2ēor ἐπιστολὴepistolēletter , ἡμῶνhēmōnour ὑμεῖςhymeisYou yourselves ἐστεesteare ἐγγεγραμμένηeggegrammeneinscribed ἐνenon ταῖςtais- καρδίαιςkardiaishearts , ἡμῶνhēmōnour γινωσκομένηginōskomenēknown καὶkaiand ἀναγινωσκομένηanaginōskomenēread ὑπὸhypoby πάντωνpantōneveryone ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōn. . . .
3φανερούμενοιphaneroumenoiIt is clear ὅτιhotithat ἐστὲesteyou are ἐπιστολὴepistolēa letter ΧριστοῦChristoufrom Christ , διακονηθεῖσαdiakonētheisathe result of our ministry ὑφ’hyph’. . . ἡμῶνhēmōn. . . , ἐγγεγραμμένηeggegrammeneinscribed οὐounot μέλανιmelaniwith ink ἀλλὰallabut ΠνεύματιPneumatiwith [the] Spirit ΘεοῦTheouGod , ζῶντοςzōntosof [the] living οὐκouknot ἐνenon πλαξὶplaxitablets λιθίναιςlithinaisof stone ἀλλὰallabut ἐνenon πλαξὶplaxitablets καρδίαιςkardiaishearts . σαρκίναιςsarkinaisof human
4ΠεποίθησινPepoithēsinconfidence δὲde- τοιαύτηνtoiautēnSuch ἔχομενechomenis ours διὰdiathrough τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouChrist . πρὸςprosbefore τὸνton- ΘεόνTheonGod
5οὐχouchNot ὅτιhotithat ἱκανοίhikanoicompetent ἐσμενesmenwe are ἀφ’aph’in ἑαυτῶνheautōnourselves λογίσασθαίlogisasthaito claim that τιtianything ὡςhōs[comes] ἐξexfrom ἑαυτῶνheautōnus , ἀλλ’all’but - ἱκανότηςhikanotēscompetence ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἐκek[comes] from τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod .
6ὃςhosHe καὶkaiAnd ἱκάνωσενhikanōsenhas qualified ἡμᾶςhēmasus διακόνουςdiakonous[as] ministers καινῆςkainēsof a new διαθήκηςdiathēkēscovenant , οὐounot γράμματοςgrammatosof [the] letter ἀλλὰallabut πνεύματοςpneumatosof [the] Spirit ; τὸtothe γὰρgarfor γράμμαgrammaletter ἀποκτέννει*apoktenneikills , τὸtothe δὲdebut πνεῦμαpneumaSpirit ζωοποιεῖzōopoieigives life .
7ΕἰEiif δὲdeNow the διακονίαdiakoniaministry τοῦtou- θανάτουthanatouof death , ἐνenin γράμμασινgrammasinletters ἐντετυπωμένηentetypōmenēwhich was engraved ἐνenin λίθοιςlithoison stone , ἐγενήθηegenēthēcame ἐνenwith δόξῃdoxē{such} glory ὥστεhōstethat μὴnot δύνασθαιdynasthaicould ἀτενίσαιatenisaigaze τοὺςtousthe υἱοὺςhuiousvvv ἸσραὴλIsraēlIsraelites εἰςeisat τὸtothe πρόσωπονprosōponface ΜωϋσέωςMōuseōsof Moses διὰdiabecause of τὴνtēn- δόξανdoxanglory , τοῦtouvvv προσώπουprosōpou[its] αὐτοῦautouvvv τὴνtēn- καταργουμένηνkatargoumenēnfleeting
8πῶςpōs- οὐχὶouchinot μᾶλλονmallon{be} even more the διακονίαdiakoniaministry τοῦtouof the πνεύματοςpneumatosSpirit ἔσταιestaiwill ἐνenvvv δόξῃdoxēglorious ?
