2ΚαὶKaiJust then ἰδοὺidou. . . προσέφερονprosepheron[some men] brought αὐτῷautōto Him παραλυτικὸνparalytikona paralytic ἐπὶepion κλίνηςklinēsa mat . βεβλημένονbeblēmenonlying καὶkaiWhen ἰδὼνidōnsaw ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τὴνtēn- πίστινpistinfaith , αὐτῶνautōntheir εἶπενeipenHe said τῷtōto the παραλυτικῷparalytikōparalytic , ΘάρσειTharsei“ Take courage , τέκνονteknonson ; ἀφέωνταιapheōntaihave been forgiven , σοιsoifor you , αἱhai- ἁμαρτίαιhamartiaisins σουsouyour
3ΚαὶKaiOn seeing this ἰδούidou. . . , τινεςtinessome τῶνtōnof the γραμματέωνgrammateōnscribes εἰπὼνeipōnHe said ἐνento ἑαυτοῖςheautoisthemselves , ΟὗτοςHoutos“ This [man] βλασφημεῖblasphēmeiis blaspheming ! ”
4ΚαὶKaiBut εἰδὼςeidōsknew ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τὰςtaswhat ἐνθυμήσειςenthymēseiswere thinking αὐτῶνautōnthey εἶπενeipen[and] said , ἵναhinaso that τίtiWhich ὑμεῖςhymeis“ You ἐνθυμεῖσθεenthymeisthedo you harbor πονηρὰponēraevil ἐνenin ταῖςtais- καρδίαιςkardiaishearts ? ὑμῶνhymōnyour
5τίtiWhich γάρgar- ἐστινestinis εὐκοπώτερονeukopōteroneasier : εἰπεῖνeipeinto say , ἀφέωνταιapheōntaihave been forgiven , σουsou‘ Your αἱhai- ἁμαρτίαιhamartiaisins ἢēor εἰπεῖνeipeinto say , ἜγειρεEgeire‘ Get up καὶkaiand περιπάτειperipateiwalk ? ’
6ἵναhinaso that δὲdeBut εἰδῆτεeidēteyou may know ὅτιhotithat ἐξουσίανexousianauthority ἔχειecheihas ὁhothe ΥἱὸςHuiosSon τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouof Man ἐπὶepion τῆςtēs- γῆςgēsearth ἀφιέναιaphienaito forgive ἁμαρτίαςhamartiassins ... ” τότεtoteThen λέγειlegeiHe said τῷtōto the παραλυτικῷparalytikōparalytic , Ἐγερθεὶς*Egertheis“ Get up , ἆρόνaronpick up σουsouyour τὴνtēn- κλίνηνklinēnmat , καὶkaiand ὕπαγεhypagego εἰςeisvvv τὸνtonvvv οἶκόνoikonhome . ” σουsouvvv
7καὶkaiAnd ἐγερθεὶςegertheis[the man] got up ἀπῆλθενapēlthenand went εἰςeisvvv τὸνtonvvv οἶκονoikonhome . αὐτοῦautouvvv
8ἸδόντεςIdontessaw this , δὲdeWhen οἱhoithe ὄχλοιochloicrowds ἐθαύμασανethaumasanwere amazed καὶkai- ἐδόξασανedoxasanglorified τὸνton- ΘεὸνTheonGod , τὸνton- δόνταdontawho had given ἐξουσίανexousianauthority τοιαύτηνtoiautēnsuch τοῖςtois- ἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoisto men .
9ΚαὶKaiAs παράγωνparagōnwent on ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἐκεῖθενekeithenfrom there , εἶδενeidenHe saw ἄνθρωπονanthrōpona man καθήμενονkathēmenonsitting ἐπὶepiat τὸtothe τελώνιονtelōniontax booth . ΜατθαῖονmatthaionMatthew λεγόμενονlegomenonnamed ΚαὶKaiAs λέγειlegeiHe told αὐτῷautōhim , ἈκολούθειAkolouthei“ Follow μοιmoiMe , ” καὶkai- ἀναστὰςanastas[Matthew] got up ἠκολούθησενēkolouthēsen[and] followed αὐτῷautōHim .
10ΚαὶKaiLater , ἐγένετοegenetoas αὐτοῦautou[Jesus] ἀνακειμένουanakeimenouwas dining ἐνenat τῇtē[Matthew’s] οἰκίᾳoikiahouse , καὶkai- ἰδοὺidou- πολλοὶpolloimany τελῶναιtelōnaitax collectors καὶkaiand ἁμαρτωλοὶhamartōloisinners ἐλθόντεςelthontescame συνανέκειντοsynanekeinto[and] ate with τῷtō- ἸησοῦIēsou[Him] καὶkaiand τοῖςtois- μαθηταῖςmathētaisdisciples . αὐτοῦautouHis
11καὶkaiWhen ἰδόντεςidontessaw this , οἱhoithe ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees εἰπὼνeipōnHe said τοῖςtois- μαθηταῖςmathētaisdisciples , αὐτοῦautouHis διατίdiatiwhy μετὰmetawith τῶνtōn- τελωνῶνtelōnōntax collectors καὶkaiand ἁμαρτωλῶνhamartōlōnsinners ? ” ἐσθίειesthieieat ὁho- διδάσκαλοςdidaskalosTeacher ὑμῶνhymōn{does} your
12ὁho- δὲde[On] ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἀκούσαςakousashearing this , εἶπενeipen[Jesus] said , αὐτοῖςautois- , οὐou{do} not χρείανchreianneed ἔχουσινechousin[who] οἱhoithe ἰσχύοντεςischyonteshealthy ἰατροῦiatroua doctor , ἀλλ’all’but οἱhoithe κακῶςkakōssick . ἔχοντεςechontesvvv
13πορευθέντεςporeuthentesgo δὲdeBut μάθετεmathete[and] learn τίtiwhat ἐστινestinthis means : Ἔλεονeleonmercy θέλωthelō‘ I desire καὶkai- οὐounot θυσίανthysiansacrifice .’ οὐounot γὰρgarFor ἦλθονēlthonI have not come καλέσαιkalesaito call δικαίουςdikaious[the] righteous , ἀλλὰallabut ἁμαρτωλούςhamartōloussinners . ” εἰςeisinto μετάνοιανmetanoianrepentance
14τότεtotethen προσέρχονταιproserchontaicame αὐτῷautōto [Jesus] οἱhoi- μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples ἸωάννουIōannouJohn’s λέγοντεςlegontes[and] asked , ΔιὰDia“ Why is it that τίti. . . ἡμεῖςhēmeiswe καὶkaiand οἱhoithe ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees νηστεύομενnēsteuomenfast ‹πολλά›pollaso often , οἱhoi- δὲdebut μαθηταίmathētaidisciples σουsouYour οὐou{do} not νηστεύουσι;nesteuousifast
15ΚαὶKai- εἶπενeipenreplied αὐτοῖςautois- , ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΜὴMē- δύνανταιdynantai“ How can οἱhoithe υἱοὶhuioiguests τοῦtouof the νυμφῶνοςnymphōnosbridegroom πενθεῖνpentheinmourn ἐφ’eph’vvv ὅσονhosonwhile μετ’met’with αὐτῶνautōnthem ? ἐστινestinis ὁho- νυμφίοςnymphios[He] ἐλεύσονταιeleusontaiwill come δὲdeBut ἡμέραιhēmerai[the] time ὅτανhotanwhen ἀπαρθῇaparthēwill be taken ἀπ’ap’from αὐτῶνautōnthem ; ὁhothe νυμφίοςnymphiosbridegroom καὶkai- τότεtotethen νηστεύσουσινnēsteusousinthey will fast .
16ΟὐδεὶςOudeisNo one δὲde- ἐπιβάλλειepiballeisews ἐπίβλημαepiblēmaa patch ῥάκουςrhakouscloth ἀγνάφουagnaphouof unshrunk ἐπὶepion ἱματίῳhimatiōgarment . παλαιῷpalaiōan old αἴρειaireiwill pull away γὰρgarFor τὸtothe πλήρωμαplērōmapatch αὐτοῦautou- ἀπὸapofrom τοῦtouthe ἱματίουhimatiougarment , καὶkaiand χεῖρονcheirona worse σχίσμαschismatear γίνεταιginetaiwill result .
17ΟὐδὲOudeNeither βάλλουσινballousindo [men] pour οἶνονoinonwine νέονneonnew εἰςeisinto ἀσκοὺςaskouswineskins . παλαιούςpalaiousold εἰeiIf they do δὲde. . . μήγε,mege[he is unable] , ῥήγνυνταιrhēgnyntaiwill burst , οἱhoithe ἀσκοίaskoiskins καὶkai- ὁhothe οἶνοςoinoswine ἐκχεῖταιekcheitaiwill spill , καὶkaiand οἱhoithe ἀσκοὶaskoiwineskins ἀπολλοῦνται·apollountaiwill be ruined . ἀλλὰallaInstead , οἶνονoinonwine νέονneonnew εἰςeisinto ἀσκοὺςaskouswineskins , βάλλουσιballousiis thrown καινούςkainousnew καὶkaiand ἀμφότεροιamphoteroiboth συντηροῦνταιsyntērountaiare preserved . ”
18ΤαῦταTautathese things αὐτοῦautouWhile λαλοῦντοςlalountos[Jesus] was saying αὐτοῖςautois- ἰδοὺidou- , ἄρχωνarchōnsynagogue leader εἷςheisa προσῆλθονprosēlthoncame προσεκύνειprosekynei[and] knelt αὐτῷautōbefore Him . λέγωνlegōnhe said ὅτιhoti- . ἩHē- θυγάτηρthygatērdaughter μουmou“ My ἄρτιartivvv ἐτελεύτησενeteleutēsenhas just died , ” ἀλλὰalla“ But ἐλθὼνelthōncome ἐπίθεςepithes[and] place τὴνtēn- χεῖράcheirahand σουsouYour ἐπ’ep’on αὐτήνautēnher , καὶkaiand ζήσεταιzēsetaishe will live . ”
19ΚαὶKaiSo ἐγερθεὶςegertheisgot up ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἠκολούθησενēkolouthēsen[and] followed αὐτῷautōHim . ΚαὶKaiLater , οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples αὐτοῦautouHis
20καὶkaiWhen ἰδοὺidou- γυνὴgynēa woman αἱμορροοῦσαhaimorroousawho had suffered from bleeding δώδεκαdōdeka[for] twelve ἔτηetēyears προσελθοῦσαproselthousacame up ὄπισθενopisthenbehind [Him] ἥψατοhēpsato[and] touched τοῦtouthe κρασπέδουkraspedoufringe τοῦtouof ἱματίουhimatioucloak . αὐτοῦautouHis
21ἔλεγενelegenShe said γὰρgar- ἐνento ἑαυτῇheautēherself , ἘὰνEan“ If μόνονmonononly ἅψωμαιhapsōmaiI touch τοῦtou- ἱματίουhimatioucloak , αὐτοῦautouHis σωθήσομαιsōthēsomaiI will be healed . ”
22ὉHo- δὲde- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἐπιστραφεὶςepistrapheis[Jesus] turned καὶkaiand ἰδὼνidōnsaw αὐτὴνautēnher . εἰπὲeipesay ΘάρσειTharsei“ Take courage , θύγατερthygaterdaughter , ” ἡhē- πίστιςpistisfaith σουsou“ your σέσωκέsesokehas healed σεseyou . ” καὶkaiAnd ἐσώθηesōthēwas cured ἡhēthe γυνὴgynēwoman ἀπὸapofrom τῆςtēsthat ὥραςhōrashour . ἐκείνηςekeinēsvery
23ΚαὶKaiWhen ἐλθὼνelthōnentered ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus εἰςeis. . . τὴνtēnthe οἰκίανoikianhouse τοῦtouof the ἄρχοντοςarchontossynagogue leader , καὶkai- ἰδὼνidōnHe saw τοὺςtousthe αὐλητὰςaulētasflute players καὶkaiand τὸνtonthe ὄχλονochloncrowd . θορυβούμενονthoryboumenonnoisy λέγειlegeiasked αὐτοῖςautois- .
24ἈναχωρεῖτεAnachōreite“ Go away , ” οὐouis not dead γὰρgar“ - ἀπέθανεapethaneshe is not dead τὸtoThe κοράσιονkorasiongirl ἀλλὰallabut καθεύδειkatheudeiasleep . ” καὶkaiAnd κατεγέλωνkategelōnthey laughed at αὐτοῦautouHim .
25ὍτεHote. . . δὲdeAfter ἐξεβλήθηexeblēthēhad been put outside , ὁhothe ὄχλοςochloscrowd εἰσελθὼνeiselthōn[Jesus] went in ἐκράτησεekratese[and] took τῆςtēsby the χειρὸςcheiroshand , αὐτῆςautēs[the girl] καὶkaiand ἠγέρθηēgerthēgot up . τὸto- κοράσιονkorasion[she]
26καὶkaiAnd ἐξῆλθενexēlthenspread ἡhēthe φήμηphēmēnews αὕτηhautēabout this εἰςeisthroughout ὅληνholēn. . . τὴνtēn- γῆνgēnregion . ἐκείνηνekeinēnthat
27ΚαὶKaiAs παράγοντιparagontiwent on ἐκεῖθενekeithenfrom there , τῷtō- ἸησοῦIēsouJesus ἠκολούθησανēkolouthēsanfollowed ‹αὐτῷ›autōHim , δύοdyotwo τυφλοὶtyphloiblind [men] κράζοντεςkrazontescrying out καὶkai- λέγοντεςlegontes- , ἘλέησονEleēson“ Have mercy on ἡμᾶςhēmasus , ΥἱὲHuieSon ΔαυίδDauidof David ! ”
28ἘλθόντιElthonti[Jesus] had entered δὲdeAfter εἰςeis- τὴνtēnthe οἰκίανoikianhouse , προσῆλθονprosēlthoncame αὐτῷautōto Him . οἱhoithe τυφλοίtyphloiblind [men] καὶkai- λέγειlegeiasked αὐτοῖςautois- . ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsous[He] ΠιστεύετεPisteuete“ Do you believe ὅτιhotithat δύναμαιdynamaiI am able τοῦτοtoutothis ? ” ποιῆσαιpoiēsaito do ΛέγουσινLegousinthey answered αὐτῷautō- . ΝαίNai“ Yes , ΚύριεKyrieLord , ”
29ΤότεToteThen ἥψατοhēpsatoHe touched τῶνtōn- ὀφθαλμῶνophthalmōneyes αὐτῶνautōntheir λέγωνlegōn[and] said , ΚατὰKata“ According to τὴνtēn- πίστινpistinfaith ὑμῶνhymōnyour γενηθήτωgenēthētōwill it be done ὑμῖνhyminto you . ”
30καὶkaiAnd ἀνεῴχθησανaneōchthēsanbroke open , αὐτῶνautōntheir οἱhoi- ὀφθαλμοίophthalmoieyes καὶkai- ἐνεβριμήσατοenebrimesatowarned them sternly αὐτοῖςautois. . . ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus λέγωνlegōn- , ὉρᾶτεHorate“ See that μηδεὶςmēdeisno one γινωσκέτωginōsketōfinds out about this ! ”
31οἱhoi- δὲdeBut ἐξελθόντεςexelthontesthey went out διεφήμισανdiephēmisanand spread the news αὐτὸνautonabout Him ἐνenthroughout ὅλῃholē. . . τῇtēthe γῇgēland . ἐκείνῃekeinē. . .
