut ho- ἰσχυρότεροςischyroteros[someone] stronger αὐτοῦautou. . . ἐπελθὼνepelthōnattacks νικήσῃnikēsē[and] overpowers αὐτόνautonhim , τὴνtēn- πανοπλίανpanoplianarmor αὐτοῦautou[the] αἴρειaireihe takes away ἐφ’eph’in which ἐπεποίθειepepoithei[the man] trusted , καὶkaiand [then] τὰta- σκῦλαskylaplunder . αὐτοῦautouhis διαδίδωσινdiadidōsinhe divides up
23HoHe who μὴnot ὢνōnis μετ’met’with ἐμοῦemouMe κατ’kat’against ἐμοῦemouMe , ἐστι,estiis καὶkaiand hohe who μὴvvv συνάγωνsynagōndoes not gather μετ’met’with ἐμοῦemouMe σκορπίζειskorpizeiscatters .
24ὍτανHotanWhen τὸto- ἀκάθαρτονakathartonan unclean πνεῦμαpneumaspirit ἐξέλθῃexelthēcomes out ἀπὸapoof τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpoua man , διέρχεταιdierchetaiit passes δι’di’through ἀνύδρωνanydrōnarid τόπωνtopōnplaces ζητοῦνzētounseeking ἀνάπαυσινanapausinrest καὶkaiand μὴvvv εὑρίσκονheuriskondoes not find [it] . λέγειlegeiit says , ὙποστρέψωHypostrepsō‘ I will return εἰςeisto τὸνton- οἶκόνoikonhouse μουmou[the] ὅθενhothenvvv ἐξῆλθονexēlthonI left . ’
25καὶkai- ἐλθὸνelthonOn its return , εὑρίσκειheuriskeiit finds [the house] σεσαρωμένονsesarōmenonswept clean καὶkaiand κεκοσμημένονkekosmēmenonput in order .
26τότεtoteThen πορεύεταιporeuetaiit goes καὶkaiand παραλαμβάνειparalambaneibrings ἑπτάheptaseven ἕτεραheteraother πνεύματαpneumataspirits πονηρότεραponēroteramore wicked ἑαυτοῦheautouthan itself , καὶkaiand εἰσελθόνταeiselthontathey go in κατοικεῖkatoikei[and] dwell ἐκεῖekeithere . καὶkaiAnd γίνεταιginetaiis τὰtathe ἔσχαταeschatafinal [plight] τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouman ἐκείνουekeinouof that χείροναcheironaworse τῶνtōnthan the πρώτωνprōtōnfirst . ”
27ἘγένετοEgeneto. . . δὲdeAs ἐνen. . . τῷ- λέγεινlegeinwas saying αὐτὸνauton[Jesus] ταῦταtautathese things , ἐπάρασάeparasaraised τιςtisa γυνὴgynēwoman φωνὴνphōnēn[her] voice ἐκekin τοῦtouthe ὄχλουochloucrowd εἶπενeipen[and] said αὐτῷautō- , ΜακαρίαMakaria“ Blessed [is] the κοιλίαkoiliawomb - βαστάσασάbastasasathat bore σεseYou , καὶkaiand [blessed are] μαστοὶmastoi[the] breasts οὓςhousthat ἐθήλασαςethēlasasnursed You ! ”
28ΑὐτὸςAutosHe δὲdeBut εἴπῃeipē. . . , Μενοῦνγεmenoungerather μακάριοιmakarioi“ Blessed οἱhoi[are] those who ἀκούοντεςakouonteshear τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God καὶkaiand φυλάσσοντεςphylassontesobey it . ” αὐτὸνauton[Jesus]
29τῶνtōnthan the δὲdeAs ὄχλωνochlōncrowds ἐπαθροιζομένωνepathroizomenōnwere increasing , ἤρξατοērxatovvv λέγεινlegein[Jesus] said , - γενεὰgenea- αὕτηhautē“ This γενεὰgenea- πονηράponēraa wicked ἐστι·estiis σημεῖονsēmeiona sign , ζητεῖzēteiIt demands καὶkaibut σημεῖονsēmeiona sign , οὐounone δοθήσεταιdothēsetaiwill be given αὐτῇautēit εἰeiexcept μὴ. . . τὸtothe σημεῖονsēmeionsign ἸωνᾶIōnaof Jonah . τοῦtou- προφήτουprophētouthan a prophet .
