6μελλήσετεmellēseteYou will δὲde- ἀκούεινakoueinhear of πολέμουςpolemouswars καὶkaiand ἀκοὰςakoasrumors πολέμωνpolemōnof wars , ὁρᾶτεhoratebut see to it μὴvvv θροεῖσθεthroeisthethat you are not alarmed . δεῖdeimust γὰρgar[These things] πάνταpantaAll γενέσθαιgenesthaihappen , ἀλλ’all’but οὔπωoupōstill to come . ἐστὶestiis τὸtothe τέλοςtelosend
7ἐγερθήσεταιegerthēsetaiwill rise γὰρgar- ἔθνοςethnosNation ἐπὶepiagainst ἔθνοςethnosnation , καὶkaiand βασιλείαbasileiakingdom ἐπὶepiagainst βασιλείανbasileiankingdom . καὶkai- ἔσονταιesontaiThere will be λιμοὶlimoifamines καὶkaiand σεισμοὶseismoiearthquakes κατὰkatain τόπουςtopous[various] places .
8πάνταpantaAll δὲde- ταῦταtautathese [are] ἀρχὴarchē[the] beginning ὠδίνωνōdinōnof birth pains .
9ΤότεToteThen παραδώσουσινparadōsousinthey will deliver ὑμᾶςhymasyou εἰςeisover to θλῖψινthlipsinbe persecuted καὶkaiand ἀποκτενοῦσινapoktenousinkilled ὑμᾶςhymas. . . , καὶkaiand ἔσεσθεesestheyou will be μισούμενοιmisoumenoihated ὑπὸhypoby πάντωνpantōnall τῶνtōn- ἐθνῶνethnōnnations διὰdiabecause of τὸto- ὄνομάonomaname . μουmouMy
10καὶkai- τότεtoteAt that time σκανδαλισθήσονταιskandalisthēsontaiwill fall away πολλοὶpolloimany καὶkaiand ἀλλήλουςallēlous- παραδώσουσιparadosousithey will deliver καὶkaiand μισήσουσινmisēsousinhate ἀλλήλουςallēlousone another ,
11καὶkaiand πολλοὶpolloimany ψευδοπροφῆταιpseudoprophētaifalse prophets ἐγερθήσονταιegerthēsontaiwill arise καὶkaiand πλανήσουσιplanesousiwill deceive many πολλούςpollousmany .
12ΚαὶKai- διὰdiaBecause of τὸto- πληθυνθῆναιplēthynthēnaithe multiplication τὴνtēn- ἀνομίανanomianof wickedness , ψυγήσεταιpsygēsetaiwill grow cold . the ἀγάπηagapēlove τῶνtōnof πολλῶνpollōnmost
13hothe [one who] δὲdeBut ὑπομείναςhypomeinasperseveres εἰςeisto τέλοςtelos[the] end οὗτοςhoutos- σωθήσεταιsōthēsetaiwill be saved .
14ΚαὶKaiAnd κηρυχθήσεταιkērychthēsetaiwill be preached τοῦτοtoutothis τὸto- εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel τῆςtēsof the βασιλείαςbasileiaskingdom ἐνenin ὅλῃholēall τῇthe οἰκουμένῃoikoumenēworld εἰςeisas μαρτύριονmartyriona testimony πᾶσινpasinto all τοῖςtois- ἔθνεσι,ethnesiGentiles καὶkaiand τότεtotethen ἥξειhēxeiwill come . τὸtothe τέλοςtelosend
15ὍτανHotanwhen οὖνounSo ἴδητεidēteyou see ΤὸTo‘ the βδέλυγμαbdelygmaabomination τῆςtēs- ἐρημώσεωςerēmōseōsof desolation ,’ τὸto- ῥηθὲνrhēthendescribed διὰdiaby ΔανιὴλDaniēlDaniel τοῦtouthe προφήτουprophētouprophet ἑστὸςhestosstanding ἐνenin τόπῳtopōplace ἁγίῳhagiō[the] holy ho({let} the ἀναγινώσκωνanaginōskōnreader νοείτωnoeitōunderstand) ,
16τότεtotethen {let} οἱhoithose who are ἐνenin τῇ- ἸουδαίᾳIoudaiaJudea φευγέτωσανpheugetōsanflee ἐπὶepion τὰtathe ὄρηorēmountains .
