Genesis 38:9
בְּרֵאשִׁיתבְּרֵאשִׁיתבראשיתbə·rê·šîṯIn the beginning פֶּרֶקפֶּרֶקפרקpeɾekchapter לָמֶדלָמֶדלמדlamədthirty חֵיתחֵיתחיתχeteight
9וַיֵּ֣דַעוַיֵּדַעוידעway·yê·ḏa‘knew אוֹנָ֔ןאוֹנָןאונן’ō·w·nānBut Onan כִּ֛יכִּיכיkîthat לֹּ֥אלֹּאלאlōwould not ל֖וֹלוֹלוlōwto him ; יִהְיֶ֣היִהְיֶהיהיהyih·yehbelong הַזָּ֑רַעהַזָּרַעהזרעhaz·zā·ra‘the offspring וְהָיָ֞הוְהָיָהוהיהwə·hā·yāh. . . אִם־אִם־אם’im-so whenever בָּ֨אבָּאבאbāhe would sleep with אֶל־אֶל־אל’el-. . . אֵ֤שֶׁתאֵשֶׁתאשת’ê·šeṯwife , אָחִיו֙אָחִיואחיו’ā·ḥîwhis brother’s וְשִׁחֵ֣תוְשִׁחֵתושחתwə·ši·ḥêṯhe would spill his seed אַ֔רְצָהאַרְצָהארצה’ar·ṣāhon the ground לְבִלְתִּ֥ילְבִלְתִּילבלתיlə·ḇil·tîso that he would not נְתָן־נְתָן־נתןnə·ṯān-produce זֶ֖רַעזֶרַעזרעze·ra‘offspring לְאָחִֽיו׃לְאָחִֽיו׃לאחיוlə·’ā·ḥîwfor his brother .
