1Τῇ[It is] for ἐλευθερίᾳeleutheriafreedom οὖνounthen , [Such] ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ἡμᾶςhēmas. . . . ἐλευθερώσῃeleutherōsēsets you free , στήκετεstēketeStand firm , καὶkaiand μὴ{do} not πάλινpalinonce more ζυγῷzygōby a yoke δουλείαςdouleiasof slavery . ἐνέχεσθεenechesthebe encumbered
2ἼδεIdeTake notice : ἐγὼegōI , ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul , λέγωlegōtell ὑμῖνhyminyou ὅτιhotithat ἐὰνeanif περιτέμνησθεperitemnēstheyou let yourselves be circumcised , ΧριστὸςChristosChrist ὑμᾶςhymasto you {at all} . οὐδὲνouden. . . ὠφελήσειōphelēseiwill be of no value
3μαρτύρομαιmartyromaiI testify δὲdevvv πάλινpalinAgain παντὶpantito every ἀνθρώπῳanthrōpōman περιτεμνομένῳperitemnomenōwho gets himself circumcised ὅτιhotithat ὀφειλέτηςopheiletēsobligated ἐστὶνestinhe is ὅλονholonwhole τὸνtonthe νόμονnomonlaw . ποιῆσαιpoiēsaito obey
4κατηργήθητεkatērgēthētehave been severed ἀπὸapofrom τοῦtouthe [One] ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ; οἵτινεςhoitines{You} who ἐνenby νόμῳnomō[the] law δικαιοῦσθεdikaioustheare [trying] to be justified τῆςtēsfrom χάριτοςcharitosgrace . ἐξεπέσατεexepesateyou have fallen away
5ἩμεῖςHēmeiswe γὰρgar[But] ΠνεύματιPneumatithrough [the] Spirit ἐκekby πίστεωςpisteōsfaith ἐλπίδαelpida[the] hope δικαιοσύνηςdikaiosynēsof righteousness . ἀπεκδεχόμεθαapekdechomethaeagerly await
6ἐνenin γὰρgarFor ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus οὔτεouteneither περιτομήperitomēcircumcision τιti. . . . ἰσχύειischyeihas any value οὔτεoutenor ἀκροβυστίαakrobystiauncircumcision ἀλλὰallaAll that matters is πίστιςpistisfaith , δι’di’through ἀγάπηςagapēslove . ἐνεργουμένηenergoumenēexpressed
7ἘτρέχετεEtrecheteYou were running καλῶςkalōsso well . τίςtisWho ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐνέκοψεenekopsehas obstructed ‹τῇ›the ἀληθείᾳalētheiatruth ? μὴvvv πείθεσθαιpeithesthaifrom obeying
8[Such] πεισμονὴpeismonēpersuasion οὐκouk[does] not [come] ἐκekfrom τοῦtouthe [One] καλοῦντοςkalountoswho calls ὑμᾶςhymasyou .
9μικρὰmikraA little ζύμηzymēleaven ὅλονholonwhole τὸtothe φύραμαphyramabatch [of dough] . ζυμοῖzymoiworks through
10ἐγὼegōI πέποιθαpepoithaam confident εἰςeis- ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐνenin ΚυρίῳKyriō[the] Lord ὅτιhotithat οὐδὲνouden. . . ἄλλοallo. . . . φρονήσετεphronēsetewill take no other view hoThe [one who is] δὲde- ταράσσωνtarassōntroubling ὑμᾶςhymasyou βαστάσειbastaseiwill bear τὸtothe κρίμαkrimajudgment , ὅστιςhostiswhoever ἂνan. . . ēhe may be .
11ἘγὼEgōI δέdeNow , ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , εἰeiif περιτομὴνperitomēncircumcision , ἔτιetivvv κηρύσσωkēryssōpreaching τίtiwhy ἔτιetivvv διώκομαιdiōkomaiam I still being persecuted ? ἄραaraIn that case κατήργηταιkatērgētaihas been abolished . τὸtothe σκάνδαλονskandalonoffense τοῦtouof the σταυροῦstauroucross
12ὌφελονOphelonI wish καὶkaivvv ἀποκόψονταιapokopsontaithey would proceed to emasculate themselves ! οἱhoiAs for those who ἀναστατοῦντεςanastatountesare agitating ὑμᾶςhymasyou ,
13ὙμεῖςHymeisyou , γὰρgarFor ἐπ’ep’to ἐλευθερίᾳeleutheriafreedom ; ἐκλήθητεeklēthētewere called ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , μόνονmononbut μὴ[do] not [use] τὴνtēn[your] ἐλευθερίανeleutherianfreedom εἰςeisas ἀφορμὴνaphormēnan opportunity τῇfor the σαρκίsarkiflesh . ἀλλὰallaRather , διὰdiain τῆςtēs- ἀγάπηςagapēslove . δουλεύετεdouleueteserve ἀλλήλοιςallēloisone another
14hoThe γὰρgar- πᾶςpasentire νόμοςnomoslaw ἐνenin ἑνὶhenia single λόγῳlogōdecree : πληροῦται,pleroutaiis fulfilled ἐνen. . . τῷ- ἈγαπήσειςAgapēseis“ Love τὸνton- πλησίονplēsionneighbor σουsouyour ὡςhōsas σεαυτόνseautonyourself .”