17ho[Let no one] ἐπὶepion τοῦtouthe δώματοςdōmatoshousetop μὴ- καταβαινέτωkatabainetocome down ἆραιaraito retrieve τὰtaanything ἐκekfrom τῆςtēs- οἰκίαςoikiashouse . αὐτοῦautouhis
18καὶkaiAnd ho[let no one] ἐνenin τῷthe ἀγρῷagrōfield μὴ- ἐπιστρεψάτωepistrepsatōreturn ὀπίσωopisō. . . ἆραιaraifor τὰtaanything ἱμάτιαhimatiagarments αὐτοῦautouhis
19ΟὐαὶOuaimiserable δὲdeHow ταῖςtais- ἐνen- γαστρὶgastri. . . ἐχούσαιςechousaispregnant καὶkaiand ταῖςtais- θηλαζούσαιςthēlazousaisnursing [mothers] ! ἐνen. . . ἐκείναιςekeinaisthose ταῖςtais- ἡμέραιςhēmeraisdays [will be]
20προσεύχεσθεproseuchesthePray δὲde- ἵναhinathat μὴvvv γένηταιgenētaiwill not occur - φυγὴphygēflight ὑμῶνhymōnyour χειμῶνοςcheimōnosin the winter μηδὲmēde[or] σαββάτῳsabbatōon the Sabbath .
21ἔσταιestaithere will be γὰρgarFor τότεtoteat that time θλῖψιςthlipsistribulation , μεγάληmegalēgreat οἵαhoiaunmatched οὐou. . . γέγονενgegonen. . . ἀπ’ap’from ἀρχῆςarchēs[the] beginning κόσμουkosmouof [the] world ἕωςheōsuntil τοῦtou- νῦνnynnow , οὐδ’oud’[and] οὐounever μὴvvv γένηταιgenētaito be [seen again] .
22καὶkai- εἰeiIf μὴ. . . ἐκολοβώθησανekolobōthēsanhad not been cut short , αἱhai- ἡμέραιhēmeraidays ἐκεῖναιekeinaithose οὐκouk. . . ἂνanvvv ἐσώθηesōthēwould be saved . πᾶσαpasanobody σάρξsarx. . . διὰdiafor the sake of δὲdeBut τοὺςtousthe ἐκλεκτοὺςeklektouselect , κολοβωθήσονταιkolobōthēsontaiwill be cut short . αἱhai- ἡμέραιhēmeraidays ἐκεῖναιekeinaithose
23ΤότεToteAt that time , ἐάνeanif τιςtisanyone ὑμῖνhyminto you , εἴπῃeipēsays ἸδοὺIdou‘ Look , ὧδεhōdehere [is] hothe ΧριστόςChristosChrist ! ’ ēor ὯδεHōde‘ There [He is] ! ’ μὴ{do} not πιστεύσητεpisteusētebelieve [it] .
24ἐγερθήσονταιegerthēsontaiwill appear γὰρgarFor ψευδόχριστοιpseudochristoifalse Christs καὶkaiand ψευδοπροφῆταιpseudoprophētaifalse prophets καὶkaiand δώσουσιdosousiwill be poured σημεῖαsēmeiasigns μεγάλαmegalagreat καὶkaiand τέραταteratawonders ὥστεhōstethat πλανῆσαιplanēsaiwould deceive εἰeiif δυνατὸνdynatonthat were possible . καὶkaieven τοὺςtousthe ἐκλεκτούςeklektouselect ,
25ἰδοὺidouSee , προείρηκαproeirēkaI have told you in advance ὑμῖνhymin. . . .
26ἘὰνEanif οὖνounSo εἴπωσινeipōsinthey tell ὑμῖνhyminyou , ἸδοὺIdou‘ There ἐνenin τῇthe ἐρήμῳerēmōwilderness , ’ ἐστί,estiis μὴ{do} not ἐξέλθητεexelthētego out ; ἸδοὺIdou[or], ‘Here ἐνen[He is] in τοῖςtoisthe ταμείοιςtameioisinner rooms ,’ μὴ{do} not πιστεύσητεpisteusētebelieve [it] .
