2ΟἴδατεOidate“ You know ὅτιhotithat μετὰmetaaway , δύοdyotwo ἡμέραςhēmerasdays τὸtothe πάσχαpaschaPassover γίνεταιginetaiis καὶkaiand ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man παραδίδοταιparadidotaiwill be handed εἰςeisover τὸto- σταυρωθῆναιstaurōthēnaito be crucified . ”

4καὶkaiand συνεβουλεύσαντοsynebouleusantothey conspired ἵναhinato τὸνton- ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus δόλῳdolōcovertly κρατήσωσιkratesosiarrest καὶkaiand ἀποκτείνωσινapokteinōsinkill [Him] .
5ἔλεγονelegonthey said , δέde“ But ΜὴMēnot ἐνenduring τῇtēthe ἑορτῇheortēfeast , ” ἵναhina“ or μὴmē. . . θόρυβοςthorybosa riot γένηταιgenētaithere may be ἐνenamong τῷtōthe λαῷlaōpeople . ”
6ΤοῦTou- δὲdeWhile ἸησοῦIēsouJesus γενομένουgenomenouwas ἐνenin ΒηθανίᾳBēthaniaBethany ἐνenin οἰκίᾳoikia[the] home ΣίμωνοςSimōnosof Simon τοῦtouthe λεπροῦleprouLeper ,
7προσῆλθενprosēlthencame αὐτῷautōto Him γυνὴgynēa woman ἀλάβαστρονalabastronan alabaster jar μύρουmyrouperfume , ἔχουσαechousawith βαρυτίμουbarytimouof expensive καὶkai- κατέχεενkatecheenwhich she poured ἐπὶepion τὴνtēnthe κεφαλὴνkephalēnhead . ” αὐτοῦautouHis ἀνακειμένουanakeimenouas He reclined at the table .
8ἸδόντεςIdontessaw this , δὲdeWhen οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples αὐτοῦautouHis ἠγανάκτησανēganaktēsanthey were indignant λέγοντεςlegontesand asked , ΕἰςEis“ Why τίti. . . ἡhē- ἀπώλειαapōleiawaste ? αὕτηhautēthis
9ἐδύνατοedynatocould γὰρgar- τοῦτοtoutoThis [perfume] τῷtōthe μύρονmyronperfume πραθῆναιprathēnaihave been sold πολλοῦpollouat a high price , καὶkaiand δοθῆναιdothēnai[the money] given τοῖςtois. . . πτωχοῖςptōchoisto [the] poor . ”
10ΓνοὺςGnousAware of this , δὲde- ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus εἶπενeipenasked αὐτοῖςautois- , ΤίTi“ Why κόπουςkopous. . . παρέχετεparecheteare you bothering τῇtē[this] γυναικίgynaikiwoman ? ἔργονergondeed γὰρgar- καλὸνkalona beautiful εἰργάσατοeirgasato[and] put them to work εἰςeisto ἐμέemeMe .
11τοὺςtousThe πτωχοὺςptōchouspoor γὰρgar- πάντοτεpantotevvv ἔχετεecheteyou will always have μεθ’meth’with ἑαυτῶνheautōnyou , ἐμὲemeMe . δὲdebut οὐou{you will} not πάντοτεpantotealways ἔχετεechetehave
12βαλοῦσαbalousaBy pouring γὰρgar- αὕτηhautē- τὸto- μύρονmyronperfume τοῦτοtoutothis ἐπὶepion τοῦtou. . . σώματόςsōmatosbody μουmouMy πρὸςprosfor τὸto- ἐνταφιάσαιentaphiasaiburial . μεmeMe , ἐποίησενepoiēsenshe has prepared
13ἀμὴνamēnTruly λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou , ὅπουhopouwherever ἐὰνean. . . κηρυχθῇkērychthēis preached τὸto- εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel τοῦτοtoutothis ἐνenin ὅλῳholōall τῷtōthe κόσμῳkosmōworld , λαληθήσεταιlalēthēsetaiwill also be told καὶkaivvv ὃhowhat ἐποίησενepoiēsenhas done αὕτηhautēshe εἰςeisin μνημόσυνονmnēmosynonmemory of αὐτῆςautēsher . ”
14ΤότεToteThen πορευθεὶςporeutheiswent εἷςheisone τῶνtōnof the δώδεκαdōdekaTwelve , ὁhothe [one] λεγόμενοςlegomenoscalled ἸούδαςIoudasJudas ἸσκαριώτηςIskariōtēsIscariot , πρὸςprosto τοὺςtousthe ἀρχιερεῖςarchiereischief priests εἰπὲeipesay
15ΤίTi“ What θέλετέtheleteare you willing μοιmoime δοῦναιdounaito give καὶkaiSo ἐγώegōI , ὑμῖνhyminyou παραδώσωparadōsōhand αὐτόνautonHim {over} οἱhoi- δὲdeAnd ἔστησανestēsanthey set out αὐτῷautōfor him τριάκονταtriakontathirty ἀργύριαargyriapieces of silver .
