2ΧάριςCharisGrace ὑμῖνhyminto you καὶkaiand εἰρήνηeirēnēpeace ἀπὸapofrom ΘεοῦTheouGod ΠατρὸςPatrosFather ἡμῶνhēmōnour καὶkaiand ΚυρίουKyriouthe Lord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist .
3ΕὐχαριστεῖνEucharisteinto thank ὀφείλομενopheilomenWe are obligated τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōGod πάντοτεpantoteall the time , περὶperifor ὑμῶνhymōnyou ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , καθὼςkathōsas ἄξιόνaxionfitting , ἐστινestinis ὅτιhotibecause ὑπεραυξάνειhyperauxaneiis growing more and more , ἡhē- πίστιςpistisfaith ὑμῶνhymōnyour καὶkaiand πλεονάζειpleonazeiis increasing . ἡhē- ἀγάπηagapēlove ἑνὸςhenosvvv ἑκάστουhekastouvvv πάντωνpantōnvvv ὑμῶνhymōnyour εἰςeisfor ἀλλήλουςallēlousone another
4ὥστεhōsteThat is why ἡμᾶςhēmaswe αὐτοὺςautous- ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhymin- καυχᾶσθαιkauchasthaiboast , ἐνen- ταῖςtais- ἐκκλησίαιςekklēsiaischurches τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod’s ὑπὲρhyperabout τῆςtēs- ὑπομονῆςhypomonēsperseverance ὑμῶνhymōnyour καὶkaiand πίστεωςpisteōsfaith ἐνenin the face of πᾶσιpasiall τοῖςtois- διωγμοῖςdiōgmoispersecution ὑμῶνhymōn[the] καὶkaiand ταῖςtais- θλίψεσινthlipsesinaffliction αἷςhais- ἀνέχεσθεanechestheyou are enduring .
5ἜνδειγμαEndeigma[ All this is ] clear evidence τῆςtēs- δικαίαςdikaiasrighteous κρίσεωςkriseōsjudgment . τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God’s εἰςeisAnd so τὸto- καταξιωθῆναιkataxiōthēnaiwill be counted worthy ὑμᾶςhymasyou τῆςtēsof the βασιλείαςbasileiaskingdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God , ὑπὲρhyperfor ἧςhēswhich καὶkai- πάσχετεpascheteyou are suffering .
6εἴπερeiperAfter all , δίκαιονdikaion[it is] only right παρὰparafor ΘεῷTheōGod ἀνταποδοῦναιantapodounaito repay τοῖςtoisthose who θλίβουσινthlibousinafflict ὑμᾶςhymasyou , θλῖψινthlipsinwith affliction
7καὶkaiand ὑμῖνhyminto you τοῖςtoiswho θλιβομένοιςthlibomenoisare oppressed ἄνεσινanesinto grant relief μεθ’meth’and ἡμῶνhēmōnto us [as well] . ἐνen[This will take place when] τῇtē- ἀποκαλύψειapokalypseiis revealed τοῦtouthe ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ἀπ’ap’from οὐρανοῦouranouheaven μετ’met’with ἀγγέλωνangelōnangels δυνάμεωςdynameōsmighty αὐτοῦautouHis
8ἐνenin πυρὶpyrifire , φλογόςphlogosblazing διδόντοςdidontosinflicting ἐκδίκησινekdikēsinvengeance τοῖςtoison those who μὴmēvvv εἰδόσιeidosido not know ΘεὸνTheonGod καὶkaiand τοῖςtois- μὴmēvvv ὑπακούουσιupakouousithey obey τῷtōthe εὐαγγελίῳeuangeliōgospel τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus . ΧριστοῦChristouChrist .
9οἵτινεςhoitines[They] δίκηνdikēn[the] penalty τίσουσινtisousinwill suffer ὄλεθρονolethrondestruction , αἰώνιονaiōnionof eternal ἀπὸaposeparated from προσώπουprosōpou[the] presence τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord καὶkaiand ἀπὸapo- τῆςtēsthe δόξηςdoxēsglory τῆςtēsof ἰσχύοςischyosmight , αὐτοῦautouHis
10ὅτανhotan- ἔλθῃelthēHe comes ἐνδοξασθῆναιendoxasthēnaito be glorified ἐνenin τοῖςtois- ἁγίοιςhagioissaints αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand θαυμασθῆναιthaumasthēnairegarded with wonder ἐνenby πᾶσιpasiall τοῖςtoiswho πιστεύσασινpisteusasinhave believed , ὅτιhotiincluding ἐπιστεύθηepisteuthēwho have believed τὸto- μαρτύριονmartyriontestimony . ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἐφ’eph’- ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐνenby τῇtē- ἡμέρᾳhēmeraday ἐκείνῃekeinē[the]
11ΕἰςEisTo this end ὃho. . . καὶkai. . . , προσευχόμεθαproseuchomethawe always pray πάντοτεpantote. . . περὶperifor ὑμῶνhymōnyou , ἵναhinathat ὑμᾶςhymasvvv ἀξιώσῃaxiōsēwill count you worthy τῆςtēsof [His] κλήσεωςklēseōscalling , ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod ἡμῶνhēmōnour καὶkai. . . , πληρώσῃplērōsēHe will powerfully fulfill πᾶσανpasan[your] every εὐδοκίανeudokiandesire ἀγαθωσύνηςagathōsynēsgood καὶkaiand ἔργονergonwork πίστεωςpisteōsof faith , ἐνenvvv δυνάμειdynameivvv
12ὅπωςhopōsso that ἐνδοξασθῇendoxasthēwill be glorified τὸtothe ὄνομαonomaname τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist . ἐνenin ὑμῖνhyminyou , καὶkaiand ὑμεῖςhymeisyou ἐνenin αὐτῷautōHim , κατὰkataaccording to τὴνtēnthe χάρινcharingrace τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod ἡμῶνhēmōnof our καὶkaiand ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist .
