7ΤίTiWhat οὖνounthen ? ὃhoWhat ἐπιζητεῖepizēteiwas seeking ἸσραήλIsraēlIsrael τοῦτοtouto- , οὐκoukvvv ἐπέτυχενepetychenit failed to obtain , ἡhēthe δὲdebut ἐκλογὴeklogēelect ἐπέτυχενepetychen[did] . οἱhoiThe δὲde- λοιποὶloipoiothers ἐπωρώθησανepōrōthēsanwere hardened ,

8καθὼς*kathōsas γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written : ἜδωκενEdōkengave αὐτοῖςautoisthem ὁho- ΘεὸςTheos“ God πνεῦμαpneumaa spirit κατανύξεωςkatanyxeōsof stupor , ὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmouseyes τοῦtouthat μὴmēvvv βλέπεινblepeincould not see , καὶkaiand ὦταōtaears τοῦtouthat μὴmēvvv ἀκούεινakoueincould not hear , ἕωςheōsto τῆςtēs- σήμερονsēmeronthis very day ἡμέραςhēmeras. . . .”

10σκοτισθήτωσανskotisthētōsanbe darkened οἱhoi- ὀφθαλμοὶophthalmoieyes αὐτῶνautōn{May} their τοῦtouvvv μὴmēvvv βλέπεινblepein[so] they cannot see , καὶkaiand τὸνton- νῶτονnōtonbacks αὐτῶνautōntheir διὰdiavvv παντὸςpantosforever .” σύγκαμψον.sugkampsonbe bent

11ΛέγωLegōI ask οὖνounthen , μὴmēvvv ἔπταισανeptaisandid they stumble ἵναhinaso as πέσωσι;pesosito fall beyond recovery ? μὴmēvvv γένοιτοgenoitoCertainly not ! ἀλλὰallaHowever , τῷtōbecause of αὐτῶνautōntheir παραπτώματιparaptōmatitrespass , ἡhē- σωτηρίαsōtēriasalvation [has come] τοῖςtoisto the ἔθνεσινethnesinGentiles εἰςeisto τὸto- παραζηλῶσαιparazēlōsaimake [Israel] jealous αὐτούςautous. . . .

12εἰeiif δὲdeBut τὸto- παράπτωμαparaptōmatrespass αὐτῶνautōntheir πλοῦτοςploutos[means] riches κόσμουkosmoufor [the] world , καὶkaiand τὸto- ἥττημαhēttēmafailure αὐτῶνautōntheir πλοῦτοςploutos[means] riches ἐθνῶνethnōnfor [the] Gentiles , πόσῳposōhow much μᾶλλονmallongreater [ riches ] τὸto- πλήρωμαplērōmafullness [bring] ! αὐτῶνautōn{will} their

13ὙμῖνHyminto you γὰρgarFor λέγωlegōI am speaking τοῖςtois- ἔθνεσινethnesinGentiles . ἐφ’eph’Inasmuch ὅσονhoson. . . μὲνmen. . . οὖνoun. . . εἰμιeimiam ἐγὼegō{as} I ἀπόστολοςapostolos[the] apostle τὴνtēn- διακονίανdiakonianministry μουmoumy δοξάζωdoxazōI magnify

16εἰeiIf δὲde- ἡhēthe ἀπαρχὴaparchēfirst part [of the dough] ἁγίαhagia[is] holy , καὶkaiso [is] τὸtothe φύραμαphyramawhole batch ; καὶkai- εἰeiif ἡhēthe ῥίζαrhizaroot ἁγίαhagia[is] holy , καὶkaiso [are] οἱhoithe κλάδοιkladoibranches .

