1ΚαὶKaiAnd σημεῖονsēmeionsign μέγαmegaa great ὤφθηōphthēappeared ἐνenin τῷ- οὐρανῷouranōheaven : γυνὴgynēa woman περιβεβλημένηperibeblēmenēclothed in τὸνtonthe ἥλιονhēlionsun , καὶkaiwith the σελήνηselēnēmoon ὑποκάτωhypokatōunder τῶνtōn- ποδῶνpodōnfeet αὐτῆςautēsher καὶkaiand ἐπὶepion τῆςtēs- κεφαλῆςkephalēshead . αὐτῆςautēsher στέφανοςstephanosa crown ἀστέρωνasterōnstars δώδεκαdōdekaof twelve
2καὶkaiand ἐνenvvv γαστρὶgastrivvv ἔχουσαechousaShe was pregnant καὶkaiand ἔκραζενekrazenhe cried out ὠδίνουσαōdinousain the pain καὶkaiand βασανιζομένηbasanizomenēagony τεκεῖνtekeinof giving birth .
3ΚαὶKaiThen ὤφθηōphthēappeared ἄλλοalloanother σημεῖονsēmeionsign ἐνenin τῷ- οὐρανῷouranōheaven : καὶkai- ἰδοὺidou- δράκωνdrakōndragon πυρρόςpyrrosred μέγαςmegasa huge ἔχωνechōn[with] κεφαλὰςkephalasheads , ἑπτὰheptaseven καὶkai- κέραταkeratahorns , δέκαdekaten καὶkai- ἐπὶepion τὰςtas- κεφαλὰςkephalasheads . αὐτοῦautouHis ἑπτὰheptaseven διαδήματαdiadēmataroyal crowns
4καὶkaiand - οὐρὰouratail αὐτοῦautouHis σύρειsyreiswept τὸtoa τρίτονtritonthird τῶνtōnof the ἀστέρωνasterōnstars τοῦtoufrom οὐρανοῦouranou[the] sky , καὶkai- ἔβαλενebalentossing αὐτοὺςautousthem εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe γῆνgēnearth . καὶkaiAnd hothe δράκωνdrakōndragon ἕστηκενhestēkenstood ἐνώπιονenōpionbefore τῆςtēsthe γυναικὸςgynaikoswoman τῆςtēs- μελλούσηςmellousēswho was about τεκεῖνtekeinto give birth , ἵναhinaready to ὅτανhotanas soon as τέκῃtekēshe gave birth . τὸto- τέκνονteknonchild αὐτῆςautēsher καταφάγῃkataphagēdevour
5ΚαὶKaiAnd ἔτεκενetekenshe gave birth υἱόνhuionto a son , ἄρρενα,arrenamale ὃςhoswho μέλλειmelleiwill ποιμαίνεινpoimaineinrule πάνταpantaall τὰtathe ἔθνηethnēnations ἐνenwith ῥάβδῳrhabdōscepter . σιδηρᾷsidēraan iron καὶkaiAnd ἡρπάσθηhērpasthēwas caught up τὸto- τέκνονteknonchild αὐτῆςautēsher πρὸςprosto τὸνton- ΘεὸνTheonGod καὶkaiand πρὸςprosto τὸνton- θρόνονthrononthrone . αὐτοῦautouHis
6καὶkaiand the γυνὴgynēwoman ἔφυγενephygenfled εἰςeisinto τὴνtēnthe ἔρημονerēmonwilderness , ὅπουhopouwhere ἔχειechei- ἐκεῖekei- τόπονtopona place ἡτοιμασμένονhētoimasmenonhad prepared ἀπὸapo- τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod ἵναhinafor ἐκεῖekei- τρέφωσινtrephōsinto be nourished αὐτὴνautēnher ἡμέραςhēmerasdays . χιλίαςchiliasfor 1,260 διακοσίαςdiakosias. . . ἑξήκονταhexēkonta. . .
7ΚαὶKaiThen ἐγένετοegenetobroke out πόλεμοςpolemosa war ἐνenin τῷ- οὐρανῷouranōheaven : ho- ΜιχαὴλMichaēlMichael καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ἄγγελοιangeloiangels αὐτοῦautouhis τοῦtou- πολεμῆσαιpolemēsaifought μετὰmetaagainst τοῦtouthe δράκοντοςdrakontosdragon , καὶkaiand hothe δράκωνdrakōndragon ἐπολέμησεepolemesefought [back] . καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ἄγγελοιangeloiangels αὐτοῦautouhis
8καὶkaiand οὐκoukvvv ἴσχυσεν*ischysen[the dragon] was not strong enough , οὐδὲoude[and] no longer τόποςtopos[was] any place εὑρέθηheurethēfound αὐτῷautōHe ἔτιeti. . . ἐνenin τῷ- οὐρανῷouranōheaven
9καὶkaiAnd ἐβλήθηeblēthēwas hurled down — hothat δράκωνdrakōndragon hothat ὄφιςophisserpent ho- μέγαςmegasgreat ho- ἀρχαῖοςarchaiosancient ho- καλούμενοςkaloumenoscalled ΔιάβολοςDiabolos[the] devil καὶkaiand HO- ΣατανᾶςSatanasSatan , hothe πλανῶνplanōndeceiver τὴνtēnof the οἰκουμένηνoikoumenēn[world] . ὅληνholēnwhole ἐβλήθηeblēthēHe was hurled εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe γῆνgēnearth , καὶkaiand οἱhoi- ἄγγελοιangeloiangels αὐτοῦautouhis μετ’met’with αὐτοῦautouhim . ἐβλήθησανeblēthēsan-
10ΚαὶKaiAnd ἤκουσαēkousaI heard φωνὴνphōnēnvoice μεγάληνmegalēna loud ἐνenin τῷ- οὐρανῷouranōheaven λέγουσανlegousansaying : ἌρτιArti“ Now ἐγένετοegenetohave come the σωτηρίαsōtēriasalvation καὶkaiand the δύναμιςdynamispower καὶkaiand the βασιλείαbasileiakingdom τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod , ἡμῶνhēmōnof our καὶkaiand the ἐξουσίαexousiaauthority τοῦtou- ΧριστοῦChristouChrist . αὐτοῦautouof His ὅτιhotiFor ἐβλήθηeblēthēhas been thrown down — hohe who κατήγοροςkategorosaccuses τῶνtōn- ἀδελφῶνadelphōnbrothers ἡμῶνhēmōnof our hothe κατηγορῶνkatēgorōnaccuses αὐτὸνautonhim ἐνώπιονenōpionbefore τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouGod . ἡμῶνhēmōnour ἡμέραςhēmerasday καὶkaiand νυκτόςnyktosnight
11καὶkaiand αὐτοὶautoiThey ἐνίκησανenikēsanhave conquered αὐτὸνautonhim διὰdiaby τὸtothe αἷμαhaimablood τοῦtouof the ἈρνίουArniouLamb καὶkaiand διὰdiaby τὸνtonthe λόγονlogonword τῆςtēsof μαρτυρίαςmartyriastestimony . αὐτῶνautōntheir καὶkaiAnd οὐκoukvvv ἠγάπησανēgapēsanthey did not love τὴνtēn- ψυχὴνpsychēnlives αὐτῶνautōntheir ἄχριachriso as to shy away from θανάτουthanatoudeath .
