3ΤίTiWhy δὲde- βλέπειςblepeisdo you look at τὸtothe κάρφοςkarphosspeck τὸto- ἐνenin τῷ- ὀφθαλμῷophthalmōeye τοῦtou- ἀδελφοῦadelphoubrother’s σουsouyour τὴνtēn- , δὲdebut ἐνenin τῷ- σῷyour [own] ὀφθαλμῷophthalmōeye ? δοκὸνdokon[the] beam οὐoufail κατανοεῖςkatanoeisto notice
4ē- πῶςpōsHow ἐρεῖςereiscan you say τῷto ἀδελφῷadelphōbrother , σουsouyour ἌφεςAphes‘ Let ἐκβάλωekbalōme take τὸtothe κάρφοςkarphosspeck ἀπὸapoof τοῦtou- ὀφθαλμοῦophthalmoueye . σουsouyour καὶkaiand ἰδοὺidou[there is still] - δοκὸςdokosa beam ἐνenin τῷ[own] ὀφθαλμῷophthalmōeye ? σοῦsouyour
5ὑποκριτάhypokritaYou hypocrite ! ἔκβαλεekbaletake πρῶτονprōtonFirst τὴνtēnthe δοκόνdokonbeam ἐκekout of τοῦtou- ὀφθαλμοῦophthalmoueye , σοῦsouyour [own] καὶkaiand τότεtotethen διαβλέψειςdiablepseisyou will see clearly ἐκβαλεῖνekbaleinto remove τὸtothe κάρφοςkarphosspeck ἐκekfrom τοῦtou- ὀφθαλμοῦophthalmoueye . τοῦtou- ἀδελφοῦadelphoubrother’s σουsouyour
6Μὴ{Do} not δῶτεdōtegive τὸtowhat is ἅγιονhagionholy ; τοῖςtois- κυσίνkysindogs μηδὲmēde{do} not βάλητεbalētethrow τοὺςtous- μαργαρίταςmargaritaspearls ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἔμπροσθενemprosthenbefore τῶνtōn- χοίρωνchoirōnswine . μήποτέmepotethat at not time, lest ever καταπατήσωσινkatapatesosinthey may trample αὐτοὺςautousthem ἐνenunder τοῖςtois- ποσὶνposinfeet , αὐτῶνautōntheir καὶkaiand στραφέντεςstraphentesthen turn [and] ῥήξωσινrhēxōsintear you to pieces ὑμᾶςhymas. . . .
7ΑἰτεῖτεAiteiteAsk , καὶkaiand δοθήσεταιdothēsetaiit will be given ὑμῖνhyminto you ; ζητεῖτεzēteiteseek , καὶkaiand εὑρήσετεheurēseteyou will find ; κρούετεkroueteknock , καὶkaiand ἀνοιγήσεταιanoigēsetai[the door] will be opened ὑμῖνhyminto you .
8πᾶςpaseveryone γὰρgarFor ho- αἰτῶνaitōnwho asks λαμβάνειlambaneireceives ; καὶkai- hohe who ζητῶνzētōnseeks εὑρίσκειheuriskeifinds ; καὶkaiand τῷto him who κρούοντιkrouontiknocks , ἀνοιγήσεταιanoigēsetai[the door] will be opened .
9Ē- τίςtisWhich ἐστινestin- ἐξexof ὑμῶνhymōnyou , ἄνθρωποςanthrōpos. . . ὃνhonif his ἐὰνean. . . , αἰτήσῃaiteseasks for ho- υἱὸςhuiosson αὐτοῦautou. . . ἄρτονartonbread , μὴ. . . λίθονlithona stone ? ἐπιδώσειepidōseiwill give αὐτῷautōhim

11εἰeiif οὖνounSo ὑμεῖςhymeisyou πονηροὶponēroievil ὄντεςonteswho are οἴδατεoidateknow how δόματαdomatagifts ἀγαθὰagathagood διδόναιdidonaito give τοῖςtoisto τέκνοιςteknoischildren , ὑμῶνhymōnyour πόσῳposōhow much μᾶλλονmallonmore ho{will} ΠατὴρPatērFather ὑμῶνhymōnyour ho{will} ἐνenin τοῖςtois- οὐρανοῖςouranoisheaven δώσειdōseigive ἀγαθὰagathagood things τοῖςtoisto those αἰτοῦσινaitousinwho ask αὐτόνautonHim !
