4ΤὸTo- βάπτισμαbaptismabaptism — ἸωάννουIōannouJohn’s ἐξexfrom οὐρανοῦouranouheaven , ἦνēnwas it ἢēor ἐξexfrom ἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnmen ? ”
5ΟἱHoi- δὲde- συνελογίσαντοsynelogisantoThey deliberated πρὸςprosamong ἑαυτοὺςheautousthemselves λέγοντεςlegontes[and] said , ὅτιhoti- ἘὰνEan“ If εἴπωμενeipōmenwe say , ἘξEx‘ From οὐρανοῦouranouheaven , ’ ἐρεῖereiHe will ask , διατίdiatiwhy οὖνounthen οὐκoukvvv ἐπιστεύσατεepisteusatedid you not believe αὐτῷautōhim ? ’

7ΚαὶKaiSo ἀπεκρίθησανapekrithēsanthey answered [that] μὴmēvvv εἰδέναιeidenaithey did not know πόθενpothenwhere [it was] from .

10ΤὸTo- καιρῷkairōAt harvest time , ἀπέστειλεapesteileHe sent them out πρὸςprosto τοὺςtousthe γεωργοὺςgeōrgoustenants δοῦλονdoulona servant ἵναhinato ἀπὸapo[his share] τοῦtouof the καρποῦkarpoufruit τοῦtouof the ἀμπελῶνοςampelōnosvineyard . δώσωσινdososinwill be poured αὐτῷautō. . . οἱhoithe δὲdeBut γεωργοὶgeōrgoitenants δείραντεςdeirantesbeat [the servant] αὐτὸνauton. . . ἐξαπέστειλανexapesteilan[and] sent him away κενόνkenonempty-handed .

12ΚαὶKaiThen προσέθετοprosethetovvv πέμψαιpempsaihe sent τρίτονtritona third , οἱhoi- δὲdebut καὶkai. . . τοῦτονtoutonhim τραυματίσαντεςtraumatisantesthey wounded ἐξέβαλονexebalon[and] threw [him] out .
13εἰπὲeipesay δὲde- ὁhothe κύριοςkyriosowner τοῦtouof the ἀμπελῶνοςampelōnosvineyard . ΤίTi‘ What ποιήσωpoiēsōshall I do ? ’ πέμψωpempsō‘ I will send τὸνton- υἱόνhuionson . μουmoumy τὸνton- ἀγαπητόνagapētonbeloved ἴσωςisōsPerhaps τοῦτονtoutonhim . ’ ἸδόντεςIdontessaw ἐντραπήσονταιentrapēsontaithey will respect

15καὶkaiSo ἐκβαλόντεςekbalontesthey threw αὐτὸνautonhim ἔξωexōout of τοῦtouthe ἀμπελῶνοςampelōnosvineyard ἀπέκτεινανapekteinan[and] killed [him] . ΤίTiWhat οὖνounthen ποιήσειpoiēseido αὐτοῖςautoisto them ? ὁho{will} the κύριοςkyriosowner τοῦtouof the ἀμπελῶνοςampelōnosvineyard
16ἐλεύσεταιeleusetaiHe will come καὶkaiand ἀπολέσειapoleseikill τοὺςtous- γεωργοὺςgeōrgoustenants , τούτουςtoutousthose καὶkaiand δώσειdōseiwill give τὸνtonthe ἀμπελῶναampelōnavineyard ἄλλοιςalloisto others . ” ἈκούσαντεςAkousantes[when the people] heard [this] , δὲdeAnd ΕἰπὸνEipon“ Tell μὴmēvvv γένοιτοgenoitoMay such a thing never happen ! ”
17ὉHo- δὲdeBut ἐμβλέψαςemblepsas[Jesus] looked directly at αὐτοῖςautoisthem εἰπὲeipesay ΤίTiwhat οὖνoun“ Then ἐστιestiis τὸtothat which γεγραμμένονgegrammenonis written : τοῦτοtoutothe meaning of ΛίθονLithon‘ [The] stone ὃνhon- ἀπεδοκίμασανapedokimasanrejected οἱhoithe οἰκοδομοῦντεςoikodomountesbuilders ΟὗτοςHoutos- ἐγενήθηegenēthēhas become εἰςeis. . . κεφαλὴνkephalēn[the] cornerstone γωνίαςgōnias. . . ’ ?

