2ΛειτουργούντωνLeitourgountōnwere worshiping δὲde[While] αὐτῶνautōnthey τῷtōthe ΚυρίῳKyriōLord καὶkaiand νηστευόντωνnēsteuontōnfasting , εἰπὲeipesay τὸtothe ΠνεῦμαPneumaSpirit τὸto- ἍγιονHagionHoly ἈφορίσατεAphorisate“ Set apart δήdē- μοιmoifor Me τὸνton- ΒαρνάβανBarnabanBarnabas καὶkaiand τὸνton- ΣαῦλονSaulonSaul εἰςeisfor τὸtothe ἔργονergonwork ὃhoto which προσκέκλημαιproskeklēmaiI have called αὐτούςautousthem . ”
3τότεtoteAnd νηστεύσαντεςnēsteusantesafter they had fasted καὶkaiand προσευξάμενοιproseuxamenoiprayed , καὶkai- ἐπιθέντεςepithentesthey laid αὐτοῖςautoison them τὰςtas[their] χεῖραςcheirashands ἀπέλυσανapelysan[and] sent [them] off .
4οὗτοιhoutoi[they] μὲνmen. . . οὖνounSo ἐκπεμφθέντεςekpemphthentessent forth ὑπὸhypoby τοῦtouthe ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit , τοῦtouthe ἉγίουHagiouHoly κατῆλθονkatēlthonwent down εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe ΣελεύκειανSeleukeianSeleucia ἐκεῖθένekeithenfrom there τεteand ἀπέπλευσανapepleusansailed εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe ΚύπρονKypronCyprus .
5καὶkai[When] γενόμενοιgenomenoithey arrived ἐνenat ΣαλαμῖνιSalaminiSalamis , κατήγγελλονkatēngellonthey proclaimed τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God ἐνenin ταῖςtaisthe συναγωγαῖςsynagōgaissynagogues . τῶνtōnvvv ἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnJewish εἶχονeichonwas with them δὲdeAnd καὶkai- ἸωάννηνIōannēnJohn ὑπηρέτηνhypēretēnas their helper .
6ΔιελθόντεςDielthontesThey traveled through δὲde- τὴνtēnthe νῆσονnēsonisland ἄχριachrias far as ΠάφουPaphouPaphos , εὗρονheuron[where] they found τινὰtinaa ἄνδραandravvv μάγονmagonsorcerer ψευδοπροφήτηνpseudoprophētēn[and] false prophet ἸουδαῖονIoudaionJewish ᾧhōvvv ὄνομαonomanamed Βαριησοῦς,bariesousBar-Jesus ,
7ὃςhos- ἦνēnvvv σὺνsynan attendant τῷtōof the ἀνθυπάτῳanthypatōproconsul , ΣεργίῳSergiōSergius ΠαύλῳPaulōPaulus . ἀνδρὶandria man συνετῷsynetōof intelligence , οὗτοςhoutos[The proconsul] , προσκαλεσάμενοςproskalesamenossummoned ΒαρνάβανBarnabanBarnabas καὶkaiand ΣαῦλονSaulonSaul ἐπεζήτησενepezētēsenbecause he wanted ἀκοῦσαιakousaito hear τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God .
8ἀνθίστατοanthistatoopposed δέdeThen αὐτοῖςautoisthem ἘλύμαςElymasElymas ὁhothe μάγοςmagossorcerer οὕτωhoutōso γὰρgar(for μεθερμηνεύεταιmethermēneuetaimeans ) τὸto- ὄνομαonomaname αὐτοῦautouhis ζητῶνzētōn[and] tried διαστρέψαιdiastrepsaito turn τὸνtonthe ἀνθύπατονanthypatonproconsul ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēsthe πίστεωςpisteōsfaith .
