1ΣὺSy[as for] you , δὲde- λάλειlaleispeak ἃhathe things that πρέπειprepeiare consistent with τῇtē- ὑγιαινούσῃhygiainousēsound διδασκαλίᾳdidaskaliadoctrine .
2ΠρεσβύταςPresbytasOlder [men] νηφαλίουςnēphalioustemperate , εἶναιeinaiare to be σεμνούςsemnousdignified , σώφροναςsōphronasself-controlled , ὑγιαίνονταςhygiainontas[and] sound τῇtē- πίστειpisteiin faith , τῇtē- ἀγάπῃagapēlove , τῇtēand ὑπομονῇhypomonēperseverance .
3πρεσβύτιδαςpresbytidasOlder [women] , ὡσαύτωςhōsautōslikewise , ἐνenin καταστήματιkatastēmati[their] behavior , ἱεροπρεπεῖςhieroprepeisare to be reverent μὴmēnot διαβόλουςdiabolousslanderers μὴmēnot οἴνῳoinōwine , πολλῷpollōto much δεδουλωμέναςdedoulōmenasaddicted καλοδιδασκάλουςkalodidaskalous[but] teachers of good .
4ἵναhinaIn this way σωφρονίζωσιsophronizosithey can train τὰςtasthe νέαςneasyoung [women] φιλάνδρουςphilandrouslove [their] husbands εἶναιeinaito φιλοτέκνουςphiloteknous[and] children ,
5σώφροναςsōphronas[to be] self-controlled , ἁγνάςhagnaspure , οἰκουρούς,oikourousmanagers of their households , ἀγαθάςagathaskind , ὑποτασσομέναςhypotassomenas[and] submissive τοῖςtoisto [their] ἰδίοιςidioisown ἀνδράσινandrasinhusbands , ἵναhinaso that μὴmēvvv ὁhothe λόγοςlogosword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God βλασφημῆταιblasphēmētaiwill not be discredited .
6ΤοὺςTousthe νεωτέρουςneōterousyounger [men] ὡσαύτωςhōsautōsIn the same way , παρακάλειparakaleiurge σωφρονεῖνsōphroneinto be self-controlled .
7ΠερὶPeriIn πάνταpantaeverything , σεαυτὸνseautonyourself παρεχόμενοςparechomenosshow τύπονtypon{to be} an example καλῶνkalōn[by doing] good ἔργωνergōnworks . ἐνenIn τῇtē[your] διδασκαλίᾳdidaskaliateaching ἀδιαφθορίαν,adiaphthorian[show] integrity , σεμνότηταsemnotētadignity , ἀφθαρσίανaphtharsianimmortality ,
8λόγονlogonspeech ὑγιῆhygiē[and] wholesome ἀκατάγνωστονakatagnōston[that is] above reproach , ἵναhinaso that ὁhoanyone ἐξexwho ἐναντίαςenantiasopposes [us] ἐντραπῇentrapēwill be ashamed μηδὲνmēdennothing ἔχωνechōnto have περὶperiabout ἡμῶνhēmōnus . λέγεινlegeinto say φαῦλονphaulonbad
9ΔούλουςDoulousSlaves ἰδίοιςidioisto their own δεσπόταιςdespotaismasters ὑποτάσσεσθαιhypotassesthaiare to submit ἐνenin πᾶσινpasineverything , εὐαρέστουςeuarestouswell-pleasing , εἶναιeinaito be μὴmēnot ἀντιλέγονταςantilegontasargumentative ,
10μὴmēnot νοσφιζομένουςnosphizomenousstealing [from them] , ἀλλὰallabut πίστινpistinfaith , πᾶσανpasanall ἐνδεικνυμένουςendeiknymenousshowing ἀγαθήνagathēngood ἵναhinaso that τὴνtēnthe διδασκαλίανdidaskalianteaching τοῦtou- ΣωτῆροςSōtērosSavior . ἡμῶνhēmōnour ΘεοῦTheouGod κοσμῶσινkosmōsinthey will adorn ἐνenin πᾶσινpasinevery respect
11ἘπεφάνηEpephanēhas appeared , γὰρgarFor ἡhēthe χάριςcharisgrace τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God ἡhēthe σωτήριοςsōtēriosbringing salvation πᾶσινpasinto everyone ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpois. . . .
12παιδεύουσαpaideuousaIt instructs ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἵναhinato ἀρνησάμενοιarnēsamenoirenounce τὴνtēn- ἀσέβειανasebeianungodliness καὶkaiand τὰςtas- κοσμικὰςkosmikasworldly ἐπιθυμίαςepithymiaspassions , σωφρόνωςsōphronōssensible , καὶkai- δικαίωςdikaiōsupright , καὶkaiand εὐσεβῶςeusebōsgodly [lives] ζήσωμενzēsōmen[and] to live ἐνenin τῷtōthe νῦνnynpresent αἰῶνιaiōniage ,
13προσδεχόμενοιprosdechomenoias we await τὴνtēnthe μακαρίανmakarianblessed ἐλπίδαelpidahope καὶkaiand ἐπιφάνειανepiphaneianappearance τῆςtēs- δόξηςdoxēsglorious τοῦtouof μεγάλουmegalougreat ΘεοῦTheouGod καὶkaiand ΣωτῆροςSōtērosSavior ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist .
14ὃςhosHe ἔδωκενedōkengave ἑαυτὸνheautonHimself ὑπὲρhyperfor ἡμῶνhēmōnus ἵναhinato λυτρώσηταιlytrōsētairedeem ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἀπὸapofrom πάσηςpasēsall ἀνομίαςanomiaslawlessness καὶkaiand καθαρίσῃkatharisēto purify ἑαυτῷheautōfor Himself λαὸνlaona people περιούσιονperiousionfor His own possession , ζηλωτὴνzēlōtēnzealous καλῶνkalōnfor good ἔργωνergōndeeds .
15ΤαῦταTautathese things λάλειlaleiSpeak καὶkai[as] παρακάλειparakaleiyou encourage καὶkaiand ἔλεγχεelencherebuke μετὰmetawith πάσηςpasēsall ἐπιταγῆςepitagēsauthority . μηδείςmēdeis{Let} no one σουsouyou . περιφρονείτωperiphroneitōdespise
