6ἘγένετοEgeneto- δὲde- καὶkaiand ἦνēnwas ἑτέρῳheterōanother σαββάτῳsabbatōSabbath εἰσελθεῖνeiseltheinentered αὐτὸνauton[Jesus] εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēnthe συναγωγὴνsynagōgēnsynagogue καὶkaiand διδάσκεινdidaskeinwas teaching , καὶkaiand ἦνēnwas ἐκεῖekeithere ἄνθρωποςanthrōposa man καὶkaiand ἡhē- χεὶρcheirhand αὐτοῦautou[whose] ἡhē- δεξιὰdexiaright ἦνēnwas ξηράxērawithered .
7Παρετήρουνpareterounwere watching Him closely δὲde- οἱhoithe γραμματεῖςgrammateisscribes καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees εἰei[to see] if ἐνenon τῷtōthe σαββάτῳsabbatōSabbath . θεραπεύσει,therapeuseiHe would heal ἵναhinavvv εὕρωσιeurosiLooking for a reason κατηγορίανkategorianto accuse αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] ,
8ΑὐτὸςAutos[Jesus] δὲdeBut ᾔδειēdeiknew τοὺςtous- διαλογισμοὺςdialogismousthoughts αὐτῶνautōntheir καὶkaiand εἰπὲeipesay τὸtovvv ἀνθρώπῳanthrōpōa man τὸto- ξηρὰνxēranwithered ἔχοντιechontiwith τὴνtēnthe χεῖραcheirahand , ἜγειρεEgeire“ Get up καὶkaiand στῆθιstēthistand εἰςeisvvv τὸtovvv μέσονmesonamong [us] . ” ὁho- δὲdeThen ἀναστὰςanastashe got up ἔστηestē[and] stood [there] .
9εἶπενeipensaid οὖνountherefore , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus πρὸςprosto αὐτούςautousthem , Ἐπερωτήσωeperoteso“ I ask ὑμᾶςhymasyou , τίtiwhat ἔξεστιexestiis unlawful τοῖςtoisto his companions σάββασινsabbasinSabbath ? ” ἀγαθοποιῆσαιagathopoiēsaito do good ἢēor κακοποιῆσαιkakopoiēsaito do evil , ψυχὴνpsychēnlife σῶσαιsōsaito save ἢēor ἀποκτεῖναιapokteinaihave been killed ,
10ΚαὶKaiAnd περιβλεψάμενοςperiblepsamenosafter looking around πάνταςpantasat all αὐτοὺςautousof them , εἶπενeipenHe said αὐτῷautōto [the man] , ἜκτεινονEkteinon“ Stretch out τὴνtēn- χεῖράcheirahand . ” σουsouyour ὁho- δὲde- ἐποίησε,epoiesehas done καὶkaiand ἀπεκατεστάθηapekatestathēwas restored . ἡhēvvv χεὶρcheir[it] αὐτοῦautouvvv ὃςhoswho ἡhēthe ἄλλη.alleother
11αὐτοὶautoi[the scribes and Pharisees] δὲdeBut ἐπλήσθησανeplēsthēsanwere filled ἀνοίαςanoiaswith rage καὶkaiand διελάλουνdielalounbegan to discuss πρὸςproswith ἀλλήλουςallēlousone another τίtiwhat ἂνan. . . ποιήσειανpoieseianthey might do τῷtō- ἸησοῦIēsouto Jesus .
12ἘγένετοEgeneto- δὲde- ἐνenIn ταῖςtais- ἡμέραιςhēmeraisdays ταύταιςtautaisthose ἘξῆλθενExēlthenwent out εἰςeisto τὸtothe ὄροςorosmountain προσεύξασθαιproseuxasthaito pray , καὶkaiand ἦνēnvvv διανυκτερεύωνdianyktereuōnHe spent the night ἐνenin τῇtē- προσευχῇproseuchēprayer τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouto God .
