2καὶkai[There] μετεμορφώθηmetemorphōthēHe was transfigured ἔμπροσθενemprosthenbefore αὐτῶνautōnthem . καὶkai- ἔλαμψεelampseshone τὸto- πρόσωπονprosōponface αὐτοῦautouHis ὡςhōslike ὁhothe ἥλιοςhēliossun , τὰta- δὲdeand ἱμάτιαhimatiaclothes αὐτοῦautouHis ἐγένετοegenetobecame λευκὰleukaas white ὡςhōsas τὸtothe φῶςphōslight .
3ΚαὶKaiSuddenly ἰδοὺidou. . . ὤφθησανophthesanappeared αὐτοῖςautoisbefore them , ΜωϋσῆςMōusēsMoses καὶkaiand ἨλίαςĒliasElijah μετ’met’with αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] . συλλαλοῦντες*syllalountestalking
4ἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisvvv δὲde- ὁho- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter εἰπὲeipesay τῷtō- ἸησοῦIēsouto Jesus , ΚύριεKyrie“ Lord , καλόνkalongood ἐστινestinit is ἡμᾶςhēmasfor us ὧδεhōdehere . εἶναιeinaito be εἰeiIf θέλειςtheleisYou wish , ποιήσωμενpoiēsōmenLet us put up ὧδεhōdehere . τρεῖςtreisthree σκηνάςskēnasshelters σοὶsoifor You , μίανmianone καὶkai- Μωσεῖmoseifor Moses , μίανmianone καὶkai- μίανmianone ἨλίᾳĒliafor Elijah . ”
5ἜτιEtiWhile αὐτοῦautou[Peter] λαλοῦντοςlalountoswas {still} speaking ἰδοὺidou- , νεφέληnephelēcloud φωτεινὴphōteinēa bright ἐπεσκίασενepeskiasenenveloped αὐτούςautousthem , καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidou- φωνὴphōnēa voice ἐκekfrom τῆςtēsthe νεφέληςnephelēscloud λέγουσαlegousasaid , ΟὗτόςHoutos“ This ἐστινestinis ὁho- ΥἱόςHuiosSon , μουmouMy ὁho- ἀγαπητόςagapētosbeloved ἐνenin ᾧhōwhom εὐδόκησαeudokēsaI am well pleased . αὐτοῦautouto Him ! ” ἀκούετεakoueteListen
6καὶkaiWhen ἀκούσαντεςakousantesheard [this] , οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples ἔπεσανepesanthey fell ἐπὶepifacedown πρόσωπονprosōpon. . . αὐτῶνautōn. . . καὶkai- ἐφοβήθησανephobēthēsanin terror . σφόδραsphodravvv
7καὶkai- προσῆλθονprosēlthoncame ὉHo- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἥψατοhēpsato[and] touched αὐτὸνautonhim . ΚαὶKaiWhen εἶπενeipentold ἘγέρθητεEgerthēte“ Get up , ” καὶkai“ - μὴmēvvv φοβεῖσθεphobeistheDo not be afraid . ”
8ἐπάραντεςeparantesthey looked up δὲdeAnd when τοὺςtous. . . ὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmous. . . , αὐτῶνautōn. . . οὐδέναoudenano one εἶδονeidonthey saw εἰeiexcept μὴmē. . . τὸνtonthe ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus μόνονmonon. . .
9ΚαὶKaiAs καταβαινόντωνkatabainontōnwere coming down αὐτῶνautōnthey ἀπὸapofrom τοῦtou- ὄρουςorousmountain , ἐνετείλατοeneteilatocommanded αὐτοῖςautoisthem ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus λέγωνlegōn- , ΜηδενὶMēdeni. . . εἴπητεeipēte“ Do not tell anyone τὸto[about this] ὅραμαhoramavision ἕωςheōsuntil οὗhou. . . ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead . ” ἀναστῇanastērises
10ΚαὶKai- ἐπηρώτησανepērōtēsanasked αὐτὸνautonHim οἱhoiThe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples αὐτοῦautouto Him ! ” λέγοντεςlegontes- , ΤίTi“ Why οὖνounthen οἱhoi{do} the γραμματεῖςgrammateisscribes λέγουσινlegousinsay ὅτιhotithat ἨλίανĒlianElijah δεῖdeimust ἐλθεῖνeltheincome πρῶτονprōtonfirst ? ”
11ὉHo- δὲde- ἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisvvv εἶπενeipen[Jesus] replied , αὐτοῖςautoisthem ἨλίαςĒlias“ Elijah μὲνmen{does} indeed ἔρχεταιerchetaicome , πρῶτονprōtonfirst ? ” καὶkaiand ἀποκαταστήσειapokatastēseihe will restore πάνταpantaall things .
