1ΤῷTō[“] To the ἀγγέλῳangelōangel τῆςtēsof the ἐνenin ἘφέσῳEphesōEphesus ἐκκλησίαςekklēsiaschurch γράψονgrapsonwrite : ΤάδεTadeThese [are] λέγειlegeithe words ὁhoof Him who κρατῶνkratōnholds τοὺςtousthe ἑπτὰheptaseven ἀστέραςasterasstars ἐνenin τῇtē- δεξιᾷdexiaright hand αὐτοῦautouHis ὁho- περιπατῶνperipatōn[and] walks ἐνenvvv μέσῳmesōamong τῶνtōnthe ἑπτὰheptaseven λυχνιῶνlychniōnlampstands . τῶνtōn- χρυσῶνchrysōngolden
2ΟἶδαOidaI know τὰta- ἔργαergadeeds , σουsouyour καὶkai- τὸνton- κόπονkoponlabor , σουsouyour καὶkai- τὴνtēn[your] ὑπομονήνhypomonēnperseverance . σουsouyour καὶkai- ὅτιhotithat οὐouvvv δύνῃdynēyou cannot βαστάσαιbastasaitolerate κακούςkakous[those who are] evil , καὶkaiand ἐπείρασαςepeirasasyou have tested τοὺςtousthose who λέγονταςlegontasclaim ἑαυτοὺςheautousto be ἀποστόλουςapostolousapostles . εἶναιeinaito be καὶkai- οὐκoukfalsely εἰσί,eisiare καὶkai- εὗρεςheuresexposed αὐτοὺςautous- ψευδεῖςpseudeisas liars
3καὶkaivvv ὑπομονὴνhypomonēnpersevered ἔχειςecheisyou have καὶkai- ἐβάστασαςebastasasendured many things διὰdiafor the sake of τὸto- ὄνομάonomaname . μουmouMy καὶkaiand οὐou. . . κεκοπίακας.kekopiakasgrowing weary ,
4ἈλλὰAllaBut ἔχωechōI have κατὰkataagainst σοῦsouyou : ὅτιhotithis τὴνtēn- ἀγάπηνagapēnlove . σουsouyour τὴνtēn- πρώτηνprōtēnfirst ἀφῆκας.aphekasYou have abandoned
5μνημόνευεmnēmoneuekeep in mind οὖνounTherefore , πόθενpothenhow far πέπτωκας*peptōkasyou have fallen . καὶkai- μετανόησονmetanoēsonRepent καὶkaiand τὰtathe πρῶταprōtaat first . ἔργαergadeeds [you did] ποίησονpoiēsonperform εἰeiif δὲdeBut μήmēvvv ἔρχομαίerchomaiI will come σοιsoito you ταχύtachyshortly καὶkaiand κινήσωkinēsōremove τὴνtēn- λυχνίανlychnianlampstand σουsouyour ἐκekfrom τοῦtou- τόπουtopouplace . αὐτῆςautēsits ἐὰνeanvvv μὴmēvvv μετανοήσῃςmetanoēsēsyou do not repent ,
6ἈλλὰAllaBut τοῦτοtoutothis ἔχειςecheisyou have ὅτιhoti[to your credit] : μισεῖςmiseisYou hate τὰtathe ἔργαergaworks τῶνtōnof the ΝικολαϊτῶνNikolaitōnNicolaitans , ἃhawhich κἀγὼkagōI also μισῶmisōhate .
7ὉHoHe who ἔχωνechōnhas οὖςousan ear , ἀκουσάτωakousatōlet him hear τίtiwhat τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit λέγειlegeisays ταῖςtaisto the ἐκκλησίαιςekklēsiaischurches . ΤῷTōTo the [one who] νικῶντιnikōntiovercomes , δώσωdōsōI will grant [the right] αὐτῷautō. . . φαγεῖνphageinto eat ἐκekfrom τοῦtouthe ξύλουxyloutree τῆςtēs- ζωῆςzōēsof life ὅho- ἐστινestin- ἐνenin τῷtōthe ΠαραδείσῳParadeisōParadise τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God . μουmouMy
8καὶkaiand τὸto- ἀγγέλῳangelōangel τῆςtēsof the ἐνenin ΣμύρνῃSmyrnēSmyrna ἐκκλησίαςekklēsiasthe church γράψονgrapsonwrite : ΤάδεTadeThese [are] λέγειlegeithe words ὁhoof the πρῶτοςprōtosFirst καὶkaiand ὁhothe ἔσχατοςeschatosLast , ὃςhoswho ἐγένετοegenetodied νεκρὸςnekros. . . καὶkaiand ἔζησενezēsenreturned to life .