16καὶkaiSo ἀπὸapofrom τότεtotethen on ἐζήτειezētei[Judas] looked for εὐκαιρίανeukairianan opportunity ἵναhinato αὐτὸνauton[Jesus] . παραδῷparadōbetray
17ΤῇTēOn the δὲde- πρώτῃprōtēfirst [day] τῶνtōnof the ἀζύμωνazymōnFeast of Unleavened [Bread] , προσῆλθονprosēlthoncame οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples τῷtō- ἸησοῦIēsouto Jesus λέγοντεςlegontes[and] asked , αὐτῷautōhim [that] ΠοῦPou“ Where θέλειςtheleisdo You want ἑτοιμάσωμένhetoimasōmenus to prepare σοιsoifor You φαγεῖνphageinto eat τὸtothe πάσχαpaschaPassover ? ”
18ὉHo- δὲde- εἶπενeipenHe answered , ὙπάγετεHypagete“ Go εἰςeisinto τὴνtēnthe πόλινpolincity πρὸςprosto τὸνtona δεῖναdeinacertain man καὶkaiand εἴπατεeipatetell αὐτῷautōhim [that] ὉHOthe ΔιδάσκαλοςDidaskalosTeacher λέγειlegeisays , ὉHo- καιρόςkairostime μουmou‘ My ἐγγύςengysnear . ἐστι·estiis πρὸςprosat σὲseyour [house] .’ ” ποιῶpoiōI will keep τὸtothe πάσχαpaschaPassover μετὰmetawith τῶνtōn- μαθητῶνmathētōndisciples μουmouMy
19καὶkaiSo ἐποίησανepoiēsandid οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples ὡςhōsas συνέταξενsynetaxenhad directed αὐτοῖςautoisthem ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus καὶkaiand ἡτοίμασανhētoimasanprepared τὸtothe πάσχαpaschaPassover .
20ὈψίαςOpsiasevening δὲdeWhen γενομένηςgenomenēscame , ἀνέκειτοanekeito[Jesus] was reclining μετὰmetawith τῶνtōnthe δώδεκαdōdekatwelve
21καὶkaiAnd while ἐσθιόντωνesthiontōnthey were eating , αὐτῶνautōnto them , εἶπενeipenHe said ἈμὴνAmēn“ Truly λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhoti- , εἷςheisone ἐξexof ὑμῶνhymōnyou παραδώσειparadōseiwill betray μεmeMe . ”
22ΚαὶKai- λυπούμενοιlypoumenoiThey were deeply grieved σφόδραsphodra. . . ἤρξαντοērxanto[and] began λέγεινlegeinto ask αὐτῷautōHim ἕκαστοςhekastosafter another , αὐτῶνautōnto them , ΜήτιMēti. . . ἐγώegōI , εἰμιeimi“ Surely not ΚύριεKyrieLord ? ”
23ὉHo- δὲde- ἀποκριθεὶςapokritheis[Jesus] answered εἶπενeipen. . . , ὉHo“ The [one] ἐμβάψαςembapsaswho has dipped μετ’met’with ἐμοῦemouMe ἐνeninto τῷtōthe τρυβλίῳtrybliōbowl τὴνtēn[his] χεῖραcheirahand οὗτόςhoutos- μεmeMe . παραδώσειparadōseiwill betray
24ὁhoThe μὲνmen- ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ὑπάγειhypageiwill go καθὼςkathōsjust as γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written περὶperiabout αὐτοῦautouHim , οὐαὶouaiwoe δὲdebut τῷtō- ἀνθρώπῳanthrōpōman ἐκείνῳekeinōto that δι’di’by οὗhouwhom ὁho[He] ΥἱὸςHuios. . . τοῦtou. . . ἀνθρώπουanthrōpou. . . παραδίδοταιparadidotaiis betrayed . καλὸνkalonbetter ἦνēnIt would be αὐτῷautōfor him εἰeiif οὐκoukvvv ἐγεννήθηegennēthēhad not been born . ” ὁhowho ἄνθρωποςanthrōpos. . . ἐκεῖνοςekeinos[he]
25ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheissaid δὲdeThen ἸούδαςIoudasJudas , ὁhowho παραδιδοὺςparadidouswould betray αὐτὸνautonHim , εἰπὲeipesay ΜήτιMētinot ἐγώegōI , εἰμιeimi“ Surely ῥαββίrhabbiRabbi ? ” ΛέγειLegei[Jesus] answered αὐτῷautō. . . , ΣὺSy“ You εἶπαςeipashave said [it] yourself . ”
26ἘσθιόντωνEsthiontōnwere eating , δὲdeWhile αὐτῶνautōnthey λαβὼνlabōntook ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τῶνtōn- ἄρτονartonbread , καὶkai- εὐλογήσαςeulogēsasspoke a blessing ἔκλασεeklase[and] broke [it] , καὶkai- ἐδίδουedidouHe gave [them] τοῖςtoisto the μαθηταῖςmathētaisdisciples , καὶkaiand εἰπὲeipesay ΛάβετεLabete“ Take φάγετεphagete[and] eat ; τοῦτόtoutothis ἐστιestiis τὸto- σῶμάsōmabody . ” μουmouMy
27ΚαὶKaiThen λαβὼνlabōnHe took τὸto- ποτήριονpotērion[the] cup , καὶkai- εὐχαριστήσαςeucharistēsasgave thanks , ἔδωκενedōken[and] gave [it] αὐτοῖςautoisto them , λέγωνlegōnsaying , ΠίετεPiete“ Drink ἐξexfrom αὐτοῦautouit , πάντεςpantesall of you .
28τοῦτοtoutoThis γάρgar- ἐστιestiis τὸto- αἷμάhaimablood μουmouMy τὸto- τῆςtēsof the καινῆςkainesnew διαθήκηςdiathēkēscovenant , τὸtowhich περὶperifor πολλῶνpollōnmany ἐκχυνόμενονekkhunomenonis poured out εἰςeisfor ἄφεσινaphesin[the] forgiveness ἁμαρτιῶνhamartiōnof sins .
29λέγωlegōI tell δὲde- ὑμῖνhyminyou , ὅτιhoti- οὐouvvv μήmēvvv πίωpiōI will not drink ἀπ’ap’from ἄρτιartinow on ἐκekof τούτουtoutouthis τοῦtou- γεννήματοςgennematosfruit τῆςtēsof the ἀμπέλουampelouvine ἕωςheōsuntil τῆςtēs- ἡμέραςhēmerasday ἐκείνηςekeinēsthat ὅτανhotanwhen αὐτὸautoit πίνωpinōI drink μεθ’meth’with ὑμῶνhymōnyou καινὸνkainonanew ἐνenin τῇtē- βασιλείᾳbasileiakingdom . ” τοῦtou- ΠατρόςPatrosFather’s μουmouMy
30ΚαὶKaiAnd [when] ὑμνήσαντεςhymnēsantesthey had sung a hymn , ἐξῆλθονexēlthonthey went out εἰςeisto τὸtothe ὄροςorosMount τῶνtōn- ἘλαιῶνElaiōnof Olives . ΤότεToteThen λέγειlegeisaid αὐτοῖςautoisto them , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus
31ΠάντεςPantesvvv ὑμεῖςhymeisyou σκανδαλισθήσεσθεskandalisthēsesthewill all fall away ἐνenon account of ἐμοὶemoiMe . ἐνenon account of τῇtēvery νυκτὶnyktinight ταύτῃtautēThis γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written : γάρgarFor ΠατάξωPataxō‘ I will strike τὸνtonthe ποιμέναpoimenaShepherd , ΚαὶKaiand διασκορπισθήσονταιdiaskorpisthēsontaiwill be scattered .’ τὰtathe πρόβαταprobatasheep τῆςtēsof the ποίμνηςpoimnēsflock
32ΜετὰMetaafter δὲdeBut τὸto- ἐγερθῆναίegerthēnaiI have risen , μεmeI προάξωproaxōwill go ahead of ὑμᾶςhymasyou εἰςeisinto τὴνtēn- ΓαλιλαίανGalilaianGalilee . ”
33ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheis- δὲde- ὁho- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter εἶπενeipensaid αὐτῷautōto Him , ΕἰEi“ Even if πάντεςpantesall σκανδαλισθήσονταιskandalisthēsontaifall away ἐνenon account of σοίsoiYou , ἐγὼegōI δὲde- οὐδέποτεoudepotenever σκανδαλισθήσομαιskandalisthēsomaiwill . ”
