1ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul , ἀπόστολοςapostolosan apostle ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouof Christ διὰdiaby θελήματοςthelēmatos[the] will ΘεοῦTheouof God , ΤοῖςToisTo the ἁγίοιςhagioissaints τοῖςtois- οὖσινousin- ἐνenin ἘφέσῳEphesōEphesus , καὶkai- πιστοῖςpistois[the] faithful ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus :
2ΧάριςCharisGrace ὑμῖνhyminto you καὶkaiand εἰρήνηeirēnēpeace ἀπὸapofrom ΘεοῦTheouGod ΠατρὸςPatrosFather ἡμῶνhēmōnour καὶkaiand ΚυρίουKyriou[the] Lord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist .
3ΕὐλογητὸςEulogētosBlessed [be] ὁhothe ΘεὸςTheosGod καὶkaiand ΠατὴρPatērFather τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , ὁhowho εὐλογήσαςeulogēsashas blessed ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἐνenin πάσῃpasēevery εὐλογίᾳeulogiablessing πνευματικῇpneumatikēspiritual ἐνenin τοῖςtoisthe ἐπουρανίοιςepouranioisheavenly realms . ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist
4καθὼςkathōsFor καὶkaiand ἐξελέξατοexelexatoHe chose ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἐνenin αὐτῷautōHim πρὸprobefore καταβολῆςkatabolēs[the] foundation κόσμουkosmouof [the] world εἶναιeinaito be ἡμᾶςhēmas- ἁγίουςhagiousholy καὶkaiand ἀμώμουςamōmousblameless κατενώπιονkatenōpionin His presence αὐτοῦautou. . . . ἐνenIn ἀγάπῃagapēlove
5προορίσαςproorisasHe predestined ἡμᾶςhēmasus εἰςeisfor υἱοθεσίανhuiothesianadoption as His sons διὰdiathrough ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , εἰςeis. . . αὐτόνauton. . . κατὰkataaccording to τὴνtēnthe εὐδοκίανeudokiangood pleasure τοῦtouof θελήματοςthelēmatoswill , αὐτοῦautouHis
6εἰςeisto ἔπαινονepainon[the] praise δόξηςdoxēsglorious τῆςtēsof χάριτοςcharitosgrace , αὐτοῦautouHis ἐνenin ἡhēthe ἐχαρίτωσενecharitōsenHe has freely given ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἐνenin τῷtōthe ἨγαπημένῳĒgapēmenōBeloved [One] .
7ἐνenIn ᾧhō[Him] ἔχομενechomenwe have τὴνtēn- ἀπολύτρωσινapolytrōsinredemption διὰdiathrough τοῦtou- αἵματοςhaimatosblood , αὐτοῦautouHis τὴνtēnthe ἄφεσινaphesinforgiveness τῶνtōnof our παραπτωμάτωνparaptōmatōntrespasses , κατὰkataaccording to τῶνtōnof our πλουτῶνploutōnis not rich τῆςtēsof χάριτοςcharitosgrace αὐτοῦautouHis
8ἧςhēsthat ἐπερίσσευσενeperisseusenHe lavished εἰςeison ἡμᾶςhēmasus ἐνenwith πάσῃpasēall σοφίᾳsophiawisdom καὶkaiand φρονήσειphronēseiunderstanding .
9γνωρίσαςgnōrisas[And] He has made known ἡμῖνhēminto us τὸtothe μυστήριονmystērionmystery τοῦtou- θελήματοςthelēmatoswill αὐτοῦautouHis κατὰkataaccording to τὴνtēn- εὐδοκίανeudokiangood pleasure , αὐτοῦautouHis ἣνhēnwhich προέθετοproethetoHe purposed ἐνenin αὐτῷautō[Christ]
10εἰςeisas οἰκονομίανoikonomiana plan τοῦtoufor the πληρώματοςplērōmatosfullness τῶνtōnof καιρῶνkairōntime , ἀνακεφαλαιώσασθαιanakephalaiōsasthaito bring τὰta- πάνταpantaall things ἐνenin τὸtothe ΧριστῷChristōChrist τὰta- . ἐπὶepion τοῖςtois- οὐρανοῖςouranoisheaven καὶkaiand τὰta- ἐπὶepion τῆςtēs- γῆςgēsearth ἐνen{together} in αὐτῷautōHim
11ἐνen- ᾧhō- καὶkaivvv ἐκληρώθημενeklērōthēmenwe were also chosen as God’s own , προορισθέντεςprooristhenteshaving been predestined κατὰkataaccording to πρόθεσινprothesin[the] plan τοῦtouof [Him who] τὰta- πάνταpantaeverything ἐνεργοῦντοςenergountosworks out κατὰkataby τὴνtēnthe βουλὴνboulēncounsel τοῦtouof θελήματοςthelēmatoswill , αὐτοῦautouHis
12εἰςeisin order that τῷtō- εἶναιeinaiwould be ἡμᾶςhēmaswe , εἰςeisin order that ἔπαινονepainon[the] praise δόξηςdoxēsglory . αὐτοῦautouof His τοὺςtouswho προηλπικόταςproēlpikotaswere the first to hope ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ,