9ΟἶδάOidaI know σουsouyour τὰtathe ἔργαergaworks καὶkaiand τὴνtēn- θλῖψινthlipsinaffliction καὶkaiand τὴνtēn[your] πτωχείανptōcheianpoverty — ἀλλὰallathough πλούσιοςplousiosrich ! εἶeiyou are καὶkaiAnd [I am aware of] τὴνtēnthe βλασφημίανblasphēmianslander ἐκekof τῶνtōnthose who λεγόντωνlegontōnclaim ἸουδαίουςIoudaiousJews , εἶναιeinaito be ἑαυτούςheautous- καὶkai- οὐκoukfalsely εἰσίνeisin- ἀλλὰallabut [are in fact] συναγωγὴsynagōgēa synagogue τοῦtou- ΣατανᾶSatanaof Satan .
10Μηδὲν*Mēden{Do} not φοβοῦphoboufear ἃhawhat μέλλειςmelleisyou are about παθεῖνpatheinsuffer ἰδοὺidouLook , δὲdeBut μέλλειmelleiis about βαλεῖνbaleinto place ὁho- διάβολοςdiabolosdevil ἐξex[some] of ὑμῶνhymōnyou εἰςeisinto φυλακὴνphylakēnprison ἵναhinato πειρασθῆτεpeirasthētetest you , καὶkaiand ἕξετεhexeteyou will suffer θλῖψινthlipsintribulation ἡμέραςhēmerasdays δέκαdeka[for] ten γίνουginouBe πιστὸςpistosfaithful ἄχριachri[even] unto θανάτουthanatoudeath , καὶkaiand δώσωdōsōI will give σοιsoiyou τὸνtonthe στέφανονstephanoncrown τῆςtēs- ζωῆςzōēsof life .
11ὉHoHe who ἔχωνechōnhas οὖςousan ear , ἀκουσάτωakousatōlet him hear τίtiwhat τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit λέγειlegeisays ταῖςtaisto the ἐκκλησίαιςekklēsiaischurches . ὉHOThe [one who] νικῶνnikōnovercomes οὐouvvv μὴmēvvv ἀδικηθῇadikēthēwill not be harmed ἐκekby τοῦtouthe θανάτουthanatoudeath . τοῦtou- δευτέρουdeuterousecond
12ΚαὶKai- τῷtōTo the ἀγγέλῳangelōangel τῆςtēsof the ἐνenin ΠεργάμῳPergamōPergamum ἐκκλησίαςekklēsiaschurch γράψονgrapsonwrite : ΤάδεTadeThese [are] λέγειlegeithe words ὁhoof the [One who] ἔχωνechōnholds τὴνtēnthe ῥομφαίανrhomphaiansword . τὴνtēn- δίστομονdistomondouble-edged τὴνtēn- ὀξεῖανoxeiansharp ,
13ΟἶδαOidaI know τὰtathe ἔργαergaworks σουsouyour καὶkaiand ποῦpouwhere κατοικεῖςkatoikeisyou live , ὅπουhopouwhere ὁhothe θρόνοςthronosthrone τοῦtou- ΣατανᾶSatanaof Satan [sits] . καὶkaiYet κρατεῖςkrateisyou have held fast τὸto- ὄνομάonomaname μουmouto My καὶkaiYet οὐκoukvvv ἠρνήσωērnēsōhave not denied τὴνtēn[your] πίστινpistinfaith μουmouin Me , καὶkaieven ἐνenin ταῖςtaisthe ἡμέραιςhēmeraisday αἷςhais- ἈντιπᾶςAntipasAntipas ὁho- μάρτυςmartyswitness μουmou- ὁho- πιστόςpistosfaithful ὃςhos- ἀπεκτάνθηapektanthēwas killed παρ’par’among ὑμῖνhyminyou , ὅπουhopouwhere ὁho- ΣατανᾶςSatanasSatan κατοικεῖkatoikeidwells .
