2ἐκλήθηeklēthēhad also been invited δὲdeand καὶkaiand ho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus καὶkaiand οἱhoi- μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples αὐτοῦautouHis εἰςeisto τὸνtonthe γάμονgamonwedding .
3καὶkaiWhen ὑστερήσαντοςhysterēsantosran out , οἴνουoinou[the] wine λέγειlegeisaid - μήτηρmētērmother τοῦtou- ἸησοῦIēsouJesus’ πρὸςprosto αὐτόνautonHim , ΟἶνονOinonwine . ” οὐκoukno more ἔχουσινechousin“ They have
4λέγειlegeisaid αὐτῇautē- . ho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΤίTiwhy [does this concern] ἐμοὶemoius καὶkai. . . σοίsoi. . . ? ” γύναιgynai“ Woman , οὔπωoupō{has} not yet ἥκειhēkeicome . ” - ὥραhōrahour μουmou“ My

6ἮσανĒsanhad been δὲdeNow ἐκεῖekeithere ὑδρίαιhydriaiwater jars λίθιναιlithinaistone ἓξhexsix κείμεναιkeimenaiset κατὰkatafor τῶνtōnthe καθαρισμὸνkatharismon[rites of] purification . τὸνton- ἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnJewish χωροῦσαιchōrousai[Each] could hold ἀνὰanafrom μετρητὰςmetrētas. . . . δύοdyotwenty to thirty gallons ē. . . τρεῖςtreis. . .
7λέγειlegeitold αὐτοῖςautois[the servants] ho- , ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ΓεμίσατεGemisate“ Fill τὰςtasthe ὑδρίαςhydriasjars ὕδατοςhydatoswith water . ” ΚαὶKaiSo ἐγέμισανegemisanthey filled αὐτὰςautasthem ἕωςheōsto ἄνωanō[the] brim .
8ΚαὶKai- λέγειlegeiHe said αὐτοῖςautois- , ἈντλήσατεAntlēsatedraw [some] out , ” νῦνnyn“ Now ΚαὶKai- φέρετεpheretetake [it] τῷto the ἀρχιτρικλίνῳarchitriklinōmaster of the banquet . ” καὶkai“ and ἤνεγκανēnenkanThey [did so] ,
9ὡςhōs- δὲdeand ἐγεύσατοegeusatotasted hothe ἀρχιτρίκλινοςarchitriklinosmaster of the banquet τὸtothe ὕδωρhydōrwater οἶνονoinonwine . γεγενημένονgegenēmenonthat had been turned into καὶkai- οὐκoukvvv ᾔδειēdeiHe did not know πόθενpothenwhere ἐστίνestinit was {from} , οἱhoithe δὲdebut διάκονοιdiakonoiservants ᾔδεισανēdeisanknew . οἱhoiwho ἠντληκότεςēntlēkoteshad drawn τὸtothe ὕδωρhydōrwater φωνεῖphōneicalled τὸνtonthe νυμφίονnymphionbridegroom [aside] hoThen ἀρχιτρίκλινοςarchitriklinos[he]
10καὶkaiand λέγειlegeisaid αὐτῷautō- , ΠᾶςPas“ Everyone ἄνθρωποςanthrōpos- πρῶτονprōtonfirst , τὸνtonthe καλὸνkalonfine οἶνονoinonwine τίθησι,tithesiputs [it] καὶkaiand then ὅτανhotanafter μεθυσθῶσι,methusthosi[the guests] are drunk . τότεtotethen τὸνtonthe ἐλάσσωelassōcheap [wine] σὺsy[But] you τετήρηκαςtetērēkashave saved τὸνtonthe καλὸνkalonfine οἶνονoinonwine ἕωςheōsuntil ἄρτιartinow ! ”
11ΤαύτηνTautēnthis , ἐποίησενepoiēsenperformed τὴνtēn- ἀρχὴνarchēnthe first τῶνtōnof His σημείωνsēmeiōnsigns , ho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus ἐνenat ΚανὰKanaCana τῆςtēs- ΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasin Galilee . καὶkaiHe thus ἐφανέρωσεephaneroserevealed τὴνtēn- δόξανdoxanglory , αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand ἐπίστευσανepisteusanbelieved εἰςeisin αὐτὸνautonHim . οἱhoi- μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples αὐτοῦautouHis
12ΜετὰMetaAfter τοῦτοtoutothis , κατέβηkatebēHe went down εἰςeisto ΚαπερναοὺμkapernaoumCapernaum . αὐτὸςautos- καὶkai[with] - μήτηρmētērmother αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ἀδελφοὶadelphoibrothers [αὐτοῦ]autou- καὶkaiand οἱhoi- μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples , αὐτοῦautouHis καὶkaiand ἐκεῖekeithere ἜμεινενEmeinenstayed οὐouvvv πολλὰςpollasa few ἡμέραςhēmerasdays .
13ΚαὶKaiWhen ἐγγὺςengysnear , ἦνēnwas τὸtothe πάσχαpaschaPassover τῶνtōnvvv ἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnJewish ΚαὶKaiWhen ἀνέβηanebēwent up εἰςeisto ἹεροσόλυμαHierosolymaJerusalem . ho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus
14καὶkai- εὗρενheurenHe found ἐνenIn τῷthe ἱερῷhierōtemple [courts] τοὺςtous[men] πωλοῦνταςpōlountasselling βόαςboascattle , καὶkai- πρόβαταprobatasheep , καὶkaiand περιστερὰςperisterasdoves , καὶkaiand τοὺςtous- κερματιστὰςkermatistasmoney changers καθημένουςkathēmenousseated [at their tables] .
15καὶkai[So] ποιήσαςpoiēsasHe made φραγέλλιονphragelliona whip ἐκekout of σχοινίωνschoiniōncords πάνταςpantasall ἐξέβαλενexebalen[and] drove ἐκekfrom τοῦtouthe ἱεροῦhieroutemple [courts] , τάta- τεteboth πρόβαταprobatasheep καὶkaiand τοὺςtous- βόαςboascattle . καὶkai- τῶνtōnof the κολλυβιστῶνkollybistōnmoney changers ἐξέχεενexecheenHe poured out τῷthe κέρμαkermamoney changers καὶkai- τὰςtas[their] τραπέζαςtrapezastables . ἀνέτρεψε,anetrepseoverturned
16καὶkai- τοῖςtoisTo those τὰςtas- περιστερὰςperisterasdoves πωλοῦσινpōlousinselling εἶπενeipenHe said , ἌρατεArate“ Get ταῦταtautathese ἐντεῦθενenteuthenout of here ! μὴHow dare you ποιεῖτεpoieiteturn τὸνton- οἶκονoikonhouse {into} τοῦtou- ΠατρόςPatrosFather’s μουmouMy οἶκονoikonhouse {into} ἐμπορίουemporiou. . . ! ”
17ἘμνήσθησανEmnēsthēsanremembered δὲdeBut οἱhoithe μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples αὐτοῦautouHis ὅτιhotithat γεγραμμένονgegrammenonwritten : ἐστίνestinit is Ho- ζῆλοςzēlos“ Zeal τοῦtoufor οἴκουoikouhouse σουsouYour καταφάγεταίkataphagetaiwill consume μεmeMe .”
18ἈπεκρίθησανApekrithēsandemanded οὖνounOn account of this , οἱhoithe ἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiJews καὶkai. . . εἰπὼνeipōnHe said αὐτῷautō. . . , ΤίTi“ What σημεῖονsēmeionsign δεικνύειςdeiknyeiscan You show ἡμῖνhēminus ὅτιhotito prove ταῦταtautathese things ? ” ποιεῖςpoieisYour [ authority ] to do
19ἈπεκρίθηApekrithēanswered ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus καὶkai. . . εἶπενeipen. . . αὐτοῖςautois. . . , ΛύσατεLysate“ Destroy τὸνton- ναὸνnaontemple , τοῦτονtoutonthis καὶkaiand ἐνenin τρισὶνtrisinthree ἡμέραιςhēmeraisdays ἐγερῶegerōI will raise it up again αὐτόνauton. . . . ”
20εἰπὼνeipōnHe said οὖνoun- οἱhoithe ἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiJews Τεσσαράκονταtessarakonta[where for] forty καὶkai“ and ἓξhex. . . ἔτεσινetesinyears ᾠκοδομήθηokodometheto build , ” ho- ναὸςnaostemple {took} οὗτοςhoutos“ This καὶkai. . . σὺsyYou ἐνenin τρισὶνtrisinthree ἡμέραιςhēmeraisdays ? ” ἐγερεῖςegereisare going to raise it up αὐτόνauton. . .
21ἘκεῖνοςEkeinos[Jesus] δὲdeBut ἔλεγεelege[Jesus] declared περὶperiabout τοῦtouthe ναοῦnaoutemple τοῦtouthe σώματοςsōmatosbody . αὐτοῦautou[of] His
22ὅτεhoteAfter οὖνoun- ἠγέρθηēgerthēHe was raised ἐκekfrom νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] dead , ἐμνήσθησανemnēsthēsanremembered οἱhoi- μαθηταὶmathētaidisciples αὐτοῦautouHis ὅτιhotithat τοῦτοtoutothis . ἔλεγε,elege[Jesus] declared καὶkaiThen ἐπίστευσανepisteusanthey believed τῇthe γραφῇgraphēScripture καὶkaiand τῷthe λόγῳlogōword ὃνhonthat εἶπενeipenhad spoken . ho- ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus
23ὩςHōsWhile δὲde- ἦνēnHe was ἦνēnHe was τοῖςtois- ἹεροσολύμοιςHierosolymoisJerusalem ἐνenat τῷthe πάσχαpaschaPassover ἐνen- τῇ- ἑορτῇheortēFeast , πολλοὶpolloimany people ἐπίστευσανepisteusan[and] believed εἰςeisin τὸto- ὄνομαonomaname . αὐτοῦautouHis θεωροῦντεςtheōrountessaw αὐτοῦautou[the] τὰta- σημεῖαsēmeiasigns ha- ἐποίειepoieiHe was doing
24αὐτὸςautos. . . δὲdeBut ἸησοῦςIēsousJesus οὐκouk{did} not ἐπίστευενepisteuenentrust ἑαυτὸνheautonhimself αὐτοῖςautoisto them , διὰdiafor τὸto- αὐτὸνautonHe γινώσκεινginōskeinknew πάνταςpantas[them] all .
25καὶkai- ὅτιhoti- οὐounot χρείανchreianneed εἶχενeichenHe {did} ἵναhina- τιςtisany μαρτυρήσῃmartyrēsētestimony περὶperiabout τοῦtou- ἀνθρώπουanthrōpouman , αὐτὸςautosHe γὰρgarfor ἐγίνωσκεeginoskeHe would know τίtiwhat ἦνēnwas ἦνēnwas τῷ- ἀνθρώπῳanthrōpō[a] man .