34ἜφηEphēdeclared αὐτῷautō- , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἈμὴνAmēn“ Truly λέγωlegōI tell σοιsoiyou , ” ὅτιhoti- ἐνen“ - ταύτῃtautēthis τῇtēvery νυκτὶnyktinight , πρὶνprinbefore ἀλέκτοραalektora[the] rooster φωνῆσαιphōnēsaicrows , τρὶςtristhree times . ” ἀπαρνήσῃaparnēsēyou will deny μεmeMe
35ΛέγειLegeireplied αὐτῷautō- , ὁho- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ΚἂνKan“ Even if δέῃdeēI have to μεme. . . σὺνsynwith σοὶsoiYou , ἀποθανεῖνapothaneindie οὐouvvv μήmēvvv σεseYou . ” ἀπαρνήσομαιaparnēsomaiI will never deny ὁμοίωςhomoiōsthe same thing . δὲde- ΚαὶKaiand ΠάντεςPantesvvv οἱhoithe other μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples εἰπὼνeipōnsaying
36τότεtoteThen ἔρχεταιerchetaiHe returned μετ’met’accompanied by αὐτὸνauton. . . ὉHothe ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus εἷςheisone χωρίονchōriona place λεγόμενονlegomenoncalled Γεθσημανῆ,gethsemaneGethsemane , καὶkaiand λέγειlegeiHe told τοῖςtois- μαθηταῖςmathētais[them] , ΚαθίσατεKathisate“ Sit αὐτοῦautouhere ἕωςheōswhile οὗhou. . . ἀπελθὼνapelthōnI go προσεύξωμαιproseuxōmai[and] pray . ” ἐκεῖekeiover there
37ΚαὶKai- παραλαβὼνparalabōnHe took with Him τὸνton- ΠέτρονPetronPeter καὶkaiand τοὺςtousthe δύοdyotwo υἱοὺςhuioussons ΖεβεδαίουZebedaiouof Zebedee ἤρξατοērxato[and] began λυπεῖσθαιlypeisthaito be sorrowful καὶkaiand ἀδημονεῖνadēmoneindeeply distressed .
38τότεtoteThen λέγειlegeiHe said αὐτοῖςautoisto them , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΠερίλυπόςPerilyposconsumed with sorrow ἐστινestinis ἡhē- ψυχήpsychēsoul μουmou“ My ἕωςheōsto the point θανάτουthanatouof death . μείνατεmeinateStay ὧδεhōdehere καὶkaiand γρηγορεῖτεgrēgoreitekeep watch μετ’met’with ἐμοῦemouMe . ”
39ΚαὶKai- προελθὼνproelthōnGoing μικρὸνmikrona little {farther} , ἔπεσενepesenHe fell ἐπὶepivvv πρόσωπονprosōponfacedown αὐτοῦautouvvv προσευχόμενοςproseuchomenos[and] prayed καὶkai- λέγωνlegōn- , ΠάτερPaterFather , μουmou“ My εἰeiif δυνατόνdynatonpossible , ἐστι,estiis παρελθέτωparelthetopass ἀπ’ap’from ἐμοῦemouMe . τὸto- ποτήριονpotērioncup τοῦτοtouto{let} this πλὴνplēnYet οὐχouchnot ὡςhōsas ἐγὼegōI θέλωthelōwill , ἀλλ’all’but ὡςhōsas σύsyYou [will] . ”
40ΚαὶKaiThen ἔρχεταιerchetai[Jesus] returned πρὸςprosto τοὺςtousthe μαθητὰςmathētasdisciples καὶkaiand εὑρίσκειheuriskeifound αὐτοὺςautousthem καθεύδονταςkatheudontassleeping . καὶkaiand λέγειlegeiHe asked τῷtō- ΠέτρῳPetrōPeter . ΟὕτωςHoutōs“ - οὐκoukvvv ἰσχύσατεischysateWere you not able μίανmian[for] one ὥρανhōranhour ? ” γρηγορῆσαιgrēgorēsaito keep watch μετ’met’with ἐμοῦemouMe
