2ᾐτήσατοētēsatoand requested παρ’par’. . . αὐτοῦautou. . . ἐπιστολὰςepistolasletters εἰςeisin ΔαμασκὸνDamaskonDamascus , πρὸςprosto τὰςtasthe συναγωγάςsynagōgassynagogues ὅπωςhopōsso that ἐάνeanif τιναςtinasany εὕρῃheurēhe found τῆςtēsto the ὉδοῦHodouWay , ὄνταςontasbelonging ἄνδραςandrasmen τεte- καὶkai[or] γυναῖκαςgynaikaswomen δεδεμένουςdedemenoushe could bring them as prisoners ἀγάγῃagagē. . . εἰςeisto ἸερουσαλήμIerousalēmJerusalem .
3ἘνEnon δὲde- τῷtō- πορεύεσθαιporeuesthaihis journey , ἐγένετοegeneto[As] αὐτὸνauton[Saul] ἐγγίζεινengizeindrew near τῇtē- ΔαμασκῷDamaskōto Damascus καὶkai- ἐξαίφνηςexaiphnēssuddenly περιήστραψενperiēstrapsenflashed around αὐτὸνautonhim . φῶςphōsa light ἀπὸapofrom τοῦtou- οὐρανοῦouranouheaven
4καὶkai- πεσὼνpesōnHe fell ἐπὶepito τὴνtēnthe γῆνgēnground ἤκουσεekouseheard φωνὴνphōnēna voice λέγουσανlegousansay αὐτῷautōto him , ΣαοὺλSaoul“ Saul , ΣαοὺλSaoul“ Saul , τίtiwhy μεmeMe ? ” διώκειςdiōkeisdo you persecute
5εἰπὲeipesay δέde- ΤίςTis“ Who εἶeiare You , ΚύριεKyrieLord ? ” ὉHo- . δέde[He replied] ΚύριοςKyriosLord εἶπενeipenspoke ἐγώegōI [am] , εἰμιeimiam ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus , ὃνhonwhom σὺsyyou διώκειςdiōkeisare persecuting , ”
6ἀλλὰalla“ Now ἀνάστηθιanastēthiget up καὶkaiand εἴσελθεeiselthego into εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēnthe πόλινpolincity , καὶkaiand λαληθήσεταίlalēthēsetaiyou will be told σοιsoi. . . τίtiwhat σεseyou δεῖdeimust ποιεῖνpoieindo . ”
7ΟἱHoiThe δὲde- ἄνδρεςandresmen οἱhoi- συνοδεύοντεςsynodeuontestraveling with αὐτῷautō[Saul] εἱστήκεισανheistēkeisanstood [there] ἐνεοίeneoispeechless . ἀκούοντεςakouontesThey heard μὲνmen- τῆςtēsthe φωνῆςphōnēsvoice μηδέναmēdena[anyone] . δὲde- θεωροῦντεςtheōrountesdid not see
8ἠγέρθηēgerthēgot up δὲde- ὅho- ΣαῦλοςSaulosSaul ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēsthe γῆςgēsground , ἀνεῳγμένωνaneōgmenōnwhen he opened τεte- τῶνtōn- ὀφθαλμῶνophthalmōneyes αὐτοῦautouhis οὐδέναoudenaone ἔβλεπε·eblepehe could not see χειραγωγοῦντεςcheiragōgountesthey led him by the hand δὲde[So] αὐτὸνauton. . . εἰσήγαγονeisēgagon. . . εἰςeisinto ΔαμασκόνDamaskonDamascus .
9καὶkai- ἦνēnhe was ἡμέραςhēmerasdays τρεῖςtreis[For] three μὴmēwithout βλέπωνblepōnsight , καὶkaiand οὐκoukvvv ἔφαγενephagenhe did not eat οὐδὲoude[or] ἔπιενepiendrink [anything] .
10ἐνenIn δέde- τιςtisa μαθητὴςmathētēsdisciple ἮνĒnthere was ΔαμασκῷDamaskōDamascus ὀνόματιonomatinamed ἉνανίαςHananiasAnanias . καὶkai- εἰπὲeipesay πρὸςprosto αὐτὸνautonhim ὁhoThe ΚύριοςKyriosLord ἐνenin ὁράματιhoramatia vision , ἉνανίαHanania“ Ananias ! ” ὉHo- δὲde- εἶπενeipenhe answered . ἸδοὺIdou“ Here ἐγώegōI [am] , ΚύριεKyrieLord , ”
11ὉHo- δὲde- ΚύριοςKyriosLord πρὸςpros[told] αὐτόνautonhim . ἈναστὰςAnastas“ Get up ! ” πορεύθητιporeuthēti“ Go ἐπὶepito τὴνtēn- ῥύμηνrhymēnStreet τὴνtēn- καλουμένηνkaloumenēn- ΕὐθεῖανEutheianStraight καὶkaiand ζήτησονzētēsonask for ‹ἐνenIn οἰκίᾳoikia[the] house ἸούδαIoudaof Judas ΣαῦλονSaulonSaul , ὀνόματιonomatinamed ΤαρσέαTarsea[a man from] Tarsus ἰδοὺidouhe is γὰρgarfor προσεύχεταιproseuchetaipraying .
