1ὌφελονOphelonI hope ἀνείχεσθέaneichestheyou will bear with μουmouof my μικρόνmikronlittle τῇ- ἀφροσύνῃaphrosynēa fool . ἀλλὰallabut καὶkai. . . ἀνέχεσθέanechesthe[you are already doing that] μουmou. . . .
2ζηλῶzēlōI am jealous for γὰρgar- ὑμᾶςhymasyou ΘεοῦTheouwith a godly ζήλῳzēlōjealousy . ἡρμοσάμηνhērmosamēnI promised γὰρgarFor ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἑνὶhenito one ἀνδρὶandrihusband , παρθένονparthenonvirgin ἁγνὴνhagnēn[as] a pure παραστῆσαιparastēsaito present [you] τῷ- ΧριστῷChristōto Christ .
3ΦοβοῦμαιPhoboumaiI am afraid δὲdehowever , μήπωςmeposno-how ὡςhōsas hothe ὄφιςophisserpent’s ΕὕανHeuanEve ἐξηπάτησενexēpatēsenwas deceived ἐνenby τῇ- πανουργίᾳpanourgiacunning , αὐτοῦautou- οὕτωhoutōso φθαρῇphtharēmay be led astray τὰta- νοήματαnoēmataminds ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēs[your] ἁπλότητοςhaplotētossimple τῆςtēs[your] εἰςeisto ‹τὸν›ton- ΧριστόνChristonChrist .
4εἰeiif μὲνmen- γὰρgarFor ho[someone] ἐρχόμενοςerchomenoscomes ἄλλονallonother ἸησοῦνIēsoun[a] Jesus κηρύσσειkēryssei[and] proclaims ὃνhon[than the One] οὐκouk. . . ἐκηρύξαμενekēryxamenwe proclaimed , ēor if πνεῦμαpneumaspirit ἕτερονheterona different λαμβάνετεlambaneteyou receive ho[than the One] οὐκouk. . . ἐλάβετεelabeteyou received , ēor εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel ἕτερονheterona different ho[than the one] οὐκouk. . . ἐδέξασθεedexastheyou accepted , καλῶςkalōsway too easily . ἀνείχεσθέaneichestheyou will bear with
5ΛογίζομαιLogizomaiI consider myself γὰρgar- μηδὲνmēdenin no way ὑστερηκέναιhysterēkenaiinferior τῶνtōnto those ὙπερλίανHyperlian“ super-apostles ἀποστόλωνapostolōn. . . . ”
6εἰei. . . δὲde- καὶkaiAlthough ἰδιώτηςidiōtēs[I am] not a polished τῷ- λόγῳlogōspeaker , ἀλλ’all’vvv οὐouI am certainly not lacking τῇ- γνώσειgnōseiin knowledge . ἀλλ’all’- ἐνenin παντὶpantievery way possible φανερωθέντεςphanerothentesWe have made this clear ἐνen. . . πᾶσινpasin. . . . εἰςeisto ὑμᾶςhymasyou
7Ē[Was it] ἁμαρτίανhamartiana sin ἐποίησαepoiēsa[for me] ἐμαυτὸνemautonmyself ταπεινῶνtapeinōnto humble ἵναhinain order to ὑμεῖςhymeisvvv ὑψωθῆτεhypsōthēteexalt you , ὅτιhotibecause δωρεὰνdōreanfree of charge ? τὸtothe τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel εὐηγγελισάμηνeuēngelisamēnI preached ὑμῖνhyminto you
8ἄλλαςallasother ἐκκλησίαςekklēsiaschurches ἐσύλησαesylēsaI robbed λαβὼνlabōnby accepting ὀψώνιονopsōnion[their] support πρὸςprosin order τὴνtēn- ὑμῶνhymōnyou . διακονίανdiakonianto serve καὶkaiAnd παρὼνparōnwhen I was πρὸςproswith ὑμᾶςhymasyou καὶkaiand ὑστερηθεὶςhysterētheisin need , οὐouvvv κατενάρκησαkatenarkēsaI was not a burden οὐδενὸςoudenosno one
9τὸto- γὰρgarfor ὑστέρημάhysterēmaneeds . μουmoumy προσανεπλήρωσανprosaneplērōsansupplied οἱhoithe ἀδελφοὶadelphoibrothers ἐλθόντεςelthonteswho came ἀπὸapofrom ΜακεδονίαςMakedoniasMacedonia καὶkai- ἐνenin παντὶpantiany way , ἀβαρῆabarēfrom being a burden ὑμῖνhyminto you ἐμαυτὸνemauton. . . ἐτήρησαetērēsaI have refrained καὶkai- τηρήσωtērēsōI will continue to do so .
10ἔστινestinis ἀλήθειαalētheia[As surely as the] truth ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ ἐνenin ἐμοὶemoime , ὅτιhoti- - καύχησιςkauchēsisboasting αὕτηhautēthis οὐouvvv φραγήσεταιphragēsetaiwill not be silenced εἰςeisof ἐμὲememine ἐνenin τοῖςtoisthe κλίμασιklimasiregions , τῆςtēs- ἈχαΐαςAchaiasof Achaia .
11διατίdiatiwhy ὅτιhotiBecause οὐκoukvvv ἀγαπῶagapōI do not love ὑμᾶςhymasyou ? ho- ΘεὸςTheosGod οἶδενoidenknows [I do] !
12ho- δὲdeBut ποιῶpoiōI am doing , καὶkaivvv ποιήσωpoiēsōI will keep on doing ἵναhinain order ἐκκόψωekkopsōto undercut τὴνtēn- ἀφορμὴνaphormēn- τῶνtōnthose who θελόντωνthelontōnwant ἀφορμήνaphormēnan opportunity ἵναhinato ἐνenin the things καυχῶνταιkauchōntaiof which they boast . εὑρεθῶσιeurethosibe regarded as καθὼςkathōsour equals καὶkai. . . ἡμεῖςhēmeis. . .
13οἱhoi- γὰρgarFor τοιοῦτοιtoioutoisuch men [are] ψευδαπόστολοιpseudapostoloifalse apostles , ἐργάταιergataiworkers , δόλιοιdolioideceitful μετασχηματιζόμενοιmetaschēmatizomenoimasquerading εἰςeisas ἀποστόλουςapostolousapostles ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ .
14καὶkaiAnd οὐouno θαυμαστόνthaumastonremarkable αὐτὸςautoshimself γὰρgarfor ho- ΣατανᾶςSatanasSatan μετασχηματίζεταιmetaschēmatizetaimasquerades εἰςeisas ἄγγελονangelonan angel φωτόςphōtosof light .
15οὐou[It is] not μέγαmegasurprising , οὖνounthen , εἰeiif καὶkai- οἱhoi- διάκονοιdiakonoiservants αὐτοῦautouhis μετασχηματίζονταιmetaschēmatizontaimasquerade ὡςhōsas διάκονοιdiakonoiservants δικαιοσύνηςdikaiosynēsof righteousness . ὧνhōn[Their] τὸto- τέλοςtelosend ἔσταιestaiwill correspond to κατὰkata. . . τὰta- ἔργαergaactions . αὐτῶνautōntheir

