1ΚαὶKaiThen ἐστάθηνestatinstand ἐπὶepion τὴνtēn- ἄμμονammonsand . τῆςtēsthe θαλάσσηςthalassēssea . καὶkai[There were] εἶδονeidonI saw ἐκekout of τῆςtēsthe θαλάσσηςthalassēssea . θηρίονthēriona beast ἀναβαῖνονanabainonrising ἔχονechonwith κέραταkeratahorns δέκαdekaten καὶkaiand κεφαλὰςkephalasheads ἑπτάheptaseven καὶkaiand ἐπὶepion τῶνtōn- κεράτωνkeratōnhorns αὐτοῦautouits δέκαdekaten διαδήματαdiadēmataroyal crowns καὶkai[There were] ἐπὶepion τὰςtas- κεφαλὰςkephalasheads . αὐτοῦautouits ὀνόματαonomatanames βλασφημίαςblasphēmiasblasphemous
2καὶkaiand τὸtoThe θηρίονthērionbeast ὃho- εἶδονeidonI saw ἦνēnwas ὅμοιονhomoionlike παρδάλειpardaleia leopard , καὶkai[with] οἱhoithe πόδεςpodesfeet αὐτοῦautou- ὡςhōsof ἄρκουarkoua bear καὶkaiand τὸtothe στόμαstomamouth αὐτοῦautou- ὡςhōsof στόμαstoma- λέοντοςleontosa lion . καὶkaiAnd ἔδωκενedōkengave αὐτῷautō[the beast] ὁhothe δράκωνdrakōndragon τὴνtēn- δύναμινdynaminpower αὐτοῦautouhis καὶkaiand τὸνton- θρόνονthrononthrone αὐτοῦautouhis καὶkaiand ἐξουσίανexousianauthority . μεγάληνmegalēngreat
3καὶkaiand μίανmianOne ἐκekof τῶνtōnthe κεφαλῶνkephalōnheads αὐτοῦautouof [the beast] ὡςhōsappeared ἐσφαγμένηνesphagmenēnto be mortally wounded εἰςeis. . . θάνατονthanaton. . . . καὶkai[But] ἡhē- πληγὴplēgēwound τοῦtouthe θανάτουthanatoumortal αὐτοῦautou- ἐθεραπεύθηetherapeuthēwas healed , καὶkaiand ἐθαύμασενethaumasenmarveled at ὅληholēwhole ἡhēthe γῆgēworld ὀπίσωopisō[and] followed τοῦtouthe θηρίουthērioubeast .
4καὶkai- προσεκύνησανprosekynēsanThey worshiped τῷtōthe δράκοντιdrakontidragon τῷtōthe δεδωκότιdedokotidragon τὴνtēn- ἐξουσίανexousianauthority τῷtōto the θηρίῳthēriōbeast , καὶkaiand προσεκύνησανprosekynēsanthey worshiped τῷtōthe θηρίῳthēriōbeast , λέγοντεςlegontessaying , ΤίςTis“ Who ὅμοιοςhomoios[is] like τῷtōthe θηρίῳthēriōbeast , τίςtiswho δύναταιdynataican πολεμῆσαιpolemēsaiwage war μετ’met’against αὐτοῦautouit ? ”
5ΚαὶKai- ἐδόθηedothēwas given αὐτῷautō[The beast] στόμαstomaa mouth λαλοῦνlalounto speak μεγάλαmegalaarrogant καὶkaiand βλασφημίανblasphēmianblasphemy . καὶkaiand ἐδόθηedothēwas given αὐτῷautō[The beast] ἐξουσίαexousiaauthority πόλεμονpolemonto wage war ποιῆσαιpoiēsaivvv μῆναςmēnasmonths . τεσσαράκονταtessarakonta[where for] forty δύοdyo. . .