12καὶkai- εἶδενeidenhe has seen ‹ἐνenIn ὁράματι›horamatia vision ἄνδραandraa man ὀνόματιonomatinamed ἉνανίανHananianAnanias εἰσελθόνταeiselthontacome καὶkaiand ἐπιθένταepithentaplace αὐτῷautōon him χεῖραcheiraby the hand ὅπωςhopōsin order ἀναβλέψῃanablepsērestore his sight . ”
13ἈπεκρίθηApekrithēanswered , δὲdeBut ἉνανίαςHananiasAnanias ΚύριεKyrie“ Lord , ἀκήκοαakekoahear ἀπὸapovvv πολλῶνpollōnmany [people] περὶperiabout τοῦtou- ἀνδρὸςandrosman τούτουtoutouthis ὅσαhosa[and] all κακὰkaka[the] harm ἐποίησεepoiesehas done τοῖςtoisto ἁγίοιςhagioissaints σουsouYour ἐνenin ἸερουσαλήμIerousalēmJerusalem .
14καὶkaiAnd now ὧδεhōde[he is] here ἔχειecheiwith ἐξουσίανexousianauthority παρὰparafrom τῶνtōnthe ἀρχιερέωνarchiereōnchief priests δῆσαιdēsaito arrest πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtouswho ἐπικαλουμένουςepikaloumenouscall on τὸto- ὄνομάonomaname . ” σουsouYour
15εἰπὲeipesay δὲde- πρὸςpros- αὐτὸνauton- . ὁhothe ΚύριοςKyriosLord ΠορεύουPoreuou“ Go ! ” ὅτιhoti“ - σκεῦοςskeuosinstrument ἐκλογῆςeklogēschosen μοιmoiMy ἐστίνestinis οὗτοςhoutosThis [man] τοῦtou- βαστάσαιbastasaito carry τὸto- ὄνομάonomaname μουmouMy ἐνώπιονenōpionbefore ἐθνῶνethnōnGentiles καὶkai. . . βασιλέωνbasileōnkings , υἱῶνhuiōn[before the] people τεteand ἸσραήλIsraēlof Israel .
16ἐγὼegōI γὰρgar- ὑποδείξωhypodeixōwill show αὐτῷautōhim ὅσαhosahow much δεῖdeimust αὐτὸνautonhe ὑπὲρhyperfor τοῦtou- ὀνόματόςonomatosname . ” μουmouMy παθεῖνpatheinsuffer
17ἀπέλθῃapelthēto depart δὲde[So] ἉνανίαςHananiasAnanias καὶkaiand [when] εἰσῆλθενeisēlthenhe arrived εἰςeis. . . , τὴνtēnto the οἰκίανoikianhouse , καὶkaiand [when] ἐπιθεὶςepitheishe placed ἐπ’ep’on αὐτὸνauton[Saul] . τὰςtas[his] χεῖραςcheirashands εἰπὲeipesay ΣαοὺλSaoulSaul , ” ἀδελφέadelphe“ Brother ὁho“ the ΚύριοςKyriosLord ἀπέσταλκέapestalkeHe has sent μεmeme ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus , ὁhowho ὀφθείςophtheisappeared σοιsoito you ἐνenon τῇtēthe ὁδῷhodōroad ᾗhē[as] ἤρχουērchouyou were coming [here] , ὅπωςhopōsso that ἀναβλέψῃςanablepsēsyou may see again καὶkaiand πλησθῇςplēsthēsbe filled ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit . ” ἉγίουHagiou[with the] Holy
18ΚαὶKai- εὐθέωςeutheōsAt that instant , ἀπέπεσονapepesonfell ἀπὸapofrom τῶνtōn- ὀφθαλμῶνophthalmōneyes , αὐτοῦautou[Saul’s] ὡσεὶhōseiabout λεπίδεςlepidesscales ἀνέβλεψέaneblepsehe received his sight τεteand καὶkai- ἀναστὰςanastasHe got up ἐβαπτίσθηebaptisthē[and] was baptized , καὶkaiand λαβὼνlabōnafter taking τροφὴνtrophēn[some] food , ἐνίσχυσενenischysenhe regained his strength .