41γρηγορεῖτεgrēgoreite“ Watch καὶkaiand προσεύχεσθεproseuchesthepray ἵναhinaso that μὴmēvvv εἰσέλθητεeiselthēteyou will not enter εἰςeisinto πειρασμόνpeirasmontemptation . τὸtothe μὲνmenFor πνεῦμαpneumaspirit πρόθυμονprothymon[is] willing , ἡhēthe δὲdebut σὰρξsarxbody ἀσθενήςasthenēs[is] weak . ”
42ΠάλινPalinvvv ἐκekvvv δευτέρουdeuterouA second time ἀπελθὼνapelthōnHe went away προσηύξατοprosēuxato[and] prayed λέγωνlegōn- , ΠάτερPaterFather , μουmou“ My εἰeiif οὐouvvv δύναταιdynataicannot τοῦτοtoutothis [cup] τὸto- ποτήριονpotērioncup παρελθεῖνpareltheinpass ἀπ’ap’from ἐμοῦemouMe . ἐὰνeanunless μὴmē. . . αὐτὸautoit , πίωpiōI drink γενηθήτωgenēthētōbe done . ” τὸto- θέλημάthelēmawill σουsou{may} Your
43καὶkaiAnd ἐλθὼνelthōn[Jesus] returned εὑρίσκειheuriskeifound αὐτοὺςautousthem ΠάλινPalinvvv καθεύδονταςkatheudontassleeping — ἦσανēsanwere γὰρgarfor αὐτῶνautōntheir οἱhoi- ὀφθαλμοὶophthalmoieyes βεβαρημένοιbebarēmenoiheavy .
44ΚαὶKaiSo ἀφεὶςapheisHe left αὐτοὺςautousthem ἀπελθὼνapelthōn[and] went away πάλινpalinonce more προσηύξατοprosēuxato[and] prayed ἐκek- τρίτουtritou[a] third time , τὸνtonthe αὐτὸνautonsame λόγονlogonthing εἰπὼνeipōnsaying
45τότεtoteThen ἔρχεταιerchetaiHe returned πρὸςprosto τοὺςtousthe μαθητὰςmathētasdisciples αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] ΚαὶKaiWhile λέγειlegeisaid αὐτοῖςautois- , ΚαθεύδετεKatheudete“ Are you still sleeping ‹τὸ›to. . . λοιπὸνloipon. . . καὶkaiand ἀναπαύεσθεanapauestheresting ? ἰδοὺidouLook , ἤγγικενēngikenis near , ἡhēthe ὥραhōrahour καὶkaiand ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man παραδίδοταιparadidotaiis betrayed εἰςeisinto χεῖραςcheiras[the] hands ἁμαρτωλῶνhamartōlōnof sinners .

47ΚαὶKaiWhile ἔτιetivvv αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] λαλοῦντοςlalountoswas still speaking ἰδοὺidou- , ἸούδαςIoudasJudas , εἷςheisone τῶνtōnof the δώδεκαdōdekaTwelve , ἔλθῃelthēshould come καὶkai- μετ’met’accompanied by αὐτοῦautou. . . ὄχλοςochloscrowd πολὺςpolysa large μετὰmeta[armed] with μαχαιρῶνmachairōnswords καὶkaiand ξύλωνxylōnclubs , ἀπὸapo[sent] from τῶνtōnthe ἀρχιερέωνarchiereōnchief priests καὶkaiand πρεσβυτέρωνpresbyterōnelders τοῦtouof the λαοῦlaoupeople .
48ὉHothe δὲdeNow παραδιδοὺςparadidousbetrayer αὐτὸνauton. . . ἔδωκενedōkenhad arranged αὐτοῖςautoiswith them σημεῖονsēmeiona signal λέγωνlegōn- : ὋνHon“ The One ἂνan- φιλήσωphilēsōI kiss αὐτόςautos[the man] ; ἐστι·estiis κρατήσατεkratēsatearrest αὐτόνautonHim . ”
49καὶkai- εὐθέωςeutheōsdirectly προσελθὼνproselthōnGoing τῷtō- ἸησοῦIēsouto Jesus , εἰπὲeipesay ΧαῖρεChaire“ Greetings , ῥαββίrhabbiRabbi ! ” καὶkaiand κατεφίλησενkatephilēsenkissed αὐτόνautonHim .
