17αὕτηhautē[This girl] κατακολουθήσασαkatakolouthesasafollowed τῷtō- ΠαύλῳPaulōPaul καὶkaiand τῷtō- ΣιλᾷSilaSilas . ἔκραζεekrazehe cried out λέγουσαlegousa. . . , ΟὗτοιHoutoi“ These οἱhoi- ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoimen δοῦλοιdouloiservants τοῦtouof the ΘεοῦTheouGod , τοῦtou- ὙψίστουHypsistouMost High εἰσίνeisinare οἵτινεςhoitineswho καταγγέλλουσινkatangellousinare proclaiming ἡμῖνhēmin[the rest of] us , ὁδὸνhodon[the] way σωτηρίαςsōtēriasof salvation ! ”

18ΤοῦτοToutothis δὲde- ἐποίειepoieiShe continued ἐπὶepifor πολλὰςpollasmany ἡμέραςhēmerasdays . διαπονηθεὶςdiaponētheisgrew so aggravated δὲde[Eventually] ὁho- ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul καὶkai[that] ἐπιστρέψαςepistrepsashe turned τῷtōto the πνεύματιpneumatispirit , εἰπὲeipesay ΠαραγγέλλωParangellōI command σοιsoiyou ἐνen“ In τῷtōto the ὀνόματιonomati[the] name ἸησοῦIēsouof Jesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ἐξελθεῖνexeltheinto come out ἀπ’ap’of αὐτῆςautēsher ! ” καὶkaiAnd ἐξῆλθενexēlthen[the spirit] left her αὐτῇautēat that τῇtē- ὥρᾳhōravery moment .

19ἸδόντεςIdontessaw δὲde[When] οἱhoi- κύριοιkyrioiowners αὐτῆςautēs[the girl’s] ὅτιhotithat ἐξῆλθενexēlthenwas gone , ἡhē- ἐλπὶςelpishope τῆςtēsof ἐργασίαςergasiasmaking money αὐτῶνautōntheir ἐπιλαβόμενοιepilabomenoithey seized τὸνton- ΠαῦλονPaulonPaul καὶkaiand τὸνton- ΣιλᾶνSilanSilas εἵλκυσανheilkysan[and] dragged [them] εἰςeisin τὴνtēnthe ἀγορὰνagoranmarketplace . ἐπὶepibefore τοὺςtousthe ἄρχονταςarchontasauthorities

20καὶkai- προσαγαγόντεςprosagagontesThey brought them αὐτοὺςautous. . . τοῖςtoisto the στρατηγοῖςstratēgoismagistrates εἰπὼνeipōnHe said ΟὗτοιHoutoi“ These οἱhoi- ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoimen ἐκταράσσουσινektarassousin[and] are throwing ἡμῶνhēmōnour τὴνtēn- πόλινpolincity {into turmoil} ἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiJews ὑπάρχοντεςhyparchontesare

21καὶkai[by] καταγγέλλουσινkatangellousinpromoting ἔθηethēcustoms ἃhathat οὐκoukvvv ἔξεστινexestinare unlawful ἡμῖνhēminfor us παραδέχεσθαιparadechesthaito adopt οὐδὲoude[or] ποιεῖνpoieinpractice . ” ῬωμαίοιςRhōmaioisRomans οὖσι.ousi. . .

22ΚαὶKai- συνεπέστηsynepestējoined in the attack ὁhoThe ὄχλοςochloscrowd κατ’kat’against αὐτῶνautōn[Paul and Silas] , καὶkaiand οἱhoithe στρατηγοὶstratēgoimagistrates περιρρήξαντεςperirrexantesthey be stripped αὐτῶνautōn. . . τὰta. . . ἱμάτιαhimatia. . . ἐκέλευονekeleuonordered that ῥαβδίζεινrhabdizein[and] beaten with rods .

25ΚατὰKataAbout δὲde- τὸto- μεσονύκτιονmesonyktionmidnight ΠαῦλοςPaulosPaul καὶkaiand ΣιλᾶςSilasSilas προσευχόμενοιproseuchomenoiwere praying ὕμνουνhymnoun[and] singing hymns τὸνtonto ΘεόνTheonGod , ἐπηκροῶντοepēkroōntowere listening δὲdevvv αὐτῶνautōnto them . οἱhoithe δέσμιοιdesmioi[other] prisoners

26ἄφνωaphnōSuddenly δὲdevvv σεισμὸςseismosearthquake ἐγένετοegeneto- μέγαςmegasa strong ὥστεhōste- σαλευθῆναιsaleuthēnaishook τὰtathe θεμέλιαthemeliafoundations τοῦtouof the δεσμωτηρίουdesmōtēriouprison . ἀνεῴχθησανaneōchthēsanbroke open , τε*teAnd παραχρῆμαparachrēmaAt once αἱhaithe θύραιthyraidoors πᾶσαιpasaiall καὶkaiand πάντωνpantōneveryone’s τὰta- δεσμὰdesmachains ἀνέθηanethēcame loose .