9ΣαῦλοςSaulosSaul , δέdeThen ὁhowho [was] καὶkaialso [called] ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul , πλησθεὶςplēstheisfilled with ΠνεύματοςPneumatosSpirit , ἉγίουHagiou[the] Holy καὶkaialso [called] ἀτενίσαςatenisaslooked directly πρὸςprosto αὐτῶνautōnthem
10εἶπενeipen[and] began to speak : ὁhoThe πλήρηςplērēs[you are] full παντὸςpantosof all kinds δόλουdolouof deceit καὶkaiand πάσηςpasēs- ῥᾳδιουργίαςrhadiourgiastrickery ! υἱὲhuiechild διαβόλουdiabolouof [the] devil ἐχθρὲechthre[and] enemy πάσηςpasēsof all δικαιοσύνηςdikaiosynēsrighteousness , οὐouvvv παύσῃpausēWill you never stop διαστρέφωνdiastrephōnperverting τὰςtasthe ὁδοὺςhodousways ΚυρίουKyriouLord ? τὰςtas- εὐθείαςeutheiasstraight
11καὶkaivvv νῦνnynNow ἰδοὺidoulook , χεὶρcheir[the] hand ΚυρίουKyriouof the Lord ἐπὶepi[is] against σέseyou , καὶkaiand ἔσῃesēyou will be τυφλὸςtyphlosblind [and] μὴmēvvv βλέπωνblepōnunable to see τὸνtonthe ἥλιονhēlionlight of the sun . ” ἄχριachrifor καιροῦkairoua time παραχρῆμαparachrēmaImmediately δὲde- ἔπεσενepesencame ἐπ’ep’over αὐτὸνautonhim , ἀχλὺςachlysmist καὶkaiand σκότοςskotosdarkness καὶkaiand περιάγωνperiagōnhe groped about , ἐζήτειezēteiseeking χειραγωγούςcheiragōgoussomeone to lead [him] by the hand .
12ΤότεTote[When] ἰδὼνidōnsaw ὁhothe ἀνθύπατοςanthypatosproconsul τὸtowhat γεγονὸςgegonoshad happened , ἐπίστευσενepisteusenhe believed , ἐκπλησσόμενοςekplēssomenosfor he was astonished ἐπὶepiat τῇtēthe διδαχῇdidachēteaching τοῦtouabout the ΚυρίουKyriouLord .
13ἈναχθέντεςAnachthentesAfter setting sail δὲde- ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēs- ΠάφουPaphouPaphos , οἱhoi[and] his companions περὶperi. . . τῶνtōn- ΠαῦλονPaulonPaul ἦλθονēlthoncame εἰςeisto ΠέργηνPergēnPerga τῆςtēs- ΠαμφυλίαςPamphyliasin Pamphylia , ἸωάννηςIōannēsJohn δὲde[where] ἀποχωρήσαςapochōrēsasleft ἀπ’ap’. . . αὐτῶνautōnthem ὑπέστρεψενhypestrepsento return εἰςeisto ἹεροσόλυμαHierosolymaJerusalem .
14ΑὐτοὶAutoithey δὲdeAnd διελθόντεςdielthontestraveled inland ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēs- ΠέργηςPergēsPerga , παρεγένοντοparegenonto. . . εἰςeisto ἈντιόχειανAntiocheianAntioch , τῆςtēs- Πισιδίας,pisidiasPisidian καὶkaiwhere εἰσελθόντες*eiselthontesthey entered εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēnthe συναγωγὴνsynagōgēnsynagogue τῇtēon the ἡμέρᾳhēmera. . . τῶνtōn- σαββάτωνsabbatōnSabbath ἐκάθισανekathisan[and] sat down .
15μετὰmetaAfter δὲde- τὴνtēnthe ἀνάγνωσινanagnōsinreading τοῦtoufrom the νόμουnomouLaw καὶkaiand τῶνtōnthe προφητῶνprophētōnProphets , ἀπέστειλανapesteilansent word οἱhoithe ἀρχισυνάγωγοιarchisynagōgoisynagogue leaders πρὸςprosto αὐτοὺςautousthem λέγοντεςlegontes- : ἌνδρεςAndresvvv ἀδελφοίadelphoi“ Brothers , εἴeiif ἐστινestinyou have λόγοςlogosword ἐνen. . . ὑμῖνhymin. . . παρακλήσεωςparaklēseōsof encouragement πρὸςprosfor τὸνtonthe λαόνlaonpeople , λέγετεlegeteplease speak . ”
16ἈναστὰςAnastasstood up , δὲde- ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul καὶkai- κατασείσαςkataseisasmotioned τῇtēwith [his] χειρὶcheirihand , εἶπενeipen[and] began to speak : ἌνδρεςAndres“ Men ἸσραηλῖταιIsraēlitai[of] Israel καὶkaiand οἱhoi[you Gentiles] who φοβούμενοιphoboumenoifear τὸνton- ΘεόνTheonGod , ἀκούσατεakousatelisten [to me] !
17ὁhoThe ΘεὸςTheosGod τοῦtouthe λαοῦlaoupeople τούτουtoutouof ἸσραὴλIsraēlof Israel ἐξελέξατοexelexatochose τοὺςtous- πατέραςpaterasfathers . ἡμῶνhēmōnour καὶkai- τὸνton- λαὸνlaonpeople ὕψωσενhypsōsenHe made them into a great ἐνenduring τῇtē[their] παροικίᾳparoikiastay ἐνenin γῇgē- ΑἰγύπτῳAigyptōEgypt καὶkaiand μετὰmetawith βραχίονοςbrachionosarm ὑψηλοῦhypsēlouan uplifted ἐξήγαγενexēgagenHe led αὐτοὺςautousthem ἐξexout of αὐτῆςautēs[that land] .
18καίkai- ὡςhōsabout τεσσαρακονταετῆtessarakontaeteforty years χρόνονchrononfor ἐτροποφόρησενetropophorēsenHe endured their conduct αὐτοὺςautous. . . ἐνenin τῇtēthe ἐρήμῳerēmōwilderness .
19καὶkaiAnd καθελὼνkathelōnhaving vanquished ἔθνηethnēnations ἑπτὰheptaseven ἐνenin γῇgē- ΧανάανChanaanCanaan , κατεκληρονόμησενkateklēronomēsen[to His people] as an inheritance . αὐτοῖςautoisthem τὴνtēn- γῆνgēnland αὐτῶνautōn{He gave} their
20καὶkai. . . μετὰmetaAfter ταῦταtautathis , ὡςhōs[All this took about] ἔτεσιetesiyears . τετρακοσίοιςtetrakosiois450 {} καὶkai. . . πεντήκονταpentēkonta. . . ἔδωκεedokegave [it] κριτὰςkritasjudges ἕωςheōsuntil the time ΣαμουὴλSamouēlof Samuel ‹τοῦ›touthe προφήτουprophētouprophet .
21κἀκεῖθενkakeithenThen ᾐτήσαντοētēsanto[the people] asked for βασιλέαbasileaa king , καὶkaiand ἔδωκενedōkengave αὐτοῖςautoisthem ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod τὸνton- ΣαοὺλSaoul[under] Saul υἱὸνhuionson ΚίςKisof Kish , ἄνδραandra- ἐκekfrom φυλῆςphylēs[the] tribe ΒενιαμίνBeniaminof Benjamin . ἔτηetēyears τεσσαράκοντα·tessarakonta[where for] forty
22καὶkaiand μεταστήσαςmetastēsasremoving αὐτὸνauton[Saul] , ἤγειρενēgeirenHe raised up αὐτοῖςautoistheir τὸνton- ΔαυὶδDauidDavid εἰςeisas βασιλέαbasileaking ᾧhō[about him] : καὶkaiand εἰπὲeipesay μαρτυρήσαςmartyrēsastestified ΕὗρονHeuron‘ I have found ΔαυὶδDauidDavid τὸνton[son] τοῦtou- ἸεσσαίIessaiof Jesse ἄνδραandraa man κατὰkataafter τὴνtēn[own] καρδίανkardianheart ; μουmouMy ὃςhos[he] ποιήσειpoiēseiwill carry out πάνταpantain its entirety . ’ τὰta- θελήματάthelēmatawill μουmouMy
23ΤούτουToutouof this [man] , ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod ἀπὸapoFrom τοῦtouthe σπέρματοςspermatosdescendants κατ’kat’as ἐπαγγελίανepangelianHe promised . ἤγαγεegage[the devil] led τῷtō- ἸσραὴλIsraēlto Israel σωτηρίανsōtēriansalvation
24προκηρύξαντοςprokēryxantospreached ἸωάννουIōannouJohn πρὸproBefore προσώπουprosōpou. . . τῆςtēsthe εἰσόδουeisodouarrival αὐτοῦautouof [Jesus] , βάπτισμαbaptismaa baptism μετανοίαςmetanoiasof repentance παντὶpantito all τῷtōthe λαῷlaōpeople ἸσραήλIsraēlof Israel .
