2ἔσονταιesontaiwill be γὰρgarFor οἱhoi- ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoimen φίλαυτοιphilautoilovers of themselves , φιλάργυροιphilargyroilovers of money , ἀλαζόνεςalazonesboastful , ὑπερήφανοιhyperēphanoiarrogant , βλάσφημοιblasphēmoiabusive , γονεῦσινgoneusinto [their] parents , ἀπειθεῖςapeitheisdisobedient ἀχάριστοιacharistoiungrateful , ἀνόσιοιanosioiunholy ,
3ἄστοργοιastorgoiunloving , ἄσπονδοιaspondoiunforgiving , διάβολοιdiaboloislanderous , ἀκρατεῖςakrateiswithout self-control , ἀνήμεροιanēmeroibrutal , ἀφιλάγαθοιaphilagathoiwithout love of good ,
4προδόταιprodotaitraitorous , προπετεῖςpropeteisreckless , τετυφωμένοιtetyphōmenoiconceited , φιλήδονοιphilēdonoilovers of pleasure μᾶλλονmallonrather ēthan φιλόθεοιphilotheoilovers of God ,
5ἔχοντεςechonteshaving μόρφωσινmorphōsina form εὐσεβείαςeusebeiasof godliness τὴνtēn- δὲdebut δύναμινdynaminpower . αὐτῆςautēsits ἠρνημένοιērnēmenoidenying καὶkai- τούτουςtoutous[such] as these ! ἀποτρέπουapotrepouTurn away from
6ἘκEkvvv τούτωνtoutōnthe kind who γάρgar- εἰσινeisinThey are οἱhoi- ἐνδύνοντεςendynontesworm their way εἰςeisinto τὰςtas- οἰκίαςoikiashouseholds καὶkaiand αἰχμαλωτίζοντεςaichmalōtizontescaptivate γυναικάριαgynaikariavulnerable women σεσωρευμέναsesōreumena[who are] weighed down ἁμαρτίαιςhamartiaiswith sins ἀγόμεναagomena[and] led astray ἐπιθυμίαιςepithymiaispassions , ποικίλαιςpoikilaisby various
7πάντοτεpantote[who are] always μανθάνονταmanthanontalearning καὶkai[but] μηδέποτεmēdepotenever εἰςeisto ἐπίγνωσινepignōsina knowledge ἀληθείαςalētheiasof [the] truth . ἐλθεῖνeltheinto come δυνάμεναdynamenaable
8ὃνhonJust as τρόπονtropon. . . δὲde. . . ἸάννηςIannēsJannes καὶkaiand ἸαμβρῆςIambrēsJambres ἀντέστησανantestēsanopposed ΜωϋσεῖMōuseiMoses , οὕτωhoutōso καὶkaialso οὗτοιhoutoithese ἀνθίστανταιanthistantaioppose τῇthe ἀληθείᾳalētheiatruth . ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoimen κατεφθαρμένοιkatephtharmenoiThey are depraved τὸνton- νοῦνnounin mind ἀδόκιμοιadokimoi[and] disqualified περὶperifrom τὴνtēnthe πίστινpistinfaith .
9ἀλλ’all’But οὐouvvv προκόψουσινprokopsousinthey will not advance ἐπὶepifurther . πλεῖονpleionmuch - γὰρgarFor ἄνοιαanoiafolly αὐτῶνautōntheir ἔκδηλοςekdēlosplain ἔσταιestaiwill be πᾶσινpasinto everyone . ὡςhōslike καὶkaijust ἐκείνωνekeinōn[Jannes and Jambres] ἐγένετοegeneto- ,
10ΣὺSyYou , δὲdehowever , παρηκολούθηκαςparēkolouthēkasyou have followed . μουmoumy τῇ- διδασκαλίᾳdidaskaliateaching , τῇ[my] ἀγωγῇagōgēconduct , τῇ[my] προθέσειprotheseipurpose , τῇ[my] πίστειpisteifaith , τῇ[my] μακροθυμίᾳmakrothymiapatience , τῇ[my] ἀγάπῃagapēlove , τῇ[my] ὑπομονῇhypomonēperseverance ,
11τοῖςtois[my] διωγμοῖςdiōgmoispersecutions , τοῖςtois[and the] παθήμασινpathēmasinsufferings οἷάhoiathat μοιmoime ἘγένοντοEgenontobecame ἐνenin ἈντιοχείᾳAntiocheiaAntioch , ἐνen- ἸκονίῳIkoniōIconium , ἐνen[and] ΛύστροιςLystroisLystra . οἵουςhoiousWhat διωγμοὺςdiōgmouspersecutions ὑπήνεγκαhypēnenkaI endured ! καὶkaiYet ἐκekfrom πάντωνpantōnall [of them] . μεmeme ἐρρύσατοerrysatorescued hothe ΚύριοςKyriosLord
12καὶkaiYet πάντεςpantesall δὲdeIndeed , οἱhoiwho θέλοντεςthelontesdesire εὐσεβῶςeusebōsgodly [lives] ζῆνzēnto live ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus διωχθήσονταιdiōchthēsontaiwill be persecuted ,
13πονηροὶponēroievil δὲdewhile ἄνθρωποιanthrōpoimen καὶkaiand γόητεςgoētesimposters προκόψουσινprokopsousingo [from bad] ἐπὶepito τὸto- χεῖρονcheironworse , πλανῶντεςplanōntesdeceiving καὶkaiand πλανώμενοιplanōmenoibeing deceived .
14ΣὺSy[as for] you , δὲdeBut μένεmenecontinue ἐνenin οἷςhoisthe things ἔμαθεςemathesyou have learned καὶkaiand ἐπιστώθηςepistōthēsfirmly believed , εἰδὼςeidōssince you know παρὰparafrom τινοςtinosa ἔμαθεςemathesyou have learned [them] .
15καὶkai- ὅτιhoti- ἀπὸapoFrom βρέφουςbrephousinfancy τὰtathe ἱερὰhieraHoly γράμματαgrammataScriptures , οἶδαςoidasyou have known τὰtathe δυνάμενάdynamenaare able σεsevvv σοφίσαιsophisaito make you wise εἰςeisfor σωτηρίανsōtēriansalvation διὰdiathrough πίστεωςpisteōsfaith τῆςtēs- ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus .
16πᾶσαpasaAll γραφὴgraphēScripture [is] θεόπνευστοςtheopneustosGod-breathed καὶkaiand ὠφέλιμοςōphelimosis useful πρὸςprosfor διδασκαλίανdidaskalianinstruction , πρὸςprosfor ἔλεγχον,elegkhonconviction , πρὸςprosfor ἐπανόρθωσινepanorthōsincorrection , πρὸςpros[and] for παιδείανpaideiantraining τὴνtēn- ἐνenin δικαιοσύνῃdikaiosynērighteousness ,
17ἵναhinaso that ἄρτιοςartioscomplete , ēmay be hothe τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God ἄνθρωποςanthrōposman πρὸςprosfor πᾶνpanevery ἔργονergonwork . ἀγαθὸνagathongood ἐξηρτισμένοςexērtismenosfully equipped