50ὉHo- δὲde- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus εἶπενeipenreplied αὐτῷautō- , ἙταῖρεHetaire“ Friend , ” ἐφ’eph’for .” ὃho“ [do] what πάρειpareiyou came ΤότεToteThen προσελθόντεςproselthontes[the men] stepped forward , ἐπέβαλονepebalonseized τὰςtas. . . χεῖραςcheiras. . . ἐπὶepi. . . τὸνton- ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus , καὶkaiand ἐκράτησανekratēsanarrested αὐτόνautonHim .

52ΤότεTote- λέγειlegeisaid αὐτῷautō- ὁhoto him . ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἈπόστρεψονApostrepson“ Put σουsouyour τὴνtēn- μάχαιράνmachairansword εἰςeisback in τὸνton- τόπονtoponplace , ” αὐτῆςautēsits πάντεςpantesall γὰρgar“ For οἱhoiwho λαβόντεςlabontesdraw μάχαιρανmachairan[the] sword ἐνenby μαχαίρῃmachairē[the] sword . ἀποθανοῦνται.apothanountaiwill be ruined .
53ἢē- δοκεῖςdokeisAre you not aware ὅτιhotithat οὐouvvv δύναμαιdynamaiI can ἄρτιarti. . . παρακαλέσαιparakalesaicall on τὸνton- ΠατέραPateraFather , μουmouMy καὶkaiand παραστήσειparastēseiHe will at once put at My disposal μοιmoi. . . πλείουςpleiousmore than ἢē- δώδεκαdōdekatwelve λεγεῶναςlegeonaslegions ἀγγέλωνangelōnof angels ?

55ἘνEnAt ἐκείνῃekeinēthat τῇtē- ὥρᾳhōratime εἶπενeipensaid ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τοῖςtoisto the ὄχλοιςochloiscrowd , ὩςHōsas ἐπὶepi[you would] λῃστὴνlēstēnan outlaw ? ἐξέλθητεexelthētego out ; μετὰmetawith μαχαιρῶνmachairōnswords καὶkaiand ξύλωνxylōnclubs συλλαβεῖνsyllabeinto arrest μεmeMe καθ’kath’Every ἡμέρανhēmeranday πρὸςprosto [the house of] ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐκαθεζόμηνekathezomēnI sat διδάσκωνdidaskōnteaching ἐνenin τῷtōthe ἱερῷhierōtemple [courts] , καὶkaiand οὐκoukvvv ἐκρατήσατέekratēsateyou did not arrest μεmeMe .
56ΤοῦτοToutothis δὲdeBut ὅλονholon{has} all γέγονενgegonenhappened ἵναhinaso that πληρωθῶσινplērōthōsinwould be fulfilled . ” αἱhaithe γραφαὶgraphaiwritings τῶνtōnof the προφητῶνprophētōnprophets ΤότεToteThen οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples πάντεςpantesall ἀφέντεςaphentesdeserted αὐτὸνautonHim ἔφυγονephygon[and] fled .
57ΟἱHoiThose δὲde- κρατήσαντεςkratēsanteswho had arrested τὸνton- ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus ἀπήγαγονapēgagonled [Him] away πρὸςprosto [the house of] ΚαϊάφανKaiaphanCaiaphas τὸνtonthe ἀρχιερέαarchiereahigh priest , ὅπουhopouwhere οἱhoithe γραμματεῖςgrammateisscribes καὶkaiand οἱhoi- πρεσβύτεροιpresbyteroielders συνήχθησανsynēchthēsanhad gathered .
58ὁho- δὲdeBut ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ἠκολούθειēkoloutheifollowed αὐτῷautōHim ἀπὸapoat μακρόθενmakrothena distance , ἕωςheōsright up τῆςtēsto the αὐλῆςaulēscourtyard τοῦtouof the ἀρχιερέωςarchiereōshigh priest . καὶkaiAnd εἰσελθὼνeiselthōnhe went ἔσωesōin ἐκάθητοekathēto[and] sat down μετὰmetawith τῶνtōnthe ὑπηρετῶνhypēretōnguards ἰδεῖνideinto see τὸtothe τέλοςtelosoutcome .