25ὡςhōsAs δὲde- ἐπλήρουeplērouwas completing ὁho- ἸωάννηςIōannēsJohn τὸνton[his] δρόμονdromoncourse , ἔλεγε·elege[Jesus] declared τινὰtinaa μὴmēvvv ὑπονοεῖτεhyponoeitedo you suppose εἶναιeinaiam ? οὐκouknot [that One] . εἰμὶeimiam ἐγώegōI ἀλλ’all’But ἰδοὺidou- ἔρχεταιerchetaiHe is coming μετ’met’after ἐμὲememe οὗhouwhose οὐκouknot εἰμὶeimiI am ἄξιοςaxiosworthy τὸto- ὑπόδημαhypodēmasandals τῶνtōn. . . ποδῶνpodōn. . . λῦσαιlysaito untie . ’
26ἌνδρεςAndresvvv ἀδελφοίadelphoiBrothers , υἱοὶhuioichildren γένουςgenous. . . , ἈβραὰμAbraamof Abraham καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ἐνen- ὑμῖνhyminyou [ Gentiles ] who φοβούμενοιphoboumenoifear τὸνton- ΘεόνTheonGod , ἡμῖνhēmin[it is] to us ὁho[that] λόγοςlogosmessage τῆςtēsof σωτηρίαςsōtēriassalvation ταύτηςtautēsthis ἀπεστάληapestalēsent
27οἱhoiThe γὰρgar- κατοικοῦντεςkatoikountes[people] ἐνenof ἸερουσαλὴμIerousalēmJerusalem καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ἄρχοντεςarchontesrulers αὐτῶνautōntheir τοῦτονtouton[Jesus] , ἀγνοήσαντεςagnoēsantesdid not recognize καὶkaiyet τὰςtasthe φωνὰςphōnaswords τῶνtōnof the προφητῶνprophētōnprophets τὰςtasthat κατὰkata- πᾶνpanevery σάββατονsabbatonSabbath . ἀναγινωσκομέναςanaginōskomenasare read κρίναντεςkrinantesin condemning [Him] ἐπλήρωσανeplērōsanthey fulfilled
28καὶkaiyet μηδεμίανmēdemianno αἰτίανaitianground θανάτουthanatoufor a death sentence , εὑρόντεςheurontesthough they found ᾐτήσαντοētēsantothey asked ΠιλᾶτονPilatonPilate ἀναιρεθῆναιanairethēnaito have Him executed αὐτόνauton. . . .
29ὩςHōsWhen δὲde- ἐτέλεσανetelesanthey had carried out πάνταpantaall τὰtathat περὶperiabout αὐτοῦautouHim , γεγραμμέναgegrammenawas written καθελόντεςkathelontesthey took [Him] down ἀπὸapofrom τοῦtouthe ξύλουxyloutree ἔθηκανethēkan[and] laid [Him] εἰςeisin μνημεῖονmnēmeiona tomb .
31ὃςhos[He] ὤφθηōphthēwas seen ἐπὶepi[and] for ἡμέραςhēmerasdays πλείουςpleiousmany τοῖςtoisby those who συναναβᾶσινsynanabasinhad accompanied αὐτῷautōHim ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēs- ΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasGalilee εἰςeisto ἸερουσαλήμIerousalēmJerusalem . οἵτινεςhoitines[They] εἰσιeisiare μάρτυρεςmartyreswitnesses αὐτοῦautouHis πρὸςprosto τὸνton[our] λαόνlaonpeople .