30καθὼςkathōsas γὰρgarFor ἐγένετοegenetowas ἸωνᾶςIōnasJonah σημεῖονsēmeiona sign τοῖςtoisto the ΝινευίταιςNineuitaisNinevites , οὕτωςhoutōsso ἔσταιestaiwill be [a sign] καὶkai. . . hothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man τῇ- γενεᾷgeneageneration . ταύτῃtautēto this σημεῖονsēmeiona sign
31ΒασίλισσαBasilissaThe Queen νότουnotouof [the] South ἐγερθήσεταιegerthēsetaiwill rise ἐνenat τῇthe κρίσειkriseijudgment μετὰmetawith τῶνtōnthe ἀνδρῶνandrōnmen τῆςtēs- γενεᾶςgeneasgeneration ταύτηςtautēsof this καὶkaiand κατακρινεῖkatakrineicondemn αὐτούςautousthem ; ὅτιhotifor ἦλθενēlthenshe came ἐκekfrom τῶνtōnthe περάτωνperatōnends τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth ἀκοῦσαιakousaito hear τὴνtēnthe σοφίανsophianwisdom Σολομῶντος,solomontosof Solomon , καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidounow πλεῖονpleion[One] greater Σολομῶντοςsolomontosof Solomon , ὧδεhōde[is] here .
32ἄνδρεςandres[The] men Νινευῒnineuiof Nineveh ἀναστήσονταιanastēsontaiwill stand ἐνenat τῇthe κρίσειkriseijudgment μετὰmetawith τῆςtēs- γενεᾶςgeneasgeneration ταύτηςtautēsthis καὶkaiand κατακρινοῦσινkatakrinousincondemn αὐτήνautēnit ; ὅτιhotifor μετενόησανmetenoēsanthey repented εἰςeisat τὸtothe κήρυγμαkērygmapreaching ἸωνᾶIōnaof Jonah , καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidounow πλεῖονpleion[One] greater ἸωνᾶIōnathan Jonah ὧδεhōde[is] here . ΟὐδεὶςOudeisNo one
33δὲdeBut λύχνονlychnona lamp ἅψαςhapsaslights εἰςeisin κρύπτηνkryptēna cellar τίθησινtithēsin[and] puts it οὐδὲoude[or] ὑπὸhypounder τὸνton- μόδιονmodiona basket . ἀλλ’all’Instead , ἐπὶepi[he sets it] on τὴνtēn- λυχνίανlychniana stand , ἵναhinaso οἱhoithose εἰσπορευόμενοιeisporeuomenoiwho enter τὸtothe φῶςphōslight βλέπωσινblepōsincan see
34ho- λύχνοςlychnoslamp τοῦtouof your σώματόςsōmatosbody . ἐστινestinis Hothe ὀφθαλμόςophthalmoseye ὅτανhotanWhen οὖνounthen , ho- ὀφθαλμόςophthalmoseyes σουsouyour ἁπλοῦςhaplousgood , ēare καὶkaialso ὅλονholonwhole τὸto- σῶμάsōmabody σουsouyour φωτεινόνphōteinonfull of light . ἐστινestinis ἐπὰνepanwhen δὲdeBut πονηρὸςponērosbad , ēthey are καὶkai- τὸto- σῶμάsōmabody σουsouyour σκοτεινόνskoteinon[is] full of darkness .