27ἜξυπνοςExypnoswoke up δὲde[When] γενόμενοςgenomenosvvv ὁhothe δεσμοφύλαξdesmophylaxjailer καὶkaiand ἰδὼνidōnsaw ἀνεῳγμέναςaneōgmenasopen , τὰςtasthe θύραςthyrasdoors τῆςtēs- φυλακῆςphylakēsprison σπασάμενοςspasamenoshe drew μάχαιρανmachairansword ἤμελλενēmellen[and] was about ἑαυτὸνheautonhimself , ἀναιρεῖνanaireinto kill νομίζωνnomizōnpresuming that ἐκπεφευγέναιekpepheugenaihad escaped . τοὺςtousthe δεσμίουςdesmiousprisoners

28ἐφώνησεephonese[and] called out δὲdeBut φωνῇ»phōnēvoice «μεγάλῃmegalēin a loud «‹ὁ›ho- Παῦλος»PaulosPaul λέγωνlegōn- , ΜηδὲνMēdennot πράξῃςpraxēs“ Do σεαυτῷseautōyourself ! κακόνkakonharm ἅπαντεςhapantesall γάρgar- ἐσμενesmenWe are ἐνθάδεenthadehere ! ”

29ΑἰτήσαςAitēsasCalling for δὲde- φῶταphōtalights , εἰσεπήδησε,eisepedese[the jailer] rushed in καὶkaiand ἔντρομοςentromostrembling {before} γενόμενοςgenomenosvvv προσέπεσεprosepese[and] fell down before τῷtō- ΠαύλῳPaulōPaul καὶkaiand ‹τῷ›tō- ΣιλᾷSilaSilas .

30καὶkaiThen προαγαγὼνproagagōnhe brought αὐτοὺςautousthem ἔξωexōout ἔφηephē[and] asked , ΚύριοιKyrioi“ Sirs , τίtiwhat μεmeI δεῖdeimust ποιεῖνpoieindo ἵναhinato σωθῶsōthōbe saved ? ”

31ΟἱHoi- δὲde- εἰπὼνeipōnHe said ΠίστευσονPisteuson“ Believe ἐπὶepiin τὸνtonthe ΚύριονKyrionLord ἸησοῦνIēsounJesus ΧριστὸνChristonChrist καὶkaiand σωθήσῃsōthēsēyou will be saved , σὺsyyou καὶkaiand ὁho- οἶκόςoikoshousehold . ” σουsouyour

32καὶkaiand ἐλάλησανelalēsan[Paul and Silas] spoke αὐτῷautōto him τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τοῦtouof the κυρίου*kyriouLord καὶkaiThen πᾶσιpasiall τοῖςtois. . . ἐνenin τῇtē- οἰκίᾳoikiahouse . αὐτοῦautouhis

35ἩμέραςHēmerasdaylight δὲde[When] γενομένηςgenomenēscame , ἀπέστειλανapesteilansent οἱhoithe στρατηγοὶstratēgoimagistrates τοὺςtous[their] ῥαβδούχουςrhabdouchousofficers λέγοντεςlegonteswith the order : ἈπόλυσονApolyson“ Release τοὺςtous- ἀνθρώπουςanthrōpousmen . ” ἐκείνουςekeinousthose

36ἀπήγγειλεapeggeileshe explained δὲde- ὁhoThe δεσμοφύλαξdesmophylaxjailer τοὺςtous. . . λόγουςlogous. . . τούτουςtoutous. . . πρὸςpros. . . τὸνton- ΠαῦλονPaulonPaul ὅτιhoti- : Ἀπεστάλκασινapestalkasinhave sent orders οἱhoi“ The στρατηγοὶstratēgoimagistrates ἵναhinato ἀπολυθῆτεapolythēterelease you . νῦνnynNow οὖνoun- ἐξελθόντεςexelthontesvvv πορεύεσθεporeuestheyou may go on your way ἐνenin εἰρήνῃeirēnēpeace . ”