13καὶkai- ὅτεhoteWhen ἐγένετοegenetocame , ἡμέραhēmeradaylight προσεφώνησεprosephoneseHe called τοὺςtous- μαθητὰςmathētasdisciples {to Him} αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand ἐκλεξάμενοςeklexamenoschose ἀπ’ap’of αὐτῶνautōnthem , δώδεκαdōdekatwelve οὓςhouswhom καὶkai- ἀποστόλουςapostolousapostles : ὠνόμασε,onomaseHe also designated as
14ΣίμωναSimōnaSimon , ὃνhonwhom καὶkai- ὠνόμασεonomaseHe also designated as ΠέτρονPetronPeter , καὶkaiand ἈνδρέανAndreanAndrew ; τὸνton- ἀδελφὸνadelphonbrother αὐτοῦautouhis ἸάκωβονIakōbonJames καὶkaiand ἸωάννηνIōannēnJohn ; ΦίλιππονPhilipponPhilip καὶkaiand ΒαρθολομαῖονBartholomaionBartholomew ;
15ΜατθαῖονmatthaionMatthew καὶkai- ΘωμᾶνThōmanThomas ; ἸάκωβονIakōbonJames τὸνton- τοῦtouof ἉλφαίουHalphaiou[son of] Alphaeus καὶkaiand ΣίμωναSimōnaSimon τὸνton- καλούμενονkaloumenoncalled
16ΖηλωτὴνZēlōtēn[the] Zealot ; ἸούδανIoudanJudas [son] ἸακώβουIakōbouof James , καὶkaiand ἸούδανIoudanJudas ἸσκαριώτηνIskariōtēnIscariot , ὃςhoswho ΚαὶKaiThen ἐγένετοegenetobecame προδότηςprodotēs[a] traitor .
17ΚαὶKaiThen καταβὰςkatabas[Jesus] came down μετ’met’with αὐτῶνautōnthem ἔστηestē[and] stood ἐπὶepion τόπουtopouplace . πεδινοῦpedinoua level καὶkai- ὄχλοςochloscrowd μαθητῶνmathētōndisciples [was there] , αὐτοῦautouof His καὶkaialong with πλῆθοςplēthosnumber πολὺpolya great τοῦtouof λαοῦlaoupeople ἀπὸapofrom πάσηςpasēsall over τῆςtēs- ἸουδαίαςIoudaiasJudea , καὶkai- ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem , καὶkaiand τῆςtēsthe παραλίουparaliousea coast ΤύρουTyrouof Tyre καὶkaiand ΣιδῶνοςSidōnosSidon .
18οἳhoiThey ἦλθονēlthonhad come ἀκοῦσαιakousaito hear αὐτοῦautouHim καὶkaiand ἰαθῆναιiathēnaito be healed ἀπὸapoof τῶνtōn- νόσωνnosōndiseases , αὐτῶνautōntheir καὶkaiand οἱhoithose ὀχλούμενοιokhloumenoitroubled ἀπὸapoby πνευμάτωνpneumatōnspirits ἀκαθάρτωνakathartōnunclean καὶkai- ἐθεραπεύοντοetherapeuontowere healed .
19καὶkai- πᾶςpasentire ὁhoThe ὄχλοςochloscrowd ἐζήτειezēteihe kept trying ἅπτεσθαιhaptesthaito touch αὐτοῦautouHim , ὅτιhotibecause δύναμιςdynamispower παρ’par’from αὐτοῦautouHim ἐξήρχετοexērchetowas coming καὶkaiand ἰᾶτοiatohealing πάνταςpantasthem all .
20ΚαὶKai- αὐτὸςautos[Jesus] ἐπάραςeparasLooking up τοὺςtous. . . ὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmous. . . αὐτοῦautouHis εἰςeisat τοὺςtous- μαθητὰςmathētasdisciples , αὐτοῦautouHis ἔλεγε·elege[Jesus] declared ΜακάριοιMakarioi“ Blessed [are] οἱhoi[you] who are πτωχοίptōchoipoor , ὍτιHotifor ὑμετέραhymeterayours ἐστὶνestinis ἡhēthe βασιλείαbasileiakingdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God .