12ΠάνταPantaIn everything οὖνounthen , ὅσαhosa. . . ἂνan. . . θέλητεthelēteyou would have ἵναhina- ποιῶσινpoiōsinthem do ὑμῖνhyminto you . οἱhoi. . . ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoi. . . οὕτωouto[this] καὶkai. . . ὑμεῖςhymeis- ποιεῖτεpoieitedo αὐτοῖςautoisto others οὕτωςhoutōsas γάρgarFor ἐστινestinis [the essence of] hothe νόμοςnomosLaw καὶkaiand οἱhoithe προφῆταιprophētaiProphets .
13ΕἰσέλθατεEiselthateEnter διὰdiathrough τῆςtēsthe στενῆςstenēsnarrow πύληςpylēsgate . ὅτιhotiFor πλατεῖαplateiawide [is] the πύληpylēgate καὶkaiand εὐρύχωροςeurychōrosbroad [is] the ὁδὸςhodosway that ἀπάγουσαapagousaleads εἰςeisto τὴνtēn- ἀπώλειανapōleiandestruction , καὶkaiand πολλοίpolloimany εἰσινeisin- οἱhoi- εἰσερχόμενοιeiserchomenoienter δι’di’through αὐτῆςautēsit .
14ΤίTiWhy στενὴstenēsmall [is] the πύληpylēgate καὶkaiand τεθλιμμένηtethlimmenēnarrow the ὁδὸςhodosway that ἀπάγουσαapagousaleads εἰςeisto τὴνtēn- ζωήνzōēnlife , καὶkaiand ὀλίγοιoligoionly a few εἰσὶνeisin- οἱhoi- εὑρίσκοντεςheuriskontesfind αὐτήνautēnit .
15ΠροσέχετεProsecheteBeware δέdebut ἀπὸapoBy τῶνtōn- ψευδοπροφητῶνpseudoprophētōnfalse prophets . οἵτινεςhoitines[They] ἔρχονταιerchontaicome πρὸςprosto ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἐνenin ἐνδύμασιendumasiclothing , προβάτωνprobatōnsheep’s ἔσωθενesōtheninwardly δέdebut εἰσινeisinthey are λύκοιlykoiwolves . ἅρπαγεςharpagesravenous
16ἀπὸapoBy τῶνtōn- καρπῶνkarpōnfruit αὐτῶνautōntheir ἐπιγνώσεσθεepignōsestheyou will recognize αὐτούςautousthem . μήτιmēti- συλλέγουσινsyllegousinAre grapes gathered ἀπὸapofrom ἀκανθῶνakanthōnthornbushes , σταφυλὴνstaphylēngrapes ēor ἀπὸapofrom τριβόλωνtribolōnthistles ? σῦκαsykafigs
17οὕτωouto[this] πᾶνpanevery δένδρονdendrontree ἀγαθὸνagathongood καρποὺςkarpousfruit , καλοὺςkalousgood ποιεῖpoieibears τὸto- δὲdebut σαπρὸνsaprona bad δένδρονdendrontree καρποὺςkarpousfruit . πονηροὺςponērousbad ποιεῖpoieibears
18οὐou. . . δύναταιdynataicannot δένδρονdendrontree ἀγαθὸνagathon[A] good καρποὺςkarpousfruit . πονηροὺςponērousbad ποιεῖν*poieinbear οὐδὲoudecannot δένδρονdendrontree σαπρὸνsapron[and a] bad καρποὺςkarpousfruit , καλοὺςkalousgood ποιεῖν*poieinbear
19πᾶνpanEvery δένδρονdendrontree μὴvvv ποιοῦνpoiounthat does not bear καρπὸνkarponfruit καλὸνkalongood ἐκκόπτεταιekkoptetaiis cut down καὶkaiand εἰςeisinto πῦρpyr[the] fire . βάλλεταιballetaithrown
20ἄραarathen γῇsoil ἀπὸapoby τῶνtōn- καρπῶνkarpōnfruit αὐτῶνautōntheir ἐπιγνώσεσθεepignōsestheyou will recognize αὐτούςautousthem .
21ΟὐOuNot πᾶςpaseveryone howho λέγωνlegōnsays μοιmoito Me , ΚύριεKyrie‘ Lord , ΚύριεKyrie‘ Lord , εἰσελεύσεταιeiseleusetaiwill enter εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēnthe βασιλείανbasileiankingdom τῶνtōnof οὐρανῶνouranōnheaven , ἀλλ’all’but only hohe who ποιῶνpoiōndoes τὸtothe θέλημαthelēmawill τοῦtou- ΠατρόςPatrosFather μουmouof My τοῦtou- ἐνenin τοῖςtois- οὐρανοῖςouranoisheaven .