32ΚαὶKaiAnd now ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe ὑμᾶςhymas. . . : εὐαγγελιζόμεθαeuangelizomethaproclaim to you the good news τὴνtēn- πρὸςpros- τοὺςtous[our] πατέραςpaterasfathers ἐπαγγελίανepangelian[What God] promised γενομένηνgenomenēn. . . ὅτιhoti- ταύτηνtautēn- ὁho- ΘεὸςTheos[He] ἐκπεπλήρωκεekpeplerokehas fulfilled τοῖςtoisfor τέκνοιςteknoischildren , [αὐτῶν]autōntheir ἡμῖνhēmin[it is] to us ἀναστήσαςanastēsasby raising up Jesus ἸησοῦνIēsoun. . . .
33ὡςhōsAs καὶkaivvv ἐνenin τῷtōthe ψαλμῷpsalmōPsalm : τῷtō- δευτέρῳdeuterōsecond γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written ΥἱόςHuiosSon ; μουmouMy εἶeiare σύsy‘ You ἐγὼegōI σήμερονsēmerontoday γεγέννηκάgegennēkahave become Your Father σεse. . . .’
34ὍτιHotiIn fact , δὲde- ἀνέστησενanestēsen[God] raised αὐτὸνautonHim ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead , μηκέτιmēketinever μέλλονταmellontato see ὑποστρέφεινhypostrephein. . . εἰςeis. . . διαφθοράνdiaphthorandecay . οὕτωςhoutōs. . . εἴρηκενeirēkenAs He has said ὅτιhoti- : ΔώσωDōsō‘ I will give ὑμῖνhyminyou τὰtathe ὅσιαhosiaholy [and] ΔαυὶδDauid[promised to] David .’ τὰta- πιστάpistasure [blessings]
35διὸdioSo καὶkaialso , ἐνenin ἑτέρῳheterōanother [Psalm] : λέγειlegeiHe says ΟὐOuvvv δώσειςdōseis‘ You will not let τὸνton- ὍσιόνHosionHoly One σουsouYour ἰδεῖνideinsee διαφθοράνdiaphthorandecay .’
36ΔαυὶδDauid[when] David μὲνmen- γὰρgarFor ἰδίᾳidiain his own γενεᾷgeneageneration , ὑπηρετήσαςhypēretēsashad served τῇtē- τοῦtouvvv ΘεοῦTheouGod’s βουλῇboulēpurpose ἐκοιμήθηekoimēthēhe fell asleep . καὶkai- προσετέθηprosetethē[His body] was buried πρὸςproswith τοὺςtous- πατέραςpaterasfathers αὐτοῦautouhis καὶkaiand εἶδεeidesaw διαφθοράνdiaphthorandecay .
37ὃνhonthe [One] δὲdeBut ὁhowhom ΘεὸςTheosGod ἤγειρενēgeirenraised from the dead οὐκoukvvv εἶδεeidesaw διαφθοράνdiaphthorandecay .