21ΜακάριοιMakarioiBlessed [are] οἱhoi[you] who πεινῶντεςpeinōnteshunger νῦνnynnow , ὍτιHotifor χορτασθήσεσθεchortasthēsestheyou will be filled . ΜακάριοιMakarioiBlessed [are] οἱhoi[you] who κλαίοντεςklaiontesweep νῦνnynnow , ὍτιHotifor γελάσετεgelaseteyou will laugh .
22ΜακάριοίMakarioiBlessed ἐστεesteare you ὅτανhotanwhen μισήσωσινmisēsōsinhate ὑμᾶςhymasyou , οἱhoi- ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoipeople καὶkaiand ὅτανhotanwhen ἀφορίσωσινaphorisōsinthey exclude [you] ὑμᾶςhymasyou καὶkaiand ὀνειδίσωσιoneidisosiinsult καὶkaiand ἐκβάλωσιekbalosireject τὸto- ὄνομαonomaname ὑμῶνhymōnyour ὡςhōsas πονηρὸνponēronevil ἕνεκαhenekabecause of τοῦtouthe ΥἱοῦHuiouSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man .
23χάρητεcharēteRejoice ἐνenin ἐκείνῃekeinēthat τῇtē- ἡμέρᾳhēmeraday καὶkaiand σκιρτήσατεskirtēsateleap for joy , ἰδοὺidou. . . γὰρgarbecause ὁho- μισθὸςmisthosreward ὑμῶνhymōnyour πολὺςpolysgreat [is] ἐνenin τῷtō- οὐρανῷouranōheaven . κατὰkatavvv τὰtavvv αὐτὰautatheir γὰρgarFor ἐποίουνepoiountreated τοῖςtoisthe προφήταιςprophētaisprophets οἱhoi- πατέρεςpateresfathers αὐτῶνautōnin the same way .
24ΠλὴνPlēnBut οὐαὶouaiwoe ὑμῖνhyminto you τοῖςtoiswho are πλουσίοιςplousioisrich , ὍτιHotifor ἀπέχετεapecheteyou have already received τὴνtēn- παράκλησινparaklēsincomfort . ὑμῶνhymōnyour
25ΟὐαὶOuaiWoe ὑμῖνhyminto you οἱhoiwho ἐμπεπλησμένοιempeplēsmenoiare well fed ὍτιHotifor πεινάσετεpeinaseteyou will hunger . ΟὐαίOuaiWoe to ὑμῖνhyminto you οἱhoiwho γελῶντεςgelōnteslaugh νῦνnynnow , ὍτιHotifor πενθήσετεpenthēseteyou will mourn καὶkaiand κλαύσετεklauseteweep .
26ΟὐαὶOuaiWoe to you ὅτανhotanwhen καλῶςkalōswell ὑμᾶςhymasof you , εἴπωσιeiposispeak πάντεςpantesall οἱhoi- ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoimen ΚατὰKatavvv τὰtavvv αὐτὰautatheir γὰρgarfor ἐποίουνepoiountreated τοῖςtoisthe ψευδοπροφήταιςpseudoprophētaisfalse prophets οἱhoi- πατέρεςpateresfathers αὐτῶνautōnin the same way .
27ἈλλὰAllaBut ὑμῖνhyminto those of you λέγωlegōI say : τοῖςtoiswho ἀκούουσινakouousinwill listen , ἈγαπᾶτεAgapateLove τοὺςtous- ἐχθροὺςechthrousenemies , ὑμῶνhymōnyour καλῶςkalōsgood ποιεῖτεpoieitedo τοῖςtoisto those who μισοῦσινmisousinhate ὑμᾶςhymasyou ,
28εὐλογεῖτεeulogeitebless τοὺςtousthose who καταρωμένουςkatarōmenouscurse ὑμῖνhyminto those of you προσεύχεσθεproseuchesthepray ὑπὲρhyperabove τὸνton[his] ἐπηρεαζόντωνepēreazontōnmistreat ὑμᾶςhymasyou .
