1ΕἰEisince οὖνountherefore , συνηγέρθητεsynēgerthēteyou have been raised with τῷ- ΧριστῷChristōChrist , τὰtathe things ἄνωanōabove , ζητεῖτεzēteitestrive for οὗhouwhere ho- ΧριστόςChristosChrist ἐστινestinis ἐνenat δεξιᾷdexia[the] right hand τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God . καθήμενοςkathēmenosseated
2τὰtathings ἄνωanōabove , φρονεῖτεphroneiteSet [your] minds on μὴnot τὰtathings ἐπὶepion τῆςtēs- γῆςgēsearthly
3ἀπεθάνετεapethaneteyou died , γάρgarFor καὶkaiand - ζωὴzōēlife ὑμῶνhymōnyour κέκρυπταιkekryptaiis now hidden σὺνsynwith τῷ- ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἐνenin τῷ- ΘεῷTheōGod .
4ὅτανhotanWhen ho- ΧριστὸςChristosChrist , φανερωθῇphanerōthēappears , who is ζωὴzōēlife , ὑμῶν*hymōnyour τότεtotethen καὶkaialso ὑμεῖςhymeisyou σὺνsynwith αὐτῷautōHim φανερωθήσεσθεphanerōthēsesthewill appear ἐνenin δόξῃdoxēglory .
5ΝεκρώσατεNekrōsatePut to death , οὖνountherefore , τὰtathe μέληmelēcomponents ὑμῶν*hymōnyour τὰtathe ἐπὶepivvv τῆςtēsvvv γῆςgēsearthly nature : πορνείανporneiansexual immorality , ἀκαθαρσίανakatharsianimpurity , πάθοςpathoslust , ἐπιθυμίανepithymiandesires , κακήνkakēnevil καὶkaiand τὴνtēn- πλεονεξίανpleonexiangreed , ἥτιςhētiswhich ἐστὶνestinis εἰδωλολατρίαeidōlolatriaidolatry .
6δι’di’Because of hathese , ἔρχεταιerchetaiis coming the ὀργὴorgēwrath τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God ‹ἐπὶepion τοὺςtousthe υἱοὺςhuioussons τῆςtēsof ἀπειθείας›apeitheiasdisobedience .
7ἐνenamong οἷςhoisthese ways . καὶkai- ὑμεῖςhymeisyou περιεπατήσατέperiepatēsatewalk ποτεpoteused to ὅτεhoteWhen ἐζῆτεezēteyou lived ἐνenamong αὐτοῖςautoisthey
8νυνὶnyninow δὲdeBut ἀπόθεσθεapothesthemust put aside καὶkai- ὑμεῖςhymeisyou τὰta- πάνταpantaall such things as these : ὀργήνorgēnanger , θυμόνthymonrage , κακίανkakianmalice , βλασφημίανblasphēmianslander , αἰσχρολογίανaischrologian[and] filthy language ἐκekfrom τοῦtou- στόματοςstomatoslips . ὑμῶνhymōnyour
9Μὴ{Do} not ψεύδεσθεpseudesthelie εἰςeisto ἀλλήλουςallēlousone another , ἀπεκδυσάμενοιapekdysamenoisince you have taken off τὸνtonthe παλαιὸνpalaionold ἄνθρωπονanthrōponself σὺνsynwith ταῖςtais- πράξεσινpraxesinpractices , αὐτοῦautou[its]
10καὶkaiand ἐνδυσάμενοιendysamenoihave put on τὸνtonthe νέονneonnew [self] , τὸνtonwhich is ἀνακαινούμενονanakainoumenonbeing renewed εἰςeisin ἐπίγνωσινepignōsinknowledge κατ’kat’in εἰκόναeikona[the] image τοῦtouof κτίσαντοςktisantosCreator . αὐτόνauton[its]
11ὅπουhopouHere οὐκoukno ἔνιenithere is ἝλληνHellēnGreek καὶkai[or] ἸουδαῖοςIoudaiosJew , περιτομὴperitomēcircumcised καὶkai[or] ἀκροβυστίαakrobystiauncircumcised , βάρβαροςbarbarosbarbarian , ΣκύθηςSkythēsScythian , δοῦλοςdoulosslave , ἐλεύθεροςeleutheros[or] free , ἀλλὰallabut ‹τὰ›ta- πάνταpantaall καὶkaiand ἐνen[is] in πᾶσιpasiall ΧριστόςChristosChrist [is]
12ἘνδύσασθεEndysastheclothe yourselves with οὖνounTherefore , ὡςhōsas ἐκλεκτοὶeklektoi[the] elect τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God , ἅγιοιhagioiholy καὶkaiand ἠγαπημένοιēgapēmenoibeloved , σπλάγχναsplanchnahearts οἰκτιρμοῦoiktirmouof compassion , χρηστότηταchrēstotētakindness , ταπεινοφροσύνηνtapeinophrosynēnhumility , πρᾳότητα,praotetagentleness , μακροθυμίανmakrothymian[and] patience .
13ἀνεχόμενοιanechomenoiBear with ἀλλήλωνallēlōnone another καὶkaiand χαριζόμενοιcharizomenoiforgive ἑαυτοῖςheautois- ἐάνeanvvv τιςtis[any] πρόςprosagainst τιναtinasomeone else . ἔχῃechēyou may have μομφήνmomphēncomplaint καθὼςkathōsas καὶkai. . . hothe ΚύριοςKyriosLord ἐχαρίσατοecharisatoforgave ὑμῖνhyminyou . οὕτωhoutōso καὶkai. . . ὑμεῖςhymeisForgive
14ἐπὶepiover πᾶσιpasiall δὲdeAnd τούτοιςtoutoisthese [virtues] τὴνtēn- ἀγάπηνagapēn[put on] love , ἥτιςhētiswhich ἐστίestiI have σύνδεσμοςsyndesmos[the] bond τῆςtēs- τελειότητοςteleiotētosof perfect unity .
