1ἩHē- φιλαδελφίαphiladelphiain brotherly love . μενέτωmenetōContinue τῆςtēs- φιλοξενίαςphiloxeniasto show hospitality to strangers , μὴmē{Do} not ἐπιλανθάνεσθεepilanthanestheneglect
2διὰdiaby so doing ταύτηςtautēs. . . γὰρgarfor ἔλαθόνelathonwithout knowing it . τινεςtinessome [people] ξενίσαντεςxenisanteshave entertained ἀγγέλουςangelousangels
3μιμνῄσκεσθεmimnēskestheRemember τῶνtōnthose δεσμίωνdesmiōnin prison ὡςhōsas if συνδεδεμένοιsyndedemenoiyou were bound with [them] , τῶνtōn[and] those who κακουχουμένωνkakouchoumenōnare mistreated ὡςhōsas if καὶkai- αὐτοὶautoiyou ὄντεςonteswere ἐνenvvv σώματιsōmati[suffering with them] .
4ΤίμιοςTimiosshould be honored ὁho- γάμοςgamosMarriage ἐνenby πᾶσιpasiall καὶkaiand ἡhēthe κοίτηkoitēmarriage bed ἀμίαντοςamiantoskept undefiled , πόρνουςpornousthe sexually immoral δὲdeAnd καὶkaiand μοιχοὺςmoichousadulterers . κρινεῖkrineiwill judge ὁho- ΘεόςTheosGod
5ἈφιλάργυροςAphilargyrosfree from the love of money ὁhovvv τρόποςtroposKeep your lives ἀρκούμενοιarkoumenoi[and] be content τοῖςtoiswith what παροῦσινparousinyou have , αὐτὸςautos[God] γὰρgarfor εἴρηκενeirēkenhas said : ΟὐOu“ Never μήmēvvv σεseyou , ἀνῶanōwill I leave οὐδ’oud’vvv οὐounever μήmēvvv σεseyou .” ἐγκαταλίπωenkatalipōwill I forsake
6ὭστεHōsteSo θαρροῦνταςtharrountaswith confidence : ἡμᾶςhēmaswe λέγεινlegeinsay ΚύριοςKyrios“ [The] Lord [is] ἐμοὶemoimy βοηθόςboēthoshelper ; καὶkai- οὐouvvv φοβηθήσομαιphobēthēsomaiI will not be afraid . τίtiWhat ποιήσειpoiēseido μοιmoito me ?” ἄνθρωποςanthrōpos{can} man
7ΜνημονεύετεMnēmoneueteRemember τῶνtōn- ἡγουμένωνhēgoumenōnleaders ὑμῶνhymōnyour οἵτινεςhoitineswho ἐλάλησανelalēsanspoke ὑμῖνhyminto you . τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God ὧνhōnof [their] ἀναθεωροῦντεςanatheōrountesConsider τὴνtēnthe ἔκβασινekbasinoutcome τῆςtēs- ἀναστροφῆςanastrophēsway of life μιμεῖσθεmimeisthe[and] imitate τὴνtēn[their] πίστινpistinfaith .
8ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΧριστὸςChristosChrist χθὲςkhthesyesterday καὶkaiand σήμερονsēmerontoday ὁho[is] the αὐτόςautossame καὶkaiand εἰςeisvvv τοὺςtousvvv αἰῶναςaiōnasforever .
9ΔιδαχαῖςDidachaisteachings , ποικίλαιςpoikilaisall kinds καὶkai- ξέναιςxenais[of] strange μὴmē{Do} not παραφέρεσθεparapheresthebe carried away [by] καλὸνkalon[it is] good γὰρgarfor χάριτιcharitiby grace βεβαιοῦσθαιbebaiousthaito be strengthened τὴνtēnfor the καρδίανkardianheart οὐou[and] not βρώμασινbrōmasinby foods ἐνento [them] . οἷςhois- οὐκoukof no ὠφελήθησανōphelēthēsanvalue οἱhoito those περιπατήσαντες.peripatesantesas you walk along ? ”
10ἜχομενEchomenWe have θυσιαστήριονthysiastērionan altar ἐξexfrom οὗhouwhich φαγεῖνphageinto eat . οὐκoukno ἔχουσινechousinhave ἐξουσίανexousianright οἱhoithose who τῇtēat the σκηνῇskēnētabernacle λατρεύοντεςlatreuontesserve
11ὯνHōn- γὰρgar[Although] εἰσφέρεταιeispheretaibrings ζῴωνzōōnof animals τὸtothe αἷμαhaimablood περὶperi[as a sacrifice] for ἁμαρτίαςhamartiassin , εἰςeisinto τὰtathe ἅγιαhagiaHoly Place διὰdia- τοῦtouthe ἀρχιερέωςarchiereōshigh priest τούτωνtoutōn- τὰtathe σώματαsōmatabodies κατακαίεταιkatakaietaiare burned ἔξωexōoutside τῆςtēsthe παρεμβολῆςparembolēscamp .