17ΕἰEiif δέdeNow τινεςtinessome τῶνtōn- κλάδωνkladōnbranches ἐξεκλάσθησανexeklasthēsanhave been broken off , σὺsyyou , δὲdeand ἀγριέλαιοςagrielaiosa wild olive shoot , ὢνōn- ἐνεκεντρίσθηςenekentristhēshave been grafted in ἐνenamong αὐτοῖςautois[the others] καὶkai- συγκοινωνὸςsugkoinonosto share τῆςtēsin the ῥίζηςrhizēsroot , καὶkai- τῆςtēsin the πιότητοςpiotētosnourishment τῆςtēs- ἐλαίαςelaiasolive ἐγένουegenouvvv

18μὴmē{do} not κατακαυχῶkatakauchōboast over τῶνtōnthose κλάδωνkladōnbranches . εἰeiIf δὲde- κατακαυχᾶσαιkatakauchasai[you do, remember this] : οὐou{do} not σὺsyYou τὴνtēnthe ῥίζανrhizanroot , βαστάζειςbastazeissupport ἀλλὰallabut ἡhēthe ῥίζαrhizaroot [ supports ] σέseyou .

19ἘρεῖςEreisYou will say οὖνounthen , ἘξεκλάσθησανExeklasthēsanwere broken off οἱhoithe κλάδοιkladoibranches . ἵναhinaso that ἐγὼegōI ἐγκεντρισθῶenkentristhōcould be grafted in . ”

20καλῶςkalōsThat is correct : τῇtēbecause of ἀπιστίᾳapistiaunbelief , ἐξεκλάσθησανexeklasthēsanThey were broken off σὺsyyou δὲdebut τῇtēbecause of πίστειpisteiby faith . ἕστηκαςhestēkasstand μὴmē{Do} not ὑψηλοφρόνειipsilofroneiproud ἀλλὰallabut φοβοῦphoboube afraid .

22ἴδεIdeTake notice , οὖνountherefore , χρηστότηταchrēstotēta[of the] kindness καὶkaiand ἀποτομίανapotomianseverity ΘεοῦTheouof God : ἐπὶepito μὲνmen- τοὺςtousthose who πεσόνταςpesontasfell , ἀποτομίανapotomianseverity ἐπὶepito δὲdebut σὲseyou , χρηστότηταchrēstotēta[of the] kindness ἐὰνeanif ἐπιμένῃςepimenēsyou continue in τῇtē[His] χρηστότητιchrēstotētikindness . ἐπεὶepeiOtherwise καὶkaialso σὺsyyou ἐκκοπήσῃekkopēsēwill be cut off .

23καὶkaialso ἐκεῖνοιekeinoithose δέdeAnd ἐὰνeanif μὴmēvvv ἐπιμένωσιepimenosido not persist τῇtē- ἀπιστίᾳapistiain unbelief , ἐγκεντρισθήσονται·egkentristhesontaithey will be grafted in , δυνατὸςdynatosable γὰρgarFor ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod ἐστίestiI have πάλινpalinagain . ἐγκεντρίσαιegkentrisaito graft αὐτούςautousthem {in}

24εἰeiif γὰρgarFor σὺsyyou ἐκekfrom τῆςtēs- κατὰkatavvv φύσινphysinvvv ἐξεκόπηςexekopēswere cut ἀγριελαίουagrielaioua wild olive tree , καὶkaiand παρὰparacontrary to φύσινphysinnature ἐνεκεντρίσθηςenekentristhēswere grafted εἰςeisinto καλλιέλαιονkallielaion[one that is] cultivated , πόσῳposōhow much μᾶλλονmallonmore [ readily ] οὗτοιhoutoi{will} these , οἱhoithe κατὰkatavvv φύσινphysinnatural [branches] , ἐγκεντρισθήσονταιegkentristhesontaithey will be grafted in , τῇtē[their] ἰδίᾳidiaown ἐλαίᾳelaiaolive tree !

25ΟὐOuvvv γὰρgar- θέλωthelōI do not want ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἀγνοεῖνagnoeinto be ignorant ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , τὸto- μυστήριονmystērionmystery , τοῦτοtoutoof this ἵναhinaso that μὴmēvvv ἦτεēteyou will not be παρ’par’vvv ἑαυτοῖςheautois. . . : φρόνιμοιphronimoiconceited ὅτιhoti- πώρωσιςpōrōsisA hardening ἀπὸapoin μέρουςmerouspart τῷtō- ἸσραὴλIsraēlto Israel , γέγονενgegonenhas come ἄχριςakhrisuntil οὗhou. . . τὸtothe πλήρωμαplērōmafull number τῶνtōnof the ἐθνῶνethnōnGentiles εἰσέλθῃeiselthēhas come in .