59ΟἱHoithe δὲdeNow ἀρχιερεῖςarchiereischief priests ΟἱHoithe πρεσβύτεροιpresbyteroielders καὶkaiand τὸtothe συνέδριονsynedrionSanhedrin ὅλονholonwhole ἐζήτουνezētounwere seeking ψευδομαρτυρίανpseudomartyrianfalse testimony κατὰkataagainst τοῦtou- ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ὅπωςhopōsin order to θανατώσωσινthanatōsōsinput Him to death αὐτὸνauton. . . .
60καὶkaiBut οὐχouchvvv εὗρονheuronthey did not find any , καὶkaiBut πολλῶνpollōn[though] many ψευδομαρτύρωνpseudomartyrōnfalse witnesses προσελθόντωνproselthontōncame forward . οὐχouchvvv εὗρονheuronthey did not find any , ὝστερονHysteron. . . δὲdeFinally προσελθόντεςproselthontescame forward δύοdyotwo ψευδομάρτυρεςpseudomarturesfalse witnesses
61εἶπονeiponthey said , ΟὗτοςHoutos“ This [man] ἔφηephēsaid , ΔύναμαιDynamai‘ I am able καταλῦσαιkatalysaito destroy τὸνtonthe ναὸνnaontemple τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God καὶkaiand διὰdiain τριῶνtriōnthree ἡμερῶνhēmerōndays . ’” οἰκοδομῆσαιoikodomēsairebuild it αὐτὸνauton. . . .
62καὶkaiBut ἀναστὰςanastasstood up ὁhothe ἀρχιερεὺςarchiereushigh priest εἶπενeipen[and] asked αὐτῷautōHim , ΟὐδὲνOuden. . . ? ἀποκρίνῃapokrinē“ Have You no answer τίtiWhat οὗτοίhoutoi{are} these [men] σουsouYou ? ” καταμαρτυροῦσινkatamartyrousintestifying against
63ὉHo- δὲdeBut ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἐσιώπαesiōparemained silent . ΚαὶKaiThen ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheis- ὁho- ἀρχιερεὺςarchiereushigh priest εἶπενeipen[and] asked αὐτῷautōHim , ἘξορκίζωExorkizō“ I charge You under oath σεse. . . κατὰkataby τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod : τοῦtouthe ζῶντοςzōntosliving ἵναhina- ἡμῖνhēminus εἴπῃςeipēsTell εἰeiif σὺsyYou εἶeiare ὁhothe ΧριστὸςChristosChrist , ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God . ”
64ΛέγειLegeianswered αὐτῷautō. . . . ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΣὺSy“ You εἶπαςeipashave said [it] yourself , ” πλὴνplēn“ But λέγωlegōI say ὑμῖνhyminto all of you , ἀπ’ap’from ἄρτιartinow on ὄψεσθεopsestheyou will see τὸνtonthe ΥἱὸνHuionSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man καθήμενονkathēmenonsitting ἐκekat δεξιῶνdexiōn[the] right hand τῆςtēs- δυνάμεωςdynameōsof Power καὶkaiand ἐρχόμενονerchomenoncoming ἐπὶepion τῶνtōnthe νεφελῶνnephelōnclouds τοῦtou- οὐρανοῦouranouof heaven .”