14ἀλλὰallabut [are in fact] ἔχωechōI have κατὰkataagainst σοῦsouyou , ὀλίγαoligaa few things ὅτιhotibecause ἔχειςecheisof you ἐκεῖekei[some] κρατοῦνταςkratountashold τὴνtēnto the διδαχὴνdidachēnteaching ΒαλαάμBalaamof Balaam , ὃςhoswho ἐδίδαξεedidaxetaught τῶνtōnthe ΒαλὰκBalakBalak βαλεῖνbaleinto place σκάνδαλονskandalona stumbling block ἐνώπιονenōpionbefore τῶνtōnthe υἱῶνhuiōnvvv ἸσραήλIsraēlIsraelites καὶkaiand φαγεῖνphageinso they would eat εἰδωλόθυταeidōlothytafood sacrificed to idols καὶkaiand πορνεῦσαιporneusaicommit sexual immorality .
15οὕτωςhoutōsvvv ἔχειςecheis- καὶkaialso σὺsy[some of] you κρατοῦνταςkratountashold τὴνtēnto the διδαχὴνdidachēnteaching τῶνtōnof the ΝικολαϊτῶνNikolaitōnNicolaitans . ὁμοίωςhomoiōsIn the same way ,
16μετανόησονmetanoēsonrepent ! οὖνounTherefore εἰei. . . δὲdeOtherwise μήmē. . . ἔρχομαίerchomaiI will come σοιsoito you ταχύtachyshortly καὶkaiand πολεμήσωpolemēsōwage war μετ’met’against αὐτῶνautōnthem ἐνenwith τῇtēthe ῥομφαίᾳrhomphaiasword τοῦtou- στόματόςstomatosmouth . μουmouof My
17ὉHoHe who ἔχωνechōnhas οὖςousan ear , ἀκουσάτωakousatōlet him hear τίtiwhat τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit λέγειlegeisays ταῖςtaisto the ἐκκλησίαιςekklēsiaischurches . ΤῷTōwho νικῶντιnikōntiovercomes , δώσωdōsōI will give αὐτῷautōTo [the one] τοῦtou- μάνναmannamanna . τοῦtouthe κεκρυμμένουkekrymmenouhidden καὶkaivvv δώσωdōsōI will also give αὐτῷautōhim ψῆφονpsēphonstone λευκήνleukēna white καὶkaivvv ἐπὶepi. . . τὴνtēn. . . ψῆφονpsēphon. . . ὄνομαonomaname , καινὸνkainona new γεγραμμένονgegrammenoninscribed ὃho- οὐδεὶςoudeis- οἶδενoidenknown εἰeionly μὴmē. . . ὁhoto the [one who] λαμβάνωνlambanōnreceives [it] .
18ΚαὶKai- τῷtōTo ἀγγέλῳangelō[the] angel τῆςtēsof the ἐνenin ΘυατείροιςThyateiroisThyatira ἐκκλησίαςekklēsiaschurch γράψονgrapsonwrite : ΤάδεTadeThese [are] λέγειlegeithe words ὁhoof the ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God , ὁho- ἔχωνechōnwhose τοὺςtous- ὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmouseyes [are] αὐτοῦautou. . . ὡςhōslike φλόγαphlogaa blazing πυρόςpyrosfire καὶkaiand οἱhoi- πόδεςpodesfeet αὐτοῦautou[whose] ὅμοιοιhomoioi[are] like χαλκολιβάνῳchalkolibanōpolished bronze .
19ΟἶδάOidaI know σουsouyour τὰta- ἔργαergadeeds — καὶkai- τὴνtēn- ἀγάπηνagapēnlove , καὶkai- τὴνtēn[your] πίστινpistinfaith , καὶkai- τὴνtēn[your] διακονίανdiakonianservice , καὶkai- τὴνtēn[your] ὑπομονήνhypomonēnperseverance — σουsouyour καὶkaiand τὰta- ἔργαergadeeds σουsouyour τὰta- ἔσχαταeschatalatter πλείοναpleiona[are] greater τῶνtōnthan [your] πρώτωνprōtōnfirst .
20ἈλλὰAllaBut ἔχωechōI have [this] κατὰkataagainst σοῦsouyou ὀλίγαoligaa few things ὅτιhotibecause ἀφεῖςapheisYou tolerate τὴνtēnthat γυναῖκαgynaikawoman σοῦsouyou ἸεζάβελIezabelJezebel , ἡhēwho λέγειlegeithe words ἑαυτὴνheautēnherself προφῆτινprophētina prophetess . καὶkai- διδάσκειdidaskeiBy her teaching καὶkai- πλανᾷplanashe misleads τοὺςtous- ἐμοὺςemousMy δούλουςdoulousservants πορνεῦσαιporneusaito be sexually immoral καὶkaiand φαγεῖνphageinto eat εἰδωλόθυταeidōlothytafood sacrificed to idols .
