15καὶkaiAnd σύsyyou , Καπερναούμ,kapernaoumCapernaum . ἢēthan ἕωςheōsto τοῦtou- οὐρανοῦouranouheaven ? ὑψωθεῖσα,upsotheisawill you be lifted up ἕωςheōsto ᾅδουhadouHades ! καταβιβασθήσῃkatavivasthísicome down
16ὉHoWhoever ἀκούωνakouōnlistens ὑμῶνhymōnto you ἐμοῦemouto Me ; ἀκούειakoueilistens καὶkai- ὁhowhoever ἀθετῶνathetōnrejects ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐμὲemeMe ; ἀθετεῖatheteirejects ὁhowhoever δὲdeand ἐμὲemeMe ; ἀθετῶνathetōnrejects ἀθετεῖatheteirejects τὸνtonthe [One who] ἀποστείλαντάaposteilantasent μεmeMe . ”
17ὙπέστρεψανHypestrepsanreturned δὲde- οἱhoiThe ἑβδομήκονταhebdomēkontaseventy-two μετὰmetawith χαρᾶςcharasjoy λέγοντεςlegontes[and] said , ΚύριεKyrie“ Lord , καὶkaieven τὰtathe δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons ὑποτάσσεταιhypotassetaisubmit ἡμῖνhēminto us ἐνenin τῷtō- ὀνόματίonomatiname . ” σουsouYour
18εἰπὲ*eipeTell δὲde- αὐτοῖςautoisthem , ἘθεώρουνEtheōroun“ I saw τὸνton- ΣατανᾶνSatananSatan ὡςhōslike ἀστραπὴνastrapēnlightning ἐκekfrom τοῦtou- οὐρανοῦouranouheaven . πεσόνταpesontafall
19ἰδοὺidouBehold , δίδωμιdidōmiI can give ὑμῖνhyminyou τὴνtēn- ἐξουσίανexousianauthority τοῦtou- πατεῖνpateinto tread ἐπάνωepanōon ὄφεωνopheōnsnakes καὶkaiand σκορπίωνskorpiōnscorpions , καὶkaiand ἐπὶepiover πᾶσανpasanall τὴνtēnthe δύναμινdynaminpower τοῦtouof the ἐχθροῦechthrouenemy . καὶkai- οὐδὲνoudenNothing ὑμᾶςhymasyou . οὐou. . . μὴmē. . . ἀδικήσῃ*adikēsēwill harm
20πλὴνplēnNevertheless , ἐνenvvv τούτῳtoutōvvv μὴmē{do] not χαίρετεchaireterejoice ὅτιhotithat τὰtathe πνεύματαpneumataspirits ὑμῖνhyminto you , ὑποτάσσεταιhypotassetaisubmit χαίρετεchaireterejoice δὲdebut ὅτιhotithat τὰta- ὀνόματαonomatanames ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἐγράφηegrapheare written ἐνenin τοῖςtois- οὐρανοῖςouranoisheaven . ”
21ἘνEnAt αὐτῇautēthat τῇtē- ὥρᾳhōratime ἠγαλλιάσατοēgalliasato[Jesus] rejoiced τῷtōthe ΠνεύματιPneumatiSpirit ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΚαὶKai“ And εἶπενeipenhe asked ἘξομολογοῦμαίExomologoumai“ I praise σοιsoiYou , ΠάτερPaterFather , ΚύριεKyrieLord τοῦtou- οὐρανοῦouranouof heaven καὶkaiand τῆςtēs- γῆςgēsearth , ὅτιhotibecause ἀπέκρυψαςapekrypsasYou have hidden ταῦταtautathese things ἀπὸapofrom σοφῶνsophōn[the] wise καὶkaiand συνετῶνsynetōnlearned , καὶkaiand ἀπεκάλυψαςapekalypsasrevealed αὐτὰautathem νηπίοιςnēpioisto little children . ναίnaiYes , ὁho- ΠατήρPatērFather , ὅτιhotifor οὕτωςhoutōsthis ἐγένετοegenetowas εὐδοκίαeudokiawell-pleasing ἔμπροσθένemprosthenin Your sight σουsou. . . .
22καὶkai- στραφεὶςstrapheis[Jesus] turned πρὸςprosto τοὺςtousthe μαθητὰςmathētasdisciples εἰπὲ*eipeTell ΠάνταPantaAll things μοιmoito Me παρεδόθηparedothēhave been entrusted ὑπὸhypoby τοῦtou- ΠατρόςPatrosFather . μουmouMy καὶkai- οὐδεὶςoudeisNo one ἐπιγινώσκειepiginoskeiinitiates τίςtiswho ἐστινestinis ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon εἰeiexcept μὴmē. . . ὁhothe ΠατήρPatērFather , καὶkaiand [no one knows] τίςtiswho ἐστινestinis ὁhothe ΠατὴρPatērFather εἰeiexcept μὴmē. . . ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon καὶkaiand ᾧhōthose to whom ἐὰνean- βούληταιboulētaichooses ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon ἀποκαλύψαιapokalypsaito reveal [Him] . ”
23ΚαὶKaiThen στραφεὶςstrapheis[Jesus] turned πρὸςprosto τοὺςtousthe μαθητὰςmathētasdisciples κατ’kat’vvv ἰδίανidianprivately , εἰπὲ*eipeTell ΜακάριοιMakarioi“ Blessed [are] οἱhoithe ὀφθαλμοὶophthalmoieyes οἱhoithat βλέποντεςblepontessee ἃhawhat βλέπετεblepeteyou see .