29τῷtōto him τύπτοντίtyptonti[If someone] strikes σεseyou ἐπὶepion τὴνtēn[one] σιαγόναsiagonacheek , πάρεχεparecheturn καὶkaialso . τὴνtēnthe ἄλληνallēnother καὶkaialso . ἀπὸapovvv τοῦtou[if someone] αἴροντόςairontostakes σουsouyour τὸto- ἱμάτιονhimationcloak , καὶkaias well . τὸνton[your] χιτῶναchitōnatunic μὴmēdo not κωλύσῃςkōlysēswithhold παντὶpantito everyone who δὲde-
30τὸtothe αἰτοῦντίaitountiasks σεseyou , δίδουdidouGive καὶkaias well . ἀπὸapovvv τοῦtou[if anyone] αἴροντοςairontostakes τὰtawhat [is] σὰsayours , μὴmē{do} not ἀπαίτειapaiteidemand [it] back .
31καὶkai- καθὼςkathōsas θέλετεtheleteyou would have ἵναhina- ποιῶσινpoiōsindo ὑμῖνhyminto you . οἱhoi- ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoi[them] ΚαὶKai- ὑμεῖςhymeis“ You ποιεῖτεpoieiteDo αὐτοῖςautoisto [others] ὁμοίωςhomoiōs-
32καὶkai- εἰeiIf ἀγαπᾶτεagapateyou love τοὺςtousthose who ἀγαπῶνταςagapōntaslove ὑμᾶςhymasyou , ποίαpoiawhat ὑμῖνhyminto you ? χάριςchariscredit ἐστί;estiis καὶkaiEven γὰρgar- οἱhoi- ἁμαρτωλοὶhamartōloisinners τοὺςtousthose who ἀγαπῶνταςagapōntaslove αὐτοὺςautousthem .
33ἀγαπῶσι.agaposilove καὶkai- ἐὰνeanIf ἀγαθοποιῆτεagathopoiēteyou do good τοὺςtousto those who ἀγαθοποιοῦνταςagathopoiountasdo good to ὑμᾶςhymasyou , ποίαpoiawhat ὑμῖνhyminto you ? χάριςchariscredit ἐστί;estiis καὶkaiEven γὰρgar- οἱhoi- ἁμαρτωλοὶhamartōloisinners τὸtothe αὐτὸautosame . ποιοῦσι.poiousido
34καὶkaiAnd ἐὰνeanif δανείζητεdaneizeteyou lend [to those] παρ’par’from ὧνhōnwhom ἐλπίζετεelpizeteyou expect ἀπολαβεῖν,apolabeinto be repaid ποίαpoiawhat ὑμῖνhyminto you ? χάριςchariscredit ἐστί;estiis καὶkaiEven γὰρgar- ἁμαρτωλοὶhamartōloisinners ἁμαρτωλοῖςhamartōloisto sinners , δανείζουσινdaneizousinlend ἵναhinaexpecting ἀπολάβωσιapolabosito be repaid τὰta- ἴσαisain full .
35ΠλὴνPlēnBut ἀγαπᾶτεagapatelove τοὺςtous- ἐχθροὺςechthrousenemies , ὑμῶνhymōnyour καὶkai- ἀγαθοποιεῖτεagathopoieitedo good [to them] , καὶkaiand δανείζετεdaneizetelend [to them] , μηδὲνmēden. . . . ἀπελπίζοντεςapelpizontesexpecting nothing in return καὶkaiThen ἔσταιestaiwill be ὁho- μισθὸςmisthosreward ὑμῶνhymōnyour πολύςpolysgreat , καὶkaiand ἔσεσθεesestheyou will be υἱοὶhuioisons of ὙψίστουHypsistouthe Most High ; ὅτιhotifor αὐτὸςautosHe χρηστόςchrēstoskind ἐστινestinis ἐπὶepito τοὺςtousthe ἀχαρίστουςacharistousungrateful καὶkaiand πονηρούςponērouswicked . ΓίνεσθεGinestheBe
36οὖνountherefore , οἰκτίρμονεςoiktirmonesmerciful , καθὼςkathōsas καὶkaiand ὁho- ΠατὴρPatērFather ὑμῶνhymōnyour οἰκτίρμωνoiktirmōnmerciful . ἐστί.estiis
37ΚαὶKai- μὴmē{Do} not κρίνετεkrinetejudge , καὶkaiand οὐouvvv μὴmēvvv κριθῆτεkrithēteyou will not be judged . μὴmēvvv καταδικάζετεkatadikazetecondemn , καὶkaiand οὐouvvv μὴmēvvv καταδικασθῆτεkatadikasthēteyou will not be condemned . ἀπολύετεapolyeteForgive , καὶkaiand ἀπολυθήσεσθεapolythēsestheyou will be forgiven .
