2ΤῇTēTo the ἐκκλησίᾳekklēsiachurch τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God «τῇtē- οὔσῃousē- ἐνenin Κορίνθῳ»KorinthōCorinth , «ἡγιασμένοιςhēgiasmenois[to those] sanctified ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist Ἰησοῦ»IēsouJesus κλητοῖςklētois[and] called ἁγίοιςhagiois[to be] holy , σὺνsyntogether with πᾶσιpasiall τοῖςtoisthose ἐπικαλουμένοιςepikaloumenois[who] call on τὸtothe ὄνομαonomaname τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , ἐνenvvv παντὶpantivvv τόπῳtopōeverywhere αὐτῶνautōntheir [Lord] τῇtēthe καὶkaiand ἡμῶνhēmōnour
3ΧάριςCharisGrace ὑμῖνhyminto you καὶkaiand εἰρήνηeirēnēpeace ἀπὸapofrom ΘεοῦTheouGod ΠατρὸςPatrosFather ἡμῶνhēmōnour καὶkaiand ΚυρίουKyriou[the] Lord ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist .
4ΕὐχαριστῶEucharistōI always thank τῷtō- ΘεῷTheōGod ‹μου›moumy πάντοτεpantote. . . περὶperifor ὑμῶνhymōnyou ἐπὶepibecause of τῇtēthe χάριτιcharitigrace τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheou[He] τῇtē- δοθείσῃdotheisēhas given ὑμῖνhyminyou ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus .
5ὅτιhotiFor ἐνenin παντὶpantievery way , ἐπλουτίσθητεeploutisthēteyou have been enriched ἐνenin αὐτῷautōHim ἐνenin παντὶpantievery way , λόγῳlogōspeech καὶkaiand πάσῃpasēall γνώσειgnōseiknowledge ,
6καθὼςkathōsbecause τὸto[our] μαρτύριονmartyriontestimony τοῦtouabout ΧριστοῦChristouChrist ἐβεβαιώθηebebaiōthēwas confirmed ἐνenin ὑμῖνhyminyou .
7ὥστεhōsteTherefore ὑμᾶςhymasyou μὴmēvvv ὑστερεῖσθαιhystereisthaido not lack ἐνen. . . μηδενὶmēdeni[any] χαρίσματιcharismatispiritual gift ἀπεκδεχομένουςapekdechomenousas you eagerly await τὴνtēnthe ἀποκάλυψινapokalypsinrevelation τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist .
8ὃςhos[He] καὶkai- βεβαιώσειbebaiōseiwill sustain ὑμᾶςhymasyou ἕωςheōsto τέλουςtelous[the] end , ἀνεγκλήτουςanenklētous[so that you will be] blameless ἐνenon τῇtēthe ἡμέρᾳhēmeraday τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist .
9πιστὸςpistos[is] faithful . ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod , δι’di’- οὗhouwho ἐκλήθητεeklēthētehas called you εἰςeisinto κοινωνίανkoinōnianfellowship τοῦtou- ΥἱοῦHuiouSon αὐτοῦautouwith His ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist τοῦtou- ΚυρίουKyriouLord , ἡμῶνhēmōnour
10ΠαρακαλῶParakalōI appeal δὲde- ὑμᾶςhymasto you , ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , διὰdiain τοῦtouthe ὀνόματοςonomatosname τοῦtouthe ΚυρίουKyriouLord ἡμῶνhēmōnof our ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ΧριστοῦChristouChrist , ἵναhinathat τὸto. . . αὐτὸauto. . . , λέγητεlegēteyou agree together πάντεςpantesall of καὶkai[so that] μὴmēno ᾖēthere may be ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhyminyou σχίσματαschismatadivisions ἦτεēteyou may be δὲdeand [that] κατηρτισμένοιkatērtismenoiunited ἐνenin τῷtō- αὐτῷautō- νοῒnoimind καὶkaiand ἐνen- τῇtē- αὐτῇautē- γνώμῃgnōmēconviction .
