2καὶkai[With] ἐνοσφίσατοenosphisatohe kept back ἀπὸapo[some] of τῆςtēsthe τιμῆςtimēsproceeds [for himself] , συνειδυίαςsuneiduiasfull knowledge , καὶkai[but] τῆςtēsthe γυναικόςgynaikoswife’s αὐτοῦautouhis καὶkai[With] ἐνέγκαςenenkasbrought μέροςmerosportion τιtia παρὰparaat τοὺςtousthe πόδαςpodasfeet . τῶνtōnvvv ἀποστόλωνapostolōnapostles’ ἔθηκενethēken[and] laid [it]
3ΕἰπέEipe“ Tell δὲde- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ἉνανίαHanania“ Ananias , διατίdiatiwhy ἐπλήρωσενeplērōsenhas filled ὁho- ΣατανᾶςSatanasSatan τὴνtēn- καρδίανkardianheart σουsouyour ψεύσασθαίpseusasthaito lie σεsevvv τὸtoto the ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit τὸto- ἍγιονHagionHoly καὶkaiand νοσφίσασθαιnosphisasthaiwithhold ἀπὸapo[some] of τῆςtēsthe τιμῆςtimēsproceeds τοῦtoufrom the χωρίουchōriouland ?
4οὐχὶouchivvv μένονmenonbefore it was sold ? σοὶsoito you ἔμενεemenelived καὶkaiAnd πραθὲνprathenafter it was sold , ἐνenat τῇtē- σῇsē[your] ἐξουσίᾳexousiadisposal ? ὑπῆρχε;uperkhe- τίtiHow ὅτιhoti- ἔθουethoucould you conceive ἐνenin τῇtē- καρδίᾳkardiaheart ? σουsouyour τὸto- πρᾶγμαpragmaa deed τοῦτοtoutosuch οὐκoukvvv ἐψεύσωepseusōYou have not lied ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoisto men , ἀλλὰallabut τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōto God ! ”
5ἈκούωνAkouōnOn hearing δὲde- ὁho- ἉνανίαςHananiasAnanias τοὺςtous- λόγουςlogouswords , τούτουςtoutousthese πεσὼνpesōnfell down ἐξέψυξε,exepsuxe[and] died . καὶkaiAnd ἐγένετοegenetocame φόβοςphobosfear μέγαςmegasgreat ἐπὶepiover πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtouswho ἀκούονταςakouontasheard [what had happened] . ταῦταtautathese [events] .
6ἀναστάντεςanastantesstepped forward , δὲdeThen οἱhoithe νεώτεροιneōteroiyoung [men] συνέστειλανsynesteilanwrapped up αὐτὸνautonhis [body] , καὶkaiand ἐξενέγκαντεςexenenkantescarried [him] out ἔθαψανethapsan[and] buried [him] .