65ΤότεToteAt this , ὁhothe ἀρχιερεὺςarchiereushigh priest διέρρηξεdierrexetore τὰta- ἱμάτιαhimatiaclothes αὐτοῦautouhis λέγωνlegōn[and] declared , ὅτιhoti- : Ἐβλασφήμησε·eblasphemese“ He has blasphemed ! τίtiwhat ἔτιetiany more χρείανchreianneed ἔχομενechomendo we μαρτύρωνmartyrōnwitnesses ? ἴδεideLook , νῦνnynnow ἠκούσατεēkousateyou have heard τὴνtēnthe βλασφημίανblasphēmianblasphemy . αὐτοῦautouHis
66τίtiWhat ὑμῖνhymin{do} you δοκεῖdokeithink ? ” ΟἱHoi- δὲde- ἀποκριθέντεςapokrithentesthey answered εἶπονeiponthey said , ἜνοχοςEnochosHe deserves θανάτουthanatouto die , ” ἐστί.estiis
67ΤότεToteThen ἐνέπτυσανeneptysanthey spit εἰςeisin τὸto- πρόσωπονprosōponface αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand ἐκολάφισανekolaphisanstruck αὐτόνautonHim . οἱhoiOthers δὲde- ἐρράπισανerrapisanslapped [Him]
68λέγοντεςlegontes[and] said , ΠροφήτευσονProphēteuson“ Prophesy ἡμῖνhēminto us , ΧριστέChristeChrist ! τίςtisWho ἐστινestin. . . ὁho. . . παίσαςpaisashit σεseYou ? ”
69ὉHo- , δὲdeMeanwhile ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ἔξωexōout ἐκάθητοekathētowas sitting ἐνenin τῇtēthe αὐλῇaulēcourtyard , καὶkaiand προσῆλθενprosēlthencame up αὐτῷautōto him . μίαmiaa παιδίσκηpaidiskēservant girl λέγουσαlegousashe said . ΚαὶKaialso σὺsy“ You ἦσθαēsthawere μετὰmetawith ἸησοῦIēsouJesus τοῦtouthe ΓαλιλαίουGalilaiouGalilean , ”
70ὉHo- δὲdeBut ἠρνήσατοērnēsatohe denied [it] ἔμπροσθενemprosthenbefore αὐτὸνautonhim πάντωνpantōn[them] all λέγωνlegōn- : ΟὐκOuk“ vvv οἶδαoidaI do not know τίtiwhat λέγειςlegeisyou are talking about . ”
71ἘξελθόνταExelthonta[Peter] had gone out δὲdeWhen αὐτὸνautonhim εἰςeisto τὸνtonthe πυλῶναpylōnagateway , εἶδενeidensaw αὐτὸνautonhim ἄλληallēanother [servant girl] καὶkaiand λέγειlegeisaid αὐτοῖςautoiswith them ἐκεῖekeiover there ΚαὶKai- ΟὕτωςHoutōs“ - ἐνen“ - ΜετὰMetaafter ἸησοῦIēsouto Jesus τοῦtou. . . ΝαζωραίουNazōraiouNazareth . ”
72ΚαὶKaiAnd πάλινpalinagain ἠρνήσατοērnēsatohe denied [it] μεθ’meth’with ὅρκουhorkouan oath ὅτιhoti- : ΟὐκOuk“ vvv οἶδαoidaI do not know τὸνtonthe ἄνθρωπονanthrōponman ! ”
73ΜετὰMetaAfter μικρὸνmikrona little while , δὲde- προσελθόντεςproselthontescame up οἱhoithose ἑστῶτεςhestōtesstanding nearby εἶπονeiponthey said , τῷtō- ΠέτρῳPetrōto Peter . ἈληθῶςAlēthōs“ Surely καὶkai- σὺsyyou ἐξexone of αὐτῶνautōnthem , ” εἶeiare καὶkai- γὰρgar“ for ἡhē- λαλιάlaliaaccent σουsouyour δῆλόνdēlonaway . ” σεseyou ποιεῖpoieigives
74ΤότεToteAt that ἤρξατοērxatohe began καταθεματίζεινkatathematizeinto curse καὶkaiand ὀμνύεινomnyeinswear [to them] ὅτιhoti- , ΟὐκOuk“ vvv οἶδαoidaI do not know τὸνtonthe ἄνθρωπονanthrōponman ! ” ΚαὶKaiAnd εὐθέως*eutheōsimmediately ἀλέκτωρalektōra rooster ἐφώνησε.ephonese[and] called out
75ΚαὶKaiThen ἐμνήσθηemnēsthēremembered ὁho- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter τοῦtouthe ῥήματοςrhēmatosword [that] ἸησοῦIēsouJesus εἰρηκότοςeirēkotoshad spoken ὅτιhoti- : ΠρὶνPrin“ Before ἀλέκτοραalektora[the] rooster φωνῆσαιphōnēsaicrows , τρὶςtristhree times . ” ἀπαρνήσῃaparnēsēyou will deny μεmeMe καὶkaiAnd ἐξελθὼνexelthōnhe went ἔξωexōoutside ἔκλαυσεeklause[and] wept πικρῶςpikrōsbitterly .