32αὐτὸνautonabout Him δὲdeBut ἐξερχομένωνexerchomenōnwere leaving , ἰδοὺidou- προσήνεγκανprosēnenkanwas brought αὐτῷautōto [Jesus] . ‹ἄνθρωπον›anthrōponman κωφὸνkōphonwho was mute δαιμονιζόμενονdaimonizomenona demon-possessed
33καὶkaiAnd when ἐκβληθέντοςekblēthentoshad been driven out , τοῦtouthe δαιμονίουdaimonioudemon ἐλάλησενelalēsenbegan to speak . ὁhothe κωφόςkōphos[man] καὶkai- ἐθαύμασανethaumasanwere amazed οἱhoiThe ὄχλοιochloicrowds λέγοντεςlegontes[and] said , ΟὐδέποτεOudepote“ Nothing ἐφάνηephanēhas ever been seen οὕτωςhoutōslike this ἐνenin τῷtō- ἸσραήλIsraēlIsrael ! ”
34ΟἱHoithe δὲdeBut ΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiPharisees ἔλεγονelegonsaid , ἘνEn“ [It is] by τῷtōthe ἄρχοντιarchontiprince τῶνtōnof δαιμονίωνdaimoniōndemons ἐκβάλλειekballei[that] He drives out τὰta- δαιμόνιαdaimoniademons . ”
35ΚαὶKai- περιῆγενperiēgenwent through ὁho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus τὰςtasthe πόλειςpoleistowns πάσαςpasasall καὶkaiand τὰςtas- κώμαςkōmasvillages , διδάσκωνdidaskōnteaching ἐνenin ταῖςtais- συναγωγαῖςsynagōgaissynagogues , αὐτῶνautōntheir καὶkai- κηρύσσωνkēryssōnpreaching τὸtothe εὐαγγέλιονeuangeliongospel τῆςtēsof the βασιλείαςbasileiaskingdom , καὶkaiand θεραπεύωνtherapeuōnhealing πᾶσανpasanevery νόσονnosondisease καὶkaiand πᾶσανpasan- μαλακίανmalakiansickness . ἐνenin τὸtothe λαῷlaōpeople .
36ἸδὼνIdōnHe saw δὲdeWhen τοὺςtousthe ὄχλουςochlouscrowds , ἐσπλαγχνίσθηesplanchnisthēHe was moved with compassion περὶperifor αὐτῶνautōnthem , ὅτιhotibecause ἦσανēsanthey were ἐκλελυμένοιeklelumenoiharassed καὶkaiand ἐρριμμένοιerrimmenoihelpless , ὡςhōswhen πρόβαταprobatasheep μὴmēwithout ἔχονταechonta. . . ποιμέναpoimenaa shepherd .
37ΤότεToteThen λέγειlegeiHe said τοῖςtoisto μαθηταῖςmathētaisdisciples , αὐτοῦautouHis ὉHo“ The μὲνmen- θερισμὸςtherismosharvest πολύςpolys[is] plentiful , οἱhoithe δὲdebut ἐργάταιergataiworkers ὀλίγοιoligoi[are] few .
38δεήθητεdeēthēteAsk οὖνountherefore , τοῦtouof the ΚυρίουKyriouLord τοῦtouof the θερισμοῦtherismouharvest , ὅπωςhopōs- ἐκβάλῃekbalēto send out ἐργάταςergatasworkers εἰςeisinto τὸνton- θερισμὸνtherismonharvest . ” αὐτοῦautouHis
