1ΚἀγὼKagō[When] I ἐλθὼνelthōncame πρὸςprosto ὑμᾶςhymasyou , ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , ἦλθονēlthonI did not come οὐouvvv καθ’kath’with ὑπεροχὴνhyperochēneloquence λόγουlogou. . . ēor σοφίαςsophiaswisdom καταγγέλλωνkatangellōn[as] I proclaimed ὑμῖνhyminto you τὸtothe μαρτύριονmartyriontestimony τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouabout God .
2οὐounothing γὰρgarFor ἔκρινάekrinaI resolved τοῦtou- εἰδέναιeidenaito know τιti. . . ἐνen[while I was] with ὑμῖνhyminyou εἰeiexcept μὴ. . . ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus ΧριστὸνChristonChrist καὶkaiand τοῦτονtoutonHim ἐσταυρωμένονestaurōmenoncrucified .
3καὶkaiand ἐγὼegōI ἐνen[while I was] with ἀσθενείᾳastheneiaweakness καὶkaiand ἐνen- φόβῳphobōfear , καὶkaiand ἐνenwith τρόμῳtromōtrembling . πολλῷpollōmuch ἐγενόμηνegenomēncame πρὸςprosto ὑμᾶςhymasyou
4καὶkaiand ho- λόγοςlogosmessage μουmoumy καὶkaiand τὸto- κήρυγμάkērygmapreaching μουmoumy οὐκouk[were] not ἐνenwith πειθοῖςpeithoispersuasive ἀνθρωπίνηςanthrōpinēsby human σοφίαςsophiaswisdom , λόγοιςlogoiswords ἀλλ’all’but ἐνenin [words] ἀποδείξειapodeixeia demonstration ΠνεύματοςPneumatosof [the] Spirit’s καὶkai- δυνάμεωςdynameōspower ,
5ἵναhinaso that - πίστιςpistisfaith ὑμῶνhymōnyour μὴvvv ēwould not rest ἐνenon σοφίᾳsophiawisdom , ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnmen’s ἀλλ’all’but ἐνenon δυνάμειdynameipower . ΘεοῦTheouGod’s
6ΣοφίανSophianof wisdom — δὲdebut λαλοῦμενlaloumenwe speak a message ἐνenAmong τοῖςtoisthe τελείοιςteleioismature , ΣοφίανSophianof wisdom — δὲdebut οὐounot τοῦtou- αἰῶνοςaiōnosage τούτουtoutouof this οὐδὲoude[or] τῶνtōnof the ἀρχόντωνarchontōnrulers τοῦtou- αἰῶνοςaiōnosage , τούτουtoutouof this τῶνtōnof the καταργουμένωνkatargoumenōnare coming to nothing .
7ἀλλὰallaNo , λαλοῦμενlaloumenwe speak of σοφίανsophianwisdom ΘεοῦTheouof God , ἣνhēnwhich μυστηρίῳmystēriō[the] mysterious τὴνtēn- ἀποκεκρυμμένηνapokekrymmenēn[and] hidden ἣνhēnwhich προώρισενproōrisendestined ho- ΘεὸςTheos[He] πρὸprobefore τῶνtōn- αἰώνωνaiōnōntime [began] . εἰςeisfor δόξανdoxanglory ἡμῶνhēmōnour
8ἣνhēnwhich οὐδεὶςoudeisNone τῶνtōnof the ἀρχόντωνarchontōnrulers τοῦtou- αἰῶνοςaiōnosage τούτουtoutouof this ἔγνωκενegnōkenunderstood εἰeiif γὰρgarFor ἔγνωσανegnōsanthey had , οὐκoukvvv ἂνanvvv τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord τῆςtēs- δόξηςdoxēsof glory . ἐσταύρωσανestaurōsanthey would not have crucified
9ἀλλὰallaRather , καθὼςkathōsas γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written : Ha“ - ὀφθαλμὸςophthalmoseye οὐκoukNo εἶδεeidesaw καὶkai- οὖςousear οὐκoukno ἤκουσεekouseheard καὶkai- ἐπὶepi. . . καρδίανkardianheart ἀνθρώπουanthrōpou. . . , οὐκoukno ἀνέβηanebēhas imagined Ha“ - ἡτοίμασενhētoimasenhas prepared ho- ΘεὸςTheosGod τοῖςtoisfor those who ἀγαπῶσινagapōsinlove αὐτόνautonHim .”