21καὶkaiEven [though] ἔδωκαedōkaI have given αὐτῇautēher χρόνονchronontime ἵναhinato μετανοήσῃmetanoēsērepent καὶkai- οὐouvvv θέλειtheleishe is unwilling μετανοῆσαιmetanoēsai- . ἐκekof τῆςtēs- πορνείαςporneiasimmorality , αὐτῆςautēsher
22ἸδοὺIdouBehold , βάλλωballōI will cast αὐτὴνautēnher εἰςeisonto κλίνηνklinēna bed of sickness , καὶkaiand τοὺςtousthose who μοιχεύονταςmoicheuontascommit adultery μετ’met’with αὐτῆςautēsher εἰςeis[will suffer] θλῖψινthlipsintribulation μεγάληνmegalēngreat ἐὰνeanunless μὴmē. . . μετανοήσωσιν*metanoēsōsinthey repent ἐκekof τῶνtōn- ἔργωνergōndeeds . αὐτῆςautēsher
23καὶkaiThen τὰta- τέκναteknachildren αὐτῆςautēsher ἀποκτενῶapoktenōI will strike ἐνen- θανάτῳthanatōdead , καὶkaiand γνώσονταιgnōsontaiwill know πᾶσαιpasaiall αἱhaithe ἐκκλησίαιekklēsiaichurches ὅτιhotithat ἐγώegōI εἰμιeimiam ὁhothe [One who] ἐρευνῶνereunonsearches νεφροὺςnephrousminds καὶkaiand καρδίαςkardiashearts , καὶkaiand δώσωdōsōI will repay ὑμῖνhyminof you ἑκάστῳhekastōeach κατὰkataaccording to τὰta- ἔργαergadeeds . ὑμῶνhymōnyour
24ὑμῖνhyminof you δὲdeBut λέγωlegōI say τοῖςtoisto [the] λοιποῖςloipoisrest τοῖςtoisto [the] ἐνenin ΘυατείροιςThyateiroisThyatira , ὅσοιhosoiwho οὐκouk{do} not ἜχουσιEchousi‘ They have τὴνtēn- διδαχὴνdidachēnteaching ταύτηνtautēn[her] οἵτινεςhoitines[and] οὐκouk{have} not ἔγνωσανegnōsanlearned τὰtathe βαθέαbatheadeep things τοῦtou- ΣατανᾶSatanaof Satan : ὡςhōsvvv λέγουσινlegousinso-called οὐouno βάλλωballōI will place ἐφ’eph’upon ὑμᾶςhymasyou . ἄλλοallofurther βάροςbarosburden
25πλὴνplēnNevertheless , ὃhoto what ἔχετεecheteyou have κρατήσατεkratēsatehold fast ἄχριςachrisuntil οὗhou- ἂνan- ἥξωhēxōI come .
26ΚαὶKaiAnd ὁhoto the [one who] νικῶνnikōnovercomes καὶkaiand ὁho- τηρῶνtērōncontinues ἄχριachriuntil τέλουςtelous[the] end , τὰta- ἔργαergawork μουmou{in} My δώσωdōsōI will give αὐτῷautō- ἐξουσίανexousianauthority ἐπὶepiover τῶνtōnthe ἐθνῶνethnōnnations .
27καὶkai- ποιμανεῖpoimaneiHe will rule αὐτοὺςautousthem ἐνenwith ῥάβδῳrhabdōscepter σιδηρᾷsidēraan iron ὡςhōslike τὰta- σκεύηskeuēvvv τὰtavvv κεραμικὰkeramikapottery — συντριβήσεταιsyntribēsetaiwill be broken .” ὡςhōsjust as κἀγὼkagōI εἴληφαeilēphahave received [authority] παρὰparafrom τοῦtou- ΠατρόςPatrosFather . μουmouMy
28καὶkaiAnd δώσωdōsōI will give αὐτῷautōhim τὸνtonthe ἀστέραasterastar . τὸνton- πρωϊνόνprōinonmorning
29ὉHoHe who ἔχωνechōnhas οὖςousan ear , ἀκουσάτωakousatōlet him hear τίtiwhat τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit λέγειlegeisays ταῖςtaisto the ἐκκλησίαιςekklēsiaischurches . [’’]