9εἰeiif γὰρgarFor the διακονίαdiakoniaministry τῆςtēs- κατακρίσεωςkatakriseōsof condemnation δόξαdoxawas glorious , πολλῷpollōhow much μᾶλλονmallonmore περισσεύειperisseuei. . . {is} the διακονίαdiakoniaministry τῆςtēs- δικαιοσύνηςdikaiosynēsof righteousness ! ἐνenin δόξῃdoxēglorious
10καὶkaiIndeed γὰρgar. . . , ΟὐδὲOude“ vvv δεδόξασταιdedoxastaihas no glory now τῷ- δεδοξασμένονdedoxasmenonwas once glorious ἐνenin τούτῳtoutō- τῷ- μέρειmereicomparison to ἕνεκενhenekenfor My sake τῆςtēsthe ὑπερβαλλούσηςhyperballousēssurpasses [it] . δόξηςdoxēsglory [that]
11εἰeiif γὰρgarFor τὸtowhat καταργούμενονkatargoumenonwas fading away διὰdia[came] with δόξηςdoxēsglory , πολλῷpollōhow much greater μᾶλλονmallon. . . τὸtoof that which μένονmenonendures ! ἐνen[is the] δόξῃdoxēglory
12ἜχοντεςEchontessince we have οὖνounTherefore , τοιαύτηνtoiautēnsuch ἐλπίδαelpidaa hope , πολλῇpollēvery παρρησίᾳparrēsiabold . χρώμεθαchrōmethawe are
13καὶkai[We are] οὐounot καθάπερkathaperlike ΜωϋσῆςMōusēsMoses , ἐτίθειetithei[who] would put κάλυμμαkalymmaa veil ἐπὶepiover τὸto- πρόσωπονprosōponface ἑαυτοῦheautouhis πρὸςprosto keep τὸto- μὴ[from] ἀτενίσαιatenisaigazing τοὺςtousthe υἱοὺςhuiousvvv ἸσραὴλIsraēlIsraelites εἰςeisat τὸtothe τέλοςtelosend τοῦtouof what καταργουμένουkatargoumenouwas fading away .
14ἀλλ’all’And even ἐπωρώθηepōrōthēwere closed . τὰta- νοήματαnoēmataminds αὐτῶνautōntheir ἄχριachrito γὰρgarFor τῆςtēs- σήμερονsēmeron[this] τὸtothe αὐτὸautosame κάλυμμαkalymmaveil ἐπὶepiat τῇthe ἀναγνώσειanagnōseireading τῆςtēsof the παλαιᾶςpalaiasold διαθήκηςdiathēkēscovenant . μένειmeneiremains μὴvvv ἀνακαλυπτόμενονanakalyptomenonIt has not been lifted , ὅτιhoti[because] only ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist καταργεῖταιkatargeitaican it be removed .
15ἀλλ’all’And even ἕωςheōsto σήμερονsēmeronthis day ἡνίκαhēnikawhen ἂνan. . . ἀναγινώσκηταιanaginōskētaiis read , ΜωϋσῆςMōusēsMoses κάλυμμαkalymmaa veil ἐπὶepi. . . τὴνtēn- καρδίανkardianhearts . αὐτῶνautōntheir κεῖταιkeitaicovers
16ἡνίκαhēnikawhen δ’d’but ἂνan. . . ἐπιστρέψῃepistrepsē[anyone] turns πρὸςprosto ΚύριονKyrion[the] Lord , περιαιρεῖταιperiaireitaiis taken away . τὸtothe κάλυμμαkalymmaveil
17Hothe δὲdeNow ΚύριοςKyriosLord τὸtothe ΠνεῦμάPneumaSpirit , ἐστινestinis οὗhouwhere δὲdeand τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord [is] , ἐκεῖekeithere ἐλευθερίαeleutheria[there is] freedom .
18ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe, [who] δὲdeAnd πάντεςpantesall ἀνακεκαλυμμένῳanakekalymmenōwith unveiled προσώπῳprosōpōfaces τὴνtēnthe δόξανdoxanglory ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord , κατοπτριζόμενοιkatoptrizomenoireflect τὴνtēnthe αὐτὴνautēn[His] εἰκόναeikonaimage μεταμορφούμεθαmetamorphoumethaare being transformed into ἀπὸapovvv δόξηςdoxēsvvv εἰςeisvvv δόξανdoxanwith intensifying glory , καθάπερkathaperwhich comes ἀπὸapofrom ΚυρίουKyriou[the] Lord , ΠνεύματοςPneumatos[who is the] Spirit .