24λέγωlegōI tell γὰρgarFor ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhotithat πολλοὶpolloimany προφῆταιprophētaiprophets καὶkaiand βασιλεῖςbasileiskings ἠθέλησανēthelēsandesired ἰδεῖνideinto see ἃhawhat ὑμεῖςhymeisyou βλέπετεblepetesee καὶkai[but] οὐκoukvvv εἶδον*eidonthey saw καὶkai[but] ἀκοῦσαιakousaito hear ἃhawhat ἀκούετεakoueteyou hear καὶkai[but] οὐκoukvvv ἤκουσανēkousandid not hear [it] . ”
25ΚαὶKaiOne day ἰδοὺidou. . . νομικόςnomikosexpert in the law τιςtisan ἀνέστηanestēstood up ἐκπειράζωνekpeirazōnto test αὐτὸνautonHim . ΚαὶKaiOne day λέγωνlegōnhe asked , ΔιδάσκαλεDidaskale“ Teacher , ” τίti“ what ποιήσαςpoiēsasmust I do ζωὴνzōēnlife ? ” αἰώνιονaiōnioneternal κληρονομήσωklēronomēsōto inherit
26ὉHo- δὲde- εἰπὲ*eipeTell πρὸςprosat αὐτὸνautonHim ἦνēnhad τῷtō- νόμῳnomōLaw ? ” τίti“ What γέγραπταιgegraptaiis written πῶςpōs“ How ἀναγινώσκειςanaginōskeisdo you read [it] ? ”
27ὉHo- δὲde- ἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisvvv εἶπενeipenHe answered , ἈγαπήσειςAgapēseis“‘ Love ΚύριονKyrion[the] Lord τὸνton- ΘεόνTheonGod σουsouyour ἐξexwith ὅληςholēsall τῆςtēs- καρδίαςkardiasheart σουsouyour καὶkaiand ἐξexwith ὅληςholēsall τῆςtēs- ψυχῆςpsukhessoul σουsouyour καὶkaiand ἐξexwith ὅληςholēsall τῆςtēs- ἰσχύοςiskhuosstrength σουsouyour καὶkaiand ἐξexwith ὅληςholēsall τῆςtēs- διανοίαςdianoiasin [the] thoughts σουsouyour καὶkaiand τὸνton- πλησίονplēsionneighbor σουsou‘ [Love] your ὡςhōsas σεαυτόνseautonyourself .’ ”
28εἰπὲ*eipeTell δὲde- αὐτῷautōhim , ὈρθῶςOrthōscorrectly , ” ἀπεκρίθηςapekrithēs“ You have answered τοῦτοtoutothis ποίειpoiei“ Do καὶkaiand ζήσῃzēsēyou will live . ”
29ὉHo- δὲdeBut θέλωνthelōnwanting δικαιοῦνdikaiounto justify ἑαυτὸνheautonhimself , εἰπὲ*eipeTell πρὸςprosat τὸνton- ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus , ΚαὶKai“ And τίςtiswho ἐστίestiis μουmoumy πλησίονplēsionneighbor ? ”
30ὙπολαβὼνHypolabōntook up [this question] δὲdeBut ὉHo- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus εἶπενeipensaid , ἌνθρωπόςAnthrōposman τιςtis“ A κατέβαινενkatebainenwas going down ἀπὸapofrom ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem εἰςeisto ἸεριχὼIerichōJericho καὶkaiwhen λῃσταῖςlēstaisof robbers . περιέπεσενperiepesenhe fell into the hands οἳhoi[They] καὶkai- ἐκδύσαντεςekdysantesstripped [him] , αὐτὸνautonhim , καὶkai- πληγὰςplēgas. . . ἐπιθέντεςepithentesbeat ἀπῆλθονapēlthon[and] went away , ἀφέντεςaphentesleaving [him] ἡμιθανῆhēmithanēhalf dead . τυγχάνονταtugkanontahappening
31ΚατὰKataby συγκυρίανsynkyrianchance δὲdeNow ἱερεύςhiereuspriest τιςtisa κατέβαινενkatebainenwas going down ἐνen. . . τῇtē- ὁδῷhodōroad , ἐκείνῃekeinēthe same καὶkaibut ἰδὼνidōnwhen he saw αὐτὸνautonhim , ἀντιπαρῆλθενantiparēlthenhe passed by on the other side .
