1ΤὸTo- λοιπόνloiponFinally , ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , μουmoumy χαίρετεchaireterejoice ἐνenin ΚυρίῳKyriō[the] Lord . τὰtathe αὐτὰautasame things γράφεινgrapheinto write ὑμῖνhyminto you ἐμοὶemoifor me μὲνmenagain , οὐκouk[It is] no ὀκνηρόνoknērontrouble ὑμῖνhyminto you δὲdeand ἀσφαλέςasphales[it is] a safeguard
2ΒλέπετεBlepeteWatch out for τοὺςtousthose κύναςkynasdogs , βλέπετεblepete- τοὺςtousthose κακοὺςkakousof evil , ἐργάταςergatasworkers βλέπετεblepete- τὴνtēnthose κατατομήνkatatomēnmutilators of the flesh !
3ἡμεῖςhēmeis[it is] we γάρgarFor ἐσμενesmen[who] are ἡhēthe περιτομήperitomēcircumcision , οἱhoiwe who ΠνεύματιPneumatiby [the] Spirit ΘεοῦTheouof God , λατρεύοντεςlatreuontesworship καὶkaiwho καυχώμενοιkauchōmenoiglory ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus , καὶkaiand [who] οὐκoukvvv ἐνenin σαρκὶsarki[the] flesh — πεποιθότεςpepoithotesput no confidence
4καίπερkaiperthough ἐγὼegōI myself ἔχωνechōncould have πεποίθησινpepoithēsinsuch confidence καὶkai. . . ἐνen. . . σαρκίsarki. . . . ΕἴEiIf τιςtisanyone δοκεῖdokeithinks ἄλλοςalloselse πεποιθέναιpepoithenaihe has grounds for confidence ἐνenin σαρκίsarki[the] flesh , ἐγὼegōI μᾶλλονmallon[have] more :
5περιτομῇperitomēcircumcised ὀκταήμεροςoktaēmeroson [the] eighth day , ἐκekof γένουςgenous[the] people ἸσραήλIsraēlof Israel , φυλῆςphylēsof [the] tribe ΒενιαμίνBeniaminof Benjamin ; ἙβραῖοςHebraiosa Hebrew ἐξexof ἙβραίωνHebraiōnHebrews ; κατὰkataas to νόμονnomon[the] law , ΦαρισαῖοςPharisaiosa Pharisee ;
6κατὰkataas to ζῆλονzēlonzealous διώκωνdiōkōnpersecuting τὴνtēnthe ἐκκλησίανekklēsianchurch ; κατὰkataas to δικαιοσύνηνdikaiosynēnrighteousness τὴνtēn- ἐνenin νόμῳnomō[the] law , γενόμενοςgenomenos- ἄμεμπτοςamemptosfaultless .
7ἀλλ’all’Instead , ἅτιναhatinawhatever ἦνēnwas μοιmoito me κέρδηkerdēgain ταῦταtauta- ἥγημαιhēgēmaiI count as διὰdiafor the sake of τὸνton- ΧριστὸνChristonChrist . ζημίανzēmianloss
8ἀλλὰallaMore than that μενοῦνγεmenoungeIndeed [they did] : καὶkai. . . , ἡγοῦμαιhēgoumaiI count πάνταpantaall things ζημίανzēmianloss εἶναιeinaias διὰdiacompared to τὸtothe ὑπερέχονhyperechonsurpassing excellence τῆςtēsof γνώσεωςgnōseōsknowing ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord , μουmoumy δι’di’for ὃνhonwhom τὰta- πάνταpantaall things . ἐζημιώθηνezēmiōthēnI have lost καὶkai- ἡγοῦμαιhēgoumaiI consider [them] σκύβαλαskybalarubbish , εἶναιeinaias ἵναhinathat ΧριστὸνChristonChrist κερδήσωkerdēsōI may gain
9καὶkaiand εὑρεθῶheurethōbe found ἐνenin αὐτῷautōHim , μὴmēnot ἔχωνechōnhaving ἐμὴνemēnmy own δικαιοσύνηνdikaiosynēnrighteousness τὴνtēn- ἐκekfrom νόμουnomou[the] law , ἀλλὰallabut τὴνtēnthat which διὰdia[is] through πίστεωςpisteōsfaith ΧριστοῦChristouin Christ , τὴνtēnthe ἐκekfrom ΘεοῦTheouGod δικαιοσύνηνdikaiosynēnrighteousness ἐπὶepion the basis of τῇtē- πίστειpisteifaith .
10τοῦtou- γνῶναιgnōnai[I want] to know αὐτὸνauton[Christ] καὶkaiand τὴνtēnthe δύναμινdynaminpower τῆςtēsof ἀναστάσεωςanastaseōsresurrection αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand τὴνtēnthe κοινωνίανkoinōnianfellowship παθημάτωνpathēmatōnsufferings , αὐτοῦautouHis συμμορφούμενοςsummorphoumenosbeing conformed τῷtōto [Him] θανάτῳthanatōdeath , αὐτοῦautouin His
11εἴeiand so , πωςpōssomehow , καταντήσωkatantēsōto attain εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe ἐξανάστασινexanastasinresurrection τὴνtēn- ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead .
12ΟὐχOuchNot ὅτιhotithat ἤδηēdēvvv ἔλαβονelabonI have already obtained [all this] , ἢēor ἤδηēdēvvv τετελείωμαιteteleiōmaihave already been made perfect , διώκωdiōkōI press on δὲdebut εἰei- καὶkai- καταλάβωkatalabōto take hold of ἐφ’eph’that for which ᾧhō. . . καὶkai- κατελήφθηνkatelephthentook hold of me . ὑπὸhypo- τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus
13ἀδελφοίadelphoiBrothers , ἐγὼegōI ἐμαυτὸνemautonmyself οὔπωoupōvvv λογίζομαιlogizomaiconsider κατειληφέναιkateilēphenaiyet to have taken hold [of it] .
14ἓνhenone thing [I do] δέdeBut τὰtawhat is μὲνmen- : ὀπίσωopisōbehind ἐπιλανθανόμενοςepilanthanomenosForgetting τοῖςtoiswhat [is] δὲdeand ἔμπροσθενemprosthenahead , ἐπεκτεινόμενοςepekteinomenosstraining toward κατὰkatatoward σκοπὸνskopon[the] goal διώκωdiōkōI press on ἐπὶepion the basis of τῷtōto [Him] βραβεῖονbrabeionprize τῆςtēsof ἄνωanōheavenly κλήσεωςklēseōscalling τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod’s ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus .
15ὍσοιHosoiAll of us who οὖνoun- τέλειοιteleioi[are] mature τοῦτοtoutovvv φρονῶμενphronōmenshould embrace this point of view . καὶkaiAnd εἴeiif τιtiabout some issue , ἑτέρωςheterōsdifferently φρονεῖτεphroneiteyou think καὶkaiAnd τοῦτοtoutovvv ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod ὑμῖνhyminto you ἀποκαλύψειapokalypseiwill reveal
16πλὴνplēnNevertheless , εἰςeisto ὃhowhat ἐφθάσαμενephthasamenwe have already attained . τῷtō. . . αὐτῷautō. . . στοιχεῖνstoicheinwe must live up κανόνιkanonirule , τῷtō. . . αὐτῷautō. . . φροινεῖν.phroineinmind ,
17ΣυμμιμηταίSymmimētaiJoin one another in following μουmoumy [example] , γίνεσθεginesthe. . . ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , καὶkaiand σκοπεῖτεskopeitecarefully observe τοὺςtousthose who οὕτω*houtō- περιπατοῦνταςperipatountaswalk καθὼςkathōsaccording to ἔχετεechetewe set for you τύπονtyponthe pattern ἡμᾶςhēmas. . . .
18πολλοὶpolloiMany γὰρgarFor περιπατοῦσινperipatousinlive οὓςhous[as] πολλάκιςpollakis. . . ἔλεγονelegonI have often told ὑμῖνhyminyou {before} , νῦνnynnow δὲdeand καὶkaieven κλαίωνklaiōnwith tears : λέγωlegōsay [again] τοὺςtous- ἐχθροὺςechthrous[as] enemies τοῦtouof the σταυροῦstauroucross τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ .
19ὧνhōn[Their] τὸto- τέλοςtelosend [is] ἀπώλειαapōleiadestruction , ὧνhōn[their] ὁho- θεὸςtheosgod [is] ἡhē[their] κοιλίαkoiliabelly , καὶkaiand ἡhē[their] δόξαdoxaglory ἐνen[is] in τῇtē- αἰσχύνῃaischynēshame . αὐτῶνautōntheir οἱhoiTheir τὰtathings . ἐπίγειαepigeiaearthly φρονοῦντεςphronountesminds are set on
20ἩμῶνHēmōnour γὰρgarBut τὸto- πολίτευμαpoliteumacitizenship ἐνenin οὐρανοῖςouranoisheaven , ὑπάρχειhyparcheiis ἐξexfrom οὗhou[there] , καὶkaiand ΣωτῆραSōtēraa Savior ἀπεκδεχόμεθαapekdechomethawe eagerly await ΚύριονKyrion[the] Lord ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus ΧριστόνChristonChrist ,
21ὃςhoswho , μετασχηματίσειmetaschēmatiseiwill transform τὸto- σῶμαsōmabodies τῆςtēs- ταπεινώσεωςtapeinōseōslowly ἡμῶνhēmōnour εἰςeisto τῷtō. . . γενέσθαιgenesthaihad spoken , αὐτῷautō. . . σύμμορφονsymmorphonto be like τῷtō- σώματιsōmatibody . τῆςtēs- δόξηςdoxēsglorious αὐτοῦautouHis κατὰkataby τὴνtēnthe ἐνέργειανenergeianpower τοῦtouvvv δύνασθαιdynasthaithat enables Him αὐτὸνautonvvv καὶkai. . . ὑποτάξαιhypotaxaito subject αὑτῷhautōto Himself , τὰta- πάνταpantaall things