22πολλοὶpolloiMany ἐροῦσίνerousinwill say μοιmoito Me ἐνenon ἐκείνῃekeinēthat τῇ- ἡμέρᾳhēmeraday , ΚύριεKyrie‘ Lord , ΚύριεKyrie‘ Lord , οὐou. . . τῷin σῷYour ὀνόματιonomatiname , προεφητεύσαμεν,proepheteusamendid we not prophesy καὶkaiand τῷ[in] σῷYour ὀνόματιonomatiname δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons ἐξεβάλομενexebalomendrive out καὶkaiand τῷ- σῷ- ὀνόματιonomati- δυνάμειςdynameismiracles ? ’ πολλὰςpollasmany ἐποιήσαμενepoiēsamenperform
23καὶkai- τότεtoteThen ὁμολογήσωhomologēsōI will tell them plainly αὐτοῖςautois. . . , ὅτιhoti- ΟὐδέποτεOudepote. . . ἔγνωνegnōn‘ I never knew ὑμᾶςhymasyou ; ἀποχωρεῖτεapochōreitedepart ἀπ’ap’from ἐμοῦemouMe , οἱhoi[you] ἐργαζόμενοιergazomenoiworkers τὴνtēn- ἀνομίανanomianof lawlessness ! ’
24ΠᾶςPaseveryone οὖνounTherefore ὅστιςhostiswho ἀκούειakoueihears μουmouof Mine τοὺςtous- λόγουςlogouswords τούτουςtoutousthese καὶkaiand ποιεῖpoieiacts on αὐτούςautousthem ὁμοιώσωhomoiōsōcan I compare αὐτῶνautōntheir ἀνδρὶandriman φρονίμῳphronimō[a] wise ὅστιςhostiswho ᾠκοδόμησενōkodomēsenbuilt τὴνtēn- οἰκίανoikianhouse αὐτοῦautouhis ἐπὶepion τὴνtēnthe πέτρανpetranrock .
25καὶkai- κατέβηkatebēfell , The βροχὴbrochērain καὶkai- ἦλθονēlthonraged , οἱhoithe ποταμοὶpotamoitorrents καὶkaiand ἔπνευσανepneusanblew οἱhoithe ἄνεμοιanemoiwinds καὶkaiand προσέπεσονprosepesonbeat against τῇ- οἰκίᾳoikiahouse ; ἐκείνῃekeinēthat καὶkaiand οὐκouk. . . , ἔπεσε·epesefell τεθεμελίωτοtethemeliōtoits foundation was γὰρgarbecause ἐπὶepion τὴνtēnthe πέτρανpetranrock .
26καὶkaiBut πᾶςpaseveryone howho ἀκούωνakouōnhears μουmouof Mine τοὺςtous- λόγουςlogouswords τούτουςtoutousthese καὶkaiand μὴvvv ποιῶνpoiōndoes not act on αὐτοὺςautousthem ὁμοιωθήσεταιhomoiōthēsetaiis like ἀνδρὶandriman μωρῷmōrōa foolish ὅστιςhostiswho ᾠκοδόμησενōkodomēsenbuilt τὴνtēn- οἰκίανoikianhouse αὐτοῦautouhis ἐπὶepion τὴνtēn- ἄμμονammonsand .
27καὶkai- κατέβηkatebēfell , The βροχὴbrochērain καὶkai- ἦλθονēlthonraged , οἱhoithe ποταμοὶpotamoitorrents καὶkaiand ἔπνευσανepneusanblew οἱhoithe ἄνεμοιanemoiwinds καὶkaiand προσέκοψανprosekopsanbeat against τῇ- οἰκίᾳoikiahouse , ἐκείνῃekeinēthat καὶkaiand ἔπεσενepesenit fell — καὶkaiand ἦνēnwas - πτῶσιςptōsiscollapse ! ” αὐτῆςautēsits μεγάληmegalēgreat
28καὶkaiand ἐγένετοegenetovvv ὅτεhoteWhen ἐτέλεσενetelesenhad finished ho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τοὺςtous- λόγουςlogoussaying τούτουςtoutousthese things , ἐξεπλήσσοντοexeplēssontowere astonished οἱhoithe ὄχλοιochloicrowds ἐπὶepiat τῇ- διδαχῇdidachēteaching , αὐτοῦautouHis
29ἦνēnHe γὰρgarbecause διδάσκωνdidaskōntaught αὐτοὺςautous- ὡςhōsas [one] ἐξουσίανexousianauthority , ἔχωνechōnwho had καὶkaiand οὐχouchnot ὡςhōsas οἱhoi- γραμματεῖςgrammateisscribes .