15εἰeiif δὲdeBut ἀλλήλουςallēlousone another , δάκνετεdakneteyou keep on biting καὶkaiand κατεσθίετεkatesthietedevouring βλέπετεblepetewatch out , μὴ[or] ὑπ’hyp’by ἀλλήλωνallēlōnone another . ἀναλωθῆτεanalōthēteyou will be consumed
16ΛέγωLegōI say , δέdeSo ΠνεύματιPneumatiby [the] Spirit , περιπατεῖτεperipateitewalk καὶkaiand ἐπιθυμίανepithymian[the] desires σαρκὸςsarkos[of the] flesh . οὐouvvv μὴvvv τελέσητεtelesēteyou will not gratify
17the γὰρgarFor σὰρξsarxflesh ἐπιθυμεῖepithymeicraves κατὰkatawhat is contrary τοῦtouto the ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit , τὸtothe δὲdeand ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit κατὰkatawhat is contrary τῆςtēsto the σαρκόςsarkosflesh . ταῦταtauta[They] δὲdeand ἀντίκειταιantikeitaiare opposed ἀλλήλοιςallēloisto each other , ἵναhinaso that μὴvvv ha. . . ἐὰνeanvvv θέλητεthelēteyou want . ταῦταtautawhat ποιῆτεpoiēteyou do not do
18εἰeiif δὲdeBut ΠνεύματιPneumati[the] Spirit , ἄγεσθεagestheyou are led by οὐκouknot ἐστὲesteyou are ὑπὸhypounder νόμονnomon[the] law .
19ΦανερὰPhaneraobvious : δέde- ἐστίestiI have τὰtaThe ἔργαergaacts τῆςtēsof the σαρκόςsarkosflesh ἅτινάhatina- ἐστίestiI have μοιχείᾳmoicheiaadultery . πορνείαporneiasexual immorality , ἀκαθαρσίαakatharsiaimpurity , ἀσέλγειαaselgeia[and] debauchery ;
20εἰδωλολατρίαeidōlolatriaidolatry φαρμακείαpharmakeia[and] sorcery ; ἔχθραιechthraihatred , ἘρεῖςEreisOne of you will say ζηλοῖzēloidoes not envy , θυμοίthymoi[and] rage ; ἐριθεῖαιeritheiairivalries , διχοστασίαιdichostasiaidivisions , αἱρέσειςhaireseisfactions ,
21φθόνοιphthonoi[and] envy ; φόνοιphonoimurder , μέθαιmethaidrunkenness , κῶμοιkōmoiorgies , καὶkaiand τὰtathe ὅμοιαhomoialike τούτοιςtoutois. . . . ha- προλέγωprolegōI warn ὑμῖνhyminyou , καθὼςkathōsas καὶkaiand προεῖπονproeiponI did before , ὅτιhotithat οἱhoithose τὰtasuch τοιαῦταtoiautathings πράσσοντεςprassonteswho practice βασιλείανbasileian[the] kingdom ΘεοῦTheouof God . οὐouvvv κληρονομήσουσινklēronomēsousinwill not inherit
22Hothe δὲdeBut καρπὸςkarposfruit τοῦtouof the ΠνεύματόςPneumatosSpirit ἐστινestinis ἀγάπηagapēlove , χαράcharajoy , εἰρήνηeirēnēpeace , μακροθυμίαmakrothymiapatience , χρηστότηςchrēstotēskindness , ἀγαθωσύνηagathōsynēgoodness , πίστιςpistisfaithfulness ,
23πρᾳότης,praotesgentleness , ἐγκράτειαenkrateia[and] self-control . κατὰkataAgainst τῶνtōnthings τοιούτωνtoioutōnsuch οὐκoukno ἐστίestiI have νόμοςnomoslaw .
24ΟἱHoiThose δὲde- τοῦtouwho [belong to] ΧριστοῦChristouChrist τὴνtēnthe σάρκαsarkaflesh ἐσταύρωσανestaurōsanhave crucified σὺνsynwith τοῖςtois[its] παθήμασιpathemasipassions καὶkaiand ταῖςtais- ἐπιθυμίαιςepithymiaisdesires .
25ΕἰEiSince ζῶμενzōmenwe live ΠνεύματιPneumatiby [the] Spirit , ΠνεύματιPneumatiby [the] Spirit , καὶkaivvv στοιχῶμενstoichōmenlet us walk in step
26μὴvvv γινώμεθαginōmethaLet us not become κενόδοξοιkenodoxoiconceited , ἀλλήλουςallēlous- προκαλούμενοιprokaloumenoiprovoking ἀλλήλοιςallēloisone another . φθονοῦντεςphthonountes[and] envying