11ἐδηλώθηedēlōthēhave informed γάρgar- μοιmoime περὶperi- ὑμῶνhymōn- ἀδελφοίadelphoibrothers , μουmouMy ὑπὸhypo- τῶνtōnsome ΧλόηςChloēsfrom Chloe’s household ὅτιhotithat ἔριδεςeridesquarrels ἐνenamong ὑμῖνhyminyou . εἰσι.eisiare
12λέγωlegōWhat I mean δὲde- τοῦτοtouto[is] this : ὅτιhoti- ἕκαστοςhekastosIndividuals ὑμῶνhymōnamong you λέγειlegeiare saying , ἘγὼEgō“ I μένmen- εἰμιeimi[follow] ΠαύλουPaulouPaul , ” ἘγὼEgō“ I δὲde- ἈπολλῶApollō[follow] Apollos , ” ἘγὼEgō“ I δὲde- ΚηφᾶKēpha[follow] Cephas ,” ἘγὼEgō“ I δὲde- ΧριστοῦChristou[follow] Christ . ”
13ΜεμέρισταιMemeristaidivided ? ὁho- ΧριστόςChristos{Is} Christ μὴmēvvv ΠαῦλοςPaulos{Was} Paul ἐσταυρώθηestaurōthēcrucified ὑπὲρhyperfor ὑμῶνhymōnyou ? ἢē- εἰςeisinto τὸtothe ὄνομαonomaname ΠαύλουPaulouof Paul ? ἐβαπτίσθητεebaptisthēteWere you baptized
14εὐχαριστῶeucharistōI thank τῷtō- θεῷtheōGod ὅτιhotithat οὐδέναoudena. . . ὑμῶνhymōnof you ἐβάπτισαebaptisaI did not baptize any εἰeiexcept μὴmē. . . ΚρίσπονKrisponCrispus καὶkaiand ΓάϊονGaionGaius ,
15ἵναhinaso μήmēno τιςtisone εἴπῃeipēcan say ὅτιhotithat εἰςeisinto τὸto- ἐμὸνemonmy ὄνομαonomaname . ἐβάπτισαebaptisaI also baptized
16ἐβάπτισαebaptisaI also baptized δὲdeYes , καὶkaivvv τὸνtonthe ΣτεφανᾶStephanaof Stephanas ; οἶκονoikonhousehold λοιπὸνloiponbeyond that οὐκoukvvv οἶδαoidaI do not remember εἴeiif τιναtinaanyone ἄλλονallonelse . ἐβάπτισαebaptisaI baptized
17οὐou{did} not γὰρgarFor ἀπέστειλέapesteileHe sent them out μεmeme ΧριστὸςChristosChrist βαπτίζεινbaptizeinto baptize , ἀλλ’all’Instead , εὐαγγελίζεσθαιeuangelizesthaito preach the gospel , οὐκouknot ἐνenwith σοφίᾳsophiaof wisdom , λόγουlogouwords ἵναhinalest μὴmē. . . κενωθῇkenōthēbe emptied of [its] power . ὉHothe σταυρὸςstauroscross τοῦtouof ΧριστοῦChristouChrist
18ὉHothe λόγοςlogosmessage γὰρgarFor ὉHothe τοῦtouof the σταυροῦstauroucross τοῖςtoisto those who μὲνmen- ἀπολλυμένοιςapollymenoisare perishing , μωρίαmōriafoolishness ἐστίestiI have τοῖςtoisto those who δὲdebut σῳζομένοιςsōzomenoisare being saved ἡμῖνhēminto us who δύναμιςdynamis[the] power ΘεοῦTheouof God . ἐστίestiI have
19γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written : γάρgarFor ἈπολῶApolō“ I will destroy τὴνtēnthe σοφίανsophianwisdom τῶνtōnof the σοφῶνsophōnwise ; καὶkai- τὴνtēnthe σύνεσινsynesinintelligence τῶνtōnof the συνετῶνsynetōnintelligent ἀθετήσωathetēsōI will frustrate .”
20ΠοῦPouWhere [is the] σοφόςsophoswise [man] ? ποῦpouWhere [is] γραμματεύςgrammateus[the] scribe ? ποῦpouWhere [is] συζητητὴςsyzētētēs[the] philosopher τοῦtou- αἰῶνοςaiōnosage ? τούτουtoutouof this οὐχὶouchi{Has} not ἐμώρανενemōranenmade foolish ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod τὴνtēnthe σοφίανsophianwisdom τοῦtouof the κόσμουkosmouworld ? τούτουtoutouof this
21ἐπειδὴepeidēsince γὰρgarFor ἐνenin τῇtēthe σοφίᾳsophiawisdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God οὐκouk{did} not ἔγνωegnōknow ὁho- κόσμοςkosmosworld διὰdiathrough τῆςtēs[its] σοφίαςsophiaswisdom τὸνton- ΘεόνTheon[Him] , εὐδόκησενeudokēsenwas pleased ὁho- ΘεὸςTheosGod διὰdiathrough τῆςtēsthe μωρίαςmōriasfoolishness τοῦtouof what κηρύγματοςkērygmatoswas preached σῶσαιsōsaito save τοὺςtousthose who πιστεύονταςpisteuontasbelieve .
