1ΚαὶKaiThen εἶδονeidonI watched ὅτιhotiFor ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τὸto- ἈρνίονArnionLamb μίανmianone ἐκekof τῶνtōnthe ἑπτὰheptaseven σφραγίδωνsphragidōnseals , καὶkaiand ἤκουσαēkousaI heard ἑνὸςhenosone ἐκekof τῶνtōnthe τεσσάρωνtessarōnfour ζῴωνzōōnliving creatures λέγοντοςlegontossay ὡςhōsin φωνῇphōnēvoice , βροντῆςbrontēsa thunderous ἜρχουErchou“ Come ! ”
2ΚαὶKai[So] εἶδονeidonI looked καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidousaw ἵπποςhipposhorse , λευκόςleukosa white καὶkaiand ὁhoits rider καθήμενοςkathēmenos. . . ἐπ’ep’. . . αὐτὸνauton. . . ἔχωνechōnheld τόξονtoxona bow . καὶkaiAnd ἐδόθηedothēwas given αὐτῷautōhe στέφανοςstephanosa crown , καὶkaiand ἜξελθεExelthe‘ Go out νικῶνnikōnto overcome καὶkaiand ἵναhina- νικήσῃnikēsēconquer .
3ΚαὶKaiAnd ὅτεhotewhen ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τὴνtēnthe σφραγῖδαsphragidaseal , τὴνtēn- δευτέρανdeuteransecond ἤκουσαēkousaI heard τοῦtouthe δευτέρουdeuterousecond ζῴουzōouliving creature λέγοντοςlegontossay , ἜρχουErchou“ Come ! ”
4ΚαὶKaiThen ἐξῆλθενexēlthenwent forth . ἄλλοςallosanother ἵπποςhipposhorse πυρρόςpyrros[It was] bright red , καὶkaiand τῷtōits rider καθημένῳkathēmenō. . . ἐπ’ep’. . . αὐτὸνauton. . . ἐδόθηedothēwas granted permission αὐτῷautō- λαβεῖνlabeinto take away τὴνtēn- εἰρήνηνeirēnēnpeace ἐκekfrom τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth καὶkaiand ἵναhina- ἀλλήλουςallēlousone another . σφάξωσι,sphaxosito make [men] slay καὶkaiAnd ἐδόθηedothēwas given αὐτῷautōhe μάχαιραmachairasword . μεγάληmegalēa great
5ΚαὶKaiAnd ὅτεhotewhen ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τὴνtēnthe σφραγῖδαsphragidaseal , τὴνtēn- τρίτηνtritēnthird ἤκουσαēkousaI heard τοῦtouthe τρίτουtritouthird ζῴουzōouliving creature λέγοντοςlegontossay , ἜρχουErchou“ Come ! ” ΚαὶKaiThen εἶδονeidonI looked καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidousaw ἵπποςhipposhorse , μέλαςmelasa black καὶkaiand ὁhoits rider καθήμενοςkathēmenos. . . ἐπ’ep’. . . αὐτὸνauton. . . ἔχωνechōnheld ζυγὸνzygona pair of scales . ἐνenin τῇtē- χειρὶcheirihand αὐτοῦautouhis
6καὶkaiAnd ἤκουσαēkousaI heard ὡςhōs[ what sounded ] like φωνὴνphōnēna voice ἐνenvvv μέσῳmesōfrom among τῶνtōnthe τεσσάρωνtessarōnfour ζῴωνzōōnliving creatures , λέγουσανlegousansaying , ΧοῖνιξChoinix“ A quart σίτουsitouof wheat δηναρίουdēnarioufor a denarius , καὶkaiand τρεῖςtreisthree χοίνικεςchoinikesquarts κριθῆςkrithesof barley δηναρίουdēnarioufor a denarius , καὶkaiand τὸtothe ἔλαιονelaionoil καὶkaiand τὸνton- οἶνονoinonwine . ” μὴmēvvv ἀδικήσῃςadikēsēsdo not harm
7καὶkaiand ὅτεhotewhen ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τὴνtēnthe σφραγῖδαsphragidaseal , τὴνtēn- τετάρτηνtetartēnfourth ἤκουσαēkousaI heard φωνὴνphōnēn[the] voice τοῦtouof the τετάρτουtetartoufourth ζῴουzōouliving creature λέγοντοςlegontossay , ἜρχουErchou“ Come ! ”
8ΚαὶKaiThen εἶδονeidonI looked καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidousaw ἵπποςhipposhorse . χλωρόςchlōrosa pale green καὶkai- ὁhoIts rider’s καθήμενοςkathēmenos. . . ἐπάνωepanō. . . αὐτοῦautou. . . ὄνομαonomaname αὐτῷautō- ὉHO- ΘάνατοςThanatos[was] Death , καὶkaiand ὁho- ᾅδηςhadēsHades ἠκολούθειēkoloutheifollowed μετ’met’close behind αὐτοῦautou. . . . καὶkaiAnd ἐδόθηedothēwere given αὐτῷautō- ἐξουσίαexousiaauthority ἐπὶepiover τὸto- τέταρτονtetartona fourth τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth , ἀποκτεῖναιapokteinaito kill ἐνenby ῥομφαίᾳrhomphaiasword , καὶkai- ἐνenby λιμῷlimōfamine , καὶkai- ἐνenby θανάτῳthanatōplague , καὶkaiand ὑπὸhypo- τῶνtōnby the θηρίωνthēriōnbeasts τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth .
9ΚαὶKaiAnd ὅτεhotewhen ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τὴνtēnthe πέμπτηνpemptēnfifth σφραγῖδαsphragidaseal , εἶδονeidonI saw ὑποκάτωhypokatōunder τοῦtouthe θυσιαστηρίουthysiastērioualtar τὰςtasthe ψυχὰςpsychassouls τῶνtōnof those who ἐσφαγμένωνesphagmenōnhad been slain διὰdiafor τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God καὶkaiand διὰdiafor τὴνtēnthe μαρτυρίανmartyriantestimony τοῦtou- ἈρνίουArniouLamb . ἣνhēn- εἶχονeichonthey had upheld .
10καὶkaiAnd ἔκραξανekraxanthey cried out φωνῇphōnēin a loud voice μεγάλῃmegalēvvv λέγοντεςlegontes- , ἝωςHeōsuntil πότεpote“ How long , ὁhoO ΔεσπότηςDespotēsLord , ὁho- ἅγιοςhagiosholy καὶkaiand ὁho- ἀληθινόςalēthinostrue , οὐou- κρίνειςkrineisjudge καὶkaiand ἐκδικεῖςekdikeisYou avenge τὸto- αἷμαhaimablood ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἐκek- τῶνtōnthose who κατοικούντωνkatoikountōndwell ἐπὶepiupon τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsearth ? ”
11ΚαὶKaiThen ἐδόθηedothēwas given αὐτοῖςautoisof them ἑκάστῳhekastōeach στολὴstolērobe λευκήleukēa white καὶkaiand ἐρρέθηerrethētold αὐτοῖςautois- ἵναhinato ἀναπαύσονταιanapausontairest ἔτιetilonger , χρόνονchrononwhile μικρόνmikrona little ἕωςheōsuntil πληρώσωσιplerososiare fulfilled . καὶkai. . . οἱhoi- σύνδουλοιsyndouloifellow servants , αὐτῶνautōntheir καὶkai- οἱhoi- ἀδελφοὶadelphoibrothers , αὐτῶνautōntheir οἱhoi- μέλλοντεςmellonteswere ἀποκτέννεσθαιapoktennesthaikilled , ὡςhōsjust as καὶkai[had been killed] . αὐτοίautoithey
12καὶkai[had been killed] . εἶδονeidonI saw ὅτεhotewhen ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τὴνtēnthe σφραγῖδαsphragidaseal , τὴνtēn- ἕκτηνhektēnsixth καὶkai- σεισμὸςseismosearthquake , μέγαςmegasa great ἐγένετοegenetothere was καὶkai- ὁhothe ἥλιοςhēliossun μέλαςmelasblack ἐγένετοegenetobecame ὡςhōslike σάκκοςsakkossackcloth τρίχινοςtrichinos[of goat] hair , καὶkaiand ἡhēthe σελήνηselēnēmoon ὅληholēwhole ἐγένετοegenetoturned ὡςhōs- αἷμαhaimablood red ,
13καὶkaiand οἱhoithe ἀστέρεςasteresstars τοῦtouof οὐρανοῦouranou[the] sky ἔπεσανepesanfell εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe γῆνgēnearth ὡςhōslike συκῆsykēa tree βάλλουσαballousaput τοὺςtous- ὀλύνθουςolynthousunripe figs αὐτῆςautēs- ὑπὸhypoby ἀνέμουanemouwind . μεγάλουmegaloua great σειομένηseiomenēshaken
14καὶkai- ὁhoThe οὐρανὸςouranossky ἀπεχωρίσθηapechōristhēreceded ὡςhōslike βιβλίονbibliona scroll ἑλισσόμενονhelissomenonbeing rolled up , καὶkaiand πᾶνpanevery ὄροςorosmountain καὶkaiand νῆσοςnēsosisland ἐκekfrom τῶνtōn- τόπωνtopōnplace . αὐτῶνautōnits ἐκινήθησανekinēthēsanwas moved
15καὶkaiand οἱhoithe βασιλεῖςbasileiskings τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth , καὶkai- οἱhoithe μεγιστᾶνεςmegistanesnobles , καὶkai- οἱhoithe χιλίαρχοιchiliarchoicommanders , καὶkai- οἱhoithe πλούσιοιplousioirich , καὶkai- οἱhoithe ἰσχυροὶischyroimighty , καὶkaiand πᾶςpasevery δοῦλοςdoulosslave καὶkaiand ἐλεύθεροςeleutherosfree [man] ἔκρυψανekrypsanhid ἑαυτοὺςheautous- εἰςeisin τὰtathe σπήλαιαspēlaiacaves καὶkaiand εἰςeisamong τὰςtasthe πέτραςpetrasrocks τῶνtōnof the ὀρέωνoreōnmountains .
16καὶkaiAnd λέγουσιlegousisay τοῖςtoisto the ὄρεσιoresimountains , καὶkaiand ταῖςtaisthe πέτραιςpetraisrocks , Πέσατεpesateyou will not fall ἐφ’eph’on ἡμᾶςhēmasus καὶkaiand κρύψατεkrypsatehide ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἀπὸapofrom προσώπουprosōpou[the] face τοῦtouof the [One] καθημένουkathēmenouseated ἐπὶepion τοῦtouthe θρόνουthronouthrone , καὶkaiand ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēsthe ὀργῆςorgēswrath τοῦtouof the ἈρνίουArniouLamb .
17ὅτιhotiFor ἦλθενēlthenhas come , ἡhē- ἡμέραhēmeraday ἡhē- μεγάληmegalēgreat τῆςtēsof ὀργῆςorgēswrath αὐτοῦautou. . . . καὶkaiAnd τίςtiswho δύναταιdynataiis able σταθῆναιstathēnaito withstand [it] ? ”