7ἘγένετοEgeneto- δὲde- ὡςhōsAbout ὡρῶνhōrōnhours τριῶνtriōnthree διάστημαdiastēmalater καὶkaialso ἡhē- γυνὴgynēwife αὐτοῦautouhis μὴmēvvv εἰδυῖαeiduiaunaware of τὸtowhat γεγονὸςgegonoshad happened . εἰσῆλθενeisēlthencame in ,
8ἀπεκρίθηapekrithēsaid δὲde- αὕτηhautē[their] ὁhothe ΠέτροςPetrosPeter ΕἰπέEipe“ Tell μοιmoime , ” εἰei“ [is this] τοσούτουtosoutouthe price τὸtofor the χωρίονchōrionland ? ” ἀπέδοσθεapedostheyou [and your husband ] got ἩHē- δὲde- ΕἰπέEipe“ Tell ΝαίNai“ Yes , ” τοσούτουtosoutou“ that is the price . ”
9ὉHo- δὲde- ΠέτροςPetrosPeter [replied] ΕἰπέEipe“ Tell πρὸςpros- αὐτὴνautēn- , ΤίTi“ How ὅτιhoti- συνεφωνήθηsynephōnēthēagree ὑμῖνhymincould you πειράσαιpeirasaito test τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord ? ” ἰδοὺidou“ Look , οἱhoithe πόδεςpodesfeet τῶνtōnof the [men who] θαψάντωνthapsantōnburied τῶνtōnof the [men who] ἄνδραandrahusband σουsouyour ἐπὶepi[are] at τῇtēthe θύρᾳthyradoor , καὶkaiand ἐξοίσουσίexoisousithey will carry you out [also] σεse. . . . ”
10ἔπεσεepesefell δὲde- παραχρῆμαparachrēmaAt that instant παρὰparaat τοὺςtousthe πόδαςpodasfeet . αὐτοῦautouhis καὶkai[With] ἐξέψυξενexepsyxen[and] died . εἰσελθόντεςeiselthontescame in [and] , δὲdeThen οἱhoithe νεανίσκοιneaniskoiyoung [men] εὗρονheuronfinding αὐτὴνautēnher νεκράνnekrandead , καὶkai- ἐξενέγκαντεςexenenkantescarried [her] out ἔθαψανethapsan[and] buried [her] πρὸςprosbeside τὸνton- ἄνδραandrahusband . αὐτῆςautēsher
11ΚαὶKaiAnd ἐγένετοegenetocame φόβοςphobosfear μέγαςmegasgreat ἐφ’eph’over ὅληνholēnwhole τὴνtēnthe ἐκκλησίανekklēsianchurch καὶkaiand ἐπὶepi- πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtouswho ἀκούονταςakouontasheard about ταῦταtautathese [events] .
12ΔιὰDiavvv δὲde- τῶνtōnThe χειρῶνcheirōnvvv τῶνtōnvvv ἀποστόλωνapostolōnapostles ἐγίνετοeginetoperformed σημεῖαsēmeiasigns καὶkaiand τέραταteratawonders ἐνenamong τῷtōthe λαῷlaōpeople , πολλὰpollamany καὶkaiand ἦσανēsan[the believers gathered together] ὁμοθυμαδὸνhomothymadonwith one accord ἅπαντες*hapantes. . . ἐνenin τῇtē- στοᾷstoaColonnade . ΣολομῶντοςSolomōntosSolomon’s
13τῶνtōn- δὲdeYet λοιπῶνloipōnelse οὐδεὶςoudeisno one ἐτόλμαetolmadared κολλᾶσθαιkollasthaito join αὐτοῖςautoisthem . ἀλλ’all’Although ἐμεγάλυνενemegalynenregarded them highly αὐτοὺςautous. . . , ὁhothe λαόςlaospeople
14μᾶλλονmallonmore and more δὲdeYet προσετίθεντοprosetithentowere brought πιστεύοντεςpisteuontesbelievers τῷtōto the ΚυρίῳKyriōLord — πλήθηplēthēlarge numbers ἀνδρῶνandrōnmen τεteof both καὶkaiand γυναικῶνgynaikōnwomen .