24ΔείξατέDeixate“ Show μοιmoiMe δηνάριονdēnariona denarius . τίνοςtinosWhose ἔχειecheiare on it ? ” εἰκόναeikonaimage καὶkaiand ἐπιγραφήνepigraphēninscription ἈποκριθέντεςApokrithentesanswered δέde- ΕἰπὸνEipon“ Tell ΚαίσαροςKaisaros“ Caesar’s , ”

27ΠροσελθόντεςProselthontescame δέdeThen τινεςtinessome τῶνtōnof the ΣαδδουκαίωνSaddoukaiōnSadducees , οἱhoiwho λέγοντεςlegontesthey said , μὴmē. . . εἶναιeinai. . . ἀνάστασινanastasinresurrection , ἐπηρώτησανepērōtēsanto question αὐτὸνautonHim .
28λέγοντεςlegontesthey said , ΔιδάσκαλεDidaskale“ Teacher , ” ΜωϋσῆςMōusēs“ Moses ἔγραψενegrapsenwrote ἡμῖνhēminfor us ἐάνeanthat if τινοςtinosa man’s ἀδελφὸςadelphosbrother ἀποθάνῃapothanēdies ἔχωνechōn[and] leaves γυναῖκαgynaikaa wife καὶkaibut οὗτοςhoutosvvv ἄτεκνοςateknosno children , ἀποθάνῃapothanēdies ἵναhina- λάβῃlabēis to marry ὁhovvv ἀδελφὸςadelphos[the man] αὐτοῦautouvvv τὴνtēn[his brother’s] γυναῖκαgynaika[widow] καὶkaiand ἐξαναστήσῃexanastēsēraise up σπέρμαspermaoffspring τῷtōfor ἀδελφῷadelphō[him] . αὐτοῦautouvvv
29ἑπτὰheptaseven οὖνounNow ἀδελφοὶadelphoibrothers . ἦσανēsanthere were καὶkai- ὁhoThe πρῶτοςprōtosfirst [one] λαβὼνlabōnmarried γυναῖκαgynaikaa wife , ἀπέθανενapethanen[but] died ἄτεκνοςateknoschildless .
30καὶkaiThen ἔλαβενelabenmarried ὁhothe δεύτεροςdeuterossecond τὴνtēn[his brother’s] γυναῖκαgynaika[widow] καὶkaiand οὗτοςhoutosvvv ἀπέθανενapethanen[but] died ἄτεκνοςateknoschildless .
31καὶkaiThen ὁhothe τρίτοςtritosthird ἔλαβενelabenmarried αὐτήνautēn[the widow] , ὡσαύτωςhōsautōsin the same way ὡσαύτωςhōsautōsin the same way δὲdeand καὶkai. . . οἱhoi[all] ἑπτὰheptaseven οὐouno κατέλιπονkateliponleaving τέκναteknachildren . καὶkaiAnd ἀπέθανονapethanondied ,
32ὕστερονhysteronlast of all , δὲdeand πάντωνpantōnof all καὶkai. . . ἡhēthe γυνὴgynēwoman ἀπέθανενapethanendied .
33ἐνenin τῇtēthe ἀναστάσειanastaseiresurrection , οὖνounSo then , τίνοςtinoswhose αὐτῶνautōn. . . γίνεταιginetaiwill she be ? γυνήgynēwife οἱhoi[all] γὰρgarFor ἑπτὰheptaseven ἔσχονeschonvvv αὐτὴνautēnto her . ” γυναῖκαgynaikawere married ΚαὶKai-

35οἱhoithose who are δὲdeBut καταξιωθέντεςkataxiōthentesconsidered worthy τοῦtouthe αἰῶνοςaiōnosage [to come] ἐκείνουekeinouin τυχεῖνtycheinto share καὶkaiand τῆςtēsin the ἀναστάσεωςanastaseōsresurrection τῆςtēs- ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead οὔτεoute{will} neither γαμοῦσινgamousinmarry οὔτεoutenor γαμίζονταιgamizontaibe given in marriage .

47οἳhoi[They] κατεσθίουσινkatesthiousindefraud τὰςtas[of their] οἰκίαςoikiashouses , τῶνtōn- χηρῶνchērōnwidows καὶkaiand προφάσειprophaseifor a show μακρὰmakramake lengthy prayers . προσεύχονταιproseuchontaivvv οὗτοιhoutoiThese [men] λήψονταιlepsontaiwill receive περισσότερονperissoterongreater κρίμαkrimacondemnation . ”