19ἘγένετοEgenetohe spent δὲdeAnd ὁhothe ΣαῦλοςSaulosSaul μετὰmetawith τῶνtōnthe ὄντωνontōnare ἐνenin ΔαμασκῷDamaskōDamascus . μαθητῶνmathētōndisciples ἡμέραςhēmerasdays τινὰςtinasseveral
20καὶkaiand εὐθέωςeutheōsAt that instant , ἐνenon ταῖςtaisthe συναγωγαῖςsynagōgaissynagogues , ἐκήρυσσεekerussehe began to proclaim τὸνton- ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus ὅτιhoti[ declaring ] , οὗτόςhoutos“ He ἐστινestinis ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God . ”
21ἘξίσταντοExistantowere astounded δὲde- πάντεςpantesAll οἱhoiwho ἀκούοντεςakouontesheard [him] καὶkaiand ἔλεγονelegonasked , ΟὐχOuch. . . οὗτόςhoutosthis ἐστινestin“ Isn’t ὁhothe [man who] πορθήσαςporthēsaswreaked havoc ἐνenin ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem τοὺςtouson those ἐπικαλουμένουςepikaloumenous[who] call on τὸto- ὄνομαonomaname ? τοῦτοtoutothis καὶkaiAnd ὧδεhōdehere εἰςeis- τοῦτοtouto- ἘλήλυθενElēlythencame ἵναhinato δεδεμένουςdedemenousas prisoners αὐτοὺςautousthem ἀγάγῃagagētake ἐπὶepito τοὺςtousthe ἀρχιερεῖςarchiereischief priests ? ”
22ΣαῦλοςSaulosSaul δὲdeBut μᾶλλονmallonall the more , ἐνεδυναμοῦτοenedynamoutowas empowered καὶkaiand συνέχυνεsunekhunehe confounded ‹τοὺς›tousthe ἸουδαίουςIoudaiousJews τοὺςtous- κατοικοῦνταςkatoikountasliving ἐνenin ΔαμασκῷDamaskōDamascus συμβιβάζωνsymbibazōnby proving ὅτιhotithat οὗτόςhoutos[Jesus] ἐστινestinis ὁhothe ΧριστόςChristosChrist .
23ὩςHōsAfter δὲde- ἐπληροῦντοeplērountohad passed , ἡμέραιhēmeraidays ἱκαναίhikanaimany συνεβουλεύσαντοsynebouleusantoconspired οἱhoithe ἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiJews ἀνελεῖνaneleinto kill αὐτόνautonhim ,
24ἐγνώσθηegnōsthēlearned of δὲdebut τῷtō- ΣαύλῳSaulōSaul ἡhē- ἐπιβουλὴepiboulēplot . αὐτῶνautōntheir παρετήρουνparetērounthey were watching τεteand τὰςtasthe πύλαςpylas[city] gates ἡμέραςhēmerasDay τεteand καὶkaivvv νυκτὸςnyktosnight ὅπωςhopōsin order αὐτὸνautonhim . ἀνέλωσι·anelosito put [Jesus] to death
25λαβόντεςlabontestook [him] δὲdehowever , αὐτὸνautonhim . οἱhoi- μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples νυκτὸςnyktosOne night , καθῆκανkathēkan- διὰdiathrough [ a window ] τοῦtouin the τείχουςteichouswall . χαλάσαντεςchalasantes[and] lowered [him] ἐνenin σπυρίδιspyridia basket
26ΠαραγενόμενοςParagenomenos[Saul] arrived δὲde[When] ὁhothe ΣαῦλοςSaulosSaul εἰςeis- ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem ἐπειρᾶτοepeiratotried κολλᾶσθαιkollasthaito join τοῖςtoisthe μαθηταῖςmathētaisdisciples , καὶkai[but] πάντεςpantesvvv ἐφοβοῦντοephobountothey were all afraid of αὐτόνautonhim , μὴmēnot πιστεύοντεςpisteuontesbelieving ὅτιhotithat ἐστίestiI have μαθητήςmathētēsa disciple .
27ΒαρνάβαςBarnabasBarnabas δὲdeThen ἐπιλαβόμενοςepilabomenosvvv αὐτὸνautonvvv ἤγαγεegage[the devil] led πρὸςprosto τοὺςtousthe ἀποστόλουςapostolousapostles καὶkaiand διηγήσατοdiēgēsatodescribed αὐτοῖςautois. . . πῶςpōshow ἐνenon τῇtēthe ὁδῷhodōroad [to Damascus] , εἶδεeidesaw τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord , καὶkai- ὅτιhoti[who] ἐλάλησενelalēsenspoke αὐτῷautōto him καὶkai- πῶςpōshow ἐνenon ΔαμασκῷDamaskō[that city] ἐπαρρησιάσατοeparrēsiasato[Saul] had spoken boldly ἐνenin τῷtōthe ὀνόματιonomatiname ἸησοῦIēsouof Jesus .