15ὥστεhōsteAs a result κατὰkataaccording to τὰςtasthe πλατείαςplateiasstreets ἐκφέρεινekpherein[people] brought τοὺςtousthe ἀσθενεῖςastheneissick καὶkai- , τιθέναιtithenailaid [them] ἐπὶepion κλινῶν›klinōncouches for dining . καὶkaiand κραβάττωνkrabattōnmats , ἵναhinaso that ἐρχομένουerchomenouas he passed by . ΠέτρουPetrouPeter’s κἂνkanat least ἡhē- σκιὰskiashadow ἐπισκιάσῃepiskiasēmight fall on τινὶtinisome αὐτῶνautōnof them
16συνήρχετοsynērchetogathered δὲde- καὶkaialso τὸto- πλῆθοςplēthosCrowds τῶνtōnfrom the πέριξperixaround πόλεωνpoleōntowns ἸερουσαλήμIerousalēmJerusalem , φέροντεςpherontesbringing ἀσθενεῖςastheneis[the] sick καὶkaiand ὀχλουμένουςochloumenous[those] tormented ὑπὸhypoby πνευμάτωνpneumatōnspirits , ἀκαθάρτωνakathartōnunclean οἵτινεςhoitines[and] ἐθεραπεύοντοetherapeuontowere healed . ἅπαντεςhapantesall [of them]
17ἈναστὰςAnastasThey went out δὲdeBut ὁhothe ἀρχιερεὺςarchiereushigh priest καὶkaiand πάντεςpantesall οἱhoihis associates σὺνsyn. . . αὐτῷautō. . . , ἡhēwho οὖσαousabelonged αἵρεσιςhairesisparty τῶνtōnto the ΣαδδουκαίωνSaddoukaiōnof the Sadducees , ἐπλήσθησανeplēsthēsanwere filled ζήλουzēlouwith jealousy .
18καὶkaiand ἐπέβαλονepebalonarrested τὰςtas. . . χεῖραςcheiras. . . αὐτῶνautōnof them ἐπὶepion τοὺςtousthe ἀποστόλουςapostolousapostles καὶkaiand ἔθεντοethentoput αὐτοὺςautousthem ἐνenin τηρήσειtērēseijail . δημοσίᾳdēmosia[the] public
19ἌγγελοςAngelosan angel δὲdeBut ΚυρίουKyriouof [the] Lord διὰdiaduring τῆςtēsof the νυκτὸςnyktosthe night ἤνοιξεēnoixeopened τὰςtasthe θύραςthyrasdoors τῆςtēsof the φυλακῆςphylakēsjail ἐξαγαγώνexagagōn[and] brought them out , τεte- αὐτοὺςautousvvv ΕἰπέEipe“ Tell
20ΠορεύεσθεPoreuesthe“ Go , καὶkai- σταθέντεςstathentesstand λαλεῖτεlaleite[and] tell ἐνenin τῷtōthe ἱερῷhierōtemple [courts] τῷtōthe λαῷlaōpeople πάνταpantafull τὰtathe ῥήματαrhēmatamessage τῆςtēsof ΖωῆςZōēs[new] life . ” ταύτηςtautēsthis
21ἈκούσαντεςAkousantesas they had been told δὲde[When] εἰσῆλθονeisēlthon[the apostles] entered ὑπὸhypoAt τὸνton- ὄρθρονorthrondaybreak εἰςeis. . . τὸtothe ἱερὸνhierontemple [courts] καὶkaiand ἐδίδασκονedidaskonbegan to teach [the people] . ΠαραγενόμενοςParagenomenosarrived , δὲde[When] ὁhothe ἀρχιερεὺςarchiereushigh priest καὶkaiand οἱhoihis associates σὺνsyn. . . αὐτῷautō. . . συνεκάλεσανsynekalesanthey convened τὸtothe συνέδριονsynedrionSanhedrin — καὶkai- πᾶσανpasanfull τὴνtēnthe γερουσίανgerousianassembly τῶνtōnof the υἱῶνhuiōnvvv ἸσραήλIsraēlelders of Israel — καὶkaiand ἀπέστειλανapesteilansent εἰςeisto τὸtothe δεσμωτήριονdesmōtērionjail ἀχθῆναιachthēnai[for] αὐτούςautous[the apostles] .