10ἩμῖνHēminto us δὲde- ho- ΘεὸςTheosGod ἀπεκάλυψεapekalupsewas not revealed διὰdiaby τοῦtouthe ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit . αὐτοῦautou[Zechariah’s] ΤὸToThe γὰρgar- ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit πάνταpantaall things , ἐρευνᾷ,ereunasearches καὶkaieven τὰtathe βάθηbathēdeep [ things ] τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God .
11τίςtiswho γὰρgarFor οἶδενoidenknows ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnamong men τὰtathe [thoughts] τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof man εἰeiexcept μὴ. . . τὸtovvv πνεῦμαpneumaspirit τοῦtouvvv ἀνθρώπουanthrōpou[his own] τὸto- ἐνenwithin αὐτῷautōhim ? οὕτωhoutōso καὶkaitoo , τὰtathe [thoughts] τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God οὐδεὶςoudeisno one οἶδενoidenknows εἰeiexcept μὴ. . . τὸtovvv πνεῦμαpneumaspirit τοῦtouvvv ΘεοῦTheouof God .
12ἡμεῖςhēmeisWe δὲde- οὐou. . . τὸtothe πνεῦμαpneumaspirit τοῦtouof the κόσμουkosmouworld , ἐλάβομενelabomenhave not received ἀλλὰallabut τὸtothe πνεῦμαpneumaSpirit τὸtowho [is] ἐκekfrom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod , ἵναhinathat εἰδῶμενeidōmenwe may understand τὰtawhat ὑπὸhypo- τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod χαρισθένταcharisthentahas freely given ἡμῖνhēminus .
13ha[this is] καὶkaiAnd λαλοῦμενlaloumen[what] we speak , οὐκouknot ἐνenin διδακτοῖςdidaktoistaught [us] ἀνθρωπίνηςanthrōpinēsby human σοφίαςsophiaswisdom , λόγοιςlogoiswords ἀλλ’all’but ἐνenin [words] διδακτοῖςdidaktoistaught ΠνεύματοςPneumatosby [the] Spirit , ἉγίουHagiou[with the] Holy πνευματικοῖςpneumatikoisin spiritual [words] . πνευματικὰpneumatikaspiritual truths συγκρίνοντες.sugkrinontesexpressing
14ΨυχικὸςPsychikos[The] natural δὲde- ἄνθρωποςanthrōposman οὐou{does} not δέχεταιdechetaiaccept τὰtathe things that τοῦtoucome from the ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God . μωρίαmōriafoolishness γὰρgarFor αὐτῷautōto him , ἐστίestiI have καὶkaiand οὐouvvv δύναταιdynataihe cannot γνῶναιgnōnaiunderstand [them] , ὅτιhotibecause πνευματικῶςpneumatikōs{they are} spiritually ἀνακρίνεταιanakrinetaidiscerned .
15hoThe δὲde- πνευματικὸςpneumatikosspiritual [man] ἀνακρίνειanakrineijudges μὴνmēnmonth . πάνταpantaall things , αὐτὸςautoshe himself δὲdebut ὑπ’hyp’. . . οὐδενὸςoudenos. . . . ἀνακρίνεταιanakrinetaiis not subject to anyone’s judgment
16ΤίςTiswho γὰρgar“ For ἔγνωegnōhas known νοῦνnoun[the] mind ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord , ὃςhos[so as] συμβιβάσειsymbibaseito instruct αὐτόνautonHim ?” ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe δὲdeBut νοῦνnoun[the] mind ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ . ἔχομενechomenhave