38δίδοτεdidoteGive , καὶkaiand δοθήσεταιdothēsetaiit will be given ὑμῖνhyminto you . μέτρονmetronmeasure , καλὸνkalonA good πεπιεσμένονpepiesmenonpressed down , καὶkaiand σεσαλευμένονsesaleumenonshaken together , καὶkaiand ὑπερεκχυνόμενονuperekkhunomenon[and] running over δώσουσινdōsousinwill be poured εἰςeisinto τὸνton- κόλπονkolponlap . ὑμῶνhymōnyour τὸtothe γὰρgarFor αὐτὸautosame . μέτρῳmetrōmeasure ᾧhōwith the μετρεῖτεmetreiteyou [use] , ἀντιμετρηθήσεταιantimetrēthēsetaiit will be measured back ὑμῖνhyminto you . ”
39εἰπὲeipesay δὲde- καὶkai. . . παραβολὴνparabolēna parable : αὐτοῖςautoisthem ΜήτιMētivvv δύναταιdynatai“ Can τυφλὸςtyphlosa blind [man] τυφλὸνtyphlona blind [man] ? ὁδηγεῖνhodēgeinlead οὐχὶouchi{Will they} not ἀμφότεροιamphoteroiboth εἰςeisinto βόθυνονbothynona pit ? πεσοῦνταιpesountaiThey will fall
40οὐκouknot ἔστιestiis μαθητὴςmathētēsA disciple ὑπὲρhyperabove τὸνton[his] διδάσκαλονdidaskalonteacher , αὐτοῦautouhis κατηρτισμένοςkatērtismenosfully trained δὲdebut πᾶςpaseveryone [who is] ἔσταιestaiwill be ὡςhōslike ὁho- διδάσκαλοςdidaskalosteacher . αὐτοῦautouhis
41ΤίTiWhy δὲde- βλέπειςblepeisdo you look at τὸtothe κάρφοςkarphosspeck τὸto- ἐνenin τῷtō- ὀφθαλμῷophthalmōeye , τοῦtou- ἀδελφοῦadelphoubrother’s σουsouyour τὴνtēn- δὲdebut δοκὸνdokon[the] beam τὴνtēn- ἐνenin τῷtō[your] ἰδίῳidiōown ὀφθαλμῷophthalmōeye ? οὐoufail κατανοεῖςkatanoeisto notice ᾗhē[that house] ,
42πῶςpōsHow δύνασαιdynasaican you λέγεινlegeinsay τῷtō- ἀδελφῷadelphō- , σουsou- ἈδελφέAdelphe‘ Brother , ἄφεςapheslet ἐκβάλωekbalōme take τὸtothe κάρφοςkarphosspeck τὸto{out} ἐνenof τῷtō- ὀφθαλμῷophthalmōeye , ’ σουsouyour αὐτὸςautos[while] you yourself τὴνtēn- ἐνenin τῷtō- ὀφθαλμῷophthalmōeye ? σοῦsouyour own δοκὸνdokon[the] beam οὐouvvv βλέπωνblepōnfail to see ὑποκριτάhypokrita[You] hypocrite ! ἔκβαλεekbaletake πρῶτονprōtonFirst τὴνtēnthe δοκὸνdokonbeam ἐκekout of τοῦtouown ὀφθαλμοῦophthalmoueye , σοῦsouyour καὶkaiand τότεtotethen διαβλέψειςdiablepseisyou will see clearly ἐκβαλεῖνekbaleinto remove τὸtothe κάρφοςkarphosspeck τὸto- ἐνenfrom τῷtō- ὀφθαλμῷophthalmōeye . τοῦtou- ἀδελφοῦadelphoubrother’s σουsouyour