22οἱhoithe δὲde[So] ὑπηρέταιhypēretaiofficers παραγενόμενοιparagenomenoion arriving οὐχouchvvv εὗρονheurondid not find αὐτοὺςautousthem [there] . ἐνenat τῇtēthe φυλακῇphylakējail , ἀναστρέψαντεςanastrepsantesthey returned δὲde[So] ἀπήγγειλανapēngeilanwith the report :
23λέγοντεςlegontes- ὅτιhoti- ΤὸTothe μὲνmen- δεσμωτήριονdesmōtērionjail εὕρομενheuromen“ We found κεκλεισμένονkekleismenonlocked , ἐνenvvv πάσῃpasēvvv ἀσφαλείᾳasphaleiasecurely καὶkai[with] τοὺςtousthe φύλακαςphylakasguards ἑστῶταςhestōtasposted πρὸproSome time ago τῶνtōn. . . θυρῶνthyrōndoors ; ἀνοίξαντεςanoixanteswhen we opened [them] , δὲdebut ἔσωesōinside . ” οὐδέναoudenano one εὕρομενheuromenwe found
24ὩςHōsWhen δὲde- ἤκουσανēkousanheard τοὺςtous- λόγουςlogousaccount , τούτουςtoutousthis ὅhothe τεte- ἱερεύςhiereuspriest καὶkaiand ὅhothe στρατηγὸςstratēgoscaptain τοῦtouof the ἱεροῦhieroutemple [guard] καὶkaiand οἱhoithe ἀρχιερεῖςarchiereischief priests διηπόρουνdiēporounthey were perplexed περὶperias to αὐτῶνautōn. . . τίtiwhat ἂνan. . . γένοιτοgenoitowas happening . τοῦτοtouto-
25παραγενόμενοςparagenomenoscame in δέdeThen τιςtissomeone ἀπήγγειλενapēngeilen[and] announced αὐτοῖςautois- , ὅτιhoti- ἸδοὺIdou“ Look , οἱhoithe ἄνδρεςandresmen οὓςhous- ἔθεσθεethestheyou put ἐνenin τῇtē- φυλακῇphylakējail εἰσὶνeisinare ἐνenin τῷtōthe ἱερῷhierōtemple [courts] ἑστῶτεςhestōtesstanding καὶkai- διδάσκοντεςdidaskontesteaching τὸνtonthe λαόνlaonpeople ! ”
26ΤότεToteAt that point , ἀπελθὼνapelthōnwent ὁhothe στρατηγὸςstratēgoscaptain σὺνsynwith τοῖςtoisthe ὑπηρέταιςhypēretaisofficers ἬγαγενĒgagen[the devil] led αὐτούςautous[the apostles] — οὐou[but] not μετὰmetaby βίαςbiasforce , ἐφοβοῦντοephobountofear γὰρgarfor τὸνtonthe λαόνlaonpeople ἵναhinaso that μὴmēvvv λιθασθῶσινlithasthōsinwould stone [them] .
27ἀγαγόντεςagagontesThey brought them in δὲde- αὐτοὺςautous. . . ἔστησανestēsan[and] made [them] stand ἐνenbefore τῷtōthe συνεδρίῳsynedriōSanhedrin , καὶkai[where] ἐπηρώτησενepērōtēseninterrogated αὐτοὺςautousthem . ὁhothe ἀρχιερεὺςarchiereushigh priest
28λέγωνlegōnhe said . [Οὐ]Ouvvv ΠαραγγελίᾳParangelia“ We gave you strict orders παρηγγείλαμενparēngeilamen. . . ὑμῖνhymin. . . μὴmēnot διδάσκεινdidaskeinto teach ἐπὶepiin τῷtō- ὀνόματιonomatiname , ” τούτῳtoutōthis καὶkai“ Yet ἰδοὺidou. . . πεπληρώκατεpeplērōkateyou have filled τὴνtēn- ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem τῆςtēswith διδαχῆςdidachēsteaching ὑμῶνhymōnyour καὶkaiand βούλεσθεboulestheare determined ἐπαγαγεῖνepagageinto make us responsible for ἐφ’eph’. . . ἡμᾶςhēmas. . . τὸto- αἷμαhaimablood . ” τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouman’s τούτουtoutouthis
29ἈποκριθεὶςApokritheisreplied δὲdeBut ΠέτροςPetrosPeter καὶkaiand οἱhoithe ἀπόστολοιapostoloiother apostles εἰπὼνeipōnHe said ΠειθαρχεῖνPeitharchein“ We must obey δεῖdeivvv ΘεῷTheōGod μᾶλλονmallonrather ἢēthan ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoismen .
30ὁhoThe ΘεὸςTheosGod τῶνtōnof πατέρωνpaterōnfathers ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἤγειρενēgeirenraised up ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus , ὃνhonwhom ὑμεῖςhymeisyou διεχειρίσασθεdiecheirisasthehad killed κρεμάσαντεςkremasantesby hanging [Him] ἐπὶepion ξύλουxyloua tree .
31τοῦτονtoutonHim ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod ἈρχηγὸνArchēgon[as] Prince καὶkaiand ΣωτῆραSōtēraSavior , ὕψωσεupsosehas exalted τῇtēto δεξιᾷdexiaright hand αὐτοῦautouHis δοῦναιdounai[ in order ] to grant μετάνοιανmetanoianrepentance τῷtō- ἸσραὴλIsraēlto Israel . καὶkai- ἄφεσινaphesinforgiveness ἁμαρτιῶνhamartiōnof sins
32καὶkaiand ἡμεῖςhēmeisWe ἐσμενesmenare αὐτοῦautouHis μάρτυρεςmartyreswitnesses τῶνtōnof ῥημάτωνrhēmatōnthings , τούτωνtoutōnthese καὶkaiand so [is] τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit , δὲde- τὸto- ἍγιονHagionHoly ὃhowhom ἔδωκενedōkenhas given ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod τοῖςtoisto those who πειθαρχοῦσινpeitharchousinobey αὐτῷautōHim . ”
33ΟἱHoi- δὲde- ἀκούσαντεςakousantesWhen [the Council members] heard this , διεπρίοντοdiepriontothey were enraged , καὶkaiand [[ἐβουλεύοντο]]ebouleuontothey resolved ἀνελεῖνaneleinto put [the apostles] to death αὐτούςautous. . . .
34ἈναστὰςAnastasstood up δέdeBut τιςtisa ἐνenin τῷtōthe συνεδρίῳsynedriōSanhedrin ΦαρισαῖοςPharisaiosPharisee ὀνόματιonomatinamed ΓαμαλιήλGamaliēlGamaliel , νομοδιδάσκαλοςnomodidaskalosa teacher of the law τίμιοςtimioswho was honored παντὶpantiby all τῷtōthe λαῷlaōpeople , ἐκέλευσενekeleusen[and] ordered that ἔξωexōoutside βραχὺbrachyfor a short time . τίtiwhat τοὺςtousthe ἀποστόλουςapostolousapostles [in] ποιῆσαιpoiēsaibe put
35ΕἰπέEipe“ Tell τῇtēthe πρὸςprosat αὐτοὺςautous. . . , ἄνδρεςandresmen ἸσραηλῖταιIsraēlitaiof Israel , ” προσέχετεprosechete“ consider carefully ἑαυτοῖςheautois. . . ἐπὶepito τοῖςtois- ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoismen . τούτοιςtoutoisthese τίtiwhat μέλλετεmelleteyou are about πράσσεινprasseinto do
36πρὸproSome time ago γὰρgar- τούτωνtoutōn. . . τῶνtōn. . . ἡμερῶνhēmerōn. . . ἀνέστηanestērose up , ΘευδᾶςTheudasTheudas λέγωνlegōnclaiming εἶναίeinaito be τιναtinasomebody , ἑαυτόνheauton. . . ᾧhō[and] προσεκλίθηproseklithējoined [him] . ἀριθμὸςarithmos- ἀνδρῶνandrōnmen ὡσεὶhōseiabout τετρακοσίωνtetrakosiōnfour hundred ὡςhōsabout ἀνῃρέθηanērethēwas killed , καὶkai- πάντεςpantesall ὅσοιhosoihis followers ἐπείθοντοepeithonto. . . αὐτῷautō. . . διελύθησανdielythēsanwere dispersed , καὶkaiand ἐγένοντοegenontoit all came εἰςeisto οὐδένoudennothing .