12διὰdiaTherefore τοῦτοtouto. . . εὐφραίνεσθεeuphrainestherejoice , οὐρανοὶouranoiheavens , καὶkaiand οἱhoi[you who] ἐνenin αὐτοῖςautoisthem ! σκηνοῦντεςskēnountesdwell οὐαὶouai[But] woe to τὴνtēnthe γῆνgēnearth καὶkaiand τὴνtēnthe θάλασσανthalassansea ; ὅτιhoti- κατέβηkatebēhas come down hothe διάβολοςdiabolosdevil πρὸςprosto ὑμᾶςhymasyou , ἔχωνechōnwith θυμὸνthymonfury μέγανmegangreat εἰδὼςeidōsknowing ὅτιhoti- ὀλίγονoligononly a short καιρὸνkairontime . ” ἔχειecheihe has
13ΚαὶKaiAnd ὅτεhotewhen εἶδενeidensaw hothe δράκωνdrakōndragon ὅτιhotithat ἐβλήθηeblēthēhe had been thrown εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe γῆνgēnearth , ἐδίωξεedioxehe pursued τὴνtēnthe γυναῖκαgynaikawoman ἥτιςhētiswho ἔτεκεetekeshe gave birth to τὸνtonto the ἄρρενα.arrenamale
14καὶkai[But] ἐδόθησανedothēsanwas given τῇthe γυναικὶgynaikiwoman δύοdyotwo πτέρυγεςpterygeswings τοῦtouof a ἀετοῦaetoueagle τοῦtou- μεγάλουmegalougreat ἵναhinato πέτηταιpetētaifly εἰςeisto τὴνtēnthe ἔρημονerēmonwilderness , εἰςeisin τὸνton- τόπονtoponplace αὐτῆςautēsher ὅπωςhopōsto τρέφεταιtrephetaishe was nourished ἐκεῖekei- καιρὸνkaironfor a time , καὶkaiand καιροὺςkairoustimes , καὶkaiand ἥμισυhēmisyhalf καιροῦkairoua time . ἀπὸapofrom προσώπουprosōpou[the] presence τοῦtouof the ὄφεωςopheōsserpent
15καὶkaiand ἔβαλενebalenspewed hoof the ὄφιςophisserpent ἐκekfrom τοῦtouthe στόματοςstomatosmouth αὐτοῦautou- ὀπίσωopisōto overtake τῆςtēsthe γυναικὸςgynaikoswoman ὕδωρhydōrwater ὡςhōslike ποταμόνpotamona river ἵναhina[and] αὐτὴνautēnher ποταμοφόρητονpotamophorētonaway in the torrent . ποιήσῃpoiēsēsweep
16καὶkai[But] ἐβοήθησενeboēthēsenhelped the γῆearth τῇthe γυναικίgynaikiwoman καὶkaiand ἤνοιξενēnoixenopened - γῆ- τὸto- στόμαstomamouth αὐτῆςautēsits καὶkai- κατέπιεkatepieto swallow up τὸνtonthe ποταμὸνpotamonriver ὃνhonthat ἔβαλενebalenhad poured hothe δράκωνdrakōndragon’s ἐκekfrom τοῦtou- στόματοςstomatosmouth . αὐτοῦautou-
17καὶkaiAnd ὠργίσθηōrgisthēwas enraged hothe δράκωνdrakōndragon ἐπὶepiat τῇthe γυναικίgynaikiwoman , καὶkaiand ἀπέλθῃapelthēto depart ποιῆσαιpoiēsaito make πόλεμονpolemonwar μετὰmetawith τῶνtōnthe λοιπῶνloipōnrest τοῦtouof σπέρματοςspermatoschildren , αὐτῆςautēsher τῶνtōnwho τηρούντωνtērountōnkeep τὰςtasthe ἐντολὰςentolascommandments τοῦtou- ΘεοῦTheouof God καὶkaiand ἐχόντωνechontōnhold to τὴνtēnthe μαρτυρίανmartyriantestimony ἸησοῦIēsouof Jesus .