27καὶkaiAnd αὕτηhautēthis [is] αὐτοῖςautoiswith them ἡhē- παρ’par’vvv ἐμοῦemouMy διαθήκηdiathēkēcovenant ὅτανhotanwhen ἀφέλωμαιaphelōmaiI take away τὰςtas- ἁμαρτίαςhamartiassins .” αὐτῶνautōntheir

28ΚατὰKataRegarding μὲνmen- τὸtothe εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel , ἐχθροὶechthroi[they are] enemies δι’di’on your account ὑμᾶςhymas. . . ; κατὰkataregarding δὲdebut τὴνtēn- ἐκλογὴνeklogēnelection , ἀγαπητοὶagapētoi[they are] loved διὰdiaon account of τοὺςtousthe πατέραςpateraspatriarchs .

29ἀμεταμέληταametamelēta[are] irrevocable . γὰρgar- τὰta- χαρίσματαcharismatagifts καὶkaiand ἡhē[His] κλῆσιςklēsiscall τοῦtouvvv ΘεοῦTheouGod’s

30ὭσπερHōsperJust as γὰρgar- ὑμεῖςhymeisyou [who] ποτεpoteformerly ἠπειθήσατεēpeithēsatedisobeyed τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōGod νῦνnynvvv δὲde- ἠλεήθητεēleēthētehave now received mercy τῇtē- τούτωνtoutōnthrough their ἀπειθείᾳapeitheiadisobedience ,

31οὕτωhoutōso καὶkaitoo οὗτοιhoutoithey νῦνnynvvv ἠπείθησανēpeithēsanhave now disobeyed , τῷtōthrough the ὑμετέρῳhymeterō[shown to] you . ἐλέειeleeimercy ἵναhinain order that καὶkaitoo αὐτοὶautoithey ἐλεηθῶσι·eleethosireceive mercy

32συνέκλεισεsunekleisehas consigned γὰρgarFor ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod τοὺςtous- πάνταςpantaseveryone εἰςeisto ἀπείθειανapeitheiandisobedience ἵναhinaso that τοὺςtous- πάνταςpantaseveryone . ἐλεήσῃeleēsēHe may have mercy on

33ὮŌO , βάθοςbathos[the] depth πλούτουploutouof [the] riches καὶkai- σοφίαςsophiasof [the] wisdom καὶkaiand γνώσεωςgnōseōsknowledge ΘεοῦTheouof God ! ὡςhōsHow ἀνεξερεύνηταanexereunetaunsearchable [are] τὰta- κρίματαkrimatajudgments , αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand ἀνεξιχνίαστοιanexichniastoiuntraceable αἱhai- ὁδοὶhodoiways ! αὐτοῦautouHis

34ΤίςTis“ Who γὰρgar- ἔγνωegnōhas known νοῦνnoun[the] mind ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord ? ἢēOr τίςtiswho σύμβουλοςsymbouloscounselor ?” αὐτοῦautouHis ἐγένετοegenetohas been

35ἢēOr τίςtiswho προέδωκενproedōkenhas first given αὐτῷautōto God , καὶkaithat ἀνταποδοθήσεταιantapodothēsetaiGod should repay αὐτῷautōhim ?”

36ὅτιhotiFor ἐξexfrom αὐτοῦautouHim καὶkaiand δι’di’through αὐτοῦautouHim καὶkaiand εἰςeisto αὐτὸνautonHim τὰta- πάνταpanta[are] all things . αὐτῷautōTo Him [be] ἡhēthe δόξαdoxaglory εἰςeisvvv τοὺςtousvvv αἰῶναςaiōnasforever ! ἀμήνamēnAmen .