32ὉμοίωςHomoiōsSo too , δὲde- καὶkai- ΛευίτηςLeuitēs[when] a Levite γενόμενοςgenomenosHe came κατὰkatato τὸνtonthat τόπονtoponspot ἐλθὼνelthōncame καὶkai- ἰδὼνidōnwhen he saw ἀντιπαρῆλθε.antiparelthehe passed by on the other side .
33ΣαμαρείτηςsamareitesSamaritan δὲde- τιςtisa ὁδεύωνhodeuōnon a journey ἔλθῃelthēshould come κατ’kat’upon αὐτὸνautonhim , καὶkai- ἰδὼνidōnhe looked at [him] αὐτὸνautonhim , ἐσπλαγχνίσθηesplanchnisthē[and] had compassion .
34καὶkai- προσελθὼνproselthōnHe went to [him] κατέδησεkatedese[and] bandaged τὰta- τραύματαtraumatawounds , αὐτοῦautouhis ἐπιχέωνepicheōnpouring on ἔλαιονelaionoil καὶkaiand οἶνονoinonwine . ἐπιβιβάσαςepibibasashe put δὲdeThen αὐτὸνautonhim ἐπὶepion τὸto- ἴδιονidionhis own κτῆνοςktēnosanimal , ἤγαγενēgagenbrought αὐτὸνautonhim εἰςeisto πανδοχεῖονpandocheionan inn , καὶkaiand ἐπεμελήθηepemelēthētook care αὐτοῦautouof him .
35ΚαὶKai- ἐπὶepi- τὴνtēnThe αὔριονaurionnext day ἐξελθὼνexelthōnhe came out ἐκβαλὼνekbalōnhe took out δύοdyotwo by two δηνάριαdēnariadenarii , ἔδωκεedokegave [it] τῷtō- πανδοχεῖpandocheiinnkeeper . καὶkai- εἶπενeipenhe said , αὐτῷautōhim , ἘπιμελήθητιEpimelēthēti‘ Take care αὐτοῦautouof him , ’ καὶkai- ὅτιhotithat ἂνan. . . προσδαπανήσῃςprosdapanēsēsexpense . ’ ἐγὼegōmy ἐνenon τῷtō- ἐπανέρχεσθαίepanerchesthaireturn μεmeI ἀποδώσωapodōsōwill repay σοιsoiyou ΤίςTisWhich
36οὖνoun- τούτωνtoutōnof these τῶνtōn- τριῶνtriōnthree πλησίονplēsiona neighbor δοκεῖdokeithink σοιsoi{do} you γεγονέναιgegonenaiwas τοῦtouto the [man] ἐμπεσόντοςempesontoswho fell into the hands εἰςeisof τοὺςtous- λῃστάςlēstasrobbers ? ”
37ὉHo“ The [one] δὲde- εἶπενeipenreplied [the expert in the law] . ὉHo- ποιήσαςpoiēsaswho showed τὸto- ἔλεοςeleosmercy , ” μετ’met’. . . αὐτοῦautouhim εἶπενeipenreplied [the expert in the law] . οὖνoun- αὐτῷautōhim , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΠορεύουPoreuou“ Go καὶkaiand σὺsy- ποίειpoieido ὁμοίωςhomoiōslikewise . ” ἐγένετοegenetowas
38δὲdebut ἐνenin τῷtōthe πορεύεσθαιporeuesthaitraveled along , αὐτοὺςautousthey καὶkaiand αὐτὸςautos[Jesus] εἰσῆλθενeisēlthenentered εἰςeis. . . κώμηνkōmēnvillage τινάtinaa γυνὴgynēwoman δέde[where] τιςtisa ὀνόματιonomatinamed ΜάρθαMarthaMartha ὑπεδέξατοhypedexatowelcomed αὐτὸνautonHim εἰςeis. . . τὸνton- οἶκονoikonhome . αὐτῆςautēsher . ”
39καὶkaiand τῇδεtēdeShe ἦνēnhad ἀδελφὴadelphēa sister καλουμένηkaloumenēnamed ΜαρίαMariaMary ἣhēwho καὶkai- παρακαθίσασαparakathisasasat παρὰparawith τοὺςtousthe πόδαςpodasfeet τοῦtouvvv ἸησοῦIēsouto Jesus . ἤκουεekouelistening to τὸνton- λόγονlogonmessage . αὐτοῦautouHis

42ἑνόςhenosone δέdeBut ἐστιestiis χρείαchreianecessary . ΜαρίαMariaMary δέdeBut τὴνtēnthe ἀγαθὴνagathēngood μερίδαmeridaportion , ἐξελέξατοexelexatohas chosen ἥτιςhētis[and it] οὐκoukvvv ἀφαιρεθήσεταιaphairethēsetaiwill not be taken away from ἀπ’ap’by αὐτῆςautēsher . ”