12διὸdioso καὶkaiAnd ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus {also} ἵναhinato ἁγιάσῃhagiasēsanctify διὰdiaby τοῦtou[His] ἰδίουidiouown αἵματοςhaimatosblood . τὸνtonthe λαόνlaonpeople ἔξωexōoutside τῆςtēsthe πύληςpylēs[city] gate , ἔπαθε.epathesuffered
13τοίνυνtoinynTherefore ἐξερχώμεθαexerchōmethalet us go πρὸςprosto αὐτὸνautonHim ἔξωexōoutside τῆςtēsthe παρεμβολῆςparembolēscamp , τὸνtonthe ὀνειδισμὸνoneidismondisgrace αὐτοῦautouHe [bore] . φέροντεςpherontesbearing
14οὐouvvv γὰρgarFor ἔχομενechomenwe do not have ὧδεhōdehere μένουσανmenousana permanent πόλινpolincity , ἀλλὰallabut τὴνtēnthe μέλλουσανmellousan[city] that is to come . ἐπιζητοῦμενepizētoumenwe are looking for
15Δι’Di’Through αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] , οὖνountherefore , ἀναφέρωμενanapherōmenlet us continually offer θυσίανthysian[a] sacrifice αἰνέσεωςaineseōsof praise , διὰdia. . . παντὸςpantos. . . τῷtōto ΘεῷTheōGod τοῦτ’tout’- ἐστίestiI have καρπὸνkarpon[the] fruit χειλέωνcheileōnof lips ὁμολογούντωνhomologountōnthat confess τῷtō- ὀνόματιonomatiname . αὐτοῦautouHis
16τῆςtēs- δὲdeAnd εὐποιΐαςeupoiiasto do good καὶkaiand κοινωνίαςkoinōniasto share with others , μὴmē{do} not ἐπιλανθάνεσθεepilanthanestheneglect τοιαύταιςtoiautaiswith such γὰρgarfor θυσίαιςthysiaissacrifices εὐαρεστεῖταιeuaresteitaiis pleased . ὁho- ΘεόςTheosGod
17ΠείθεσθεPeithestheObey τοῖςtois- ἡγουμένοιςhēgoumenoisleaders ὑμῶνhymōnyour καὶkaiand ὑπείκετεhypeiketesubmit [to them] , αὐτοὶautoithey γὰρgarfor ἀγρυπνοῦσινagrypnousinwatch ὑπὲρhyperover τῶνtōn- ψυχῶνpsychōnsouls ὑμῶνhymōnyour ὡςhōsas λόγονlogonan account . ἀποδώσοντεςapodōsontesthose who must give ἵναhinaTo this end , μετὰmetawith χαρᾶςcharasjoy τοῦτοtouto[to lead] ποιῶσιpoiosido καὶkaiand μὴmēnot στενάζοντεςstenazontes[with] grief , ἀλυσιτελὲςalysiteles[would be] of no advantage γὰρgarfor ὑμῖνhyminto you . τοῦτοtoutothat
18ΠροσεύχεσθεProseuchesthePray περὶperifor ἡμῶνhēmōnus ; πεποίθαμενpepoithamenwe have confidence γὰρgar- ὅτιhotithat καλὴνkalēna clear συνείδησινsyneidēsinconscience ἔχομενechomenwe have ἐνenin πᾶσιpasiall καλῶςkalōshonorably θέλοντεςthelontes[and] desire ἀναστρέφεσθαιanastrephesthaito live
19περισσοτέρωςperissoterōs. . . δὲdeAnd παρακαλῶparakalōI especially urge τοῦτοtouto. . . ποιῆσαιpoiēsaiyou to [pray] ἵναhinathat τάχιονtachionsoon . ἀποκατασταθῶapokatastathōI may be restored ὑμῖνhyminto you
20ὉHothe δὲdeNow {may} ΘεὸςTheosGod τῆςtēs- εἰρήνηςeirēnēsof peace , ὁhowho ἀναγαγὼνanagagōnbrought ἐκekback from νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead τὸνton- ποιμέναpoimenaShepherd τῶνtōnof the προβάτωνprobatōnsheep , τῶνtōnof the μέγανmegangreat ἐνenwith αἵματιhaimati[the] blood διαθήκηςdiathēkēscovenant αἰωνίουaiōniouof [the] eternal τὸνton- ΚύριονKyrionLord ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus ,
21καταρτίσαιkatartisaiequip ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐνenwith παντὶpantievery ἔργῳergōaction ἀγαθῷagathōgood {thing} εἰςeisto τὸto- ποιῆσαιpoiēsaido τὸto- θέλημαthelēmawill . αὐτοῦautouHis ποιῶνpoiōn[And] may He accomplish ἐνenin ὑμῖνhyminto you τὸtowhat [is] εὐάρεστονeuarestonpleasing ἐνώπιονenōpionin His sight αὐτοῦautou. . . διὰdiathrough ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , ᾧhōto whom [be] ἡhē- δόξαdoxaglory εἰςeisvvv τοὺςtousvvv αἰῶναςaiōnasforever τῶνtōn[and] αἰώνωνaiōnōnever . ἀμήνamēnAmen .
22ΠαρακαλῶParakalōI urge δὲde- ὑμᾶςhymasyou , ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , ἀνέχεσθεanechestheto bear with τοῦtou[my] λόγουlogouword τῆςtēs- παρακλήσεωςparaklēseōsof exhortation , καὶkai- γὰρgarfor διὰdiavvv βραχέωνbracheōnbriefly . ἐπέστειλαepesteilaI have {only} written ὑμῖνhyminto you
23ΓινώσκετεGinōsketeBe aware [that] τὸνton- ἀδελφὸνadelphonbrother ΤιμόθεονTimotheonTimothy ἀπολελυμένονapolelymenonhas been released . μεθ’meth’with οὗhou[him] {to see} ἐὰνeanIf τάχιονtachionsoon , ἔρχηταιerchētaihe arrives ὄψομαιopsomaiI will come ὑμᾶςhymasyou .
24ἈσπάσασθεAspasastheGreet πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtous- ἡγουμένουςhēgoumenousleaders ὑμῶνhymōnyour καὶkaiand πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtousthe ἁγίουςhagioussaints . ἈσπάζονταιAspazontaisend you greetings ὑμᾶςhymas. . . . οἱhoiThose ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēs- ἸταλίαςItaliasItaly