37μετὰmetaAfter τοῦτονtouton[him] , ἀνέστηanestēappeared ἸούδαςIoudasJudas ὁhothe ΓαλιλαῖοςGalilaiosGalilean ἐνenin ταῖςtaisthe ἡμέραιςhēmeraisdays τῆςtēsof the ἀπογραφῆςapographēscensus καὶkaiand ἀπέστησεapestesedrew away λαὸνlaonpeople ἱκανῶνhikanōna large ὀπίσωopisōafter αὐτοῦautouhim . κἀκεῖνοςkakeinosHe too ἀπώλετοapōletoperished , καὶkaiand πάντεςpantesall ὅσοιhosoihis followers ἐπείθοντοepeithonto. . . αὐτῷautō. . . διεσκορπίσθησανdieskorpisthēsanwere scattered .
38ΚαὶKaiSo τὰta- νῦνnynin the present [case] λέγωlegōI advise ὑμῖνhyminyou : ἀπόστητεapostēteLeave ἀπὸapo. . . τῶνtōn- ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnmen {alone} . τούτωνtoutōnthese καὶkai- ἐάσατεeasateallow αὐτούςautous. . . ! ὅτιhotiFor ἐὰνeanif ἡhē- ἐξexof ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnhuman origin , ᾖēis βουλὴboulēpurpose αὕτηhautē[their] ἡhē- τὸto- ἔργονergonendeavor τοῦτοtouto- καταλυθήσεταιkatalythēsetaiit will fail .
39εἰeiif δὲdeBut ἐκekfrom ΘεοῦTheouGod , ἐστινestinit is οὐouvvv δύνασθεdynastheyou cannot [do] καταλῦσαιkatalysaito stop αὐτῷautōto [Gamaliel] . μήποτέmepotethat at not time, lest ever καὶkai- θεομάχοιtheomachoifighting against God . ” εὑρεθῆτεheurethēteYou may even find yourselves
40ἘπείσθησανEpeisthēsanthey yielded δὲdeAt this , αὐτῷautōto [Gamaliel] . καὶkai- προσκαλεσάμενοιproskalesamenoiThey called τοὺςtousthe ἀποστόλουςapostolousapostles [in] δείραντεςdeirantesand had them flogged . παρήγγειλανparēngeilanThen they ordered [them] μὴmēnot λαλεῖνlaleinto speak ἐπὶepiin τῷtōthe ὀνόματιonomatiname τοῦtou- ἸησοῦIēsouof Jesus , καὶkaiand ἀπέλυσανapelysanreleased [them] . αὐτούςautousthem .
41ΟἱHoi[The apostles] μὲνmen- οὖνoun- ἐπορεύοντοeporeuontoleft χαίροντεςchairontesrejoicing ἀπὸapo. . . προσώπουprosōpou. . . τοῦtouthe συνεδρίουsynedriouSanhedrin , ὅτιhotithat ὑπὲρhyperfor τοῦtouthe ὈνόματοςOnomatosName . αὐτοῦautouhim . κατηξιώθησανkatēxiōthēsanthey had been counted worthy ἀτιμασθῆναιatimasthēnaiof suffering disgrace
42πᾶσάνpasanEvery τεte- ἡμέρανhēmeranday , ἐνenin τῷtōthe ἱερῷhierōtemple [courts] καὶkaiand κατ’kat’from οἶκονoikonhouse [to house] , οὐκoukvvv ἐπαύοντοepauontothey did not stop διδάσκοντεςdidaskontesteaching καὶkaiand εὐαγγελιζόμενοιeuangelizomenoiproclaiming the good news that ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus τὸνton[is] the ΧριστὸνChristonChrist .