12λέγωlegōI tell δὲdeBut ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhotithat ἨλίαςĒliasElijah ἤδηēdē{has} already ἔλθῃelthēshould come καὶkaiand οὐκoukvvv ἐπέγνωσανepegnōsanthey did not recognize αὐτὸνautonhim , ἀλλ’all’Instead , ἐποίησανepoiēsanhave done ἐνento αὐτῷautōhim ὅσαhosawhatever ἠθέλησανēthelēsanthey wished . οὕτωouto[this] καὶkai. . . , ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man μέλλειmelleiwill πάσχεινpascheinsuffer ὑπ’hyp’at their hands αὐτῶνautōn. . . . ”
13τότεtoteThen συνῆκανsynēkanunderstood οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples ὅτιhotithat περὶperiabout ἸωάννουIōannouJohn τοῦtouthe ΒαπτιστοῦBaptistouBaptist . εἶπενeipenHe was speaking αὐτοῖςautoisto them
14ΚαὶKaiWhen ἐλθόντωνelthontōnthey came αὐτὸνautonHim . πρὸςprosto τὸνtonthe ὄχλονochloncrowd , προσῆλθενprosēlthencame up αὐτῷautōto [Jesus] ἄνθρωποςanthrōposa man γονυπετῶνgonypetōn[and] knelt before αὐτὸνautonHim . καὶkai- λέγωνlegōnhe said .
15ΚύριεKyrie“ Lord , ἐλέησόνeleēsonhave mercy on μουmoumy τὸνton- υἱόνhuionson , ” ὅτιhoti“ - σεληνιάζεταιselēniazetaiHe has seizures καὶkaiand κακῶςkakōsterribly . πάσχει*pascheiis suffering πολλάκιςpollakisvvv γὰρgar- πίπτειpipteiHe often falls εἰςeisinto τὸtothe πῦρpyrfire καὶkai[or] πολλάκιςpollakis- εἰςeisinto τὸtothe ὕδωρhydōrwater .
16καὶkai- προσήνεγκαprosēnenkaI brought αὐτὸνautonhim τοῖςtoisto μαθηταῖςmathētaisdisciples , σουsouYour καὶkaibut οὐκouknot ἠδυνήθησανēdynēthēsanthey could αὐτὸνautonhim . ” θεραπεῦσαιtherapeusaiheal
17ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheisreplied δὲde- ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus εἶπενeipen- . ὁho- γενεὰgeneageneration ! ” ἄπιστοςapistosunbelieving καὶkaiand διεστραμμένηdiestrammenēperverse ἕωςheōs“ How long πότεpote. . . ἔσομαιesomaimust I remain μεθ’meth’with ὑμῶνhymōnyou ? ἕωςheōsHow long πότεpote. . . ἀνέξομαιanexomaimust I put up with ὑμῶνhymōnyou ? φέρετέphereteBring μοιmoito Me . ” αὐτὸνauton[the boy] ὧδεhōdehere
18καὶkaiThen ἐπετίμησενepetimēsenrebuked αὐτῷautō[the demon] , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus καὶkaiThen ἐξῆλθενexēlthencame out ἀπ’ap’of αὐτοῦautou[the boy] , τὸto- δαιμόνιονdaimonion[it] καὶkaiand ἐθεραπεύθηetherapeuthēwas healed ὁho- παῖςpais[he] ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēs- ὥραςhōrasmoment . ἐκείνηςekeinēsthat
19ΤότεToteAfterward προσελθόντεςproselthontescame οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples τῷtō- ἸησοῦIēsouto Jesus κατ’kat’vvv ἰδίανidianprivately εἶπονeipon[and] asked , διατίdiatiwhy ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe οὐκoukvvv ἠδυνήθημενēdynēthēmencouldn’t ἐκβαλεῖνekbaleindrive it out αὐτόauto. . . ? ”
20ὉHo- δὲde- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus εἶπενeipentold αὐτοῖςautoisthem , ΔιὰDia“ Because τὴνtēn- ἀπιστίανapistianunbelief . ὑμῶνhymōnyou ἀμὴνamēntruly γὰρgar“ For λέγωlegōI tell ὑμῖνhyminyou , ἐὰνeanif ἔχητεechēteyou have πίστινpistinfaith ὡςhōsthe size of κόκκονkokkonseed , σινάπεωςsinapeōsa mustard ἐρεῖτεereiteyou can say τῷtō- ὄρειoreimountain , τούτῳtoutōto this μετάβηθιmetabethi‘ Move ἐντεῦθενenteuthenthis place ἐκεῖekeito there , ’ καὶkaiand μεταβήσεταιmetabēsetaiit will move . καὶkai- οὐδὲνoudenNothing ἀδυνατήσειadynatēseiwill be impossible ὑμῖνhyminfor you .”