6καὶkai. . . ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τὸto- στόμαstomamouth αὐτοῦautouits εἰςeisto [speak] βλασφημίανblasphēmianblasphemy . πρὸςprosagainst τὸνton- ΘεόνTheonGod βλασφημῆσαιblasphēmēsai[and] to slander τὸto- ὄνομαonomaname αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand τὴνtēn- σκηνὴνskēnēntabernacle — αὐτοῦautouHis τοὺςtousthose who ἐνenin τῷtō- οὐρανῷouranōheaven . σκηνοῦνταςskēnountasdwell
7ΚαὶKaiThen ἐδόθηedothēwas permitted αὐτῷautō[the beast] πόλεμονpolemonto wage war ποιῆσαιpoiēsaivvv μετὰmetaagainst τῶνtōnthe ἁγίωνhagiōnsaints καὶkaiand νικῆσαιnikēsaito conquer αὐτούςautousthem , καὶkaiand ἐδόθηedothēwas given αὐτῷautōit ἐξουσίαexousiaauthority ἐπὶepiover πᾶσανpasanevery φυλὴνphylēntribe καὶkaiand λαὸνlaonpeople καὶkaiand γλῶσσανglōssantongue καὶkaiand ἔθνοςethnosnation .
8καὶkaiAnd προσκυνήσουσινproskynēsousinwill worship αὐτὸνauton[the beast] — πάντεςpantesall οἱhoiwho κατοικοῦντεςkatoikountesdwell ἐπὶepion τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth ὃνhonwhom οὗhou[all] whose γέγραπταιgegraptaihave not been written τὸto- ὄνομαonomanames ἐνenin τῷtōthe βιβλίῳbibliōBook τῆςtēs- ζωῆςzōēsof Life τοῦtoubelonging to the ἈρνίουArniouLamb τοῦtouwho ἐσφαγμένουesphagmenouwas slain . ἀπὸapofrom καταβολῆςkatabolēs[the] foundation κόσμουkosmouof [the] world
10ΕἴEi“ If τιςtisanyone εἰςeis[is destined for] αἰχμαλωσίανaichmalōsiancaptivity , ἀπάγει,apageiwill go εἰςeisinto αἰχμαλωσίανaichmalōsiancaptivity ὑπάγειhypageihe will go ; εἴeiif τιςtisanyone ἐνenby μάχαιραmachairasword ? ἀποκτέννει*apoktenneikills , ΔεῖDeimust αὐτὸνautonhe ἐνenby μάχαιραmachairasword ? ἀποκτανθῆναι*apoktanthēnaiis to die ὯδέHōdeHere ἐστινestinis [a call for] ἡhēthe ὑπομονὴhypomonēperseverance καὶkaiand ἡhē- πίστιςpistisfaith τῶνtōnof the ἁγίωνhagiōnsaints .
11ΚαὶKaiThen εἶδονeidonI saw ἄλλοalloanother θηρίονthērionbeast ἀναβαῖνονanabainonrising ἐκekout of τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth . καὶkai- ΕἶχεEichehad κέραταkeratahorns δύοdyotwo ὅμοιαhomoialike ἀρνίῳarniōa lamb , καὶkai[but] ἐλάλειelaleispoke ὡςhōslike δράκωνdrakōna dragon .
12καὶkaiAnd τὴνtēnthe ἐξουσίανexousianauthority τοῦtouof the πρώτουprōtoufirst θηρίουthērioubeast πᾶσανpasanall ποιεῖpoiei[this beast] exercised ἐνώπιονenōpion- αὐτοῦautou- καὶkaiand ποιεῖpoieicaused τὴνtēnthe γῆνgēnearth καὶkaiand τοὺςtousthose who ἐνenin αὐτῇautēit κατοικοῦνταςkatoikountasdwell ἵναhinato προσκυνήσωσιproskunesosirefused to worship τὸtothe θηρίονthērionbeast , τὸto- πρῶτονprōtonfirst οὗhouwhose ἐθεραπεύθηetherapeuthēhad been healed . ἡhē- πληγὴplēgēwound τοῦtou- θανάτουthanatoumortal αὐτοῦautou. . .