22ἘπειδὴEpeidē- καὶkai- ἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiJews σημεῖονsēmeionmiracle . αἰτοῦσιaitousiask καὶkai- ἝλληνεςHellēnesGreeks σοφίανsophianwisdom , ζητοῦσινzētousinsearch for
23ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe δὲdebut κηρύσσομενkēryssomenpreach ΧριστὸνChristonChrist ἐσταυρωμένονestaurōmenoncrucified , ἸουδαίοιςIoudaioisto Jews μὲνmen- σκάνδαλονskandalona stumbling block Ἕλλησιellesito Greeks δὲdeand μωρίανmōrianfoolishness
24αὐτοῖςautoisto those δὲdebut τοῖςtoiswho κλητοῖςklētoisare called , ἸουδαίοιςIoudaioisJews τεteboth καὶkaiand Ἕλλησι,ellesito Greeks ΧριστὸνChristonChrist ΘεοῦTheouof God δύναμινdynamin[the] power καὶkaiand ΘεοῦTheouof God σοφίανsophian[the] wisdom
25ὍτιHotiFor τὸtothe μωρὸνmōronfoolishness τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God σοφώτερονsophōteronwiser τῶνtōn- ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnthan man’s [wisdom] , ἐστίestiI have καὶkaiand τὸtothe ἀσθενὲςasthenesweakness τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God ἰσχυρότερονischyroteron[is] stronger τῶνtōn- ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnthan man’s [strength] . ἐστίestiI have
26ΒλέπετεBlepeteconsider γὰρgar- τὴνtēn- κλῆσινklēsincalling : ὑμῶνhymōn[ the time of ] your ἀδελφοίadelphoiBrothers , ὅτιhoti- οὐouNot πολλοὶpolloimany [of you] σοφοὶsophoi[were] wise κατὰkataby human standards σάρκαsarka. . . ; οὐounot πολλοὶpolloimany [were] δυνατοίdynatoipowerful ; οὐounot πολλοὶpolloimany [were] εὐγενεῖςeugeneisof noble birth .
27ἀλλὰallaBut τὰtathe μωρὰmōrafoolish things τοῦtouof the κόσμουkosmouworld ἐξελέξατοexelexatochose ὁho- ΘεόςTheosGod ἵναhinato τοὺςtousthe σοφούςsophouswise ; καταισχύνῃkataischynēshame καὶkai- τὰtathe ἀσθενῆasthenēweak things τοῦtouof the κόσμουkosmouworld ἐξελέξατοexelexatochose ὁho- ΘεόςTheos[He] ἵναhinato καταισχύνῃkataischynēshame τὰtathe ἰσχυράischyrastrong .
28καὶkai- τὰtathe ἀγενῆagenēlowly τοῦtouof the κόσμουkosmouworld , (καὶ)kaiand τὰtathe things that ἐξουθενημέναexouthenēmenadespised ἐξελέξατοexelexatochose ὁho- ΘεόςTheos[He] καὶkai- τὰtathe μὴmēnot , ὄνταontaare ἵναhinato τὰtathe things that ὄνταontaare , καταργήσῃkatargēsēnullify
29ὅπωςhopōsso that μὴmēno καυχήσηταιkauchēsētaimay boast πᾶσαpasavvv σὰρξsarx[one] ἐνώπιονenōpionin [His] presence τοῦtou. . . ΘεοῦTheou. . . .
30ἘξExbecause of αὐτοῦautouHim [that] δὲde[It is] ὑμεῖςhymeisyou ἐστεesteare ἐνenin ΧριστῷChristōChrist ἸησοῦIēsouJesus , ὃςhoswho ἐγενήθηegenēthēhas become ἡμῖνhēminfor us σοφίαsophiawisdom ἀπὸapofrom ΘεοῦTheouGod : δικαιοσύνηdikaiosynē[our] righteousness , τεte- καὶkai- ἁγιασμὸςhagiasmosholiness , καὶkaiand ἀπολύτρωσιςapolytrōsisredemption .
31ἵναhinaTherefore , καθὼςkathōsas γέγραπταιgegraptaiit is written : ὉHo“ {Let} him who καυχώμενοςkauchōmenosboasts ἐνenin ΚυρίῳKyriō[the] Lord .” καυχάσθωkauchasthōboast