21τούτῳtoutōto this δὲdeWhen τῷtō- γένοςgenoskind οὐκoukvvv ἐκπορεύεταιekporevetaicome out εἰeiexcept μὴmē. . . ἐνenin προσευχῇproseuchēprayer καὶkaiWhen νηστείᾳ.nesteiafasting
22Ἀναστρεφομένωνanastrephomenongathered together δὲdeAnd when αὐτῶνautōn. . . εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēn- ΓαλιλαίανGalilaianGalilee , εἶπενeipentold αὐτοῖςautoisthem , ὁho“ The ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΜέλλειMelleiis about ὁho“ The ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man παραδίδοσθαιparadidosthaito be delivered εἰςeisinto χεῖραςcheiras[the] hands ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnof men .
23καὶkai- ἀποκτενοῦσινapoktenousinThey will kill αὐτόνautonHim , καὶkaiand τῇtēon the τρίτῃtritēthird ἡμέρᾳhēmeraday ἐγερθήσεταιegerthēsetaiHe will be raised [to life] . ” καὶkaiAnd ἐλυπήθησανelypēthēsan[the disciples] were deeply grieved . σφόδραsphodravvv
24ἘλθόντωνElthontōnhad arrived δὲdeAfter αὐτῶνautōnthey εἰςeisin ΚαπερναοὺμkapernaoumCapernaum . προσῆλθονprosēlthoncame οἱhoithe τὰtaof the δίδραχμαdidrachmatwo-drachma [tax] λαμβάνοντεςlambanontescollectors τῷtō- ΠέτρῳPetrōto Peter καὶkaiand εἶπονeipon[and] asked , ὉHo- διδάσκαλοςdidaskalosTeacher ὑμῶνhymōn“ {Does} your οὐouvvv τελεῖteleipay ‹τὰ›tathe δίδραχμαdidrachmatwo drachmas ? ”
25ΛέγειLegeihe answered . ΝαίNai“ Yes , ” ΚαὶKaiWhen ὅτεhoteWhen εἰσελθὼνeiselthōnto enter εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēnthe οἰκίανoikianhouse , προέφθασενproephthasenpreempted αὐτὸνautonhim . ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus λέγωνlegōnHe asked . ΤίTi“ What σοιsoivvv δοκεῖdokeido you think , ΣίμωνSimōnSimon ? ” οἱhoi{do} the βασιλεῖςbasileiskings τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth ἀπὸapofrom τίνωνtinōnwhom λαμβάνουσιlambanousicollect τέληtelēcustoms ἢē[and] κῆνσονkēnsontaxes : ἀπὸapofrom τῶνtōn[own] υἱῶνhuiōnsons , αὐτῶνautōntheir ἢēor ἀπὸapofrom τῶνtōn- ἀλλοτρίωνallotriōnothers ? ”
26ΛέγειLegeihe answered . αὐτῷautō- . ὁho- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ἀπὸapofrom τὸνton- ἀλλοτρίωνallotriōnothers ? ” ἔφηephēdeclared αὐτῷautō- . ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἄραarathen γῇgēsoil ἐλεύθεροίeleutheroiexempt , ” εἰσινeisinare οἱhoithe υἱοίhuioisons
27ἵναhinaso that δὲde“ But μὴmēvvv σκανδαλίσωμενskandalisōmenwe may not offend αὐτούςautousthem , πορευθεὶςporeutheisgo εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe θάλασσανthalassanthe sea , βάλεbalecast ἄγκιστρονankistrona hook , καὶkaiand τὸνtonthe ἀναβάνταanabantayou catch . πρῶτονprōtonfirst ἰχθὺνichthynfish ἆρονarontake καὶkaiand ἀνοίξαςanoixasyou open τὸto- στόμαstomamouth , αὐτοῦautouits εὑρήσειςheurēseisyou will find στατῆραstatēraa four-drachma coin . ἐκεῖνονekeinon[and] λαβὼνlabōnTake [it] δὸςdosgive [it] αὐτοῖςautoisto them ἀντὶantifor ἐμοῦemouMy tax καὶkaiand σοῦsouyours . ”