28ΚαὶKai[So] ἦνēn[Saul] stayed μετ’met’with αὐτῶνautōnthem , εἰσπορευόμενοςeisporeuomenosmoving about freely καὶkai. . . ἐκπορευόμενοςekporeuomenos. . . ἐνenin ἸερουσαλήμIerousalēmJerusalem καὶkai. . . παρρησιαζόμενοςparrēsiazomenos[and] speaking boldly ἐνenin τῷtōthe ὀνόματιonomatiname τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord . ἸησοῦIēsouof Jesus .
29ἐλάλειelaleiHe talked τεte- καὶkaiand συνεζήτειsynezēteidebated πρὸςproswith τοὺςtousthe ἙλληνιστάςHellēnistasGrecian Jews , οἱhoi- δὲdebut ἐπεχείρουνepecheirounthey tried αὐτόνautonhim . ἀνελεῖνaneleinto kill
30ἐπιγνόντεςepignonteslearned of [this] , δὲde[When] οἱhoithe ἀδελφοὶadelphoibrothers κατήγαγονkatēgagonthey took him down αὐτὸνauton. . . εἰςeisto ΚαισάρειανKaisareianCaesarea καὶkaiand ἐξαπέστειλανexapesteilansent him off αὐτὸνauton. . . εἰςeisto ΤαρσόνTarsonTarsus .
31αἱhaithe μὲνmen- οὖνounThen ἐκκλησίαιekklēsiaichurches καθ’kath’throughout ὅληςholēs. . . τῆςtēs- ἸουδαίαςIoudaiasJudea , καὶkai- ΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasGalilee , καὶkaiand ΣαμαρείαςSamareiasSamaria εἶχονeichonwho were εἰρήνηνeirēnēn[a time of] peace . οἰκοδομούμεναιoikodomoumenaiIt grew in strength καὶkaiand πορευόμεναιporeuomenailiving τῷtōin the φόβῳphobōfear τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord καὶkaiand τῇtēthe παρακλήσειparaklēseiencouragement τοῦtouof the ἉγίουHagiouHoly ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit . ἐπληθύνοντο.eplethunontomultiply .
32ἘγένετοEgenetoAs δὲde- ΠέτρονPetronPeter διερχόμενονdierchomenontraveled διὰdiathroughout πάντωνpantōn[the area] , κατελθεῖνkateltheinhe went to [visit] καὶkaivvv πρὸςpros. . . τοὺςtousthe ἁγίουςhagioussaints τοὺςtous- κατοικοῦνταςkatoikountas[in] Λύδδαν.luddanLydda .
33εὕρῃheurēhe found δὲde- ἐκεῖekeiThere ἄνθρωπόνanthrōponman τιναtinaa ΑἰνέανAineanAeneas , ὀνόματιonomatinamed ἐξexfor ἐτῶνetōnyears . ὀκτὼoktōeight κατακείμενονkatakeimenon[and] bedridden ἐπὶepi. . . κραβάττῳ,krabattomat . ὃςhoswho ἦνēnhad been παραλελυμένοςparalelymenosparalyzed
34καὶkai- εἶπενeipensaid αὐτῷautōto him , ὁho- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ΑἰνέαAinea“ Aeneas , ” ἰᾶταίiataiheals σεseyou ! ἸησοῦςIēsous“ Jesus ὁho- ΧριστόςChristosChrist ἀνάστηθιanastēthiGet up καὶkaiand στρῶσονstrōsonput away your mat σεαυτῷseautō. . . . ” καὶkai- εὐθέωςeutheōsImmediately ἀνέστηanestē[Aeneas] got up ,
35καὶkaiand εἶδον*eidonthey saw αὐτὸνautonhim πάντεςpantesall οἱhoiwho κατοικοῦντεςkatoikounteslived in ΛύδδανluddanLydda . καὶkaiand τὸνton- ΣαρῶναSarōnaSharon οἵτινεςhoitines[and] ἐπέστρεψανepestrepsanturned ἐπὶepito τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord .
36ἘνEnIn ἸόππῃIoppēJoppa δέde- τιςtisa ἦνēnthere was μαθήτριαmathētriadisciple ὀνόματιonomatinamed ΤαβιθάTabithaTabitha ἣhē(which διερμηνευομένηdiermēneuomenēis translated λέγεταιlegetaias ΔορκάςDorkasDorcas ), αὕτηhautēwho ἦνēnwas πλήρηςplērēsoccupied with ἀγαθῶνagathōnof kindness ἔργωνergōnworks καὶkaiand ἐλεημοσυνῶνeleēmosynōncharity . ὧνhōn- ἐποίειepoieialways
37ἐγένετοegenetovvv δὲdehowever , ἐνenAt ταῖςtais- ἡμέραιςhēmeraistime , ἐκείναιςekeinaisthat ἀσθενήσασανasthenēsasanshe became sick αὐτὴνautēn[and] ἀποθανεῖνapothaneindied , λούσαντεςlousantesher body was washed δὲdeand ‹αὐτὴν›autēn. . . ἔθηκανethēkan[and] placed ἐνenin ὑπερῴῳhyperōōan upper room .
38ἐγγὺςengysnear δὲde[Since] οὔσηςousēswas ΛύδδηςluddesLydda τῇtē- ἸόππῃIoppēJoppa , οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples ἀκούσαντεςakousantesheard ὅτιhotithat ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ἐστὶνestinwas ἐνenvvv αὐτῇautē[there] ἀπέστειλανapesteilan[and] sent δύοdyotwo ἄνδραςandrasmen πρὸςpros- αὐτὸνautonhim , παρακαλοῦντεςparakalountesto urge ΜὴMēwithout ὀκνῆσαιoknesaidelay . ” διελθεῖνdielthein“ Come ἕωςheōsto αὐτὸνautonhim ,
39ἈναστὰςAnastasgot up δὲde[So] ΠέτροςPetrosPeter συνῆλθενsynēlthen[and] went with αὐτοῖςautoisthem . ὃνhonvvv παραγενόμενονparagenomenonOn his arrival , ἀνήγαγονanēgagonthey took [him] εἰςeisto τὸtothe ὑπερῷονhyperōonupper room . καὶkai- παρέστησανparestēsanstood around αὐτῷautōhim , πᾶσαιpasaiAll αἱhaithe χῆραιchēraiwidows κλαίουσαιklaiousaiweeping καὶkaiand ἐπιδεικνύμεναιepideiknymenaishowing [him] χιτῶναςchitōnas[the] tunics καὶkaiand ἱμάτιαhimatia[other] clothing ὅσαhosathat ἐποίειepoieihad made μετ’met’with αὐτῶνautōnthem . οὖσαousawhile she was still ἡhē- ΔορκάςDorkasDorcas
40ἘκβαλὼνEkbalōnsent δὲdeThen ἔξωexōout of the room . πάνταςpantasthem all ὁho- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter καὶkai- θεὶςtheisHe knelt down τὰta. . . γόναταgonata. . . προσηύξατοprosēuxato[and] prayed , καὶkaiand ἐπιστρέψαςepistrepsasturning πρὸςprostoward τὸto[her] σῶμαsōmabody , εἰπὲeipesay ΤαβιθάTabitha“ Tabitha , ἀνάστηθιanastēthiget up ! ” ἡhē- δὲde- ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τοὺςtous- ὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmouseyes , αὐτῆςautēsher καὶkaiand ἰδοῦσαidousaseeing τὸνton- ΠέτρονPetronPeter , ἀνεκάθισε.anekathisesat up
41δοὺςdous[Peter] took δὲde- αὐτῇautēher χεῖραcheiraby the hand ἀνέστησενanestēsen[and] helped her up αὐτήνautēn. . . . φωνήσαςphōnēsashe called δὲdeThen τοὺςtousthe ἁγίουςhagioussaints καὶkaiand τὰςtas- χήραςchēraswidows παρέστησενparestēsen[and] presented αὐτὴνautēnher [to them] ζῶσανzōsanalive .
42ΓνωστὸνGnōstonknown δὲde- ἐγένετοegeneto[This] became καθ’kath’over ὅληςholēsall τῆςtēs- ἸόππηςIoppēsJoppa , καὶkaiand πολλοὶpolloimany [people] ἐπίστευσανepisteusanbelieved ἐπὶepiin τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord .
43ἘγένετοEgeneto. . . δὲdeAnd ἡμέραςhēmerasdays ἱκανὰςhikanasseveral μεῖναιmeinai[Peter] stayed for αὐτῶνautōnthem . ἐνenvvv ἸόππῃIoppēJoppa , παράparawith τινιtinia ΣίμωνιSimōni[named] Simon . βυρσεῖbyrseitanner
