1ΤολμᾷTolmahow dare τιςtisa ὑμῶνhymōnof you πρᾶγμαpragmaa grievance ἔχωνechōnhas πρὸςprosagainst τὸνton- ἕτερονheteronanother , κρίνεσθαιkrinesthaihe go to law ἐπὶepibefore τῶνtōnthe ἀδίκωνadikōnunrighteous καὶkai[instead of] οὐχὶouchi. . . ἐπὶepibefore τῶνtōnthe ἁγίωνhagiōnsaints !
2οὐκoukvvv οἴδατεoidateDo you not know ὅτιhotithat οἱhoithe ἅγιοιhagioisaints τὸνtonthe κόσμονkosmonworld ? κρινοῦσι;krinousiwill judge καὶkaiAnd εἰeiif ἐνen- ὑμῖνhyminyou κρίνεταιkrinetaiare to judge ὁhothe κόσμοςkosmosworld , ἀνάξιοίanaxioiare you not competent ἐστεestevvv κριτηρίωνkritēriōncases ? ἐλαχίστωνelachistōn[ to judge ] trivial
3οὐκoukvvv οἴδατεoidateDo you not know ὅτιhotithat ἀγγέλουςangelousangels ? κρινοῦμενkrinoumenwe will judge ΜήτιMētivvv γῇgēsoil βιωτικάbiōtikathe things of this life !
4βιωτικάbiōtikathe things of this life ! μὲνmen- οὖνounSo κριτήριαkritēriato settle ἐὰνeanif ἔχητεechēteyou need τοὺςtous- ἐξουθενημένουςexouthenēmenousof no standing ἐνenin τῇtēthe ἐκκλησίᾳekklēsiachurch ? τούτουςtoutousthose καθίζετεkathizetedo you appoint [as judges]
5πρὸςprosvvv ἐντροπὴνentropēnshame . ὑμῖνhyminto your λέγωlegōI say this οὕτωςhoutōsreally οὐκoukno ἔνιeniIs there ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhyminyou σοφὸςsophoswise [enough] ΟὐδὲOude“ vvv εἰςeis. . . ὃςhos. . . δυνήσεταιdynēsetai. . . διακρῖναιdiakrinaito arbitrate ἀνὰana- μέσονmesonbetween τοῦtou- ἀδελφοῦadelphoubrothers ? αὐτοῦautouhis
6ἀλλὰallaInstead , ἀδελφὸςadelphos[one] brother μετὰmetaagainst ἀδελφοῦadelphou[another] , κρίνεταιkrinetaigoes to law καὶkaiand τοῦτοtoutothis ἐπὶepiin front of ἀπίστωνapistōnunbelievers !
7ἤδηĒdēalready . μὲνmenvvv οὖνoun- ὅλωςholōs{are} thoroughly ἥττημαhēttēmadefeated ὑμῖνhyminyou ἐστινestinmeans [that] ὅτιhotiThe very fact that κρίματαkrimatalawsuits ἔχετεecheteyou have μεθ’meth’among ἑαυτῶνheautōnyou διατίdiatiwhy οὐχὶouchinot μᾶλλονmallonrather ἀδικεῖσθεadikeisthebe wronged ? διατίdiatiwhy οὐχὶouchinot μᾶλλονmallonrather ἀποστερεῖσθεapostereisthebe cheated ?
8ἀλλὰallaInstead , ὑμεῖςhymeisyou yourselves ἀδικεῖτεadikeitedo wrong , καὶkaieven ἀποστερεῖτεapostereitecheat καὶkaiand ταῦτάtautathat [is what] ἀδελφούςadelphousbrothers !
9ἪĒvvv οὐκoukvvv οἴδατεoidateDo you not know ὅτιhotithat ἄδικοιadikoi[the] wicked βασιλείανbasileian[the] kingdom ΘεοῦTheouof God ? οὐouvvv κληρονομήσουσι;kleronomesousiwill inherit μὴmē{Do} not πλανᾶσθεplanasthebe deceived : οὔτεouteNeither πόρνοιpornoithe sexually immoral , οὔτεoutenor εἰδωλολάτραιeidōlolatraiidolaters , οὔτεoutenor μοιχοὶmoichoiadulterers , οὔτεoutenor μαλακοὶmalakoimen who submit to οὔτεouteor ἀρσενοκοῖταιarsenokoitaiperform homosexual acts ,
10οὔτεoutenor πλεονέκταιpleonektaithe greedy , οὔτεoutenor κλέπταιkleptaithieves , οὔτεoutenor μέθυσοιmethysoidrunkards , οὐounor λοίδοροιloidoroiverbal abusers , οὐχouchnor ἅρπαγεςharpagesswindlers , βασιλείανbasileian[the] kingdom ΘεοῦTheouof God . οὐounor κληρονομήσουσι.kleronomesousiwill inherit
11καὶkaiAnd ταῦτάtautathat [is what] τινεςtinessome [of] ἦτεēteyou were . ἀλλὰallaBut ἀπελούσασθεapelousastheyou were washed , ἀλλὰalla- ἡγιάσθητεhēgiasthēteyou were sanctified , ἀλλὰalla- ἐδικαιώθητεedikaiōthēteyou were justified , ἐνenin τῷtōthe ὀνόματιonomatiname τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus καὶkaiand ἐνenby τῷtōthe ΠνεύματιPneumatiSpirit τοῦtouof ΘεοῦTheouGod . ἡμῶνhēmōnour
12ΠάνταPanta“ Everything μοιmoifor me , ” ἔξεστινexestinis permissible ἀλλ’all’but οὐounot πάνταpantaeverything συμφέρειsymphereiis beneficial . ΠάνταPanta“ Everything μοιmoifor me , ” ἔξεστινexestinis permissible ἀλλ’all’but οὐκoukvvv ἐγὼegōI ἐξουσιασθήσομαιexousiasthēsomaiwill not be mastered ὑπόhypoby τινοςtinosanything .