38ΓνωστὸνGnōstonknown οὖνounTherefore ἔστωestōlet it be ὑμῖνhyminto you , ἄνδρεςandresvvv ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , ὅτιhotithat διὰdiathrough τούτουtoutou[Jesus] ὑμῖνhyminto you . ἄφεσιςaphesis[the] forgiveness ἁμαρτιῶνhamartiōnof sins καταγγέλλεταιkatangelletaiis proclaimed
39καὶkai- ἀπὸapofrom πάντωνpantōneverything ὧνhōnfrom οὐκoukvvv ἠδυνήθητεēdynēthēteyou could not ἐνenby τὸtothat νόμῳnomō[the] law ΜωϋσέωςMōuseōsof Moses . δικαιωθῆναιdikaiōthēnaibe justified ἐνenby τούτῳtoutōHim πᾶςpaseveryone ὁhowho πιστεύωνpisteuōnbelieves δικαιοῦταιdikaioutaiis justified
40βλέπετεblepeteWatch out , οὖνounthen , μὴmēvvv ἐπέλθῃepelthēdoes not happen [to you] : ἐφ’eph’between ὑμᾶςhymas. . . : τῷtōthe εἰρημένονeirēmenonwhat was spoken ἐνenby τοῖςtoisthe προφήταιςprophētaisprophets
41ἼδετεIdete‘ Look , οἱhoi[you] καταφρονηταίkataphronētaiscoffers , καὶkai- θαυμάσατεthaumasatewonder καὶkaiand ἀφανίσθητεaphanisthēteperish ! ὅτιhotiFor ἔργονergona work ἐγὼegōI ἐργάζομαιergazomaiam doing ἐνenin ταῖςtais- ἡμέραιςhēmeraisdays ὑμῶνhymōnyour ἔργονergona work ὃho. . . οὐouvvv μὴmēvvv πιστεύσητεpisteusēteyou would never believe , ἐάνeaneven if τιςtissomeone ἐκδιηγῆταιekdiēgētaitold ὑμῖνhyminyou .’ ”
42ἘξιόντωνExiontōnwere leaving [the synagogue] , δὲde[As] αὐτῶνautōn[Paul and Barnabas] ἐκekfrom τῆςtēs- συναγωγῆςsynagōgēssynagogue τῶνtōnof the ἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnJews παρεκάλουνparekaloun[the people] urged τὰta- ἔθνηethnēGentiles . εἰςeisto ΤῷTōOn the μεταξὺmetaxynext σάββατονsabbatonSabbath . λαληθῆναιlalēthēnaito continue αὐτοῖςautoisthem τὰta- ῥήματαrhēmatamessage ταῦταtautathis
43λυθείσηςlytheisēswas dismissed , δὲde[After] τῆςtēsthe συναγωγῆςsynagōgēssynagogue ἠκολούθησανēkolouthēsanfollowed πολλοὶpolloimany τῶνtōnof the ἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnJews καὶkaiand τῶνtōn- σεβομένωνsebomenōndevout προσηλύτωνprosēlytōnconverts to Judaism τῷtō- ΠαύλῳPaulōPaul καὶkaiand τῷtō- ΒαρνάβᾳBarnabaBarnabas , οἵτινεςhoitineswho προσλαλοῦντεςproslalountesspoke αὐτοῖςautoisto them ἔπειθονepeithon[and] urged αὐτοὺςautousthem προσμένεινprosmeneinto continue τῇtēin the χάριτιcharitigrace τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God .
44ΤῷTōOn the δὲde- ἐρχομένῳerchomenōfollowing σαββάτῳsabbatōSabbath , σχεδὸνschedonnearly πᾶσαpasawhole ἡhēthe πόλιςpoliscity συνήχθηsynēchthēgathered ἀκοῦσαιakousaito hear τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God .

47οὕτωhoutōso γὰρgarFor ἐντέταλταιentetaltaihas commanded ἡμῖνhēminus : ὁhothe ΚύριοςKyriosLord ΤέθεικάTetheika‘ I have made σεseyou εἰςeis- φῶςphōsa light ἐθνῶνethnōnfor [the] Gentiles , τοῦtou- εἶναίeinaito bring σεse- εἰςeis. . . σωτηρίανsōtēriansalvation ἕωςheōsto ἐσχάτουeschatou[the] ends τῆςtēsof the γῆςgēsearth .’ ”
48ἈκούονταAkouontaheard [this] , δὲde[When] τὰtathe ἔθνηethnēGentiles ἔχαιρονechaironthey rejoiced καὶkaiand ἐδέξαντοedexanto[the people there] refused to welcome τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord , καὶkaiand ἐπίστευσανepisteusanbelieved . ὅσοιhosoiall who ἦσανēsanwere τεταγμένοιtetagmenoiappointed εἰςeisfor ζωὴνzōēnlife αἰώνιονaiōnioneternal