35σκόπειskopeiBe careful , οὖνounthen , μὴnot τὸto- φῶςphōslight τὸto- ἐνenwithin σοὶsoiyou σκότοςskotosdarkness . ἐστίνestinis
36εἰeiif οὖνounSo τὸto[whole] σῶμάsōmabody σουsouyour ὅλονholon[is] full φωτεινόνphōteinonof light , μὴ[with] no ἔχονechonvvv τιti- μέροςmerospart [of it] σκοτεινόνskoteinonin darkness , ἔσταιestai[you] will be φωτεινὸνphōteinonradiant , ὅλονholonvvv ὡςhōsas ὅτανhotanthough ho- λύχνοςlychnosa lamp τῇ- ἀστραπῇastrapēwere shining φωτίζῃphōtizē. . . σεseon you . ”
37ἘνEnAs δὲde- τῷ- λαλῆσαιlalēsai[Jesus] was speaking , αὐτὸνautonHim ταῦταtauta[the latter] ἐρωτᾷerōtainvited αὐτὸνautonHim ΦαρισαῖοςPharisaiosa Pharisee τιςtisOne ὅπωςhopōsto ἀριστήσῃaristēsēdine παρ’par’with αὐτῷautōhim ; εἰσελθὼνeiselthōnHe went in δὲde[so] ἀνέπεσενanepesen[and] reclined at the table .
38hothe δὲdeBut ΦαρισαῖοςPharisaiosPharisee ἰδὼνidōnto see ἐθαύμασενethaumasenwas surprised ὅτιhotithat οὐouvvv πρῶτονprōton. . . ἐβαπτίσθηebaptisthē[Jesus] did not first wash πρὸprobefore τοῦtouthe ἀρίστουaristoumeal .
39εἴπῃeipē. . . , δὲde- ho[if his] ΚύριοςKyriosLord πρὸςpros- αὐτόνauton- , ΝῦνNyn“ Now then , ” ὑμεῖςhymeis“ you οἱhoi- ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees τὸtothe ἔξωθενexōthenoutside τοῦtouof the ποτηρίουpotērioucup καὶkaiand τοῦtou- πίνακοςpinakosdish , καθαρίζετεkatharizeteclean τὸtothe δὲdebut ἔσωθενesōtheninside ὑμῶνhymōnyou γέμειgemeiare full ἁρπαγῆςharpagēsof greed καὶkaiand πονηρίαςponēriaswickedness .
40ἄφρονεςaphrones[You] fools ! οὐχouch[Did] not hothe [One who] ποιήσαςpoiēsasmade τὸtothe ἔξωθενexōthenoutside καὶkaias well ? τὸtothe ἔσωθενesōtheninside ἐποίησε;epoiesehas done
41πλὴνplēnBut τὰtathe things that ἐνόνταenontaare within [you] , δότεdotegive ἐλεημοσύνηνeleēmosynēn[as] alms καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidouyou will see ἅπανταhapantaall καθαρὰkatharaclean ὑμῖνhyminfor you . ἔσταιestai[you] will be
42ἀλλ’all’Instead , οὐαὶouaiWoe ὑμῖνhyminto you τοῖςtois- ΦαρισαίοιςPharisaioisPharisees ! ὅτιhoti- ἀποδεκατοῦτεapodekatouteYou pay tithes of τὸto. . . ἡδύοσμονhēdyosmonmint , καὶkai- τὸto- πήγανονpēganonrue , καὶkaiand πᾶνpanevery λάχανονlachanonherb , καὶkaibut παρέρχεσθεparerchestheyou disregard τὴνtēn- κρίσινkrisinjustice καὶkaiand τὴνtēnthe ἀγάπηνagapēnlove τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God . ταῦταtauta[the latter] δὲde- ἔδειedeiYou should have ποιῆσαιpoiēsaipracticed κἀκεῖναkakeina[the former] . μὴwithout ἀφιέναιaphienaito forgive
43ΟὐαὶOuaiWoe ὑμῖνhyminto you τοῖςtois- ΦαρισαίοιςPharisaioisPharisees ! ὅτιhoti- ἀγαπᾶτεagapateYou love τὴνtēnthe πρωτοκαθεδρίανprōtokathedrianchief seats ἐνenin ταῖςtaisthe συναγωγαῖςsynagōgaissynagogues καὶkaiand τοὺςtousthe ἀσπασμοὺςaspasmousgreetings ἐνenin ταῖςtaisthe ἀγοραῖςagoraismarketplaces .