27ὥσπερhōsperjust as γὰρgarFor the ἀστραπὴastrapēlightning ἐξέρχεταιexerchetaicomes ἀπὸapofrom ἀνατολῶνanatolōn[the] east καὶkaiand φαίνεταιphainetaiflashes ἕωςheōsas far as δυσμῶνdysmōn[the] west , οὕτωςhoutōsso ἔσταιestaiwill be καὶkaiand the παρουσίαparousiacoming τοῦtouof the ΥἱοῦHuiouSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man .
28ὅπουhopouWherever γὰρgarFor ἘὰνEanif the τὸto- πτῶμαptōmaa carcass , ἐκεῖekeithere συναχθήσονταιsynachthēsontaiwill gather . οἱhoithe ἀετοίaetoivultures
29ΕὐθέωςEutheōsImmediately δὲde- μετὰmetaafter τὴνtēnthe θλῖψινthlipsintribulation τῶνtōn- ἡμερῶνhēmerōndays : ἐκείνωνekeinōnof those Ho‘ The ἥλιοςhēliossun σκοτισθήσεταιskotisthēsetaiwill be darkened , ΚαὶKaiand the σελήνηselēnēmoon οὐouvvv δώσειdōseiwill not give τὸto- φέγγοςphengoslight ; αὐτῆςautēsits ΚαὶKai- οἱhoithe ἀστέρεςasteresstars πεσοῦνταιpesountaiwill fall ἀπὸapofrom τοῦtouthe οὐρανοῦouranousky , ΚαὶKaiand αἱhaithe δυνάμειςdynameispowers τῶνtōnof the οὐρανῶνouranōnheavens σαλευθήσονταιsaleuthēsontaiwill be shaken . ’
30ΚαὶKaivvv τότεtoteAt that time φανήσεταιphanēsetaiwill appear ‹τῷ›- σημεῖονsēmeionsign τοῦtouof the ΥἱοῦHuiouSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἐνenin ‹τῷ›- οὐρανῷouranōheaven , καὶkaiand τότεtote. . . κόψονταιkopsontaiwill mourn . πᾶσαιpasaiall αἱhaithe φυλαὶphylaitribes τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth καὶkai- ὄψονταιopsontaiThey will see τὸνtonthe ΥἱὸνHuionSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἐρχόμενονerchomenoncoming ἐπὶepion τῶνtōnthe νεφελῶνnephelōnclouds τοῦtou- οὐρανοῦouranouof heaven , μετὰmetawith δυνάμεωςdynameōspower καὶkaiand δόξηςdoxēsglory . πολλῆςpollēsgreat
31καὶkaiand ἀποστελεῖaposteleiHe will send out τοὺςtous- ἀγγέλουςangelousangels αὐτοῦautouHis μετὰmetawith σάλπιγγοςsalpingostrumpet call , φωνῆςphōnēsvoice . μεγάληςmegalēsa loud καὶkaiand ἐπισυνάξουσιepisunaxousithey will gather τοὺςtous- ἐκλεκτοὺςeklektouselect αὐτοῦautouHis ἐκekfrom τῶνtōnthe τεσσάρωνtessarōnfour ἀνέμωνanemōnwinds , ἀπ’ap’from ἄκρωνakrōnone end οὐρανῶνouranōnof the heavens ἕωςheōsto ἄκρωνakrōnone end αὐτῶνautōn-
32ἈπὸApofrom δὲdeNow τῆςtēsthe συκῆςsykēsfig tree : μάθετεmathetelearn τὴνtēnthis παραβολήνparabolēnlesson ὅτανhotanAs soon as ἤδηēdē. . . ho- κλάδοςkladosbranches αὐτῆςautēsits γένηταιgenētaibecome ἁπαλὸςhapalostender καὶkaiand τὰta- φύλλαphyllaleaves , ἐκφύῃekphyēsprout γινώσκετεginōsketeyou know ὅτιhotithat ἐγγὺςengys[is] near . τὸto- θέροςtherossummer
33οὕτωouto[this] καὶkaialso , ὑμεῖςhymeisyou ὅτανhotanwhen ἴδητεidēteyou see ταῦταtautathese things , πάνταpantaall γινώσκετεginōsketewill know ὅτιhotithat ἐγγύςengysnear , ἐστινestinHe is ἐπὶepiright at θύραιςthyrais[the] door .