13ΚαὶKaiAnd ποιεῖpoiei[the second beast] performed σημεῖαsēmeiasigns μεγάλαmegalagreat ΚαὶKaiAnd πῦρpyrfire ἵναhinato ἐκekfrom τοῦtou- οὐρανοῦouranouheaven καταβαίνῃkatabaineto come down εἰςeisto τὴνtēn- γῆνgēnearth ἐνώπιονenōpionin the presence τῶνtōn- ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnof the people .
14καὶkai- πλανᾷplanait deceived τοὺςtousthose who κατοικοῦνταςkatoikountasdwell ἐπὶepion τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth , διὰdiaBecause of τὰtathe σημεῖαsēmeiasigns ἃha- ἐδόθηedothēwas given αὐτῷautōit ποιῆσαιpoiēsaito perform ἐνώπιονenōpionon behalf τοῦtouof the [first] θηρίουthērioubeast , λέγωνlegōntelling τοῖςtoisvvv κατοικοῦσινkatoikousinvvv ἐπὶepivvv τῆςtēsvvv γῆςgēs[them] ποιῆσαιpoiēsaito make εἰκόναeikonaan image τῷtōto the θηρίῳthēriōbeast ὃςhosthat ΕἶχεEichehad τὴνtēnvvv πληγὴνplēgēnhad been wounded τῆςtēsby the μαχαίραςmakhairasof [the] sword καὶkaiand yet ἔζησε.ezeseis alive again ;
15καὶkaiand yet ἐδόθηedothē[The second beast] was permitted αὐτῷautō. . . πνεῦμαpneumabreath δοῦναιdounaito give τῇtēto the εἰκόνιeikoniimage τοῦtouof the θηρίουthēriou[first] beast , ἵναhinaso that καὶkaivvv λαλήσῃlalēsēcould speak ἡhēthe εἰκὼνeikōnimage τοῦtou- θηρίουthēriou- καὶkaivvv ποιήσῃpoiēsēcause ὅσοιhosoiall who ἐὰνeanvvv μὴmēvvv προσκυνήσωσιproskunesosirefused to worship τῇtēvvv εἰκόνιeikonivvv τοῦtouvvv θηρίουthēriou[it] ἵναhina- ἀποκτανθῶσι.apoktanthosito be killed .
16καὶkaiand ποιεῖpoiei[the second beast] required πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtous[people] μικροὺςmikroussmall καὶkaiand τοὺςtous- μεγάλουςmegalousgreat , καὶkai- τοὺςtous- πλουσίουςplousiousrich καὶkaiand τοὺςtous- πτωχούςptōchouspoor , καὶkai- τοὺςtous- ἐλευθέρουςeleutherousfree καὶkaiand τοὺςtous- δούλουςdoulousslave , ἵναhinato δώσουσινdōsousinwill be poured αὐτοῖςautois- χάραγμαcharagmaa mark ἐπὶepion τῆςtēs- χειρὸςcheiroshand αὐτῶνautōntheir τῆςtēs- δεξιᾶςdexiasright ἢēor ἐπὶepion τὸνtonthe μέτωπονmetōponforehead , αὐτῶνautōntheir
17καὶkai- ἵναhinaso that μήmēno τιςtisone δύνηταιdynētaicould ἀγοράσαιagorasaibuy ἢēor πωλῆσαιpōlēsaisell εἰeiunless μὴmē. . . ὁhohe ἔχωνechōnhad τὸtothe χάραγμαcharagmamark — τὸtothe ὄνομαonomaname τοῦtouof the θηρίουthērioubeast ἢēor τὸνtonthe ἀριθμὸνarithmonnumber τοῦtou- ὀνόματοςonomatosname . αὐτοῦautouof its
18ὯδεHōdeHere ἡhē- σοφίαsophiawisdom : ἐστίνestinis [a call for] ὁho{Let} the [one who] ἔχωνechōnhas νοῦνnouninsight ψηφισάτωpsēphisatōcalculate τὸνtonthe ἀριθμὸνarithmonnumber τοῦtouof the θηρίουthērioubeast , ἀριθμὸςarithmos[the] number γὰρgarfor ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof a man , ἐστίestiI have καὶkaiand ὁho- ἀριθμὸςarithmosnumber [is] αὐτοῦautou[that] χξς’khxswith