44οὐαὶouaiWoe ὑμῖνhyminto you ! γραμματεῖςgrammateisscribes καὶkaiand ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees ὑποκριταίhypokritai[You] hypocrites ! ὅτιhotiFor ἐστεesteyou are ὡςhōslike τὰta- μνημεῖαmnēmeiagraves , τὰta- ἄδηλαadēlaunmarked καὶkai[which] οἱhoi- ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoimen περιπατοῦντεςperipatounteswalk ἐπάνωepanōover οὐκoukwithout οἴδασινoidasin[even] noticing . ”
45ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheisvvv δέde- τιςtisOne τῶνtōnof the νομικῶνnomikōnexperts in the law λέγειlegeitold αὐτῷautōHim , ΔιδάσκαλεDidaskale“ Teacher , ταῦταtautathese things , λέγωνlegōnwhen You say καὶkaias well . ” ἡμᾶςhēmasus ὑβρίζειςhybrizeisYou insult

47οὐαὶouaiWoe ὑμῖνhyminto you ! ὅτιhoti- οἰκοδομεῖτεoikodomeiteYou build τὰta- μνημεῖαmnēmeiatombs τῶνtōnfor the προφητῶνprophētōnprophets , οἱhoi- δὲdebut πατέρεςpateresfathers ὑμῶνhymōn[it was] your ἀπέκτεινανapekteinan[who] killed αὐτούςautousthem .
48ἄραaraSo μαρτυρεῖτεmartureitewitnesses συνευδοκεῖτεsyneudokeiteconsenting τοῖςtoisto the ἔργοιςergoisdeeds τῶνtōnof πατέρωνpaterōnfathers : ὑμῶνhymōnyour ὅτιhoti- αὐτοὶautoiThey μὲνmen- ἀπέκτεινανapekteinankilled αὐτοὺςautous[the prophets] , ὑμεῖςhymeisyou δὲdeand οἰκοδομεῖτεoikodomeitebuild [their tombs] . αὐτῶνautōnthem τὰta- μνημεῖαmnēmeiatombs
49διὰdiaBecause of this τοῦτοtouto. . . καὶkai- , the σοφίαsophiawisdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God εἶπενeipensaid , ἈποστελῶApostelō‘ I will send εἰςeis- αὐτοὺςautousthem προφήταςprophētasprophets καὶkaiand ἀποστόλουςapostolousapostles ; καὶkai- ἐξex[some] of αὐτῶνautōnthem ἀποκτενοῦσιapoktenousithey will kill καὶkaiand [others] ἐκδιώξουσιν,ekdioxousinthey will persecute . ’

51τοῦtouwho αἵματοςhaimatosthe blood ἍβελHabelof Abel ἕωςheōsto τοῦtouwho αἵματοςhaimatosthe blood ΖαχαρίουZachariouof Zechariah , τοῦtouwho ἀπολομένουapolomenouwas killed μεταξὺmetaxybetween τοῦtouthe θυσιαστηρίουthysiastērioualtar καὶkaiand τοῦtouthe οἴκουoikousanctuary . ναίnaiYes , λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou , ἐκζητηθήσεταιekzētēthēsetai[ all of ] it will be charged ἀπὸapoto τῆςtēs- γενεᾶςgeneasgeneration . ταύτηςtautēsthis
52ΟὐαὶOuaiWoe ὑμῖνhyminto you τοῖςtois- νομικοῖςnomikoisexperts in the law ! ὅτιhotiFor ἤρατεērateyou have taken away τὴνtēnthe κλεῖδαkleidakey τῆςtēsto γνώσεωςgnōseōsknowledge . αὐτοὶautoiYou yourselves οὐκoukvvv εἰσέλθητεeiselthēteyou enter καὶkaiand τοὺςtousthose who εἰσερχομένουςeiserchomenouswere entering . ” ἐκωλύσατεekōlysateyou have hindered
53λέγοντοςlegontoswas speaking δὲdeand αὐτοῦautouAs [Jesus] πρὸςpros- αὐτούςautousthem ; πάνταpanta[that] everything ταῦταtauta[the latter] ἤρξαντοērxantobegan οἱhoi- γραμματεῖςgrammateisscribes καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees δεινῶςdeinōsvvv ἐνέχεινenecheinto oppose [Him] bitterly καὶkaiand ἀποστοματίζεινapostomatizeinto ply Him with questions αὐτὸνauton. . . περὶperiabout πλειόνωνpleionōnmany things , ἐνεδρεύοντεςenedreuonteswaiting