18ἐπεὶepeiSince πολλοὶpolloimany καυχῶνταιkauchōntaiare boasting κατὰkataaccording to τὴνtēn- σάρκαsarkaflesh , κἀγὼkagōI too καυχήσομαιkauchēsomaiwill boast .
19ἡδέωςhēdeōs. . . γὰρgarFor ἀνέχεσθεanechestheyou gladly tolerate τῶνtōn- ἀφρόνωνaphronōnfools , φρόνιμοιphronimoiso wise . ὄντεςontessince you are
20ἀνέχεσθεanechestheyou even put up with γὰρgarIn fact , εἴei- τιςtisanyone who ὑμᾶςhymasyou καταδουλοῖkatadouloienslaves εἴei[or] τιςtis. . . κατεσθίειkatesthieiexploits [you] εἴei[or] τιςtis. . . λαμβάνειlambaneitakes advantage [of you] εἴei[or] τιςtis. . . ἐπαίρεταιepairetaiexalts himself εἴei[or] τιςtis. . . ὑμᾶςhymasyou εἰςeisin πρόσωπονprosōponthe face . δέρειdereistrikes
21κατὰkataTo ἀτιμίανatimian[my] shame λέγωlegōI concede ὡςhōs- ὅτιhotithat ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe ἠσθενήσαμεν.esthenesamenwere too weak [for that] ! ἐνenvvv what δ’d’however , ἄνan. . . τιςtisanyone else τολμᾷtolmadares [to boast about] . 23διάκονοιdiakonoiservants ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ ? εἰσι;eisiare παραφρονῶνparaphronōnlike I am out of my mind , λαλῶlalōI am speaking ὑπὲρhyperso much more : ἐγώegō[but] I am ἐνenin κόποιςkopoislabor , περισσοτέρωςperissoterōsharder ἐνenin πληγαῖςplēgaisbeatings , ὑπερβαλλόντωςhyperballontōsworse ἐνenin φυλακαῖςphylakaisimprisonments , περισσοτέρωςperissoterōsmore ἐνenin θανάτοιςthanatoisdanger of death . πολλάκιςpollakisfrequent

25τρὶςtrisThree times ἐραβδίσθηνerabdisthēnI was beaten with rods , ἅπαξhapaxonce ἐλιθάσθηνelithasthēnI was stoned , τρὶςtristhree times ἐναυάγησαenauagēsaI was shipwrecked . νυχθήμερονnychthēmerona night and a day ἐνenin τῷthe βυθῷbythōopen [sea] . πεποίηκαpepoiēkaI spent
26ὁδοιπορίαιςhodoiporiaisIn my frequent journeys πολλάκιςpollakis. . . , κινδύνοιςkindynois[I have been] in danger ποταμῶνpotamōnfrom rivers κινδύνοιςkindynois[and] λῃστῶνlēstōnfrom bandits , κινδύνοιςkindynoisin danger ἐκekfrom [my] γένουςgenouscountrymen κινδύνοιςkindynois[and] ἐξexfrom ἐθνῶνethnōn[the] Gentiles , κινδύνοιςkindynoisin danger ἐνenin πόλειpolei[the] city κινδύνοιςkindynois[and] ἐνenin ἐρημίᾳerēmia[the] country , κινδύνοιςkindynoisin danger ἐνenon θαλάσσῃthalassē[the] sea κινδύνοιςkindynois[and] ἐνenamong ψευδαδέλφοιςpseudadelphoisfalse brothers ,

29τίςtisWho ἀσθενεῖastheneiis weak , καὶkaiand οὐκoukvvv ἀσθενῶasthenōI am not weak ? τίςtisWho σκανδαλίζεταιskandalizetaiis led into sin , καὶkaiand οὐκouk{do} not ἐγὼegōI πυροῦμαιpyroumaiburn with grief ?
30ΕἰEiIf καυχᾶσθαιkauchasthaiboast , δεῖdeiI must τὰta[of] the things τῆςtēs[that show] ἀσθενείαςastheneiasweakness . μουmoumy καυχήσομαιkauchēsomaiI will boast