34ἀμὴνamēnTruly λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou οὐou{will} not μὴ. . . παρέλθῃparelthēpass away - γενεὰgeneageneration αὕτηhautēthis ἕωςheōsuntil ἂνan. . . πάνταpantaall ταῦταtautathese things γένηταιgenētaihave happened .
35ho- οὐρανὸςouranosHeaven καὶkaiand - γῆearth παρελεύσονταιpareleusontaiwill pass away , οἱhoi- δὲdebut λόγοιlogoiwords μουmouMy οὐou{will} never μὴ. . . παρέλθωσι.parelthosipass away .
36ΠερὶPeriabout δὲde- τῆςtēs- ἡμέραςhēmerasday ἐκείνηςekeinēsthat καὶkai[or] ὥραςhōrashour , οὐδεὶςoudeisNo one οἶδενoidenknows οὐδὲoudenot even οἱhoithe ἄγγελοιangeloiangels τῶνtōn- οὐρανῶνouranōnin heaven , εἰeibut μὴ. . . hothe ΠατὴρPatērFather . μουmouMy μόνοςmonosonly
37ὥσπερhōsperAs [it was] δὲde- αἱhaiin the ἡμέραιhēmeraidays τοῦtouof ΝῶεNōeNoah , οὕτωςhoutōsso ἔσταιestaiwill it be καὶkaiand at the παρουσίαparousiacoming τοῦtouof the ΥἱοῦHuiouSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man .
38ὥσπερhōsperAs [it was] γὰρgar- ἦσανēsan[people] were ἐνenin ταῖςtaisthe ἡμέραιςhēmeraisdays ταῖςtaisthe πρὸprobefore τοῦtouthe κατακλυσμοῦkataklysmouflood , τρώγοντεςtrōgonteseating καὶkaiand πίνοντεςpinontesdrinking , γαμοῦντεςgamountesmarrying καὶkaiand ἐκγαμίζοντες,ekgamizontesgiving in marriage , ἄχριachriup to ἧςhēsthe ἡμέραςhēmerasday εἰσέλθῃeiselthēwill never enter ΝῶεNōeNoah εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēnthe κιβωτόνkibōtonark .
39καὶkaiAnd οὐκoukvvv ἔγνωσανegnōsanthey were oblivious , ἕωςheōsuntil ἦλθενēlthencame hothe κατακλυσμὸςkataklysmosflood καὶkaiand ἦρενērenswept them all away ἅπανταςhapantas. . . . οὕτωςhoutōsSo ἔσταιestaiwill it be καὶkai- [at] the παρουσίαparousiacoming τοῦtouof the ΥἱοῦHuiouSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man .
40τότεtote- δύοdyoTwo [men] ἔσονταιesontaiwill be ἐνenin τῷthe ἀγρῷagrōfield : hothe εἰςeis. . . παραλαμβάνεταιparalambanetaiwill be taken καὶkaiand ho- εἷςheis[the other] ἀφίεταιaphietaileft .
41δύοdyoTwo [women] ἀλήθουσαιalēthousaiwill be grinding ἐνenat τῷthe μυλῶνι,mulonimill : μίαmiaone παραλαμβάνεταιparalambanetaiwill be taken καὶkaiand μίαmia[the other] ἀφίεταιaphietaileft .
42ΓρηγορεῖτεGrēgoreitekeep watch , οὖνounTherefore ὅτιhotibecause οὐκoukvvv οἴδατεoidateyou do not know ποίᾳpoiaon which ὥρᾳhōrahour hothe κύριοςkyriosmaster ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἔρχεταιerchetaiwill come .
43ἐκεῖνοekeinothis : δὲdeBut γινώσκετεginōsketeunderstand ὅτιhoti- εἰeiIf ᾔδειēdeihad known hothe οἰκοδεσπότηςoikodespotēshomeowner ποίᾳpoiain which φυλακῇphylakēwatch of the night hothe κλέπτηςkleptēsthief ἔρχεταιerchetaiwas coming , ἐγρηγόρησενegrēgorēsenhe would have kept watch ἂνanvvv καὶkaiand οὐκouk{would} not ἂνanvvv εἴασεeiasehave let διορυγῆναιdiorugenaibe broken into . τὴνtēn- οἰκίανoikianhouse αὐτοῦautouhis
44διὰdiaFor this reason τοῦτοtouto. . . , καὶkaialso ὑμεῖςhymeisyou γίνεσθεginesthemust be ἕτοιμοιhetoimoiready , ὅτιhotibecause at an ὥρᾳhōrahour οὐouvvv δοκεῖτεdokeiteyou do not expect . hothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἔρχεταιerchetaiwill come
45ΤίςTisWho ἄραarathen ἐστὶνestinis hothe πιστὸςpistosfaithful δοῦλοςdoulosservant , καὶkaiand φρόνιμοςphronimoswise ὃνhonwhom κατέστησενkatestēsenhas put in charge hothe κύριοςkyriosmaster αὐτοῦautouhis ἐπὶepiof τῆςtēs- θεραπείαςtherapeiashealing . αὐτοῦautouhis τοῦtou- διδόναιdidonaito give [them] αὐτοῖςautois[the others] τὴνtēn[their] τροφὴνtrophēnfood ἐνenat καιρῷkairōthe proper time ?
46μακάριοςmakariosBlessed [is] ho- δοῦλοςdoulosservant ἐκεῖνοςekeinosthat ὃνhonwhose ἐλθὼνelthōnwhen he returns . ho- κύριοςkyriosmaster αὐτοῦautou. . . εὑρήσειheurēseifinds ποιοῦνταpoiountahim doing οὕτωςhoutōsso
47ἀμὴνamēnTruly λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhoti- , ἐπὶepiof πᾶσιpasiall τοῖςtois- ὑπάρχουσινhyparchousinpossessions . αὐτοῦautouhis καταστήσειkatastēseihe will put him in charge αὐτόνauton. . .
48ἘὰνEansuppose δὲdeBut εἴπῃeipē[and] says ho- κακὸςkakos[is] wicked δοῦλοςdoulosservant ἐκεῖνοςekeinosthat ἐνenin τῇ- καρδίᾳkardiaheart , αὐτοῦautouhis ΧρονίζειChronizeiwill be away a long time . ’ ho- κύριοςkyriosmaster μουmou‘ My ἐλθεῖνeltheinto come
49καὶkaiAnd ἄρξηταιarxētaihe begins τύπτεινtypteinto beat τοὺςtous- συνδούλουςsyndoulousfellow servants αὐτοῦautouhis ἐσθίῃesthiēto eat δὲdeand καὶkaiand πίνῃpinēdrink μετὰmetawith τῶνtōn- μεθυόντωνmethyontōndrunkards .
50ἥξειhēxeiwill come hoThe κύριοςkyriosmaster τοῦtou- δούλουdoulouservant ἐκείνουekeinouof that ἐνenon ἡμέρᾳhēmeraa day vvv οὐouvvv προσδοκᾷprosdokahe does not expect καὶkaiand ἐνenat ὥρᾳhōraan hour vvv οὐouvvv γινώσκειginōskeihe does not anticipate .
51καὶkaiThen διχοτομήσειdichotomēseihe will cut him to pieces αὐτὸνauton. . . καὶkaiand τὸto- μέροςmerosa place αὐτοῦautouhim μετὰmetawith τῶνtōnthe ὑποκριτῶνhypokritōnhypocrites , θήσειthēseiassign ἐκεῖekei[where] there ἔσταιestaiwill be ho- κλαυθμὸςklauthmosweeping καὶkaiand ho- βρυγμὸςbrygmosgnashing τῶνtōnof ὀδόντωνodontōnteeth .
