3ἀδιαλείπτωςadialeiptōs[and] continually μνημονεύοντεςmnēmoneuontesrecalling ὑμῶνhymōnyour τοῦtou- ἔργουergouwork τῆςtēs- πίστεωςpisteōsof faith , καὶkai- τοῦtou[your] κόπουkopoulabor τῆςtēs- ἀγάπηςagapēsof love , καὶkaiand τῆςtēs[your] ὑπομονῆςhypomonēsenduring τῆςtēs- ἐλπίδοςelpidoshope τοῦtouin ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist . ἔμπροσθενemprosthenbefore τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod καὶkaiand ΠατρὸςPatrosFather ἡμῶνhēmōnour

4εἰδότεςeidoteswe know ἀδελφοὶadelphoiBrothers ἠγαπημένοιēgapēmenoiwho are beloved ὑπὸhypoby ΘεοῦTheouGod , τὴνtēn- ἐκλογὴνeklogēn[that] He has chosen ὑμῶνhymōnyou ,

5ὅτιhotibecause τὸto- εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel ἡμῶνhēmōnour οὐκouknot ἐγενήθηegenēthēcame εἰςeisto ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐνenin λόγῳlogōword , μόνονmonononly ἀλλὰallabut καὶkaialso ἐνenin δυνάμειdynameipower , καὶkai- ἐνenin ΠνεύματιPneumatiSpirit , ἉγίῳHagiō[the] Holy καὶkaiand ἐνenwith πληροφορίᾳplērophoriaconviction — πολλῇpollēgreat καθὼςkathōsjust as οἴδατεoidateyou know οἷοιhoioi- ἐγενήθημενegenēthēmenwe lived ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhyminyou δι’di’for your sake ὑμᾶςhymas. . . .

6ΚαὶKaiAnd ὑμεῖςhymeisyou μιμηταὶmimētaiimitators ἡμῶνhēmōnof us ἐγενήθητεegenēthētebecame ΚαὶKaiAnd τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord δεξάμενοιdexamenoiwhen you welcomed τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonmessage ἐνenin [spite of your] θλίψειthlipseisuffering . πολλῇpollēgreat μετὰmetawith χαρᾶςcharas[the] joy ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit , ἉγίουHagiouof [the] Holy

7ὥστεhōsteAs a result , γενέσθαιgenesthaihave become ὑμᾶςhymasyou τύπουςtypousidols πᾶσιpasiall τοῖςtoisthe πιστεύουσινpisteuousinbelievers ἐνenin τῇtē- ΜακεδονίᾳMakedoniaMacedonia καὶkaiand ἐνen- τῇtē- ἈχαΐᾳAchaiaAchaia .

8ἀφ’aph’from ὑμῶνhymōnyou γὰρgarFor ἐξήχηταιexēchētairing out ὁho{did} the λόγοςlogosmessage τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord οὐounot μόνονmonononly ἐνen- τῇtē- ΜακεδονίᾳMakedoniaMacedonia καὶkaiand ἐνen- τῇtē- ἈχαΐᾳAchaiaAchaia . ἀλλὰallabut καὶkaialso ἐνenin παντὶpantievery τόπῳtopōplace , ἡhē- πίστιςpistisfaith ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἡhē- πρὸςprosin τὸνton- ΘεὸνTheonGod ἐξελήλυθενexelēlythenhas gone out ὥστεhōsteso that μὴmēno χρείανchreianneed ἡμᾶςhēmaswe ἔχεινecheinhave λαλεῖνlaleinto say τιtianything [more] .

9αὐτοὶautoithey themselves γὰρgarFor περὶperi- ἡμῶνhēmōn- ἀπαγγέλλουσινapangellousinreport ὁποίανhopoianwhat kind εἴσοδονeisodonof welcome ἔσχομενeschomenyou gave us πρὸςpros. . . ὑμᾶςhymas. . . , καὶkaiand πῶςpōshow ἐπεστρέψατεepestrepsateyou turned πρὸςprosto τὸνton- ΘεὸνTheonGod ἀπὸapofrom τῶνtōn- εἰδώλωνeidōlōnidols δουλεύεινdouleueinto serve ΘεῷTheōGod ζῶντιzōnti[the] living καὶkaiand ἀληθινῷalēthinōtrue