13ἐνenin ᾧhō[Him] , καὶkaiand ὑμεῖςhymeisyou ἀκούσαντεςakousanteshaving heard τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τῆςtēs- ἀληθείαςalētheiasof truth — τὸtothe εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel τῆςtēsof σωτηρίαςsōtēriassalvation — ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἐνen- ᾧhō- , καὶkaiand πιστεύσαντεςpisteusantesbelieved ἐσφραγίσθητεesphragisthētewere sealed τῷtōwith ΠνεύματιPneumatiSpirit τῆςtēs- ἐπαγγελίαςepangeliaspromised τῷtōthe ἉγίῳHagiōHoly
14ὡςhōswhen ἐστινestinis ἀρραβὼνarrabōn[the] pledge τῆςtēs- κληρονομίαςklēronomiasinheritance ἡμῶνhēmōnof our εἰςeisuntil ἀπολύτρωσινapolytrōsin[the] redemption τῆςtēsof those [who are] περιποιήσεωςperipoiēseōs[God’s] possession , εἰςeisto ἔπαινονepainon[the] praise τῆςtēsof δόξηςdoxēsglory . αὐτοῦautouHis
15ΔιὰDiaFor this reason τοῦτοtouto. . . , κἀγώkagōever since ἀκούσαςakousasI heard about τὴνtēn- καθ’kath’vvv ὑμᾶςhymasyour πίστινpistinfaith ἐνenin τῷtōthe ΚυρίῳKyriōLord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus καὶkaiand τὴνtēn[your] ἀγάπηνagapēnlove τὴνtēn- εἰςeisfor πάνταςpantasall τοὺςtousthe ἁγίουςhagioussaints ,
16οὐou{I have} not παύομαιpauomaistopped εὐχαριστῶνeucharistōngiving thanks ὑπὲρhyperfor ὑμῶνhymōnyou , μνείανmneianremembering you ὑμῶνhymōnyou , ποιούμενοςpoioumenosvvv ἐπὶepiin τῶνtōn- προσευχῶνproseuchōnprayers , μουmoumy
17ἵναhinathat ὁhothe ΘεὸςTheosGod τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , ὁhothe ΠατὴρPatērFather , τῆςtēs- δόξηςdoxēsglorious δώῃdōēmay give ὑμῖνhyminyou πνεῦμαpneuma[a] spirit σοφίαςsophiasof wisdom καὶkaiand ἀποκαλύψεωςapokalypseōsrevelation ἐνenin ἐπιγνώσειepignōsei[your] knowledge αὐτοῦautouof Him .
18πεφωτισμένουςpephōtismenousmay be enlightened , τοὺςtous[I ask that] the ὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmouseyes τῆςtēsof καρδίαςkardiasheart ὑμῶνhymōnyour εἰςeisso that τὸto- εἰδέναιeidenaimay know ὑμᾶςhymasyou τίςtis- ἐστινestin- ἡhēthe ἐλπὶςelpishope τῆςtēsof κλήσεωςklēseōscalling , αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand τίςtis- ὁhothe πλοῦτοςploutosriches τῆςtēsof δόξηςdoxēsglorious τῆςtēsvvv κληρονομίαςklēronomiasinheritance αὐτοῦautouHis ἐνenin τοῖςtoisthe ἁγίοιςhagioissaints ,
19καὶkaiand τίti- τὸtothe ὑπερβάλλονhyperballonsurpassing μέγεθοςmegethosgreatness τῆςtēsof δυνάμεωςdynameōspower αὐτοῦautouHis εἰςeisto ἡμᾶςhēmasus τοὺςtouswho πιστεύονταςpisteuontasbelieve . κατὰkata[ These are ] in accordance with τὴνtēnthe ἐνέργειανenergeianworking τοῦtou- κράτουςkratousstrength , τῆςtēsof ἰσχύοςischyosmighty αὐτοῦautouHis
20ἣνhēnwhich ἐνήργησενenērgēsenwas also at work ἣνhēnwhich τῷtō- ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἐγείραςegeiraswhen He raised αὐτὸνautonHim ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead καὶkaiand ἐκάθισενekathisen[and] sat down . ἐνenat δεξιᾷdexiaright hand αὐτοῦautouHis ἐνenat τοῖςtoisthe ἐπουρανίοιςepouranioisheavenly realms ,
21ὑπεράνωhyperanōfar above πάσηςpasēsall ἀρχῆςarchēsrule καὶkaiand ἐξουσίαςexousiasauthority , καὶkai- δυνάμεωςdynameōspower καὶkaiand κυριότητοςkyriotētosdominion , καὶkaiand παντὸςpantosevery ὀνόματοςonomatosname ὀνομαζομένουonomazomenouthat is named , οὐounot μόνονmonononly ἐνenin τῷtō- αἰῶνιaiōniage τούτῳtoutōthe present ἀλλὰallabut καὶkaialso ἐνenin τῷtōthe [one] μέλλοντιmellontito come .
22καὶkaiAnd πάνταpantaeverything ὑπέταξενhypetaxen[God] put ὑπὸhypounder τοὺςtous- πόδαςpodasfeet αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand αὐτὸνautonHim ἔδωκεedokegave [it] κεφαλὴνkephalēnhead ὑπὲρhyperover πάνταpantaeverything τῇtēfor the ἐκκλησίᾳekklēsiachurch ,
23ἥτιςhētiswhich ἐστίestiI have τὸto- σῶμαsōmabody , αὐτοῦautouHis τὸto- πλήρωμαplērōmafullness τοῦtouof [Him] τὰta- πάνταpantaall ἐνenin πᾶσιpasiall πληρουμένουplēroumenouwho fills