13ΤὰTa“ - βρώματαbrōmataFood τῇtēfor the κοιλίᾳkoiliastomach καὶkaiand ἡhēthe κοιλίαkoiliastomach τοῖςtois- βρώμασινbrōmasinfor food , ” ὁho- δὲdebut ΘεὸςTheosGod καὶkai. . . ταύτηνtautēnthem καὶkai. . . ταῦταtauta. . . καταργήσειkatargēseiwill destroy τὸtoThe δὲde- σῶμαsōmabody [is] οὐounot [intended] τῇtē- πορνείᾳporneiafor sexual immorality , ἀλλὰallabut τῷtōfor the ΚυρίῳKyriōLord , καὶkaiand ὁhothe ΚύριοςKyriosLord τῷtōfor the σώματιsōmatibody .
14ὁhothe δὲde- ΘεὸςTheosGod καὶkai- τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord {from the dead} , ἜγειρεEgeire“ Get up καὶkaiand ἡμᾶςhēmas. . . . ἐξεγερεῖexegereiHe will raise us [also] διὰdiaBy τῆςtēs- δυνάμεωςdynameōspower αὐτοῦautouHis
15ΟὐκOukvvv οἴδατεoidateDo you not know ὅτιhotithat τὰta- σώματαsōmatabodies ὑμῶνhymōnyour μέληmelēmembers ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ ? ἐστινestinare ἄραςarasShall I then take οὖνounvvv τὰtathe μέληmelēmembers τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ ποιήσωpoiēsōand unite [them] πόρνηςpornēswith a prostitute ? μέληmelē. . . μὴmēvvv γένοιτοgenoitoNever !
16ἢēOr οὐκoukvvv οἴδατεoidatedon’t you know ὅτιhotithat ὁhohe who κολλώμενοςkollōmenosunites himself τῇtē- πόρνῃpornēwith a prostitute ἓνhenone [with her] σῶμάsōmain body ? ἐστινestinis ἜσονταιEsontaiwill become γάρgarFor φησίνphēsinit is said , ΟἱHoi“ The δύοdyotwo εἰςeis. . . σάρκαsarkaflesh .” μίανmianone
17ὁhohe who δὲdeBut κολλώμενοςkollōmenosunites himself τῷtōwith the ΚυρίῳKyriōLord ἓνhenone [with Him] πνεῦμάpneuma[in] spirit . ἐστίestiI have
18ΦεύγετεPheugeteFlee from τὴνtēn- πορνείανporneiansexual immorality . πᾶνpanEvery [other] ἁμάρτημαhamartēmasin ὃho- ἐὰνeanvvv ποιήσῃpoiēsēcan commit ἄνθρωποςanthrōposa man ἐκτὸςektosoutside τοῦtou[his] σώματόςsōmatosbody , ἐστινestinis ὃho- δὲdebut πορνεύωνporneuōnsins sexually εἰςeisagainst τὸto[his] ἴδιονidionown σῶμαsōmabody . ἁμαρτάνειhamartaneisins
19ἢē- οὐκoukvvv οἴδατεoidateDo you not know ὅτιhotithat τὸto- σῶμαsōmabody ὑμῶνhymōnyour ναὸςnaos[is] a temple τοῦtouof the ἐνenin ὑμῖνhyminyou , ἉγίουHagiouHoly ΠνεύματόςPneumatosSpirit ἐστινestin[who] is οὗhouwhom ἔχετεecheteyou have [received] ἀπὸapofrom ΘεοῦTheouGod ? καὶkai- οὐκouknot ἐστὲesteYou are ἑαυτῶνheautōnyour own ;
20ἠγοράσθητεēgorasthēteyou were bought γὰρgar- τιμῆςtimēsat a price . δοξάσατεdoxasateglorify δὴdēTherefore τὸνton- ΘεὸνTheonGod ἐνenwith τῷtō- σώματιsōmatibody . ὑμῶνhymōnyour καὶkai- ἐνenin τὸto- ΠνεύματιPneumatiSpirit ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἅτιναhatina- ἐστίestiI have τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod ?