15καὶkai- {Let] the εἰρήνηeirēnēpeace τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God , βραβευέτωbrabeuetōrule ἐνenin ταῖςtais- καρδίαιςkardiaishearts , ὑμῶνhymōnyour εἰςeis[for] to ἣνhēnthis καὶkai- ἐκλήθητεeklēthēteyou were called ἐνenas members of ἑνὶhenione σώματιsōmatibody . καὶkaiAnd εὐχάριστοιeucharistoithankful . γίνεσθεginesthebe
16Ho{Let} the λόγοςlogosword τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ ἐνοικείτωenoikeitōdwell ἐνenwithin ὑμῖνhyminyou πλουσίωςplousiōsrichly ἐνenwithin πάσῃpasēall σοφίᾳsophiawisdom , διδάσκοντεςdidaskontesas you teach καὶkaiand νουθετοῦντεςnouthetountesadmonish ἑαυτοὺςheautousone another ψαλμοῖςpsalmoispsalms , καὶkaiand ὕμνοιςhymnoishymns , καὶkaiand ᾠδαῖςōdaissongs πνευματικαῖςpneumatikais[and] spiritual ἐνenwith χάριτιcharitigratitude ᾄδοντεςadontes[and] as you sing ἐνenwith τῇ- καρδίᾳkardiahearts ὑμῶνhymōnyour τῷto ΚυρίῳKyriō[the] Lord .
17καὶkaiand πᾶνpanwhatever ὅτιhotithat ἂνan. . . ποιῆτεpoiēteyou do , ἐνenwith λόγῳlogōword ēor ἐνen- ἔργῳergōdeed , πάνταpanta[do it] all ἐνenin ὀνόματιonomati[the] name ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus , εὐχαριστοῦντεςeucharistountesgiving thanks τῷ- ΘεῷTheōto God καὶkaiand ΠατρὶPatri[the] Father δι’di’through αὐτοῦautouHim .
18ΑἱHai- γυναῖκεςgynaikesWives , ὑποτάσσεσθεhypotassesthesubmit τοῖςtoisto [your] ἀνδράσινandrasinhusbands , ὡςhōsas ἀνῆκενanēkenis fitting ἐνenin ΚυρίῳKyriō[the] Lord .
19ΟἱHoi- ἄνδρεςandresHusbands , ἀγαπᾶτεagapatelove τὰςtas[your] γυναῖκαςgynaikaswives καὶkaiand μὴ{do} not πικραίνεσθεpikrainesthebe harsh πρὸςproswith αὐτάςautasthem .
20ΤὰTa- τέκναteknaChildren , ὑπακούετεhypakoueteobey τοῖςtois[your] γονεῦσιgoneusiparents κατὰkatain πάνταpantaeverything , τοῦτοtoutothis γὰρgarfor ἐστινestinis εὐάρεστόνeuarestonpleasing τῷ- ΚυρίῳKyriō[the] Lord .
21ΟἱHoi- πατέρεςpateresFathers , μὴ{do} not ἐρεθίζετεerethizeteprovoke τὰta- τέκναteknachildren , ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἵναhinaso μὴvvv ἀθυμῶσινathymōsinthey will not become discouraged .
22ΟἱHoi- δοῦλοιdouloiSlaves , ὑπακούετεhypakoueteobey κατὰkataearthly πάνταpantaeverything , τοῖςtois[your] κατὰkataearthly σάρκαsarka. . . κυρίοιςkyrioismasters μὴnot [only] ἐνenvvv ὀφθαλμοδουλίαιςophthalmodouliaiswhile they are watching , ὡςhōsvvv ἀνθρωπάρεσκοιanthrōpareskoito please them ἀλλ’all’but ἐνenwith ἁπλότητιhaplotētisincerity καρδίαςkardiasof heart φοβούμενοιphoboumenoi[and] fear τὸνtonof the ΘεὸνTheonGod .
23καὶkaiand πᾶνpanwhatever ὅτιhotithat ἐὰνean. . . ποιῆτεpoiēteyou do , ἐκekvvv ψυχῆςpsychēswith your whole being , ἐργάζεσθεergazesthework at it ὡςhōsfor τῷthe ΚυρίῳKyriōLord καὶkaiand οὐκouknot ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoisfor men ,
24εἰδότεςeidotesbecause you know ὅτιhotithat ἀπὸapofrom ΚυρίουKyriou[the] Lord ἀπολήψεσθεapolepsestheyou will receive τὴνtēn[as your] ἀνταπόδοσινantapodosinreward . τῆςtēs- κληρονομίαςklēronomiasan inheritance τῷ[It is] the γὰρgar- ΚυρίῳKyriōLord ΧριστῷChristōChrist δουλεύετεdouleueteyou are serving .
25hoWhoever δὲdeAnd ἀδικῶνadikōndoes wrong κομιεῖταιkomieitaiwill reward hoWhoever ἠδίκησε,edikesehis wrong , καὶkaiand οὐκoukno ἐστίestiI have προσωποληψία.prosopolepsiafavoritism
